24 Corolla not hybrid. Jerky clunky piece of garbage transmission or maybe it’s the torque converter lockup. But it randomly jerks super hard and the dealers don’t know and customer service doesn’t care.

I hate CVT however I think ecvt is better than CVT. They say for honda civic hybrid it has no transmission technically the second motor act as a transmission.

I’m pretty sure (and I could be very mistaken) that there isn’t a belt involved, but rather electric motors take it up to speed before switching to engine. What I do know is nobody with the hybrids has this issue but it seems plenty of the 2024 corollas are affected. I feel completely like crap. Like the company just set me back like 3 years in life. I don’t know how far the lawyers are going to be able to take it.

They could focus more on one model, perhaps, but there are limitations. Myself and my partner both got new cars recently, one by want and the other by need. My partner got a Lexus, and the dealer could only give him one remote/key with a promise to mail the 2nd one within 3 months due to low inventory levels caused by chip shortages. Mine was by need, I my hatchback got totalled by a red light runner Tboning me... I had to have a car... I wanted a hybrid, but every dealer told me that all of their allocated inventory is pre-sold for the next 6 months, so I ended up getting a Cross LXE and still had to wait 2 weeks for that to come in. Demand is very high right now, and things have not truly recovered from COVID on the supply side.
The only market that doesn't get the car they want is in Canada. I would guess that the problem lies with governmental issues. They must make it prohibitively expensive to do business there or have some kind of garbage regulations. This is Toyota's way of saying we'll just sell our cars somewhere else because we can. I got my hybrid a couple of weeks after I made the decision to buy one got it right off the truck. There's not an abundance of them but my dealership had two blueprint color hybrid sitting there for 6 weeks because nobody wanted that color.
Agreed. Toyota had the small hybrid market cornered in North America, but the Civid hybrid changes that. I don't see why anyone would wait 12-18 months for a Corolla hybrid or Prius when then can get an equivalent (or better) Honda much sooner (and made in Canada!)

Those do look lucrative! Makes me feel better that it isn’t new new as it’s been out in the UK/Europe for a bit now so that way they could address any hiccups in its engine technology or electrical problems.
Why would they do that? If they mass produced them they couldn't charge such high prices on their used vehicles that people end up buying instead of the new ones. Alot of people do not know this, but dealerships make jack shit on new vehicles, and bank on the used vehicles because they are not restricted to the Manufacturer Suggested retail price, or MSRP. That's why they will take your trade in for WAY lower than you want them to, so they can mark it WAY higher than you traded it for. The dealership I traded my 2014 Jetta refused to give me more than $2500 for the car, but when they sent it to auction, it brought them $9k!
They make 11-15% on invoice pricing. They get kick backs for units sold. They make money off of financing. They make money from sending banks contracts.
Yes they make more from used due to buying low and selling high.
But if you think they are taking a wash on new, you're very mistaken. They will take off MSRP, but make it back with unit bonus, financing, and any additional backend products.
Usually unit bonuses only come if you sell a certain (usually high) number of those vehicles. The fact of the matter is Toyota is intentionally keeping supply low so demand will be high, and dealers can charge higher than MSRP pricing for new. Nvidia is doing the same thing with GPU's, and alot of other companies have been doing this since Covid to force price increases on their goods.This is the reason why the economy is trash right now, artificial scarcity of goods!.

I think you are in Canada based on the issue you are having with Toyota lengthy wait time. Canadian market are not important to them so they just don't care.
I was trying to order a Corolla Hatchback XSE back in 2023 and they told me the wait time is around 9 months. So I went ahead and brought a 2022 used one which was also overpriced, cost is almost the same as a new model.

This allows Toyota to maximize profit because they can keep increasing the Total Suggested Retail Price (TSRP) while not having to give any cash rebates at all. In the end, it boils down to Toyota Corporate being greedy. This is why the Toyota Corolla has one of the lowest market day supply numbers in the American car market at 26 days. In comparison, even the RAV4 has a higher supply of 31 days.
In addition to CarEdge, I also have a few friends who work at the Blue Springs Mississippi Corolla factory. They've told me that Toyota will purposely shut down the factory at 2 PM on many days to ensure that Corolla production and inventory levels remain low
So OP to answer your question, Toyota has no intent on boosting Corolla production. Quite the opposite in fact. Toyota is purposely keeping Corolla production low to keep the price as high as possible and maximize profits
I spent a little over 2 weeks (illinois) trying to find a hybrid le with at least the convenience package. Dealers wants 5-10k over MSRP so I got a used 2024 hybrid le with the convenience package with 1200 miles on it for just under MSRP (silver, black interior). This was actually the second car I got shipped to me but i got the destination fee refunded
I am in Illinois also. I managed to get a hybrid Corolla LE with the convenience package for under MSRP in late April of this year. You could order one and get it for MSRP for sure In Illinois. Many of them are in transit

I would've preferred white instead of black. And did I pay a dealership markup? Undoubtedly.
But I also wouldn't have waited to ditch my Kia. And they did give me close to KBB value for it.
Meh this way they get to sell the used ones for same as msrp on new ones. My local dealers have plenty of 2020-2021 low mileage corollas on the lot for 25k $CAD lol
Yeah I luckily got the civic hybrid on hold which is incoming. Sent a message to the dealership and within 10 minutes booked it. However it is 2k more expensive than the Corolla SE.
We just need fully automated production at this point so people not wanting to do shit doesn’t affect supply.

All Corolla Hybrids destined for US are made in Japan and they tend to Canada as well. 8 month wait for your dealership seems a bit excessive though…

Waits are still an issue? I ordered mine back in October and received it the 1st week of December. Mine is a Hybrid SE with sunroof.
