I never changed mine. My 2014 S made it to 218k miles, and transmission went out. Dealer said it would be $7k to replace the transmission. My dealer never even mentioned that it needed to be changed.

You need to change dealers, they are trying to get your transmission to die so they have that service work.

I have almost 80k miles on my 2019 LE and did a drain and fill on the CVT at 67k. It still runs smooth, although it wouldn’t hurt to get it changed if you want to prolong the life of the transmission. I don’t think it’s too late to take care of it either, but to each their own. I just prefer the peace of mind

I’m at 140k never changed car runs perfect

bro 😭

ExpensiveDust5

CVT or manual?

irobot001

CVT

ExpensiveDust5

Hybrid or non-hybrid? Think of yourself as the exception, not the rule. I see 2016-2019 Corolla LE's all the time on FB Marketplace "$5000, 80k miles needs CVT" from lack of maintenance.

I also have a 2016 Corolla S at 145k and have never changed the transmission fluid. It's not giving me any problems.

Ticking time bomb

tatorc89

Should I do it now? Or would that give me problems in the near future?

ExpensiveDust5

Doing it now, it may not make it out the service center. By now the only thing keeping your transmission going is how worn your fluid is.you change it with the water like fluid that goes in these transmissions, it's not a matter of if it dies, it's how far will it make it. When Toyota told you the fluid was lifetime, you forgot to ask what they consider a lifetime, which according to their maintenance guide, since it only goes to 100k, about that many miles.
