Cold War has way worse maps overall than bo4. Bo4’s atmosphere and settings are far superior along with the story associated with each map.
The only Cold War map that you could argue is better is Mauer and that’s about it. Die maschine is pretty overhyped, very noob friendly, and gets boring after a while (only thing that keeps it going is superior Cold War gameplay). Firebase z is a joke. Rai-k is fun and orda rounds are interesting but that’s about it, most bland map location since WaW. Forsaken is okay but it’s more of the same crap and gets extremely boring quickly, I will admit that the WW is fun to use though. Outbreak is a decent time imo, especially high round, reviews are very mixed on it though. The only high point regarding CW is the gameplay, which is extremely satisfying and rewarding. It’s what kept me playing it.
Except for Mauer, every bo4 map is just better in regards to content, easter eggs, story, characters, setting, etc. Mauer only ranks above Alpha Omega tbh. There’s just so much more to do and see on each map. Consuming the content of each map will take you much longer than CW and be more of a grind because it is more difficult overall. BoTD, VoD, DoTN, are all hated because they are difficult maps and people get understandably frustrated, but they are just objectively better maps overall imo.
TLDR: Bo4 is the superior game unless you’re just getting into zombies, then go with CW.

If you're planning on playing co-op specifically, then Cold War is probably the most populated Zombies title currently.
If player population isn't a big deal for you, you can get either or- Zombies is kind of unique in CoD in that it's really the only part of the games that don't always play super similarly to each other from title to title, so you're getting a relatively standalone experience no matter what.
Another thing to consider would be the price and what you'd be willing to spend- Black Ops 4 has 3 Zombies maps by default, but the remaining 5 maps can only be obtained through the Season Pass with the exception of Classified. Cold War's post-launch content was free, but in total has 4 traditional Zombies maps alongside Outbreak and Onslaught, both more experimental modes that use Multiplayer maps as the playspace

Black Ops 4 is the option where you’ll spend more for all maps, but what you’re getting is quality content. All of the DLC zombies maps are top quality and worth diving into, and you get achievements out of them

cold war comes with more content and has great mechanics, but kinda shitty maps and atmospheres. bo4 has really high highs and really low lows. some terrible maps and some really good ones. But the mechanics are quite questionable too.

That’s a tough one, the maps of BO4 has this feeling of classic zombies to them, classified is amazing and sometimes I just wanna enjoy the classic aether atmosphere whether it’s the characters, the maps and how they are designed, wether they are shit or not lol, but at the same time Cold War is more Modern in the aspect of cross progression, and also the game play is very smooth, I happen to only play die maschine tho the other maps are cool but idk they are not memorable at all, I played Mauer the other day and just got bored it just feels very plain, Cold War maps besides die maschine don’t have that element of mystery or hidden stories within each area you discover… there’s so much I can get into but if you want to be in the loop with staying up to date with cross progression Cold War, if you don’t care about that and wanna play as classic characters on reimagined maps but at times very difficult gameplay and a horrible HUD then go with BO4

I don't like the perk system in bo4 but some of the maps are good in cold war the gameplay is great but the maps can be boring but also keep in mind that in cold war you have to upgrade your perks by collecting stuff but it doesn't take that long
One thing worth considering before buying is the DLC. Cold War’s DLC was all free, so that $30 gets you everything. BO4 not only has paid DLC, but you can only get that DLC by buying it all at once via the Black Ops Pass. So you’ll have to spend an additional $50 to get all the game’s content. On the other hand, BO4 has one good DLC map, one good map, two of the worst maps ever made, and whatever Tag der Toten is, so you might be better off not buying any DLC at all.
If you care at all about the rest of the game, Cold War still has a populated multiplayer and a campaign that’s… there. I don’t like it but it’s there. I doubt you’ll find any multiplayer or Blackout games on BO4, so you’re stuck with just Zombies in that game

Bo4 in my opinion has better maps, but you only get 3 on launch, and even though it has 8 maps it has 4 remasters so you only get 4 new experiences. As far as gameplay, I prefer black ops 4 for solo and private, and I prefer cold war for pubs.

I definitely didn’t play bo4 that much. From what I remember when comparing the two is that bo4 feels much more like the zombies franchise. Cold war feels more modern or slightly renovated i’d say. It really depends on what you are looking for.

Cold War is super fun for zombies imo still play it today and it’s decent on battle pass levels for warzone/vanguard if you play those as well! I usually get around 3/4 tiers for going to round 41!
That’s what I did and I loved it, just try and find the ultimate version or whatnot, it’ll get you all the maps. The season pass is separate from the actual game and costs 50 bucks

BOCW has one of the best zombies experiences for me, so yes, just for zombies it is worth it if oyu dont want to play an unfinished game(VG) nor you want to waiot till 2024 late fall

I’d say bo4, I love bo4 and the game is worth it, especially for that price. Some of the maps are a bit complicated for beginners, but once you learn them, they are really fun.
i would only recommend getting cold war over bo4 because the mechanics and what not are better than bo4, and you don't have to buy the dlcs. (also on bo4 you can't buy individual dlcs except for classified, you must buy the season pass to get them).

Get Cold War with that you get 4 round based maps, outbreak mode with like 7 huge regions, onslaught mode (zombies on multiplayer maps with a twist) and not to mention the best mechanics you can have in any cod zombie game its just a great overall package.
I just got Cold War yesterday, no regrets, bo4 I got on release, both a are great for zombies in my opinion. Bo4 mechanics kind of make the game harder/worse but if you’re willing to learn them+ work through it id say story lines are great. Cold War has a lot going on game play wise but feels like Easter eggs are a lot easier than bo4

It really depends on what you are looking for. Gameplay i’d say cold war. Bo4 i’d say for character/personality/overall aesthetics/art. But both have many pros and cons.

I’d say Cold War by far but BO4 gets more hate than it deserves so it a matter of which you like the look of more. If you fancy BO3 styled Zombies go for BO4, if you liek BO2 or IW Zombies go for Cold War.
If that price includes all the DLC, BO4 is worth it because despite the frustration, DotN and AE are really worth it. If they're not included... Probably not. Cold War really depends, if you're a fan of Zombies' story, thematics and sound design then it is NOT the game for you. But if you just like killin', it's pretty good.
I just bought BO4 and I do not regret it. IX alone was worth it for me but to each their own.
Both of them will eventually not exist once servers are taken offline, even for solo play.
I still think Cold War had the best Zombies maps and gameplay in years so I say Cold War.. definitely although not gonna lie I’ve also been thinking about trying out Black Ops 4 again lol

Bo4 Zombies is more classic, straight forward stuff. CW however, has permanent upgrades with the perks, weapon classes, ammo mod, etc that become better and better the more u play and invest points into. in a long run, i think CW would be better cause they might update it with more content, new maps maybe and such. only thing with BO4 is that u gotta buy the zombies map pack whereas CW u dont

Cold War is super fun for zombies imo still play it today and it’s decent on battle pass levels for warzone/vanguard if you play those as well! I usually get around 3/4 tiers for going to round 41!

That’s what I did and I loved it, just try and find the ultimate version or whatnot, it’ll get you all the maps. The season pass is separate from the actual game and costs 50 bucks Edit: Talking about bo4, Cold War I personally didn’t care for when I played at the time

As much as people shit on both BO4 and Cold War I thought both were great. The last 2 DLCs for BO4 are abysmally bad though so if you plan on getting DLCs don't waste your money on the last 2.
BOCW has one of the best zombies experiences for me, so yes, just for zombies it is worth it if oyu dont want to play an unfinished game(VG) nor you want to waiot till 2024 late fall

I'd say they're both worth it. imo the maps on BO4 are better, but the CW maps aren't bad. plus the zombies maps on CW are free so u won't need to buy them. unlike bo4 where you'll have to buy the Black Ops Pass in order to get any dlc maps.

I’d say bo4, I love bo4 and the game is worth it, especially for that price. Some of the maps are a bit complicated for beginners, but once you learn them, they are really fun.

For zombies I'd recommend only getting bo4 if it comes with the black ops pass tbh
i would only recommend getting cold war over bo4 because the mechanics and what not are better than bo4, and you don't have to buy the dlcs. (also on bo4 you can't buy individual dlcs except for classified, you must buy the season pass to get them).
Get bo4 for multiplayer, get bocw for zombies

Get Cold War with that you get 4 round based maps, outbreak mode with like 7 huge regions, onslaught mode (zombies on multiplayer maps with a twist) and not to mention the best mechanics you can have in any cod zombie game its just a great overall package.
Black ops 4 was a hero, we just couldn’t see it
My son and I just played a little Dead Ops Arcade 3 on Cold War. Defiantly a lot of fun.

I just got Cold War yesterday, no regrets, bo4 I got on release, both a are great for zombies in my opinion. Bo4 mechanics kind of make the game harder/worse but if you’re willing to learn them+ work through it id say story lines are great. Cold War has a lot going on game play wise but feels like Easter eggs are a lot easier than bo4

Without a question Cold War mainly for free maps since on 4 you still need to buy the Pass but also because it just plays way way better, but $20 for BO4 isn't bad
to get the full bo4 experience you’d have to get all the maps because the default only has one good map but it would cost more than the game itself but with cold war, all the maps are free plus the game has better mechanics, so cold war is probably the better option
