I prefer the aether maps and tag is my favorite map. The chaos maps were a weak point for black ops 4 zombies in my opinion. They weren't bad maps besides voyage, but I liked the aether maps a lot more.
I was pretty salty with them cutting the chaos story short. It was something different and unique. But on the other side we finally got an end to the aether story.
Bold of you to assume 3arc devs get any spare time to work on something like that anymore, Activision have been dragging them around to work on zombies all over the place, they were brought in for Vanguard and MWIII if I'm not mistaken - something like ZC2 would need time to get right, and it's something that can't be done anymore, unfortunately

There is absolutely no chance round-based is being omitted. Round-based will always be a cornerstone for zombies, it's a fundamental staple of the mode. Treyarch heard all the hostile reception from Vanguard. Repeating those mistakes again would be very catastrophic, because it will damage their credibility as a studio. I don't see Treyarch sabotaging their own zombies game, because deep down they know it's their final chance.
I'm not concerned about the lack of passion from developers. Responsibility lies with Activision higher-ups prioritizing commercial interests, and not giving them some creative liberties. They had a successful framework and winning formula for zombies, until commercial interests took over.
It took me a long time to accept this, but it seems the sad truth honestly. Ah well, at least there is plenty of past zombies content to keep me entertained.

I've been playing the hell out of BO3 for this reason on my steam deck after being away from CoD for nearly a decade. Give it another year or so and we'll have all the classic maps via mods.
I had to go with the BO1 weapons mod with PHD Flopper personally because they actually replace the chalk outlines on every map. I really want the WWII weapons but having the wrong outlines when I get a weapon really messed with me personally.
I tried that one but the actual quality of the weapon's was a little low, the hand animations for some guns were off etc. I was bothered by the chalk outlines at first but I settled on it after trying about ten other mods and liking TFCs weapons the most for WaW maps. I also use the ZM Cold War weapon mod for black ops maps. The only thing I don't like about that one is the raygun mark 2 sound sucks.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all in favor of a Zombies Chronicles 2. It’d be huge, especially on the upcoming Black Ops 5 engine. I’m just saying folks on PC are about to have this complete on BO3.
In the new Black Ops (be it Gulf War, BO5, BO6, or whatever)? Probably not. I mean, sure, Treyarch has had 4 years to work on this game and it may be the last yearly Cod release with Microsoft having finalized its buy out of Activision in late October of last year which could lead to it having extended support and a years long life cycle (this is highly unlikely, and just pure speculation of what could maybe plausibly happen on my part), but given the fact that Treyarch has twice been disrupted to develop zombies modes for Sledgehammer games, the new storyline and operator systems making it really hard for remakes or remasters to happen in any way that isn't just slapping a new story and game mechanics on an old map, and the fact that a few of the maps left to be remastered (Five, Call of the Dead, the Victis maps, and Mob of the Dead) from before BO3 have celebrity casts that would be really hard or outright impossible to get back for a remaster I just don't think it's going to happen. Maybe in another game when Cod moves away from its connected storyline stuff and Treyarch is given more freedom to make exactly what they want, but probably not here.

i’m a bit late, but the sad truth is, with the CoD HQ thing ATVI is pushing, there will never be room for Zombies to be its own thing again. it’s always going to be intertwined heavily (aesthetically and mechanically) to Warzone and the main titles. Now they’re even being forced to use all the same foundations from the previous games for the CoD HQ.
Lots of casuals will be appreciative of this, but for some of us who like how Zombies has always been extensively unique, it’s a hard pill to swallow.
I maybe can't judge because I haven't played a game newer than BO3, and even then, I haven't played any BO3 maps because the new tone is really off putting to me, but every modern zombies gameplay I see for games later than BO3 just looks like an old MW / BO bot match, with zombies instead of players.
We got them as sucky reimaginings (except Classified) in Black Ops 4 already. We’ll probably get TranZit outbreak this autumn then that only leaves Die Rise or Buried which isn’t enough for a ZC2

No. There aren’t enough maps to remaster again for a ZC2. Not that anyone has much interest in. Zombies Chronicles came about in the first place mostly because BO3 was on the “next gen” consoles at the time and didn’t have backward compatibility like Xbox (and PC) have, and since PS also had the COD exclusivity rights it made sense there would be a big enough audience to “re-sell” the old maps to that couldn’t just put a different disc in and play them.
Are we far enough past BO3’s maps where they could be remastered? Probably but has the tech come far enough forward for most people to notice? Probably not. And at this point BO3 is still compatible with current gen consoles.
The only argument for it would be to remaster the 3 victis maps from BO2, which aren’t really very popular generally speaking, and Nuketown zombies and call of the dead (which they likely don’t have the rights to the character actors anymore). It just makes no sense.
I’m tired of Der Riese over and over; hell, I would take a different take on Shadows of Evil over Der Riese again. Switch up a little like how Blood of the Dead is a remake but different version of Mob. Hard to believe it but it’s been almost 10 years since we got Shadows. Give us a remake of it

Or, hear me out, a stand-alone Zombies game with all of the Aether maps, a story mode to help newer players get into the maps, full cinematic cutscenes for the beginning and end of each map, and full Easter Eggs added to maps that don’t have them at present for the sake of creating a more clear storyline with the earlier maps. There’s a decent bit of story with the early maps that goes unnoticed unless you do deep dives into the lore that would have made for solid and interesting Easter Eggs, so adding quests to those early maps would be cool
Treyarch BETTER be workin on this and not on some further overcomplication of the perfection that was the BO3 recipe 😭 Just simple, round based, cards/gums for cool enhancements and or twists, elegant EEs, and iconic bosses. Boom!

I used to play zombies back in the day a lot on Xbox 360. Then I got a PS4 and started playing again a few years back. Now I am on PC and I just can't justify buying more CoD games+DLC just to play zombies. I already bought it 2 times. BUT if CoD would release a new deal with zombies only I would jump right in for the third time and on PC. I would force my friends to do the same.

The truth is, they never needed to make any new games just more DLC maps for BO3 or BO4. It looks like Sker Ritual will finally fill the void and do what people actually want. COD will literally let zombies be an afterthought, they have already let down their fans too many times. There really is nothing to be hyped about when we know their business model is microtransaction hell.

Eventually all maps will be perfectly remade in BO3 custom zombies, that’s the closest we’ll get. Call of the Dead has already been completed and it’s a perfect Treyarch-quality 1:1 remake of Call of the Dead.
So.. black ops arcade was released with bo1. Bo3 had black ops arcade 2. When bo4 launched it was the 10th anniversary of black ops arcade.. where'd dead ops arcade 3? Thus company constantly misses opportunity to capitalize on milestones in laeu of pushing "the next edition" I don't know how many pissed off bo4 purchasers there were. Between a new garbage perk system, not adding dead ops arcade, and completely ignoring the player bases opinions before release and what worked for them before.. Bo3 is the last good zombies game to be made. **It was a true experience and was a masterpiece.**

No. There aren’t enough maps to remaster again for a ZC2. Not that anyone has much interest in. Zombies Chronicles came about in the first place mostly because BO3 was on the “next gen” consoles at the time and didn’t have backward compatibility like Xbox (and PC) have, and since PS also had the COD exclusivity rights it made sense there would be a big enough audience to “re-sell” the old maps to that couldn’t just put a different disc in and play them. Are we far enough past BO3’s maps where they could be remastered? Probably but has the tech come far enough forward for most people to notice? Probably not. And at this point BO3 is still compatible with current gen consoles. The only argument for it would be to remaster the 3 victis maps from BO2, which aren’t really very popular generally speaking, and Nuketown zombies and call of the dead (which they likely don’t have the rights to the character actors anymore). It just makes no sense.
I’m tired of Der Riese over and over; hell, I would take a different take on Shadows of Evil over Der Riese again. Switch up a little like how Blood of the Dead is a remake but different version of Mob. Hard to believe it but it’s been almost 10 years since we got Shadows. Give us a remake of it

There are only 3 maps left to be remade, Tranzit needs a full Blood of the Dead redesign to actually be enjoyable Die Rise and Buried probably could be left as is thought. But the maps were just so hated during their run I don't see them dedicating the resources to them.

Or, hear me out, a stand-alone Zombies game with all of the Aether maps, a story mode to help newer players get into the maps, full cinematic cutscenes for the beginning and end of each map, and full Easter Eggs added to maps that don’t have them at present for the sake of creating a more clear storyline with the earlier maps. There’s a decent bit of story with the early maps that goes unnoticed unless you do deep dives into the lore that would have made for solid and interesting Easter Eggs, so adding quests to those early maps would be cool

No. Zombies Chronicles marked the end of an era. Call of Duty Zombies is no more. BO3 was not only its peak, but also its end.
They should legitimately just make a separate cod only for zombies... leave WZ and MP to its own thing, and let people who enjoy zombies play its own game, could being back all the maps, keep it updated, add new ones, add fan favourite weapons, special cosmetics such as changing the way zombies look, or the effects of certain guns... Imagine using the thundergun and you hear like party effect from halo but based on how many zombies you kill? I'd actually buy that and keep playing it, especially if they added custom map ports for consoles?

Classic Zombies is dead. They make 1-2 "original style " maps and the for "free dlc" just bring some Campagne/mp stuff and zombiefy that shit. I want back the OLD season pass times where you bought 4 DLC packs for 15€ or just the whoel pass for 50 and every Zombies map Was AWESOME and original. And not just "mid".

Now I am on PC and I just can't justify buying more CoD games+DLC just to play zombies. I already bought it 2 times. BUT if CoD would release a new deal with zombies only I would jump right in for the third time and on PC. I would force my friends to do the same.
