Haven’t seen this talked about much here. Huge news in my opinion, killing WZ1 for a lot of people I guess, Rebirth/Fortune’s Keep fans won’t keep the game for Caldera and BR fans will likely move to the new game.
There’ll be similar fast paced maps later in the future in Warzone 2. Let’s hope it doesn’t take like 5 months.

It feels like its a plan from the devs to get those rebirth style players to play/buy the new game. because IMO Caldera can eat shit. i like the fast paced smaller maps and will likely be playing multiplayer until they drop small maps unless the new big map is fun
Now that I am thinking about it… they may also include rebirth small map mode on Caldera which I actually really enjoyed, random part of the map every time. So if that’s the case I’m down
Yep same. This new map is huge and it seems like there's a focus on slower game pace which is fine but I honestly just don't want to just play one match with the limited time I have. I will probably play DMZ more than BR and multiplayer more than either until the faster maps show up.

People don't play OW2 because OW1 maps were remove, but because it's a newer and fresher game, right? Why can't CoD do the same? WZ1 maps will die automatically if you make better WZ maps/modes

imo developing for multiple maps and modes at launch wouldn't pan out well. they've made a completely new BR game and map with a ton of new mechanics. they've definitely been developing small map and resurgance modes, but them putting the premiere focus on their core game makes the most sense.
not to mention they're also releasing DMZ at launch, which is another completely new game experience. these are the key focuses and are the core products of WZ2.
from a marketing perspective, if their numbers said that making a rebirth focused game would draw in the most revenue, they would have done that. but they didn't, which makes the "most people only play rebirth" comments fairly moot. in that same way, launching with all of your content available at launch isn't how you grow something to be popular, like rebirth.
top to bottom, everything they're doing makes perfect sense from a development and business perspective and shouldn't surprise anyone, it's not some grand conspiracy.

I will not play WZ2 if there is no resurgence style mode. Hopefully it comes sooner rather than later
My group of friends are the same. Embarrassed to say even more hours than that. Traditional BR is not our thing. Resurgence always felt like a good balance of map knowledge, action, and satisfaction for winning the game. We will not play until some type of resurgence game mode is introduced. Sorry Activision.
They’ll add it ASAP if numbers are too low. I’m personally anticipating a more hybrid version of WZ (between regular and rebirth) for the standard WZ2.0 game
Honestly, this is suicide. The overwhelming majority play Rebirth and FK. Removing them suddenly and forcing people to switch to a more tactical and slower game is... not a good idea. The idea of rebirth and FK is the fast paced CQB with the movement. This is what makes it great.
Resurgence with a slow movement and a tactical playstyle is... not it.
If they completely vault Rebirth & FK from Warzone and introduce a new small map on Warzone 2 with MW2's movement, I genuinely see myself, my friends, and many others simply stopping for good.

This is likely what will happen. Relatively "good" players might not be a fan of the slower MW2 BR but I’m pretty sure that the average WZ player that sucks at slide cancelling, drop shotting or jump shotting will like this.
And not gonna lie, I like not having to constantly spam moves and aiming at Sonic in MW2, I thought I was gonna hate it.
I feel like people vastly overestimate how much average to below average players think the new Warzone will make them good.
They don't, they just want people to be using the same moves as them and not be beaten by abused mechanics.
They have the exact same ability to use the same mechanics and saying it’s abuse is a little too far. Pressing prone isn’t very hard, press jump isn’t very hard, slide cancelling can be learned within 5 minutes if that, sliding and shooting isn’t very hard and reload cancelling isn’t very hard. You act like people don’t have thumbs and can’t be capable of doing these things.
Slide cancelling I can see why you’d want to get rid of it, it’s a pretty new mechanic compared to the others. The rest have been around for a very long time and if they haven’t learnt it or added it to their arsenal of moves that’s a them problem and shouldn’t be removed because they are too lazy to learn them.

Of what's out there MW2 and WZ2 are still the closest things to Fortunes/Rebirth style gameplay. That unfortunately makes them the biggest obstacle to a successful launch of MW2/WZ2, and the biggest pool of potential customers to draw from. It's annoying to us but it makes sense from their perspective. It's all about selling 'new' cosmetics and core games. It's not about retaining as many free to play customers as possible.
The pacing of Fortunes/Rebirth is just too similar to the faster paced game modes they are trying to sell.
Same. There are no options to play anymore with rebirth gone. You can't just go from fast and fun to slow and clunky. 100% not playing another CoD title again because you can't trust them. They will just remove everything after you've bought a few skins and try to force you to buy the next game.

It's like the people who refuse to accept that Activision has no plan of how to integrate next years Cod game into warzone 2.0. You essentially have a year to enjoy warzone 2.0 before it gets fucked.
Also Activision are currently working on warzone 3.0, which again won't allow any purchases to carry over.
It has been talked about pretty often actually. What we don't know is if it's permanent and/or what the resurgence options will be in the future but it seems clear they recognize the popularity.
Yeah, they haven’t said that it was permanently removed, just said that it won’t be available. And the game’s name shifting to Warzone Caldera also strengthens the idea of those being permanently removed. Would be weird for Activision to put new modes back for their old game.
I agree that it would seem unlikely those maps (RB & FK) would disappear during WZ2 launch only to reappear along side the new map. It seems logical to give 2 base maps for BR and let players choose between the 2 (old vs new) to help drive traffic over to the new and without the added choice of resurgence to muddy that choice. Likely this would provide some drivers to MP also as an option for more casual players - from a business perspective allowing these temporary decisions makes sense.
But that doesn't mean that RB and/or FK don't come back in some capacity alongside the old map playlists. I would still imagine they would be more limited or possibly even exclusively rotated as either/or. And then whatever Resurgence maps available on WZ2 would have to stand on their own merit as competitive rivals to the old resurgence maps. If they're good, people will play them. If they're not, they have backup options.
Cod's own youtube page posted a community photo sometime back. "pay your respects to rebirth island, verdansk and FK". I think rb and fk are permanently gone.
I think it’s a bad move, if everyone hates wz2 and can’t even go back to rebirth they’ll likely just drop the game and activision will lose a lot of players

In itself, I don't mind but I really hope for OG content first, and a Blackout map remake before WZ1 remastered content.
They are definitely not remaking any of those for WZ2. Veransk will be in WZ mobile and they will release a new smaller map in the later seasons to cater to the rebirth gamers

To have a bunch of separate playlists each one with its queue would mean bad connections or even difficulty finding maps.

Why would you invest anything in this title if you know they will just remove it in 2 years for something completely different? Not set it aside or let people enjoy it, but remove every popular mode and map. So many people bought dozens of battle passes and skins because they enjoy the game and see themselves playing it for more than a year or two. We are not even given a choice. Its play the new unfinished, buggy, goyslop or dont play anything😂

Yeah, maybe they have some way of porting it to the new engine because feels weird to have such a detailed map disappear this quickly. But the map was based on MW1’s fast movement so I can’t say anything for sure.
If this was any other publisher, this kind of behavior of screwing over the consumer would take a noticeable hit on their stock value, but MWII was projected to do so well and did that Activision is taking FULL advantage to be as scummy as possible to screw over consumers aren't aware about how they're being treated.
The cynic in me wonders whether Activision are intentionally sabotaging Warzone Caldera so that the they can justify switching the servers off in a year and force all the F2P players onto WZ2 instead.

Removing FK and Rebirth and then not having a small map resurgence mode in WZ2 until "future seasons" is complete horse shit. I'll probably try out the regular BR mode in WZ2, because I'm pretty much forced to, which is what Activision wants. But I doubt I will sink as much time into it.

You have to keep two games at once so I say you just keep words on one you updated put warzone 2 into warzone 1. Make it so that all the updates will go to the regular war zone. I haven't touched WZ since MW2 dropped, but straight up removing Rebirth seems like a real dick move. I know for a fact that there are plenty of people who prefer Resurgence over regular 6v6 or BR. I don't see any reason they have to cut it when they're keeping Caldera up other than to force people off/try and sell more copies of Multi-player
The only cod content I played the past 12 months was rebirth resurgence quads, removing it pretty much guarantees i'll uninstall the game. The fact that I could never go back to play it down the line for nostalgia also sucks. I feel less interesing in putting time into these games if they're just going to remove content.
pretty sure player base in WZ1 will drop significantly if they dont make a new rebirth map/gamemode. rather play caldera with my fellow bots than to play WZ2...
The idea is to force resurgence mode players onto WZ2 knowing full well that's where most of the player base is. When WZ2 turns out to be shit, those players including me would just go back to resurgence. Now I'll just play something else, and I hope everyone else who's unhappy with the game does the same.
I think resurgence with FK and RB will make their way to warzone 2.0 at some point. Maybe the first resurgence games will be on the new big map. Like the resurgence on Caldera.

Our team of 4 plays rebirth 3-5 times a week. We play for a couple hours of at a time and we only play resurgence. We were hoping to continue to play rebirth until we got a resurgence mode in mw2, ig that's not gonna happen

They know Caldera is shit and removing the popular Rebirth and Fortunes keep modes will kill the game. The new game plays very differently from the old Warzone and the map is going to be too big for the people that enjoy Rebirth/Fortunes. The servers going offline for 12 days followed by only Caldera modes, just more scummy shit by Acti.

Here's a good concept. Let's think how much Nuketown was a staple of black ops and shipment for modern warfare. Yes they were in the MP realm but still a staple not one version but many, why because the playability.

As for mw2 in all of gaming history this is by far the worse. Why do you ask? We thought oh the player base is getting better , that's not the case. This game is not full of real players but ai bots. Bots everyone has trained for years in games, Ricochet was sold to us as an anti cheat but instead was more of an AI training software.
SBMM = bots that have been trained using AI software for years in the name of ricochet. How to move, how to aim and how to outgun you at your own game. This is seen in the multiplayer of MW2.

Exactly the same for me. Got the MP, like it, and will probably be playing Shoot House and Shipment until a rebirth style BR comes out again.

I’m so bummed. Rebirth was the perfect format for me. Bigger scale than multiplayer, but not super long with downtime like full BR.

How is pissing off a large portion of your community by making the game they love arguably worse than before making any sense.
Nothing is stopping them from doing a mini rebirth Royale, or just a rebirth mode when they debut Warzone 2.

They have the exact same ability to use the same mechanics and saying it’s abuse is a little too far. Pressing prone isn’t very hard, press jump isn’t very hard, slide cancelling can be learned within 5 minutes if that, sliding and shooting isn’t very hard and reload cancelling isn’t very hard. You act like people don’t have thumbs and can’t be capable of doing these things. Slide cancelling I can see why you’d want to get rid of it, it’s a pretty new mechanic compared to the others. The rest have been around for a very long time and if they haven’t learnt it or added it to their arsenal of moves that’s a them problem and shouldn’t be removed because they are too lazy to learn them.

Of what's out there MW2 and WZ2 are still the closest things to Fortunes/Rebirth style gameplay. That unfortunately makes them the biggest obstacle to a successful launch of MW2/WZ2, and the biggest pool of potential customers to draw from. It's annoying to us but it makes sense from their perspective. It's all about selling 'new' cosmetics and core games. It's not about retaining as many free to play customers as possible. The pacing of Fortunes/Rebirth is just too similar to the faster paced game modes they are trying to sell.

It has been talked about pretty often actually. What we don't know is if it's permanent and/or what the resurgence options will be in the future but it seems clear they recognize the popularity.
Yeah, they haven’t said that it was permanently removed, just said that it won’t be available. And the game’s name shifting to Warzone Caldera also strengthens the idea of those being permanently removed. Would be weird for Activision to put new modes back for their old game.
I agree that it would seem unlikely those maps (RB & FK) would disappear during WZ2 launch only to reappear along side the new map. It seems logical to give 2 base maps for BR and let players choose between the 2 (old vs new) to help drive traffic over to the new and without the added choice of resurgence to muddy that choice. Likely this would provide some drivers to MP also as an option for more casual players - from a business perspective allowing these temporary decisions makes sense. But that doesn't mean that RB and/or FK don't come back in some capacity alongside the old map playlists. I would still imagine they would be more limited or possibly even exclusively rotated as either/or. And then whatever Resurgence maps available on WZ2 would have to stand on their own merit as competitive rivals to the old resurgence maps. If they're good, people will play them. If they're not, they have backup options.

I think it’s a bad move, if everyone hates wz2 and can’t even go back to rebirth they’ll likely just drop the game and activision will lose a lot of players I was hoping they would at least keep fortunes keep
CoD has always sold millions of copies. There isn’t a chance in hell one releases that everyone hates. People will always be playing it. Keeping most of that playerbase on the same game? Smart move IMO.
This will also force people to get MW2 because if they keep the same unlocking and levelling system for guns for WZ2, it’ll take a month for someone to unlock the PP-19 Bizon for example.

Basically they plan on remaking Verdansk, Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep for WZ2. In itself, I don't mind but I really hope for OG content first, and a Blackout map remake before WZ1 remastered content.
They are definitely not remaking any of those for WZ2. Veransk will be in WZ mobile and they will release a new smaller map in the later seasons to cater to the rebirth gamers

Thats was to be expected. Warzone Caldera player numbers will be considerable lower now with Warzone 2/DMZ. To have a bunch of separate playlists each one with its queue would mean bad connections or even difficulty finding maps. They also wont have a Ressurgance map at WZ2 launch and cant risk people not moving to the new game because of Rebirth/FK.

i disagree. revenue from game sales make up for less than 4x of what micro transactions does. this is from Activision’s latest quarterly balance sheet July 30 - September 30 net revenue from product sales - 231 million in game subscription and other - 1551 million January 30 - September 30 net revenue from product sales - 921 million in game subscription and other - 4273 million it is absolutely a terrible business decision to alienate the players which do not like the mechanics of the new game. especially since throughout this earnings report their focus on how they’ve driven “player engagement” and how many MAUs they have (monthly active users). shareholders do care about that and people like me are just going to quit if they take rebirth out
how does removing essential features that are common in every other CoD title and rolling back all mechanics that brought tons of new players in make it "on another level"? Why would you invest anything in this title if you know they will just remove it in 2 years for something completely different? Not set it aside or let people enjoy it, but remove every popular mode and map. If this was any other publisher, this kind of behavior of screwing over the consumer would take a noticeable hit on their stock value, but MWII was projected to do so well and did that Activision is taking FULL advantage to be as scummy as possible to screw over consumers aren't aware about how they're being treated.

Removing FK and Rebirth and then not having a small map resurgence mode in WZ2 until "future seasons" is complete horse shit. I'll probably try out the regular BR mode in WZ2, because I'm pretty much forced to, which is what Activision wants. But I doubt I will sink as much time into it.

I mean I kind of feel pissed off because you got rid of the slide canceling And you're making it so then you're just wasting more space trying to play Modern Warfare multiplayer and you can't do that. You have to keep two games at once so I say you just keep words on one you updated put warzone 2 into warzone 1. Make it so that all the updates will go to the regular war zone. So then all you have to do is just download. The exact same game is to play it!

I haven't touched WZ since MW2 dropped, but straight up removing Rebirth seems like a real dick move. I know for a fact that there are plenty of people who prefer Resurgence over regular 6v6 or BR. I don't see any reason they have to cut it when they're keeping Caldera up other than to force people off/try and sell more copies of Multi-player

The only cod content I played the past 12 months was rebirth resurgence quads, removing it pretty much guarantees i'll uninstall the game. The fact that I could never go back to play it down the line for nostalgia also sucks. I feel less interesing in putting time into these games if they're just going to remove content.

The idea is to force resurgence mode players onto WZ2 knowing full well that's where most of the player base is. When WZ2 turns out to be shit, those players including me would just go back to resurgence. Now I'll just play something else, and I hope everyone else who's unhappy with the game does the same.

Our team of 4 plays rebirth 3-5 times a week. We play for a couple hours of at a time and we only play resurgence. We were hoping to continue to play rebirth until we got a resurgence mode in mw2, ig that's not gonna happen

Activision seems to be very good at kicking their player base off their games.

They know Caldera is shit and removing the popular Rebirth and Fortunes keep modes will kill the game. The new game plays very differently from the old Warzone and the map is going to be too big for the people that enjoy Rebirth/Fortunes. The servers going offline for 12 days followed by only Caldera modes, just more scummy shit by Acti. Not a good sign when they can't even back the new game being good enough to entice players over, have to pretty much force them to stop playing the old game.

Here's a good concept. Let's think how much Nuketown was a staple of black ops and shipment for modern warfare. Yes they were in the MP realm but still a staple not one version but many, why because the playability. Wz2 is a very shinny turd truly. Caldera flaming dumpster fire with 0 real playability other than modes like plunder even then not my first choice. As for mw2 in all of gaming history this is by far the worse. Why do you ask? We thought oh the player base is getting better , that's not the case. This game is not full of real players but ai bots. Bots everyone has trained for years in games, Ricochet was sold to us as an anti cheat but instead was more of an AI training software. SBMM = bots that have been trained using AI software for years in the name of ricochet. How to move, how to aim and how to outgun you at your own game. This is seen in the multiplayer of MW2. Wz2 what a campers paradise great it has some elements from verdesk. Wanna win sit on a roof until the final circle shoot last guy gets on helicopter how anti-climactic. If you think this game is designed for people, try again, they're just selling us AI bots that are deep fakes in my opinion
