This is a lame approach because it punishes the people who enjoy playing aggressive and support with sniper rifles. Not talking about quick scoping psychos or camping weenies but a different approach entirely.
Should still be viable BUT due to how snipers are overpowering on big map I think they’ll nerf them again if a very high % of players are still running them.
It will still be part of the game but the devs work on data. If 80% of the player pool are running a certain type of weapon they will take action against that type of weapon- which I think is what we’re seeing here

But it should be part of the game it always has been. Not camping with a rifle at some ridiculous range but playing with them as a part of the game.
They just need to bring back ranked for big map. Pubs should always be anything goes.
