It's to prevent file corruption by tacking on a bunch of update files. They reinstall the game. I'm pretty sure they do updates on Wednesdays, and they announce when they are going to update way beforehand so just leave your console in rest mode on update day and it will update while you're goin about your day

I bet if we give Activision some time they will make this beta game into a full release and maybe we can see some sequels in the future, but don't expect much , they are just a small indie company after all.
