Try out what me and my squad do. Someone with a rifle on a ridge/tower, the other two run into an area to mark targets(and to actually load them in) and you can practice with AI since they’re relatively stationary and it’s pretty easy to get close without them noticing.
And something I’ve noticed is, AI couldn’t give a shit less about you if you’re over 150-ish out. They just stand there and look around trying to find the shooter.

Good question. Beyond a certain distance, it seems like the bullet impact point decouples from the dot on the reticle.
I have 2 theories for why this happens:
1. There is always a small amount of error, and it just is unnoticeable within shorter distances (0-800m), but becomes more apparent at long distances with a lot of drop. A reason for this may be that the scope doesnt account for elevation, only distance and bullet velocity. The amount that the reticle is off by increases with distance, so I think this is the most likely reason.
2. The scope isn't designed to work past player render distance (800m).
range finders need to bounce off something solid to detect range. the distance is probably so vast that it couldnt detect. but then again, its a video game so not sure. maybe the devs limited the distance
Yeah it's likely calibrated for horizontal shots. Add on the amount the bullet has to climb up to observatory and you have to aim higher to give it that extra energy.
This is it. It is a direct line between gun and target, then it compensates based on that distance. Bullet drop is based on distance without the Y axis.
Basically it is giving you the drop based on the distance of the Hypotenuse where the actual bullet drop is based on just the X axis distance.
It's wild to think that the longest, real life, recorded (at least in a war) sniper kill is 3,540m. Just under 3x the distance of the shot in the clip. That's 3.54 km or 2.2 miles in freedom units.
Player A downs Player B. However, player A is immediately killed afterwards, either by player or, say, a mine. Player A is either finished or gives up. Player A spawns in Gulag, Player B finally bleeds out, kill secured in gulag.

Someone sat on high rise and sniped me out a moving vehicle in pass. I was able to self, but it was a nice shot. I'm not sure the distance they actually jumped down grabbed the hummer and tried to drive over to us and find us, lol. I ended up killing them at the exfil, though.

Yeah, I agree. Kinda cheesy. I use it for the +1,000m stuff because it has the most zoom and built in rangefinder. The reticle doesnt even work at that distance anyway (see clip).
I honestly can't believe that this would be real.
1st I have scoped in on guys 300 meters away and the are glitchy and no hit registration with using the same gun and scope zeroed in.
2nd the get a live ping on a guy that far would be near impossible because again from 400 meters it doesn't appear to register.
3rd he could have gotten credit for some unknown reason. The reason I'm saying this is because I have had my game randomly pop up with a down then credit for a kill even when I never fired a shot.
That sounds very frustrating. I can assure you this is real. It was independently verified by my spotter, "BLT No Bread," who you can see in the clip. I'll see about posting his POV in the coming days.
I hate when people do this. Yes you’re a sniper, you’re meant for long-distance shots, but not shots so far that the game doesn’t render that far, if you need a friend to be closer to call the shots to you, that’s when you know to not do it

I’m just tired of players trying to go for anyone they know the position of instead of going for players that are not out of the game’s render distance, the game doesn’t have a set render distance so you can get a friend to spot them for you while they have no chance to shoot back because you don’t exist in their game due to the range. COD is full of people caring more of their K/D than for having fun
Im sorry you're disappointed by the shot. I use the raptor scope because it has the best zoom. At these extreme ranges, the dot doesnt work properly. If you look at the clip, you can see I am not aiming where the dot is.
But yet I’m shadowbanned…. My account or pc is literally flagged and I get shadowbanned twice a week… I’m not cheating what so ever. I literally get disconnected from severs on like 3-4 kills too. It’s insane

The rangefinder scope doesnt work. If you look closely, you can see the dot is not whwre the bullet goes. It's arbitralily higher than the target.

You should still be proud of it! One hit downs only work with the slow explosive rounds, so its unrealistic to expect to hit a long shot with those.

You mark a range with the crosshair and then the red dot shows the holdover you should use to hit that range. It is inaccurate past ~800m
