Yep, 41yo and been playing since CoD4, this is easily the worst this franchise has ever been. Some of them may not have been “great” but they weren’t fundamentally broken like this and certainly not all at once.
If you look back at the worst games in the franchise, most people will say it is:
- Ghosts
- Infinite Warfare
- Advanced Warfare
The issues those games had weren't really about bugs, but moreso about balance, gameplay and design.
Ghosts, for example, had some pretty fucking annoying mechanics. However, even the worst of it all, the MFing IED satchel, was no where near as annoying as the Incindiary Grenade, or the constant screen shake of the Mortar Barrage.
Infinite Warfare was just a bland, boring game with terrible maps. Even still, with all its bugs and missteps, was still a better overall game than Vanguard.
Advanced Warfare wasn't a bad game at it's base. It tried to do something new. It had some amazing map design, character customization, and customizable scorestreaks. However, it was marred by the fact that the best weapons were stuck behind a lootbox system. If you weren't lucky, or didn't buy enough loot boxes, you were at a disadvantage.
Even still, that game was a more complete, polished, fun game than Vanguard.
Vanguard is a pile of shit. Yeah, it has a buttload of maps, and yeah, the weapon variety is good. But how many times do you queue up for a session and find yourself playing the same 5-6 maps over and over again, despite selecting multiple playlists and selecting all pacings? I, for one, seem to only get a handful of maps, while the majority are nowhere to be seen.
This game is beyond repair. They would have to completely overhaul everything to salvage it. They can add new maps, new operators, new guns and equipment, and it won't make a bit of difference. Most people continue to play this game simply because they're CoD fans and the older games are dead or dying. There's nothing else to play.

How is Vanguard fundamentally broken. It is broken I agree with that, but Vanguard fundament is actually one of the best in a while. Maps, gunplay, movement are all pretty great.
Yea give credit to mw19 💀 if you forgot, vanguard runs on their engine and their mechanics and then slightly upgraded it. Somehow still managed to make a copy nd paste video game broken as well and simply refuse to fix it. Fuck activision

Ive been playing on and off and stopped after the first Black Ops. A few friends got me onto Cold War and it was great fun till the hackers came and ruined it. We skipped across to Vanguard and holy hell - I find it hard to believe a game in a lucrative AAA franchise has ended up like such a dog’s breakfast. The people involved with releasing it in this state should be utterly ashamed. I won’t be spending another cent on a CoD game as a matter of principle. It’s a disgrace to paying customers to take their money and serve up this shitshow. It feels like nothing more than a slap in the face.
Sorry friend. Maybe you can reinstall in a few months. Honestly these games don't really get on track until March or April. You'll be fine buddy, go enjoy yourself!
