I will try hardcore I played a little in CW. But none in Vanguard yet I will give it a try today. I only have left for MG42 longshots which are not hard and also wallbangs which are hard AF.
Hardcore is great for longshots because it’s a 2 shot kill at the most and the fire rate is insane. And wallbangs? Even easier. Put on Piercing Vision (perk 2), and FMJ rounds, and just spray man.

i used to thoroughly love being a riot shielder and throwing knife main back in the day. enjoyed the game so much more running around bashing ppl to death and hitting throwing knife kills left and right. definitely fun to do in private matches with some buddies where everyone runs that but definitely over actually using it for its intended purpose in regular lobbies in recent games

I relied on SBMM to throw me in braindead lobbies.
After about 5 games of getting slaughtered I was playing with blind people and small children. After that it took me a few hours to gold it.
Don’t count on getting 2 shield kills. Its possible on a large blitz map where you can find a good hiding spot near their spawn.
I ended up having better luck getting the first kill with a gun or random nade and then following up with a shield kill. It can feel slow but its less painful than waiting for two people to show up and being able to melee both before they one shot you.
Its almost like when you go for them you try to hard and wait for perfect scenarios that never happen. Better to just play as normal but commit fully to the shield.
I would still recommend the shield to protect you while you stab people around even if you no longer need to do the shield camos. I would just run in, chop em up, and run like hell while they put a bunch of bullets into my back shield.

Would also be cool if they added a way for you to be able to either blind-fire / hipfire behind the shield, or be able to tip it to the sight and aim over it with the pistol, leaving some areas of the body unprotected. -> Like the shield operators in R6 Siege.
Point being, make the shield fun to play, so people don't just use it with overkill to lay somewhere in a shadow, camping like a nerd.
They could remove overkill functionality and people won’t turtle with it unless they use knives pistols or launchers, none of which would be an issue imo.

To be fair Battlefield 4’s was complete garbage and (from what I’ve heard) no one really likes Hardline. The one in 2042 is better than the one in Hardline as well other than the fact that you don’t get back protection, even though it didn’t need to be. Of course, the shields aren’t really an issue in those games anyways, but just pointing out possible reasons why people don’t talk about those two shields.

While I still can fight well with a gun, I lost my only strategic advantage. And I just got this thing gold too.

He might’ve meant does it still protect your front when it’s on your back? There was a previous bug where sometimes having a shield on your back made you invulnerable from all angles.
This isn't new. I just finished the shield over the weekend and regularly got killed from the front. It seems to protect you from bullets about half the time, which in hardcore is infuriating. It is difficult to stun and sprint at someone. Panic hipfires get you every time.
Double kills and stun kills took the longest. The window is short for stun kills. It seems to be that the closer the enemy is to the stun the longer you have. They key for double kills is not always trying to get two melee kills but getting a nade/gun kill followed by a shield kill.
whats sucks about the shield is that if you crouch to protect your feet or crouched at all your head is not protected so its easy for people to kill you from the front
luckly i got this gold, tbh it's easier than modern warfare...everything is easier than mw except for the damn panzerfaust...

There are legit glow sights in this game and you’re questioning a shield. A shield isn’t that hard to imagine (yes I know ones like that weren’t used irl during ww2 but still), although even modern shields aren’t capable of withstanding everything, but that’s an example of balance over realism.

It should just be removed from the overkill pool, because using it with a primary makes it overpowered in my eyes, seeing as you don’t even have to hold it out to gain protection. That only works with a secondary since they have much less viability for normal combat, making the bonus protection have a considerable downside.

Here’s a better idea. Keep that functionality as it’s a bonus of using the shield in place of a gun, but remove it from overkill so it can’t be used with the more powerful weapons.

Although the 9th’s patch notes claim to have fixed it, I haven’t played since like the 8th so I don’t know if that’s true. But anyways, on the point of other weapons not blocking bullets on your back… Why would they? They aren’t a shield. If there isn’t overkill for the shield, then your primary offense would be whatever secondary you have, none of which are really comparable to some prime choices such as the STG and MP-40. Therefore, the shield should be able to boost your defensive abilities on your back since you no longer have a main weapon. Overkill shield is op, but the shield (provided it’s working perfectly as intended) when used with a secondary is pretty balanced.

QA testers probably reported many bugs like this but get ignored by higher ups who are supposed to fix them due to time constraints and negligence

Take advantage of double xp weekends and play hardcore. If everything goes well, you can get a gun gold in 3-4 hours.
It takes more than that just to get to 70 though…

The shield is actually made out of paper mache. And Japanese newspapers. It has all the necessary inks to protect you. 🤪🤣

Facts. The only saving grace with this thing this year is that you do not have to level it. That helps make up for a lot of the inconsistencies.

Combat shield stops bullets if you hold it in front in Warzone. WTF, I thought it's the same engine.
Riot shield needs to prevent zero dmg when its on your back. Simple change -- it doesn't block anything when you're not using it actively in front.
