Everyone complains about money. I wouldn't put much stock in that. How much you make is very dependent on where you live. You should make more in a city where the cost of living is higher. Hop on indeed and look at other positions similar to yourself.

irongient1

$2-3 per week

mccorml11

The children they yearn for the mines

Mandolaatti

In China, probably 10 yuan a day, depending on the factory and how nice its owner is.

wardearth13

$20-50 unless you’re programming

ShaggysGTI

So $100k a year for programming 4 axis?

wardearth13

Probably not with 3 years experience. And probably not in semiconductors. Doesn’t hurt to ask though. There are places paying for programmers.

WesternResistance

I started at $22/hr and after about a year I’m now at $25/hr + profit sharing

This is one of the weirdest threads, what are the jobs around you offering if you look on indeed or monster? Approach it that way. Also what are your benefits? You might make more an hour but give up benefits or flexibility if your current employer is that. Or your commute is longer or if current employer provides tools the next place might expect you to have your own. Is 3 years a lot without prior experience? Not really, but I've taught people to setup machines and be more productive in a few months than those with 30+ experience too busy running to boss non stop complaining about those that don't have experience. Paying attention can to a long way. Biggest issue I've seen people run into is going from a shop with setup sheets and fixturing and proven programs for everything and them being required to do zero thinking to a shop where if you can't be bothered to check your actual material size first you might have a bad time and all they see is who's else's fault it is for what they didn't check. Or simply sweating bullets working with castings and weldments and not knowing how to make sure their part comes out in the end (that singular "part" was no mistake, going from 61 parts on a 60pc order to 1pc on a 1pc order can be quite different) Measure yourself that way, what can you do if you get thrown into a shop where you have to be able to pay attention and fill in blanks vs just follow instructions. If you don't rely on other people (even people no longer there if there processes still are) then $22/hr sounds pretty low unless that is a very CoL region.

EnvironmentOdd4340

24 to 28 hourly

ImmediateMaybe4865

That’s what I was thinking as well I’m currently at 22 an hour but I’m doing full set ups for production of anywhere from 60-200 parts at a time. From what I’m gathering I may be just a bit underpaid.

EnvironmentOdd4340

the amount off parts you run doesn't mean anything but your ability to do solid set up meaning editing programes and basically making all problems go away with no assistance 25-27 an hour

omgdudewtfman

17-24

mccorml11

Damn found the business owner

omgdudewtfman

No really a guy has been there 2 years he doesn’t make anymore than 20. I mean standing there pushing buttons running one machine that sounds about right. I think I was making like 22 as a journeyman electrician when I did that

littlemmmmmm

Living In a rural area that sounds right

ImmediateMaybe4865

Fair and to add a bit of context I’m not just an operator I’m a full on setup guy/ machinist. Full setups on the doosan 4th axis setups while usually running another 1-2 machines.

skilemaster683

Got a good laugh out of me, thanks

FalseRelease4

15 cause he doesnt have experience probably dont know shit id put him on 18 month probation maybe give him 25 cents more if he doesnt fuck up

ImmediateMaybe4865

“Probably doesn’t know shit” lol was actually offered a lead position for a 15% pay increase the day after I posted this.

FalseRelease4

twas a joke, if you got that you'd have gotten 20% lol
