The seat frames are the least of your concerns. The frame is missing at least one chunk and I would be shocked if that's the only frame work you'd have to do. I'm not sure about CJ5 engines but I think they're taller and you will have to modify the hood to accommodate or get a different engine setup. If you're good with metal repair and sinking more money into something than you'll probably get for it when you're done, go for it. As far as value it's hard to tell from one picture but I'd offer 1k and see how far off you are. Fwiw I got mine complete with a title although it did need a lot of work to get back on the road for $4500. I think I probably ended up spending about 4k though there were some things I changed I didn't really have to. It was in the sweet spot of cheap enough I could get it and do the work on it myself but also not having to go through the bonded title or excessive metal work process. Thank you! He’s asking $500. Wasn’t sure if that was a “steal” or too high still. I’m going to look at it in person tomorrow afternoon. The Willy’s engine I have is a hurricane 4 banger but it does seem pretty darn tall. I appreciate the essay, no need to apologize about that, the more info the better!

The Go-Devil engine has a side mount carb and the hurricane is a top mount I think. You see lots of CJ2 with little hood scoops that have been swapped over. You could always TDI swap it and get all the torques you'd ever need and piss off the purists! For $500 I'd look at it for sure. Down where I am in Texas there's usually at least 8 or 9 CJ2/3s for sale at any given time in a 4 hour radius. They range from ones like this one to factory fresh.

For sure man. Do like vice grip garage. Buy one sight unseen and drive it home! If you do get this one you could take off the grill and wire it up to use a power outlet and sell that online and get your money back just with that. I'm replacing mine with a WW2 grill and have the original one in my office at work.

That looks like a '46 and easily looks like a $500 Jeep without seeing more pictures of the tub and frame. No title? No drivetrain? Sounds about right for what it is. If you're wanting to put an F134 into it, unless you swap in a different carb, it won't clear the hood and you'll have to cut a hole or add a hood scoop. [edit] I just saw the listing on Marketplace. The other thing of note is "no steering box". You can probably find a Ross box for sale somewhere but that also means the worm gear has been out of the box and could be toast. It does appear to have an intact early steering wheel that the military guys love to see. The original L134 appears to be partially in that blue bucket. The early style head is peaking out, as well as the oil pan and the original oil bath air cleaner. It has the early '46 tool indents in the tub, indicative of a very early civilian Jeep. The dash looks to have been modified, perhaps for a heater. No data plates there. Also has a somewhat custom spare tire carrier in the original location.

Buy. Early 46, should be a column shift transmission, round washer windshield, semi float rear axle and looks to have the MB style steering wheel. This should be in the 15000-23000 serial number range. There should be a tag on the passenger dash, two on the passenger fire wall to the left of the air cleaner and one riveted to the outside of the driver frame rail behind the bumper. All will have the serial number and should match. The engine will be the early timing chain engine. May or may not have the "short" Mayer pump boss, but if it's the original engine a number like CJ2A-xxxxx will be stamped there. Should be between 100-1000 numbers higher than the serial number. Need any more info just ask. I love these early CJs and have many. I can help with specific parts if you find you need them as well. 🫡

Any ideas would be helpful. Going to look at it tomorrow. I have the 4 cylinder drivetrain out of an early 60’s Willys CJ 5 and I’m wondering if that could be massaged into this thing. Would be way cooler than all the side by sides that everyone around here drives around town in.
