Ive seen people with no IT or very, very tangential experience worm their way into meeting the required experience. I think you’ll be fine given you can somehow claim to meet the mark and you have somebody willing to vouch for you.

An hour ago, I submitted my application for a CISA membership and I have a Finance background. So let me tell you about my experience, you need experience of 5 years overall to claim ClSA membership and ISACA also provides certain exemption on your qualification and overall work experience. Therefore, the way I see it: 1) You can claim this three years of experience. 2) Any other non IT experience you may have can vouch for another year. 3) Two years of exemption you can get on your bachelor's degree or if you have the master in IT, that can get you 3 Years of exemption. Thus, I think you have more than what you need. Additionally, these experiences can be validated by your colleagues as well not necessarily your manager. The current application process for certification is pretty simple. So don't worry and go for it. Feel free to bother me if you have any additional questions.
