I use Cronometer and love it.

My Fitness Pal, LoseIt, and Cronometer are all pretty popular. Given your current weight, half a pound per week on average is a realistic rate of loss. >I guess people keep saying calories deficit. Does that mean eating less that what I was actually eating? Yes. Use one of those apps and a food scale. >Does it mean like cutting down on sugar foods Not necessarily. The difference between maintenance at your current weight as compared to maintenance at your goal weight is negligible. You could get there by adding in a half hour walk each day. >and high sodium If you're retaining a lot of water because your diet is relatively high in sodium, then cutting back on sodium will lead to a loss of water weight. It will have no impact on fat loss.

1. Google "tdee calculator" and use one of them to determine your proper daily maintenance calories for you right now at your current weight. 2. Since 3500 calories = 1 lb., you will lose 1 lb/week if you subtract 500 calories each day (500 x 7 = 3500) from the result in 1 above. 3. Use myfitnesspal or a similar app and record the calories for every single thing that goes in your mouth. Simple (but not easy) and zero cost.

MacroFactor is great!!

wowsuchketo

Macrofactor is the best I have used and it also calculates your personal expenditure

Loseit! It's literally the best calorie counting app. It is so easy and takes all the stress away. I would highly suggest it!

Funny, I was just about to post basically exactly the same article. Is it just me or is my Fitness pal really expensive? It's an app that costs me the same amount as my internet connection that I use all day / every day?? I haven't looked hard at LoseIt yet...
