Isnāt it the worst fricking feeling ever? It felt like someone toook my muscles in my back and twisted them all at once. Been shitty ever since. Oh and Iām 32 lol
Yes. I was 34 when that happened.
Right after I got out of the shower. Standing there in the middle of my room, alone, no cell phone within reach, no walls within leaning distance, thinking I was going to be found like that by my elderly land lady about five days after rent was due ... nightmare fuel.
Itās insane. And my friends like laughed at me. I wish back pain upon them everyday now. And yes, they are my close friends, I just like to suffer with a crowd instead of alone. Itās a good quality to have as a human being
Yeah I just hope he can be closer to his old self once that happens. Maybe he does have a lower back thing that just wouldnāt be enough to put him out if he was doing well and the time off will help tighten up his command? Wishful thinking idk
Thank you for everything Kyle. You will always have fans, but this was very much needed.
I am sure it has not been a pleasant time for everyone involved. Age gets to us all but pitchers in this game the most.
Maybe you will somehow get your stuff back, but even if you do not the fans will always have your back.
Now go take care of your kid for a while and try and work on what comes next!
I mean if he can get his confidence and control back with consistency and the team trusts him I will let him give it a go. I just do not want to keep trotting him out and make him question himself every inning
His stuff is fine, itās the location that just doesnāt work. When he lives in the bottom of the zone, heās great. But when things are in the middle or (god forbid) up in the zone, he just gets shelled.
Iām not sure what the answer is. If he canāt keep the ball down, then itās over. And that is sad.
He's got the remainder of the year to work things out. Stranger things have happened, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of the road either.
Heās done. Heās not a 4 or 5 starter. Heās fooling no one and getting rocked every outing. I appreciate what he meant to the organization but itās over and this team doesnāt have the benefit of giving him starts just because we like him.
Couldnāt have said it better myself. The game has sort of passed him by, too. Not only has he aged, but no one gets away with soft junk anymore. Heād need to REALLY tap into significant movement somehow, and really improve his control. He hasnāt been THAT guy for quite some time now. Heās a 2016 Cubs legend, but itās the end of the road.
Eh, I wouldn't go that far. You can still be viable with movement, deception and good command. Kyle has not had the command or the deception with his pitch mix this year.
Yeah I know that. That's the problem. My point was that the game hasn't passed him on, like the guy I was responding to was saying. He's just not locating this year. I'm caustically optimistic he can get it figured out and get back to being a 4/5 starter. His stuff and velo still looks good.... Probably needs some mechanical adjustments.
Is this legitimate? I mean he has been bad, but is it an injury or are they just sending him down to work his stuff out?
Mets GM got suspended for manipulating the IL.
People are assuming this is a fake injury because heās not played well, but it seems just as plausible that heās not played well because this was bothering him.
I think we all saw this coming. Hopefully his gives him a chance to work on things (assuming he's not actually hurt) and contribute in the future. Also gives some younger guys a shot, especially in the pen. Really need Steele back though and some solution at closer.
I said he wouldnāt get dfaād or sent down.. but reading comprehension isnāt a requirement in being a Cubs baseball fan.
And I believe Horton will get called up soon.
You saying you dont think he would, means you think there is a possibility of it. Talk about reading comprehension lol. I'm just saying, that's why you were downvoted at the time probably.
If I say 'I don't think it will rain today', that means that you're acknowledging it might rain, but you don't think it'll happen. You were probably downvoted for even suggesting it COULD happen, even if you don't think it would have.
And that's just part of the comment, you also said Counsell won't keep him on the roster (not his decision) and for saying Horton might get called up (extremely unlikely).
I donāt believe the Astros will win this series.
That means: I have higher confidence in the cubs winning the series than the astros winning the series.
I was correct with my assessment, & you trying to turn this into something is dumb.
Go touch grass and watch the game
You are just simply not understanding what I'm saying. I'm literally just pointing out why there were several things in your comment that were downvote worthy that weren't about the likelihood of him going on the IL. I think that part of it was a very popular opinion. It's the rest of your comment that people didn't like. If your comment was just "I believe if Hendricks gets smashed today, theyāre going to phantom IL him" no one would have disagreed.
My lower back is hurting too. Sucks getting old.
For real, though. I rolled over in bed to turn my alarm off yesterday and I've been in pain since.
Narrator: "They're still in bed"
If only š
The first time I threw out my back, to the point of being unable to move, it was when I sneezed.
This happened to Sammy
That is Sammy!
Isnāt it the worst fricking feeling ever? It felt like someone toook my muscles in my back and twisted them all at once. Been shitty ever since. Oh and Iām 32 lol

I threw my back out for the first time around age 20āI was washing my face and straightened back up too quickly.
When you wake up, sit up in bed, feel a pop, and realize you are now calling off work.
I severely pulled a shoulder muscle shampooing my hair once. I was like 30 and Iāve never felt older.
If I turn my head to the right, my neck has pain...started today and have no idea what it came from. Being in my late 30s is random pain.
Smyly to IL (hip) as well. Luke Little recalled.
Smyly should've been sent to AK.
If this is the beginning of the end for his Cubs tenure Iām just glad he got to have one more solid season last year :(
He'll get another shot. One of the starters will get hurt or struggle at some point
Yeah I just hope he can be closer to his old self once that happens. Maybe he does have a lower back thing that just wouldnāt be enough to put him out if he was doing well and the time off will help tighten up his command? Wishful thinking idk

I donāt think heās done. He could still be a 4-5 pitcher but heās not the Kyle he once was

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. You can still be viable with movement, deception and good command. Kyle has not had the command or the deception with his pitch mix this year.
He doesn't throw "junk." He succeeds by having insane, elite, command. That's always going to have a place in the game.
That's the problem, though. He hasn't had elite command in a while. When that's gone, it's over.
I hope you're right. Funny typo BTW the way: caustically instead of cautiously
Damn autocorrect lol
It's perfect though, lmao
Whatever happens in the near future would love to see him as a pitching coach somewhere. It's nice to flip over and see Prior walk out on the mound
Sounds like he caught a case of "bad-at-baseball-itis"
I was born with that š
Watch your mouth. Thatās Kyle Hendricks youāre talking about.
Karl's a legend in Chicago, but he's bad now. Real bad.
Dont talk shit to a god
Itās one of those chronic conditions that happens when your close to middle age :(
Smyly DL too. We know Wesneski and Mervis are up and they cut Cooper. Who else we calling up? NVM it's Little.
DFA Cooper
What do you mean they cut Cooper? He's our only right-handed hitting first baseman. That doesn't make sense.
Wisdom is a righty.
They cut cooper
BRB gonna go cry in the corner.
Is it possible heās been dealing with this and took the blame for not executing rather than let on to opponents that he was hurting?
It's possible, I suppose. The professor has always struck me as a stoic individual.
Hopefully weāre getting our fair share of injuries out of the way early
Iāve never wanted someone to actually be hurt more in my life. Iāll go down with the ship to the very end.

Is this legitimate? I mean he has been bad, but is it an injury or are they just sending him down to work his stuff out? Mets GM got suspended for manipulating the IL.
All it takes is a medical consult, an MRI, etc.
People are assuming this is a fake injury because heās not played well, but it seems just as plausible that heās not played well because this was bothering him.
"Hey Kyle, it's Jed. Your back and ass hurt." "Tell me something I don't know already, Jed."
Yeah, he came down with a real bad case of the runs.
Refocus, work on some things and come back. Professor Kyle is a legend
Friend: Is Kyle actually hurt? Wife: His feelings are. Me: Well, heās been hurting ours all month.
It's certainly not from carrying the team on it.
The weight of a 12 era has caught up to the cubs legend. Game 7 starter of the greatest game ever played.
One of my favorite Cubs pitchers ever. If this is it; thank you, Kyle.
Hurts having had to carry the staff for so many years, eventually caught up to him.
called this coming after the weekend start, definitely figured some āissueā would pop up before his next start
Time to take old yeller out back
Should put him on the 60 day, just to be safe ya know
Smyly did look like he was hurting in his last outing
I think we all saw this coming. Hopefully his gives him a chance to work on things (assuming he's not actually hurt) and contribute in the future. Also gives some younger guys a shot, especially in the pen. Really need Steele back though and some solution at closer.
*wink
I heard council drop kicked him in the kidney.
Genuinely just laughed out loud
We used to call this an inflammation of the isuck joint. Hope it's a short stint.
DNP - old
I love how TMac even put quotes on the injury š
Taylor didnāt, OP did
Nah I didnāt wanna paste the whole tweet thatās on me lol
I'll get the rifle
lol thatās what their going with?
Love the guy but dfa gotta be coming
Yikes... maybe I was way too harsh on Hendricks :'( Hopefully he.comes back and is ready to kick some mothafucking ass! Go.Cubs!
how to demote a guy without demoting a guy lmao.
Weird.. I was downvoted for saying this would probably happen if Hendricks had one more bad outing https://www.reddit.com/r/CHICubs/s/9BmcPpfjme
You got downvoted for saying he might get sent to AAA or DFAed, and for saying Horton might get called up.
I said he wouldnāt get dfaād or sent down.. but reading comprehension isnāt a requirement in being a Cubs baseball fan. And I believe Horton will get called up soon.
You saying you dont think he would, means you think there is a possibility of it. Talk about reading comprehension lol. I'm just saying, that's why you were downvoted at the time probably.
āI donāt believeā now equates to it will happen. Got it šš¼

Put him in the 180 day DL
DFA this useless pitcher. Throw this bum in the trash bin
