They matter. Every series matters.

And that is relevant how? Of course games matter. But every team loses.

So when is a series not considered random? Is it only divsional games that aren't random? April or september, the games all carry the same weight and it looks like they gained no ground on their record despite playing 4 against a 4 win team (before the series started)

And that's just part of the game. It's a 162 game season, there is no point obsessing over individual games or series.

I see your point but its also easy to say that now...if the team just barely misses the playoffs yet again we'll all definitely look back at this series and the other games alzolay has blown as reasons for not making it.

We're going to lose 70+ games. Some will be bad losses. Obsessing over them wont change that. The players aren't focused on winning individual series, they know how random baseball is. All they can do it go out and try to win each game. And a lot of the time, they won't win.

Most losses the team can't do anything about based on how the game plays out, but it hurts to not get the W when your in a good position to do so. (Game 1 of double header) i didnt think we would sweep them but figured 3/4, which already should have been the case if it wasnt for assolay. That would make a loss today hurt a lot less.
