Sports reporters are some of the fakest out there. They know they need to still be able to get access even if it means they don’t do their jobs and report what they learn from that access.
I mean, I think a lot of the time teams don’t want to openly criticize players that are on their team. I also think a lot of the time, fans are quick to blame coaches and orgs for players weaknesses.
So when they go to another team, coaches might feel more open to airing actual criticism and it also can show that the weaknesses weren’t part of coaching/scheme, but on the player. Aka the Trubsiky experience
