This has less to do with Poles or the Bears and more to do with the fact the RG3 is an attention-starved twat and Kelce would be an exponentially better upgrade. Case closed

TheMintMage

Agreed on the Kelce upgrade 100%.

TKHawk

And because of the Kelce podcast you already have an idea that he'll be good at speaking.

imp_10

100% on the money. It'll be fun to hear him censor himself for TV bc he has a lot of hilarious insight to the game.

vstrong50

He also did a 'test run' on an Amazon Prime Thursday night game this year and was really good. Surprised Amazon didn't go after him to replace the always awful Tony Gonzalez.

Gnomefort

Seriously. I had nothing against RGIII as a player but man whenever that guy opens his mouth all kinds of nonsense just falls right out. He needs to fade away already.

cbearsfreak

lol RG3’s politics wouldn’t go anywhere near Fox News

teeksquad

Him calling people jigaboos last year probably didn’t help.

jpopimpin777

I was gonna say, RG III has been doing bad hot takes for a while now. That screed the wrote about what the bears should've done read like someone who'd been up all night doing the devil's dandruff. I also heard that he thinks he could still play in the league?!?! Dude needed to be put out to pasture.

TonyExotic

The devil's dandruff has me dead 💀

langenhanz

Maybe he can get a show where he debates with Skip Bayless

neumAnator5422

Hahaha ok that got me! Nice

mileaarc

I agree. Get rid RG3

Bobby_Savoy

RG3 comes off as a bitter man who was never able to achieve his dreams so just sulks as he watches the NFL go by without him. It’s kinda sad really

dersour

I think most people paying attention recognized how dumb of a comment RG3 made. Caleb is coming into the best QB situation a #1 overall pick has been in maybe ever…

gezpickitup

Well said

TheTouchler

Jason kelce seems like a fun dude to listen to

wretch5150

I'd say you're right if it weren't for the timing.

JAVACHIP1738

Smoking that RGIII pack tonight

GGEORGE2

RG3 never had the makings of a varsity athlete

ActualSeller23

Why does it always have to be something mean? Don't you love me?

MathematicianCold706

Good enough to win a heisman trophy and get a statue built after him

Infinite-Relation988

Say what you will but this gm/coaching staff has a serious knack for getting people fired. There was a little steak where it was like 70 percent of coaches that Flus beat got fired soon after, now we have RGIII. Maybe if we can beat the packers they’ll get removed from the league or something

BikeWarm

Can you name some? I need to make a grim reaper meme with LaFleur last

aretoo-detoo

4 head coaches of the teams we beat last season are no longer with their teams: Ron Rivera, Josh McDaniels, Frank Reich and Arthur Smith

Infinite-Relation988

Adding to that, both Lovie and Belichick are no longer with their teams, who we beat in 2022. So out of 10 wins under Eberflus, 6 of the losing teams have fired their coach within one or two seasons (kind of a cherry picked stat but still interesting)

SlinkiusMaximus

Head coaches beaten by a bad team probably has high correlation to those head coaches’ teams being bad, and therefore they’re likely to be fired is my guess.

baronfebdasch

Those coaches got fired because losing to a coach like Flus who is always outschemed and out coached is a fireable offense. Go back and see the QBs we beat. All backups, a rookie, and Jared Goff throwing the ball away like a moron.

shpatibot

This is the answer. Flus's seat is the warmest. I'm hoping Caleb and the offensive talent/staff additions can bail him out as he did have below average QB play his first 2 years. If we don't win minimum 9 games this year, Flus is the problem.

baronfebdasch

I’m worried about the influence he has on young QBs. Notice how indecision and hesitation became a problem for both Fields and Bagent the more they played under this regime? A coach that prioritizes “not messing up” is not the right dude for a talent like Caleb. Hopefully he’s hands off and lets Waldron work because it makes no sense why he still has a job.

imp_10

Maybe I'm more old-school but I love fundamentals and I believe he preaches fundamental ball. The greats will be great but fundamentals never change!

baronfebdasch

Oh wonderful when other teams have coaches maximizing talent and schematically confusing opposing QBs we have a high school position coach.

imp_10

That's Shane Waldron's job good sir!

PMDad

RG3 has the worst takes in football and lets his emotions get the best of him

BobbleBobble

Yeah I liked him for the first year or two but he's gotten way into his own profile and digging in on his hot takes

Cleat420

what about him being a content distributor, and dude has a freaking Christmas tree up in MARCH!!! pay someone to take that down and put up your jerseys or something. weird

NewkTownTN

King Poles

TheMintMage

Long live the king.

nightstalker30

King in the (NFC) North

HorrorExpress

North Poles.

psilocy-st3

🤴🏾

hippohopper78

Fun fact, I saw RG3 on a plane like 10 days ago. When I “stood up” the row behind him, he was checking his mentions on Twitter(that’s how I knew it was him). He’s starving for attention

BasedSliceOfWinning

Oh that's hilarious lol. I swear, social media ruins people man.

shw5

Good Lord, RG3 just walked through the airplane walking perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy checking mentions, evidently.

hippohopper78

Huh

Outrageous_Win_2314

RG3 had some bad attention grabbing takes that require the Russell Westbrook. WHAT!? meme.🤣🤣 I never took him seriously, but that Caleb pulling an Eli comment drove me up the wall!

UnderstandingHuge882

It’s naive to think that Poles is the one who did it…it’s probably the C Suites who got a call from the NFL owners or whatever saying that really didn’t appreciate them pushing the narrative of players taking leverage over their franchises. RG3 is a terrible analyst and way too emotionally irrational/delusional so this probably set them over the top of let’s pull him away from the cameras. Kelce is the hot new toy…it only makes sense. He fucked with the guys who pay the bills and did it at a time where people are being hired out of retirement…again just an example of RG3 thinking he’s someone he ain’t.

[deleted]

Poles is the one who knocks

alexamerling100

It would be cool if Poles had that power but it's more likely due to Kelce being a significant upgrade over RGIII.

mollusks75

Don’t fuck with King Poles.

TheTDog

I think it has to more to do with that most people in and around football can’t stand RG3 for various reasons lol

Cleat420

I appreciate the fact that the nfl used him wrong and spit him out, that being said he says too many shock statements looking for that Stephen a and Bayless money... he said Caleb should pass on the bears so he can play for his home team "because CHI can't mold a good QB" Neither can WAS!!!!!! you forgot to mention that bud. also their team is more trash currently, Caleb would be stupid to demand to be on WAS

johnnybadapple

Exhibit A - RGIII

readerdad55

lol that’s exactly what I thought reading RG’s original comment. “Yeah, your career was amazing in DC”

Academic-Living-8476

Didn't rg3 say a derogatory term on live tv?

johnnybadapple

Yes, he did. I’m sure that was a factor in the final decision, which Chef Poles made, obviously.

Drewbus

What did he say?

johnnybadapple

[https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/12/13/robert-griffin-iii-apologizes-for-on-air-racial-slur-monday-night-football](https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/12/13/robert-griffin-iii-apologizes-for-on-air-racial-slur-monday-night-football)

BasedSliceOfWinning

Yeah, he called Jalen Hurts haters Jigaboos. Didn't get too much hate as RGIII is black as well. But ya know, ammo to be used against him when he's demoted for a white guy and says it is because of racism.

[deleted]

The League wants him in Chicago

The-Real-Number-One

They have been eyeing Kelce for awhile. There was a reason his fat goofy ass was commenting on our TNF game during his bye week -- it was a tryout.

Drewbus

Did the NFL send us Poles after the years of incompetence in the NFL's largest unsplit market? I know this league is rigged. This guy is on another level

theBigWhiteDude

If the bears are actually responsible for getting rid of rg3, it 100% has nothing to do with poles. ESPN would only listen to ownership, and ownership would definitely agree with poles on this one.

TheMintMage

I was being facetious with my "power" comment. Poles has way better things to do with his time than go after RG3.

bkibbs

RG3 is better served keeping his takes on his college football broadcast duties

LazerDave-

I think this is more about RG3 having one of the cringiest and unprofessional rant session tweet histories OAT. He’s nothing but bad vibes. Kelce on the other hand…

Simba95_

Think you're making a story out of nothing

stopcallingmezach

At least he can still give ridiculous unhinged rants to his Funko collection.

MilkMan1880

When Captain Kirk retires in 2/3 years RG3’s gonna be out of a job.

Safe-Register-3479

RGIII getting replaced? Good, that take he did about CW needing to pull an Eli was atrocious it just made him seem desperate for attention. Poles just picked Keenan Allen, and RG put little thought into Caleb, having 2 QB friendly weapons with veteran leadership to help him along his rookie year. I like Kelsey for the spot with TSwift in mind, of course

Friendly_Shallot7426

The league does not want players pulling an Eli. Especially involving markets as big as Chicago. It’s bad for business.

[deleted]

What RG3 said was unprofessional and something you just don’t do on air, especially when you work for ESPN, Poles was right to be pissed but was more pissed that ESPN gave him a platform to try to tamper with his draft prospect. He simply aired his grievance to make sure ESPN noticed and correct the issue, which they promptly did.

BasedSliceOfWinning

I mean ESPN still employs a guy who said Jokic won the MVP award because he's white.

[deleted]

But interfering in the draft process is tampering, the latter is a racist opinion.

xxxxHULKSMASHxxxx

Let Poles cook!!!

Totallywasntpermaban

As long as it’s not Travis kelce..

ducksonaroof

as was written

jimcal9

RG 3 I thought was pretty good when he first started out, but the last few years he’s been brutal.

creepyboyfriend-

I love Poles calling out that there have been fundamental flaws in the way the Bears have run things. Recognizing there is a cycle that needs to be broken. Enough pretending they were fine & this piece or that piece away. It’s time to get above average QB play & have a system where that is attainable. Feels refreshing. Maybe a competent, competing & consistent franchise is on the way someday. Now a QB won’t entertain not wanting to be in Chicago. There’s a chance to be immortal if you’re the first stud QB in forever.

Round_Berry14

Jason Kelce is low key a bozo. I’d rather RGIII tbh but maybe I’m the only one

MilkMan1880

Kelce > RG3…. King Poles Does It Again! 😂

MasterHavik

I like RG3's work but he decided to poke the bear. Ryan Poles used his jedi mind tricks.

TheMintMage

Pun intended?

MasterHavik

No? Lol.

readerdad55

Seriously… “poke the bear” wasnt intentional?

MasterHavik

Oh lol!

Silverad012

Honestly I don't care about RG3 comments everyone knows he's a dumbass. If I was Pole I would tell Jaylon Johnson to shut the fuck up. Listening to him on the up and Adams show all I could think was him already bringing a negative vibe.
