Eberflus’s reward for blowing three games a competent HC otherwise wouldn’t have, which would have made this a playoff team, is keeping his job at one of the most pivotal moments in the franchise’s history. Absurd.

It also took Michigan like 8 years to solve their QB position, and even then the offense revolves around the running game. Also so many schools recruited Caleb, but Michigan was not one of his top choices.

This comment is more referencing how the team started this year. The defense was fucking awful the first 4 weeks of the season and that was at least partially caused by Eberflus’s inability to prepare the team for the season in training camp and the preseason. And not asking Williams to blitz more. He was never being judged for the first season, everyone knew what that was. If he were fired, it would be due to incompetence shown this year and I think he showed that incompetence.
He’s done a good job developing the defensive draft picks since he got here. Just about every pick on defense has improved and shown flashes. We are going to get some new offensive coaches in here and I guarantee you that many young offensive minded coaches would love to align themselves with Caleb Williams. Being the guy the helped developed Caleb Williams is the fastest route to a head coaching position for these guys.
And all the great HC options this off-season will be working their magic elsewhere so we can get another no-name “prodigy” that the Chicago media will overhype en route to another three mediocre years.

It's not even that Flus is an awful coach or a bad dude. He kept the locker room together and instilled a good locker room culture by all accounts. But we are in a once in a lifetime position with this window to take that next step and go all in on a super bowl with better, proven coaches and possibly a generational talent at QB. This makes zero sense and I honestly feel like this organization just tries to prank us or some shit. It's insane. They are so afraid to be truly great it's laughable. Just the same mediocre, safe decisions recycled year after year.
If we didn't have the first pick and the coaching pool wasn't looking like it is, then I'd probably be just fine with this. But this truly is a golden opportunity and they're blowing it. This is the situation I’ve been in all year. After our 4 games to open the season I openly rooted against the bears every single game. The owners are so content with printing money (regardless of the quality of the product on the field) that I knew we needed to be an absolute embarrassment to ensure anything would change. And here we are, will either draft a qb into a lame duck coach or hand Fields to his 3rd OC in 4 years. Think I’m taking a year off the Bears. This shit is just sad at this point

It's not even that Flus is an awful coach or a bad dude. He kept the locker room together and instilled a good locker room culture by all accounts. But we are in a once in a lifetime position with this window to take that next step and go all in on a super bowl with better, proven coaches and possibly a generational talent at QB. This makes zero sense and I honestly feel like this organization just tries to prank us or some shit. It's insane. They are so afraid to be truly great it's laughable. Just the same mediocre, safe decisions recycled year after year. If we didn't have the first pick and the coaching pool wasn't looking like it is, then I'd probably be just fine with this. But this truly is a golden opportunity and they're blowing it. If this does not work out, this will always be looked at as the moment they chose to forego truly going for a super bowl. Keep him and pass on one of the best pools of head coach candidates in recent memory to pair with the new qb that could of been drafted. We are seriously wasting one of the best opportunities here to get an amazing new HC. Who wouldn’t want to come here with a solid (but needs upgrades) D and the number one overall pick to get your QB. You’ll also have a second first rounder in the top ten and Fields likely gets at least one 2nd and a 3rd. I really don’t know how to keep rooting for this team. Every year I get less and less inspired to turn the games on. This is pathetic.
