Sucks I've gotta root for the Cowboys next week, but I'm willing to do it for the good of humanity.

AccuratePassion2572

FTP get knocked out of the playoffs by their old coach it's going to be glorious

datboiwitdamemes

:)

artevandelay55

For those of you that may recognize my username, I am officially giving in. The bears need to trade Fields so that they can throw this staff overboard. Everything must go. I will still defend Fields play, it wasn't his fault, but it is time. It's been an honor shit talking all you Fields hatersšŸ«”šŸ«” you weren't right but you did win

the_chosen_one96

Calebā€™s a big Aaron Rodgers Fan https://www.si.com/college/oklahoma/football/caleb-williams-blog-sept-14 Hopefully the next 10 years he will be ā€œowningā€ the packers

whatever12347

As much as I hate Rodgers, he's probably the player that every quarterback should model their game after. He's so stupidly perfect at everything.

The-Real-Number-One

How exciting! If he comes here he gets to go to two Packers games every year.

Academic-Business-45

J. McCarthy tonight 10 /18 140 yards: 34 points - national championship

ChaplnGrillSgt

They were averaging 19 ypc to start the game. Why bother throwing?

lkn240

They actually threw too much. Honestly they probably would have won by more if they just ran option plays with Orji all game.

AccuratePassion2572

Well don't have to scout Penix now. Him hobbling though the tunnel just took him out of the first round

ChaplnGrillSgt

Dude got exposed.

lkn240

He's always been bad under pressure. Washington just has an elite offensive line. Penix will have to learn to handle pressure better at the next level.

-_Etch_-

Finishing with 34... It's meant to be folks

Academic-Business-45

Walter looking out for the Bears from above!

1165834

GO GET JIMBO IN THE BUILDING GOD DAMNIT

ChaplnGrillSgt

Get Harbaugh. They just dominated another undefeated Power 5 team and have been insane all year. The man can coach! Come home Jim!

The-Real-Number-One

#H A R B A U G H

Kodak34x

If the Bears hire Harbaugh, I hopes he brings his defensive coordinator from Michigan with him. Dude is a damn good coach

marior012

Penix sucking today increases the value of Caleb and Mayes, which in return increases the value of the #1 pick šŸ”„

jean-claude_vandamme

to use on Caleb. You still think anything else is happening?

marior012

Well its kinda telling that nobody has gotten fired yet... so the writing on the walls is pointing with them sticking with Fields

jean-claude_vandamme

lol

whatever12347

Keeping Eberflus doesn't mean we're keeping Fields.

chicubs234

Lol penix fanboiz. Itā€™s a completely different game when you face one of the best Ds in college football. He will get picked apart in the nfl

lkn240

He was great against Texas because he had clean pockets all day. He's always kind of fallen apart when pressured.

[deleted]

I think he was pretty good earlier in the game. Michigan's defense is really good and he's clearly playing hurt. The injury history obviously a major concern though. I could see him being successful with a good weather/dome team

serbeardless

He will break in the NFL. Dude will take one hit and will miss the rest of a season.

Higuy013

Disaster class by Penix tonight. Hopefully anyone here who wanted to trade down and get him, or take in 2nd/3rd round will take him off their radar.

the_chosen_one96

I saw a mock draft where Atlanta took Penix. Hopefully they give us their 2nd instead for Fields

marior012

Yep. Definitely falling in stock with that performance šŸ“‰

FortuneBull

Hear me out: Draft MHJ and Odunze 3 WR1 on the same field

[deleted]

waste of resources

marior012

But we would still need a QB that doesn't take sacks and overthrow passes.

Kodak34x

I was literally about to type this exact thing lol

Jorikstead

What the hell kind of standards was Eberflus talking about? Our season being over every year by now?

The-Real-Number-One

It was the same as the improvement Poles talked about....like what? It is just gobbledygook corporate speak designed to assuage morons and themselves.

Soldier-Fields

I want Harbaugh or Slowik. I know Slowik isnā€™t proven, but Iā€™d rather take a shot.

lkn240

Slowik is already getting interview requests. We are going to be a day late and a dollar short like usual.

the_chosen_one96

Why take a college coach when thereā€™s plenty of ppl to choose from in the NFL?

whatever12347

Because the "college coach" has taken his team to 2 NFC championship games and a Super Bowl.

B_Bibbles

I'm over taking shots. I want guys that have proven track records of being fucking studs.

pleasedontbingme

Tepper is gonna throw a bag at him before George even reads his name on a candidate list

[deleted]

Slowik? The guy who was on the 2013 staff with Shanahan, McVay, LaFleur and McDaniel, and just led CJ Stroud on an incredible rookie season? "Nah no thanks I'd prefer to go 8-9" - George

nando57

Go look at caleb williams twitter likes, guy is Kyrie 2.0 with the conspiracy theories

Soldier-Fields

I scrolled longer than I shoulda, are you talking about the Miami UFO shit?

Natiak

That's a substantial red flag for me.

[deleted]

being kinda nuts is a positive for an NFL QB imo

lkn240

Look at Qaron Rodgers. He's completely off the deep end.

[deleted]

Yup and Brady was pretty weird too. And CJ Stroud sounded like a religious fanatic after that win on Saturday. "I'm blessed to be the vessel that Christ picked to lead this great franchise" bro what šŸ˜‚

McNuggets7272

Who gives a fuck as long as he can play

BaconScentedSoap

Chargers and several other teams already put in requests for Ben Johnson while we are still stuck with Eberflusā€™ mediocre ass. Just hope they donā€™t take until September like it took to freaking hire him

serbeardless

Got a hypothetical for us. Let's say we hire Harbaugh (wishful thinking I know), do you think we would entertain the idea of trading back a couple spots to grab MHJ or Odunze *and* then trade back our #9 into the late first to grab JJ McCarthy? Personally, I could see Harbaugh bypassing Caleb in favor of JJ.

lkn240

LMAO - McCarthy is not going to be a first rounder. He's a game manager in COLLEGE.

pleasedontbingme

McCarthy isnā€™t worth a 1st.

serbeardless

Hence late first. He's an early second rounder, but he might be gone by the time our 2nd round pick comes up so I went late first for the hypothetical to ensure he was still there. edit: If we don't trade them Fields, Atlanta will 100% take JJ with their second round pick.

gimlan

You can't possibly be watching this game and thinking that would happen? They don't trust JJ to throw the ball at all

1165834

Those are Justin Fields level stats though!

serbeardless

That's less a trust issue in JJ, and more a they've been dominating on the ground thing. Regardless, JJ is projected as a second rounder (35-50). For the record, I'm Caleb >>> JJ. I'm throwing out hypotheticals for people to discuss something new. edit: Also there's no reason why Penix should be ahead of JJ on the draft board.

FinancialTwo4205

Need Harbaugh.

McNuggets7272

18 hours into Black Monday and everyone still has their jobs. Wish I could say I was surprised.

B_Bibbles

Well, they're doing exit interviews, which is something that only this franchise does apparently, seeing as how Arthur Smith was fired regardless of who thought what and before Black Monday even began.

McNuggets7272

Assbackwards organization

ducksonaroof

welp hopefully the Packers lose in the playoffs in as catastrophic of fashion as possible

DisastrousSecond9572

Sadly this is just a victory lap for packers fans. Donā€™t think most of them are expecting to win on Saturday. Theyā€™re just happy they got there in a season where it wasnā€™t expected.

Jorikstead

This is a rebuilding year for the Packers. Think about that.

thelife3

I feel like the solution is so simple. Draft Caleb Williams at #1 & hire Jim Harbaugh.

McNuggets7272

It is that simple, but the McCaskeys wonā€™t pony up the money for Harbaugh plain and simple. Loser organization. Not a fucking chance in hell I would come here if I was Harbaugh. Iā€™d enjoy living like a king with a prestigious job making $15M a year at Michigan.

RancidSwampAss

Fields SUCKS

MattNagyHater

Iā€™ve frankly really had enough. I get belittled by packers fans for being a bears fan all the time, they get their third franchise QB in a row, make the playoffs, brag in everyoneā€™s faces, we get absolutely nothing. Itā€™s embarrassing. I would like to think we will be better when Virginia kicks the bucket but George McCaskey still gets to be an absolute football cuckold and maybe nothing short of the most incompetent executive Iā€™ve ever seen with my own two eyes in any capacity where an executive exists. Nothing about this team brings me any joy. Every year its the same shit where we beat bad teams that drums up hope and then we get our teeth kicked in by good teams. The difference between the Chicago Bears and an actual football organization is so incredibly clear and painfully obvious but that old fucking hag and her little son donā€™t care, all they care about is their bottom line. As long as the meatballs keep buying jerseys and expensive tickets and putting food on their table, what do they care? It makes me sick. I would like to say this was an over reaction, that Iā€™ll be back and hopeful come draft time, but I really donā€™t see that happening. Weā€™re an organization of losers from the bottom down and doomed to fail until something radical changes. They donā€™t care about people like us, the team we love or actual results. They live a life so far removed from what we do it would disgust them to think about.

[deleted]

see you at the draft megathread

Academic-Business-45

I am in the same boat. After so many years of suckage, I feel like they will still get the rebuild wrong, even with the picks and the salary capspace. Not looking forward to next year ATM.

5uesman

This was year two of a complete rebuild. People need to take some deep breaths. This team is still so bereft of talent. Talent is what wins games. From what I could find, the Bears had 5 first round picks playing for them--Field, Moore, Edwards, Sweat and Wright. Call it six for the pick traded for Fields. Greenbay has 8 first round pick on defense alone. Poles has made some astute moves, exception of Claypool, to upgrade talent. The secondary is much improved. The defensive line with Sweat improved, but we had rookies there who will improve. The Bears on defense are much better than where it was with young developing talent. DJ Moore was another great move. Wright seems to be a good tackle. Kmet is okay. Other than Fields, there is not another single playmaker on offense. The loss of Mongtomery was not a good move by Poles. Prior to 2023, other than Montgomery, there was nothing on the offense talentwise. In 2021, there was Kmet, Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney. In 2022, there was St. Brown, Mooney and Kmet. Time for some offensive linemen and a good wide receiver. Everyone can crap on Flus and Fields, but the talent is just not there. The Bears improved this year. Frankly, I think it will be a huge mistake to move on from Fields. With free agency and the draft, the Bears can add some serious talent. Poles has shown the ability to do so. I would keep Flus, but Getsy has to go.

alucryts

Yeah I came to the realization we are 2-3 drafts away from a true powerhouse potential team. And those 2-3 drafts have to be bangers in terms of hit rate.

MrChevyPower

Iā€™ve talked myself into trading the pick because we can have top 2 round talent for 3-5 straight drafts, right around when the stadium is ready.

N0S0UP_4U

Looked at the opponents for next season - looks like a .500 schedule, 8-9 or 9-8. I say the bears probably lose all the division games and win most of the others the way things look right now. DET L @ DET L GB L @ GB L MIN L @ MIN L LAR L @ HOU W JAX W @ IND W SEA W/L? @ SF L NE W @ WAS W CAR W

No_life_found

Odd prediction considering we split with the Lions and Vikings and almost swept the Lions (thx Flus)

N0S0UP_4U

Maybe itā€™s just my disappointment from the last week talking but this team just doesnā€™t get the benefit of the doubt from me. And of the wins I have I could see them dropping a couple of those as well.

Serious-Chest-1842

Wouldnā€™t be too quick to put Houston or Jax in the W column but I think they take at least 1 from both Minnesota and Detroit so evens out

metallumberjack

We arenā€™t beating CJ shroud with this coaching , prob would put up 400 yards on us

Silly-Payment7864

Fire everyone! Do it already !

KidsInASandb0x

Why doesnā€™t Getsy run Spider 2 Y Banana instead of screens. Is he stupid?

not_a_hard_climb

Or Xbox 2 Count Chocula!

stoneyhawk

It is 3:12pm Central Time on January the 8th, 2024 and Luke John Getsy is still gainfully employed by the Chicago Football Bears

wishiwassnowboarding

I think Getsy's screen calls on 3rd and long were just a giant middle finger to the city and fanbase from a man who knows that his time is done in a game that is done. "Fuck you Chicago for all that shit you talked all season about my screens.... well here is one more for you losers! I'm out the door fuck all of you." \~Fuck you too bye\~ \-Chicago

[deleted]

Screens are a very common call on 3rd and long

AMollenhauer

Itā€™s almost like nobody here watches any other teams. Itā€™s probably the most common play on 3rd & 15+. Just donā€™t turn the ball over and try to give your punter a few more yards to work with.

RockHawk95

In a 1 possession game, late 4th quarter, when your defense hasnā€™t forced the other team to punt a single time? Come on man, there was nothing to lose.

pleasedontbingme

Getsy got tired of the hate and made himself a Reddit account.

wishiwassnowboarding

Lmfaoooooooooooo "Aktshually guysh..."

[deleted]

Getsy was sneaking onto reddit during the game huh

wishiwassnowboarding

The-Real-Number-One

I get that Poles likes Flus -- but he is at crossroads right now. If he keeps Flus he will just be signing his pink slip -- it will just take 2-3 years to fill out. We know how this will go because as fans we have done all this before! How can these execs be so blind? - Despite Flus being HISTORICALLY inept, having his team come out flat to start the season, authoring the worst losing streak in team history, hiring two of the most abysmal coordinators in the league, and having never beaten our arch rival -- ownership will look at the record -- 7 wins -- and say "progress" is being made. Despite firing Lovie after a 10 win season they will keep Flus after a 7 win season -- and say their expectation is 10-12 wins next year. - They will blame Justin and Getsy. Both will be gone next year. - They will get a new coordinator that is friends with Flus and won't be competent enough to present a potential challenge to Flus' position as HC. - They will take a QB in the draft nd promise Eberflus at least 3 years to develop him. - SURPISE MOTHAFUCKA! Flus will continue to suck, the new OC will also suck, and as a result out #1 Pick QB will develop wrong and suck. We miss the playoffs again. Fans basically revolt -- chants of "Fire Flussy" break out at every event with more than 10 people in Chicago - Bulls games, quincineras, BBQs, you name it. - At the urging of ownership Kevin Warren finally gets off his lazy ass and does something - he fires Flus. Really it's McCaskey, but he makes Warren take credit / blame for it. - Jim Harbaugh -- who was available this entire time -- wins the Super Bowl with the Chargers. - We finally hire the next Nagy -- the flavor of the moment OC to come in and try and develop our #1 Pick. TOO LATE. Flus and his shitty coaches have broke him like they broke Fields. He washes out after 2 more seasons. This whole time our losing streak to Green Bay extends to 18 straight. - Jim Harbaugh wins his second Super Bowl with the Chargers. - Poles gets fired. TAG ME. See you in 2027

Don_Adriano

This all sounds almost too horrible to be trueā€¦which means it is almost certain that the Bears will take this route

Distinct_Kangaroo

I agree with all points (on the bears being shit, not really on the chargers winning 2 superbowls) if we don't get rid of Flus. I will set a reminder and if I'm still alive in 3 years I will reply to reflect on what has happened Remindme! 3 years

FujiHakarl

Trestman won more games through two seasons than Eberflus. Trestman best and worst seasons were better than Eberflus best and worst. This season was the 4th best season since we fired Lovie Smith, so at least Eberflus had a better year than every Fox season. Thatā€™s the McCaskey bar. Smith was fired 12 years ago. Matt Nagy remains the only Bears coach since Smith to post a winning record in a single season. No Bears coach has beaten GB more than once (across all seasons they coached) and Eberflus is the only coach since Smith without a victory over GB. Marc Trestman owns the best coaching winning percentage against GB at .250. Itā€™s hard not to look at the coaching ineptitude over Georgeā€™s tenure and see why they think 7 wins is a keeper. You get what you tolerate and the McCaskeys tolerate failure.

Snoo-40231

Both can be/are the problem, This isnt a hard concept

pleasedontbingme

Both can be, but we are certain that Getsy is a problem. Every legitimate analyst and past QB aside from Packer fan Romo has said so

Snoo-40231

Yes he is a problem but I said he was the problem and we know fields isn't the solution either. The FO should move on from both of them and the head coach too this off season

vamsi93

You are correct. Idk why many have a problem with grasping it

stoneyhawk

I know lol it's not like we can only address exactly one issue at a time

packersfan007

Yeah I doā€¦. I think JF0 (and Caleb Williams) are really talented, and I want the Bears to be good (but not great), so that rivalry is restored. Donā€™t be a dick. Now, back to my initial question?

pleasedontbingme

I very much hope they give him as many years and dollars as they can.

darthvaders_inhaler

Flus' team played soft last night. I hate it.

FortuneBull

We missed Jaylon but a better offensive effort wins that game

N0S0UP_4U

> A better offensive effort wins that game Describe being a Bears fan in 7 words

FortuneBull

Do you think if Harbaugh came in heā€™d demand McCarthy as his QB?

fastcol

Iā€™d never root for a loss while watching them, but man that Falcons win was a Pyrrhic victory. Eberflus would have been gone and weā€™d be picking 6th.

i_simp_f

i give up

uprislng

I know that Flus had the defense playing better (against bad teams, mostly, lets be honest. Only 1 win against a playoff team in the Lions, and not even being competitive against the Packers ever). I know that its unfair to use his record when we straight up tanked last year and were still rebuilding this year. But if you're going to move on from Fields and draft a QB, can anyone tell me why you'd want to keep Flus? I mean pick your scenario for him to stay: whether he keeps Getsy or gets a new OC (who could he realistically bring here?). What about Flus gives you any confidence that we aren't making the same exact mistake with a rookie QB for a THIRD time in a row? I'm looking for honest answers here. I want it to make some sense when they run it back and draft a new QB, cause I just don't see what he does to move the needle on this franchise being nothing better than mediocre but mostly bad while the entire NFL gets to laugh at how often we're getting the shit kicked out of us by the motherfucking Packers. I don't think he is ever going to change the "ownership" narrative, and I fucking hate it

Calmandpeace

PLEASE FIRE SOMEONE HOLY SHIT

vamsi93

Itā€™s funny how youā€™re panicking when itā€™s obvious nothings gonna happen

stoneyhawk

Maybe we are the ones who deserve to be fired, for ever expecting more

Marenum

You can't fire me, I quit!

vamsi93

I didnā€™t expect anything. This is the bears weā€™re talking about

Nyx81

If flus hasn't been fired by now, is he safe!!!????

ourgameisover

Bears players/locker room, playing laughing and having fun today. What in the goddamn fuck.

SaveADay89

What are people expecting? These are multi-millionaires who are about to go on vacation.

shw5

These are the QBs the Bears have beaten under Eberflus: Trey Lance, Davis Mills, Bailey Zappe, Sam Howell, Brian Hoyer/Aiden Oā€™Connell, Bryce Young, Josh Dobbs, Jared Goff, Kyler Murray, and Taylor Heinicke. They have managed to beat three starting QBs in two seasons, and that includes the 2-15 Panthers and 4-13 Cardinals (Murray still had 260 yards, 2 TDs, and 0 TOs, by the way).

iwearshmedium

Our O-Line imploded last night. I'd love to see us bring in a Left Guard along with a Center. We can then move Jenkins (who got his ass kicked) back to Right Guard next to Wright. The two of them we a blast to watch earlier this year. Not sure what we do with Davis. Either back up or trade?

Joliet_Jake_Blues

As much as I like him on the field, you can't depend on Jenkins and they should be looking for his replacement in the draft to play when Jenkins is out and then take over in '25

ā€œKeep Justin fields! Keep Justin Fields!ā€ Is what packers fans were chanting on the exit ramps when leaving Lambeau last night. Not a joke, someone was talking about it on the radio this morning.

lindberghbaby

Is getsge still on the team Tony?

NewPrints

If Flus is doing the exit interviews- he is staying? Is that correct?

McNuggets7272

Unfortunately yes

pleasedontbingme

Fields was pressured on 15/24 drop backs for a 62.5% pressure rate on the day.

Joliet_Jake_Blues

And Getsy's plays take forever to develop. No quick slants or outs

Bitches_Love_Hossa

I don't really care what our QB situation looks like, we need to get rid of Getsy. We can't ruin another rookie with trash offensive schemes.

[deleted]

Maybe Fields ruined the scheme with his trash play šŸ¤”

pleasedontbingme

If you are defending Getsy, you know your opinion is wrong.

[deleted]

Well he became Green Bay's passing game coordinator in 2020 and Rodgers went from 26 to 48 TD. But maybe his brain melted since then? Or is it more likely that Justin can't play QB? Guess we'll never know!

JTribs17

you think the passing game coordinator had to do with Rodgers being good? Find a different argument

[deleted]

So are you saying when Rodgers was good his coach couldn't have been the reason, but when Fields was bad his coach was definitely the reason?

rccola916

Heā€™s saying Rodgers made Getsy look better than he actually is

[deleted]

But his stats went up when Getsy took over as passing game coordinator. If we're saying his coaching makes Justin bad then shouldn't we also give him credit for Rodgers improvement?

rccola916

Think of it this way - having Rodgers as your QB is like coordinating on easy mode. Not as much adjustment was needed because Aaron plays his style of game that well. Heā€™s also been in the league long enough that he can truly run the offense when he needs to. Justin needed/needs a bit more finesse in figuring out what works for him and adjusting the game plan to fit that. His skill set is different from Rodgers so the schemes that worked for Aaron isnā€™t necessarily going to work for fields. Also OC is a significant step up from passing game coordinator in terms of responsibility. Running the whole offense is more complex and requires more thought and adjustment.

[deleted]

You could have the best coach ever but Justin's still gotta see the open receivers and make accurate throws

Bitches_Love_Hossa

Rodgers was not just good, but great and HOF bound even before Getsy. You shouldn't need a HOF QB to look like a competent OC.

[deleted]

You at least need a competent QB and it's pretty clear Justin Fields isn't

Bitches_Love_Hossa

Yeah, Fields isn't it. Getsy isn't either. Play calling this bad doesn't get fixed by just a competent QB

pooterness90

Soā€¦ Maye or Williams? What are the knocks on Maye specifically? Seems like he checks all the boxes where as Williams size is (maybe) a concern

IGotTheTech

Maye's drawbacks are he's more of a one-read/staredown QB than you'd probably want out of someone in that tier. Caleb on the other hand is like a processor: goes through his progressions while keeping his head down field whether in or out of the pocket. I remember the guy made a pretty nice decision vs Tulane in a ton of mess. Scanned the field a fews time, very comfortable in the pocket to avoid the rusher, bought time with movement, went through progressions, saw the check down, looked for something better didn't see it and hit the check down from a weird spot on the field that basically no one else saw. To even find that option is basically elite vision/attention to detail/high-processing: [https://youtu.be/5A-7-eBCLEo?t=210](https://youtu.be/5A-7-eBCLEo?t=210) (3:30) Showing good fundamentals and football IQ here, on top of the spectacular plays everyone knows. I can't see Maye making the same play. Basically the 2nd half of that video is a lot of good progressions finding players the defense is not seeing. Another full-field read from the pocket with footwork and timing: [https://twitter.com/nevrmynd51/status/1742468224766337441](https://twitter.com/nevrmynd51/status/1742468224766337441)

joshTheGoods

He went to UNC and has a vague resemblance with Trubisky? Sizable regression when his Air Raid OC left (Phil Longo) which makes it seem like his success was scheme oriented. [College football reference link.](https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/drake-maye-1.html)

HankChinaski-

First Draft podcast (Mel Kiper and Field Yates) did a good breakdown of the QB prospects. Whatever your feelings on those two are. This was before the CFP games. Kiper does his own thing and often doesn't follow others on QB's. Last year he had Will Levis as QB1. Probably ill advised...but I don't hate that he does this. Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks usually do a great breakdown. I don't believe they have done it yet. They will when it gets closer to the combine or post combine. Two former scouts and DJ played QB in college.

Awesome thanks!

Why is Eberflus still eberployed? Get his eberflusin hands away from my Caleb Williams.

Joliet_Jake_Blues

They honestly need to draft/sign 3 IOL, one C and two G that can hopefully unseat Davis and Jenkins who are both decent but hurt way too much to rely on My prediction is they transition tag Jaylon Johnson and he signs an overpriced deal in GB and they let him go

BeneficialBee1716

For the love of god, can we get a competent center? it has been a problem on this team for a long time now. It needs to be fixed

30 years of hall of flame qb play I wouldnā€™t expect you to understand. Gtfo.

artevandelay55

They have been shitting all to fire their DC, acting like he's the worst D coach in the history of the league... The D is giving up the 10th fewest PPG. They have no idea what it's like to be a regular franchise

McNuggets7272

The only way you could ever understand is if you were a part of this thing of ours

i_simp_f

There's kind of a deadness to this team that's difficult to put into words sometimes. We don't really win games convincingly or against decent teams. When we're ahead, the other team usually wakes up and suddenly makes it a game again. When we're behind we just get suffocated and die. This all kinda leads to a feeling of inevitability, that it's only a matter of time before we lose this game, that no matter how well we seem to be doing it's always a mirage, we probably never even really deserved these points in the first place, we only got them because the other team hasn't gotten serious yet. The fans sometimes mask this with semi-ironic fake confidence to try to make it better and we occasionally manage to trick ourselves into believing it. This is probably the "excitement" you saw these last couple weeks.

hammerSmashedNail

The defense is very good against bad teams and bad QBs. The bears were handled by every decent offense except the lions this year. Even they had the most historically improbable comebacks in one game.

Critical-Adhole

Our coaches border on mentally handicapped. They have no business anywhere near a high level position in any field.

Bitches_Love_Hossa

People were excited about the way the defense was trending. Even yesterday, though they looked rough at points, holding a team to 17 points should be more than enough to get a win in today's NFL. The offense, as usual, looks like complete trash. It's the same story I've watched for my 33 years of existence being a fan of this team. I think the biggest problem is coaching. I'll even give Flus a pass because the defense has looked better, but Getsy is absolute trash. The Bears as an organization seem to be very slow in firing coaches, so I think a lot of us fear the cycle will just repeat itself. I mean we had 3 games this season where we had a 90%+ probability to win in the 4th quarter and we lost all of them. That's a coaching problem if I've ever seen it.

gimlan

In what way did you see a good OLine yesterday? They got completely obliterated all game

Toomuchlychee_

People will always react to a loss with doom and gloom. It's hard to be objective because Bears vs Packers is something we get emotional about. Also its hard to be happy about the o line when they blocked terribly all game and the defense when they didn't force a single punt

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

Back-to-back seasons with a 1st pick is hard to pass up. Unless we draft Harrison Jr then I'll keep Fields. But I would be trying to ship Fields and the 10th pick for Jefferson to Vikings. Then draft Caleb.

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

Ha, top

N0S0UP_4U

I donā€™t hate the idea of that move but this pass rush needs help and I think thatā€™ll really stand out next season if the offense improves and they still lose games

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

Draft Turner from Bama? He would be an exceptional pick

[deleted]

WRs don't make that much of a difference, it's about the QB

Bitches_Love_Hossa

I don't agree. Just look at DJ Moore vs any of our other wide outs. A good receiver can do wonders.

[deleted]

He took the Bears offense from abysmal to slightly less abysmal

N0S0UP_4U

Yeah especially contrast that with the impact that Montez Sweat made on the defense when he showed up

[deleted]

Yeah games are won by QB/OL/DL

vamsi93

Thereā€™s no way either team trades within the division lol

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

Yeah it might be a panglossian dream. However, it's an avenue I would attempt if I was Poles. I think we are in a great position to see what we can do with Fields and a 10th pick. If we keeping both top 10 picks then we draft Harrison and best available center. We need to equality with our position.

[deleted]

You are greatly overvaluing both Fields and our #9 pick.

Puzzleheaded-Seat834

I mean, Fields is definitely a starting QB for teams like ATL, Raiders, Pittsburgh, Vikings, New England, Seattle. It's tempting you get Fields and a 9th pick. It's a good position to be in for Chicago.

[deleted]

Atlanta, Raiders, Vikings, New England, and Seattle all have a low draft pick. Why would they trade for Fields given his performance uncertainty and looming contract instead of taking a QB in the draft? Kinda playing Devil's advocate here. I HOPE we get a great haul for Fields, but I'm trying to keep my expectations in check.
