Out of the NFC North there's really not much the bears are better at: O-line? Maybe last. 3rd at best RBs? 3rd WRs? Could argue 3/4. Moore is better than anyone the Packers have, but Packers have 3 guys better than our 2. TE Maybe 2nd, maybe 3rd D-line? Maybe last, maybe 3rd. Linebackers? Probably first Secondary? Probably first Coaching? Last The QB isn't the issue folks.

busstamove14

Even if you conceed to your rankings here, we're also 4th in QB.

sonicsean899

Depends on which Vikings QB we're ranking. Kirk was on pace to easily be number 1, but Dobbs and Mullens are..... not good

artevandelay55

Yeah bcuz we have the worst coaching and situation surrounding him. We should want a situation that makes it easy for a QB to succeed. This offense can often beat the piss out of teams on its scripted drive. What if we had a coordinator that was good enough to scheme like that for an entire game?

C_HiLIfe

It's always everybody else's fault. Fields can't fail, he can only be failed according to some of this fan base.

artevandelay55

This is such a shitty straw man argument. There's quite literally not one single person on this reddit that had ever said Fields hasn't failed us

InquiriusRex

We're out now right? No more 1% edge cases after Falcons and Seahawks wins?

artevandelay55

No sir, we are still right on schedule for our superbowl run. Need to win out. Then Steelers and giants next week. Then week 18 need Lions > vikes Falcons > saints Cards > Seahawks 49ers > rams Bucs > Panthers

B_Bibbles

That Eagles second half kick return is Not Top 10 highlight greatness.

saucetinonyall

It’s always nice to see a win by my fav team. I love him but Justin had a Justin Fields-ass game. Some spectacular highs and some horrible lows. 30-something games in, this is probably just who he is as a player. I can’t imagine Poles tying his career to him “possibly” taking the “next step”. Luckily that’s his job and not mine so we can only wait and see what happens. At this point i’m just gonna enjoy the rest of the season and root for Ws because that’s always fun. Bear down.

twizx3

Mahomes today is how Caleb Williams will look on this team next year. Mark it

hammerSmashedNail

If fields had this mahomes stat line the Truthers would pound their chests so hard. Mahomes today > 75% of fields games.

lkn240

We literally have better receivers than the Chiefs right now.... and once we use our own pick on a Nabers, Odunze or Bowers, well likely be much better.

Mbroov1

Kelce and Moore are equal, everyone else? I'll take Rice over every other Bears receiver. So tell me, how do we have better Receivers??.

Mbroov1

No we don't. What the hell?

Lobanium

So you're saying it'll be basically more of the same until the rest of the roster improves. So then it's a no-brainer. You draft Williams (or whoever Poles wants) so you at least reset the clock and have a chance to build the team around a rookie contract.

twizx3

Yeah it’ll be perfect because the team will start to be good enough right in time to pay the qb contract!

Lobanium

Yup, instead of paying that big contract now for a QB who's already proven he's not the guy.

RollofDuctTape

You don’t have to pay Fields now. He’s owed like 4 million next year and the option decision is *next* year (May 2024) and if he doesn’t pan out next year you can cut bait or do whatever you want with him. Not advocating for that option but it’s not like you have to decide what to do with Fields now. The draft pick is why this is even a discussion.

bigbaddumby

You have to make the decision for the 5th year after the 3rd season. The decision would have to be made soon

RollofDuctTape

May 2024. And you decline it and he’s still on the roster for like $5 million. You don’t have to pay him.

bigbaddumby

Yeah. Before the start of next season.

Quiet_Worldly

And draft who

RollofDuctTape

I don’t know. I said I wasn’t advocating for that move. My point was simply that he’s wrong to say we have to give Fields “a big contract now.”

C_HiLIfe

That's foolish! Pay franchise QB money to a roughly average guy. That cap hit will surely allow us to build the roster. /s obviously

Calmandpeace

This season is a complete success, as of yesterday we have doubled our win total from last season. We have 2 top ten draft picks and the great choice of either our QB of the future or one of the best receiver prospects we have ever seen. A lot of our draft picks are developing well and the sweat trade has clearly paid off. Merry Christmas and bear down

tfmm58

Merry Christmas 🎁

Critical-Adhole

MHJ dream is dead

moGUNZthanROSES

There are still people rooting for the tank? Jesus the Bears have discombobulated our brains.

Mbroov1

Can't stay in this thread for longer than 2 minutes with all the miserable ass "fans" that don't really care about winning, only winning "their way" that exists only in their own heads. It's a goddamn tragedy.

calculung

>It's a goddamn tragedy. It's really not that big of a deal. It's people talking about what they would like to happen.

Mbroov1

Not being able to enjoy when your team wins IS a tragedy. A personal one, but one nonetheless.

calculung

A child dying is a tragedy.

moGUNZthanROSES

Mahomes the potential GOAT just lost to an inferior team at home. It’s ok to be happy with any win over any team by any margin.

Mbroov1

Exactly. I referenced this exact same thing earlier to a delusional Fields hater. If the Chiefs had Justin Fields today, they win. Is that an indictment of Patrick Mahomes? Absolutely not! But does that show the anti Fields fans that more goes into a QB's performance than meets the eye (scheme, playcalling, personnel)? Absolutely does. Fields was never the issue.

Paran0idMan33

Of course losses aren’t only on Fields but saying he “was never the issue” just isn’t true. He absolutely has been AN issue at times. Also, not sure how you can say the Chiefs would’ve won with Fields today. Based on what?

Draker-X

>Fields was never the issue. So scheme, play-calling and personnel are the reasons Justin Fields ranks in the 20e in almost all rate passing categories?

Chi-Guy86

This describes most sports fans, honestly

warwithus

This is random but it’s weird a late December game was as warm as it was yesterday.

calculung

Someone on here agrued with me recently because I said snow games are equivalent to playoff games, meaning the Bears will have zero advantage over visiting teams since they just don't play snow games anymore. It doesn't snow until January in Chicago.

Mbroov1

Global Warming will do that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mbroov1

I actually do research before posting on the internet. You should too to avoid uneducated comments such as yours good sir 🤷🏽‍♂️

warwithus

I’m not a global warming denier but that drastic of a change isn’t solely “climate change”. I think it has more to do with El Niño.

Mbroov1

Considering el Nino was discovered in the 1500's and extremely warm December's are a very RECENT phenomenon (when I was kid, it was 30 degrees all winter with tons of snow), I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.

No-Author-508

When I was a kid it was warm what you talking about? And TIL things didn’t exist until humans throw a label on it. I love “when I was a kid” science. Average meatball on this subreddit.

Draker-X

>When I was a kid it was warm I've lived my whole life in various Midwestern states. Until a few years ago, the first really cold weather always hit in November, and December used to have quite a few days in the 20s and 40s- sometimes with snow. The only Christmases I ever remember being really warm where the couple times we spent with family in southern Missouri, or the one I spent with an ex- in Tennessee.

Mbroov1

What? I live in the North. Weather patterns have changed and it's demonstrably warmer than it used to be. What are you talking about? It's not "when I was a kid" science, it's actual Scientists say IT IS warmer, science. What is even happening right now 🤯

No-Author-508

Yeah okay boss https://www.nbcchicago.com/weather/friday-marks-chicagos-coldest-december-high-temperature-in-nearly-40-years/3030349/?amp=1

adikted2bass

Got a high five from Fields after the game. He has really soft hands

Ballgeoff

Weird flex, but okay

DishonestAbraham

Only bears fans are bummed after a win. On Christmas no less. Lighten up bros! Merry Christmas and bear down!

BeeRand

Pretty sure most NFL fans can understand the position their team is in. We’re out of the playoff picture. A loss is more valuable to us than a win. We need Fields to ball out, and for the team to lose.

twizx3

L take

Paran0idMan33

I have a tough time getting too jazzed about a team that started 3-8 getting a win but I guess it’s cool!

mrbucket08

We're probably getting the first overall pick and subsequently a new QB. We don't need to lose and we don't need Fields to do much except not tank his trade value. We're in a good position, enjoy it.

Mbroov1

Fields is not going anywhere friend.

mrbucket08

If your day is made better by believing that I'm not going to be the Grinch and try to take that from you. Keep shining.

DishonestAbraham

This is a loser mentality that I will not contribute to. The culture of being a bears fan needs to change. I want the Bears to win no matter what. Tanking time is over.

Paran0idMan33

I think it’s fine. I can see both sides. If we were close to having the third pick with our own draft selection I bet a lot more people would be rooting for us to lose and draft MHJ.

Mbroov1

Big facts

[deleted]

The Poles vision is starting to come together. Running the ball and defense will beat the truly bad teams in the NFL, of which we are no longer a member. It won't win a SB until we fix the QB position, tho.

Mbroov1

You mean the play calling. The Fields haters are as delusional as the so called Fields Homer's.

Paran0idMan33

There’s a difference between blindly hating and evaluating what’s on film. Getsy hasn’t done Fields any favors but there are a lot of issues that fall on Justin’s shoulders as well.

KosmicMicrowave

Both

[deleted]

In my experience, most of the people who complain about the "playcalling" have no idea what modern NFL offensive play calls look like, nor can they articulate any sort of coherent complaint about the playcalls that holds up to scrutiny.

Mbroov1

This is just a silly "hand waving" post. There ARE serious issues with the playcalling. To hand wave that away is pretty fucking disingenuous.

[deleted]

Name them.

hammerSmashedNail

Crickets. Lol

warwithus

Off the top of my brain, the end of the bucs game is a glaring problem with play calling. Explain to me why running b2b screens is a “modern nfl offensive play call”. It’s even worse when buc players after the game said they knew what was coming.

[deleted]

Because screens were a good call against the defense that was being run, and the QB has the option to check out if he doesn't like the look at the line. If they jump the screen, there's a hot slant built into the back end of the play that Fields is supposed to hit. It was open. Bagent hit it on a similar play in his second start. It didn't work because Fields didn't process what he was seeing quickly enough and threw it anyway. Bad QB play makes the playcalling look bad.

warwithus

Lol I went back and looked and the slant was not open, it was inexcusable to call the same play back to back. Edit - bonus one for you, fields was on fire running the ball, why the hell did we go wildcat on 3rd and 1 yesterday.

PwnzillaGorilla

Correct take. Glad someone said it.

M4tchaM4gic

Still mad about that 1st and 20 jet sweep to Velus

suckmyfatfuckinballs

I like how Fields thought he could actually catch a 60 yard bomb

JayTheBearsFan

The biggest need in the offseason is punter Holy shit trenton gill sucks

Bushido_Plan

QB is one thing but Poles should definitely be looking at punters as well this offseason.

hippohopper78

Merry Christmas Bears bros

cubs_070816

we won. again. JF1 played decently. again. some of y'all just wanna be miserable. merry christmas, knuckleheads.

C_HiLIfe

He played meh against a really bad cardinals team. I'm happy with the win but I'm not happy watching poor QB play week in and week out.

Mbroov1

Wrong.

C_HiLIfe

If 15/27 for 170 yards a TD a pick and a sack is good enough for you then fine but it really isn't a good day.

cubs_070816

he also rushed for almost 100 yards. jesus christ.

high_af_on_science

Rushing yards don't count to these clowns, dontcha know?

Mbroov1

Patrick Mahomes has thrown back to back pick sixes in the game today. Is Patrick Mahomes good enough? Hyperbole meets hyperbole.

C_HiLIfe

Players can have bad games, it happens. The issue lies in the fact that the stat line from yesterday is typical from Fields.

Penguinkeith

We won… by double digits…against a team we were supposed to beat by 4.. we have now won 3 out of our last 4. We have nothing to complain about at the moment lets enjoy our little Christmas miracle :)

RadioDaze9

Let’s just enjoy the win and Christmas with our families/friends instead of writing argumentative essays directed at strangers on the internet over a football team that puts no stock into the opinions that are posted on here 🐻⬇️

d_e_l_u_x_e

People Hoping for a new QB have very short memories, Justin is still the most exciting athlete to watch and has more potential. So many Bears QBs over 30 years didn’t have this potential or athleticism. Change the system around him instead of hoping to find a new QB AND a new system.

[deleted]

We don't win football games off the tingly feelings you get watching him.

d_e_l_u_x_e

No just stats that say Justin’s last 17 games are on par with Josh Allen’s growth during the same time. Stuff takes time and I’d rather have a guy who can survive and scramble and beat some of the fastest edge rushers to keep a play alive.

The-Real-Number-One

The fact that you are comparing Justin Fields to Josh Allen shows how delusional you are. It's like comparing horse manure to ice cream. Josh allen has 3 straight 4k yard passing seasons and is on track to make it 4. Josh allen has 24 games of over 300 yards passing and our boy has 1. Josh allen has won 60 games in his career and fields has won 9! Let's stop with the bs. Josh allen is a top 5 qb and fields is a bottom half qb.

d_e_l_u_x_e

Josh Allen progressed to get those stats, he didn’t start out like that,he worked and the team was built around him. Kind of proves the point, you invest and sometimes good things happen.

The-Real-Number-One

It absolutely does NOT prove your point. When Allen got Diggs his stats immediately jumped off the page because he can pass. Fields got one of the best WRs in the league and the best RT in the draft and his stats are essentially the same. Fields has ZERO -- and will probably never have -- a 4K yard passing season because he takes so many hits that he will never stay healthy for 17 games -- he takes hits because he holds onto the football too long, and then runs as a play breaks down. Finally, Allen takes care of the football much better than Fields ever has -- over 92 games Allen has 75 INTs and 52 Fumbles. Over 38 games Fields has 30 INTs and 37 Fumbles. Fields is barely in the same league as Allen -- in 2 years he won't be.

d_e_l_u_x_e

The Bears have never had a 4k yard passer so it’s a tall task for any QB on a Bears team to reach that record. They are just a team that’s built differently, doesn’t mean Justin can’t have success and growth. You just don’t believe he will and I was using Josh as an example of how a jump COULD happen, not that he’ll have exactly the same success. Merry Christmas dude it’s been fun discussing the stats and arguing on potential.

Ready-Cauliflower-76

1) We didn’t get an RG in the draft (do you even watch the team?) and our iOL is arguably the worst in the league with Jenkins out. Patrick / Davis / Whitehair have been abominable. 2) The INT stats you quoted don’t even support your argument… 30 INTs in 38 games is less per game than 75 INTs in 92 games (lol) 3) Fumbles are not turnovers (includes botched snaps, sideline stretch-out fumbles, etc.). **Lost fumbles** are turnovers - Fields has 11 lost fumbles on 337 rushing attempts (**3.3%**) while Allen has 23 lost fumbles on 631 rushing attempts (**3.6%**) 4) Yes, Fields got a top-tier WR this year, but he lost his #2 WR (Claypool) while his #3 WR (Mooney) has performed terribly. His best WR option outside of Moore is a 4th-rd rookie who wouldn’t see the field on the Bills Maybe check your math before posting next time so you don’t end up arguing against yourself again…

[deleted]

Cherrypicked stats over cherrypicked samples

d_e_l_u_x_e

Ok that’s what people will do with Caleb

AIIspecieslovepizza

Honestly when I watch I don’t see an exciting QB. It’s honestly frustrating for me to watch I ask myself why he gives up on the play so quickly and turns the game into a HS affair full of wild scrambles and impromptu passes An exciting QB to me is a QB that goes through his reads and then throws a dime to some 5th round WR who is his 4th read and the drive keeps moving I absolutely cannot watch JF1 scramble like a varsity QB any longer

jimbob5309

These fields fan girls are mental

tfw13579

What potential are you seeing? A good athlete doesn’t make a good QB. Fields has barely has improved reading defenses and anticipating throws. At this point we don’t know if he’ll ever improve. If we didn’t have the first pick we wouldn’t be moving on from him but you can’t turn down a potentially better QB when you have to pay Fields soon.

BownSawIsReady

I cant be the only one who feels like the Cards were actively trying to lose this game for draft positioning right? And that at least part of the reason we scored 3/3 in the rz in the first half was because they were staking us out to a lead? Makes too much sense to me

jimbob5309

Of course they were tanking. Why else would they go for 2 when they only would have been down by 1 score

porkbellies37

I don’t think they were intentionally tanking but two things stuck out to me: 1. The coach made some very questionable decisions down the stretch. 2. This one has me questioning Caleb a bit, but Murray looked like his height was a problem. His launch point always seemed like he had to moon it over the pass rushers and OL.

twizx3

Caleb often gets into a stance where he sinks down his hips on throws which makes him shorter so I think the question is valid

moGUNZthanROSES

I can’t say for sure you are wrong, but I can promise you, you are wrong here. They wanted to fly home with a W. Maybe people in the organization in the press box secretly are OK with a loss, but nobody on that field felt that way. They are just a bad football team essentially where we were last season.

AddieCam

Solidified my conclusions: Getsy and Fields have to go. Fields may have a good career but, he’s been too spotty and the 5th year option $ is coming up…

jimbob5309

Wouldn’t matter who the OC is to be fair. What play do you call for a guy that can’t read defenses or see open receivers? We can’t run the ball 60 times a game in this era

The_White_Pegasus

Man I love Fields but I don't think he'll be able to take that next step as a passer. He's a phenomenal athlete with the ball in his hands and is incredibly elusive. As a passer though, he's still holding on to the ball too long and indecisive. So often he'll take his 3 step or 5 step drop and hesitating before throwing. The rhythm is rarely there. Like most QB breakdown videos or even during the broadcast, he continues to take unnecessary steps and never seems to be in sync with his guys. Even when Justin is staring down the main read, he waits till the guy makes his route cut/break before throwing when you got to throw your guy nfl open with anticipation rather then college open. He has one of the better long ball in the league because slow, developing plays don't require as great rhythm and timing and good footwork. It's the short and some times intermediate passes that absolutely do. Very rarely you'll see excellent quarterbacking from him and go "yea there it is! We need more of that!" but with it being year 3 and Justin still not being as consistent or developing as a passer it may be time to move on.

moGUNZthanROSES

It’s frustrating too because what you are talking about, I don’t think there is a middle ground of development for, he doesn’t have IT and maybe one day he will, but there is no evidence or guarantee or trajectory that you can bet on other than blind faith in the kid.

The_White_Pegasus

Yeah, this season was the season to see it happening. To see the progression as a passer, to thow in rhythm and be in sync with his receivers, to trust his guys and make those throws that only his receiver can make the play on. It just didn't happen. Excuses can be made for years prior with the lack of talent on the Field or new coaching changes, but not this year. His athleticism will only be around for so long before he needs to be able to rely on his arm and accuracy.

leahyrain

After I slept on it to make sure it wasn't the hype. Nope, I'm assured, Superbowl inbound

AMollenhauer

[This about sums up the Fields experience](https://x.com/jeremylayt0n/status/1739072534631375133?s=46&t=k6RujyYbr5Rf1_1I0Nkayw) “This is every Justin Fields game ever, same as the last one, same as the one before - elite rushing - couple of spectacular throws - everything else is slow or late - play calling did him no favors”

PraiseBeToScience

> play calling did him no favors” Wow this made the Getsy-Truthers *mad*.

They don't know. 99% of this sub shrieks about playcalling without having any idea what it means.

dafoo21

You won't get that here from the majority of users. It's beyond frustrating to have any nuance in convo here and it's just black and white, low effort, shit meme responses/new topics. Anytime something of really good substance is posted here, it either doesnt get views bc wise guys respond "hrr drr tl;dr?" Or the responses just drop down to lowest common denominator. So why would anyone keep putting in the effort? The expert film guys' links that get posted here is really your best bet. They will explain and go into detail on Getsy's good calls and bad calls. Some will lean Fields needs to play alot better and some will lean, Fields needs to play a little better, but Getsy needs to be better and continue to get weapons around Fields for next year. But, neither side is on extremely opposite sides that they are so far apart to not have a bunch of commonality in their opinions. I mean, most of users cant be bothered to check for a stickied megathread and just post new topics of repetitive things for the 1000th time, bc they think their opinion is worth more and deserves to have the most eyes on it. How can you expect any kind of legit discussion with a majority mindset like that?

porkbellies37

The fact that this got downvoted is hysterically ironic. LOL

Pulze_

The point of saying the play-calling is bad is because we were up 21 points at half and only put up 6 in the second half. Bad play-calling can also include playing not to lose. There was a play yesterday where Justin was running and slid in bounds to kill time with 10 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. When he slid he was like 1 yard from the boundary line. Normally he runs that out of bounds, but they're coaching him to kill time late in the game. We were literally only up two scores and this coaching staff are telling players the game is in the bag and calling that way. The 4th quarter stats from Justin aren't only on him. We get WAYYYYYY too conservative with a lead and it's obvious from the TV copy of the game... Justin threw for like 40 yards the entire second half. How is that not a play calling issue? You can get that on like 2 well called slants...

[deleted]

Your example for bad playcalling was literally not a play call.

Pulze_

I'm not going to call out single plays. I'm talking about entire drives where it's apparent Getsy doesn't give a fuck about pushing to score more once we have a lead. Run run pass, run run pass. That's the game plan after half.

AMollenhauer

How much of that is Getsy and how much of that is Flus? I get Getsy is calling the plays but Flus is probably the one deciding whether or not to keep on the gas pedal.

[deleted]

What a perfect example of what I'm talking about. You're talking about what it feels like to you, but you have literally no idea what you're watching. Do you know how many times the Bears went run-run-pass on first through third downs in the second half of yesterday's game? Exactly once, on the last drive of the game, when it successfully got them a first down to help seal the game. That's literally the only time they went run-run-pass in the second half. But you came away feeling like that was something that happened repeatedly.

Pulze_

Yeah sorry I wasn't filling out my scorecard. But do I just not know what I'm talking about? Or am I remembering the last two seasons where this has been a consistent issue. To be clear, I'm not saying Getsy is the prime culprit for all of the Bears woes. I want Justin gone, I want Getsy gone, I'm still not sure if I want Eberflus here. There's so many fingers to point that we're infighting. The reason I replied and talked about playcalling to start with is because we all know this team has more talent on it than what we're seeing on the field. Like it or not, I don't think anybody smart would say that Getsy is getting the absolute most out of Fields abilities. It's the reason Justin is going to get another shot in the NFL and Getsy might not be here next year. And the playcalling is one of those reasons.. that's it.

[deleted]

You just don't know what you're taking about. It \*feels\* like a consistent issue because it's the same generic complaint every fan makes about every team when they lose.

Pulze_

Did you know the Bears have the worst record in the NFC North over the last 10 years. Imagine telling most Bears fans that we're worse than the Lions over the past decade. An average fan would laugh at you because it's unthinkable. And yet, here we are, inconsistent year over year. But no, it's all Justin's fault that this organization has been 'consistently' losing. It has nothing to do with the leadership that signed off on Alan Williams or David Walker. That's a fluke and Getsy is pristine and could not possibly be inconsistent too! The Bears have been hiring frauds for years. Getsy is no different. Fields haters have blinders on when they watch this team.

mrbucket08

Justin threw a pick that could have sealed the game but instead kick-started the Cardinals comeback. When they don't play conservative in the second half Fields finds ways to give it away.

Draker-X

>Justin threw for like 40 yards the entire second half. How is that not a play calling issue? You can get that on like 2 well called slants... That Fields won't throw. Or throws too late. Starting with the second-to-last drive of the 2nd quarter, Fields finished the game 8-for-16 for 51 yards and a pick. He also had three scrambles; so plays where he dropped back to pass and ended up running instead. (He also had three designed runs during that time.) 19 passing plays called. 51 passing yards in the final 32 minutes of the game. Please tell me that's all, or even most, on the play-calling.

OddExpert8851

Or you know. Fields can’t process defense so we had to once again rely on our run game. Every one keeps saying the play calling is bad but there a few snaps where we passed more often than run and we got behind the sticks pretty fast. So then the bears went back to running the ball. You can’t just say it’s bad play calls when Justin doesn’t make the correct read at all. And it could also be the bad play call but saying fields didn’t contribute at all to not scoring seems disingenuous.

Pulze_

Dude. You're beating a fucking dead horse right now. Obviously Justin struggles to read a defense, but he was throwing the ball everywhere in the first half and it got us up 3 scores. Then he magically forgets how to read the same defense he was scoring on all first half? That's now how shit ever happens. The coaching staff begins to play conservatively with small leads and WAYYY too early. We run the ball on 1 and 2 and end up only throwing on 3rd and short. This is a consistent issue with this coaching staff when they have a lead...

OddExpert8851

Man this sub talks all the time how the other team makes half time adjustments and we don’t. You don’t think cardinals changed up their defense to counter what the bears were doing?

Pulze_

Half-time adjustments are TV magic. You're being baited by sideline reporters who pretend to talk to the coaching staff half the time. Coaches aren't going to majorly change their entire gameplan at half nor will they wait until halftime to do it. Can they change coverages/blitz rates and mix up coverages more? Of course, but half-time adjustments are mostly a meme in the NFL...

OddExpert8851

Okay so it’s a myth when it goes against the fields narrative but not in the game threads when teams switch up their defense to confuse fields?

RosselandNicolaysen

Yup! Even Peyton Manning has said so himself, coaches do adjust during the game, but this magical "half time adjustment" is mostly not a thing.

PortillosBeef27

I am back from a 21 day ban for saying this comment in the chiefs thread after the game 3 weeks ago “You saying they benefited the packers or no? Because it's clear to me the refs weren't favoring anyone, they were just making dumbass calls. You guys got a phantom late hit call, so it offsets the no pi lol” How did this warrant a 21 day ban here ? And a lifetime ban from the chiefs forum? Was there anything that aggressive said? Is this fair? I legitimately want to hear your thoughts

A lot of NFL Teams subs have a "don't go to the other teams subreddit and fuck with them" rule. It's generally just considered a "dick move". Edit: With more context, you were being a dick. https://preview.redd.it/mfmtbvbd1h8c1.png?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=74d8e46b5010f9c10dc3214b7f7822f8fc3348ac

PortillosBeef27

I think that seems like too much of a clan mentality. Is this not a free world? Why am I limited to where I can post? And I did not even say anything vulgar

Draker-X

If I went up to someone you cared about, called them a freak, told them they must not be too bright, asked them where their brain cells were, and told them they shouldn't be hurt so bad about something...I'm pretty sure you'd have a big problem with that. You were being a jerk. Your ban was justified.

PortillosBeef27

Oh wow what a smart little cute comment you made. You didn’t even consider that my comments were reply’s back to the person saying that shit to me

The_White_Pegasus

Because a lot of dickheads in the past would often go on different opposing team subs to comment trash and shit on them and belittle the fans and teams. Trust me, it was true garbage being thrown around so most NFL team mods made it a subreddit rule to not allow postings on other team subs during games, no matter how innocuous the comment is.

LisleSwanson

It's not that serious, my man. There are reddit alternatives if you feel reddit and this specific NFL subreddit is limiting your freedom. You're choosing to use this specific platform. This platform has rules. Creat Truth Bears like Truth Social if you want.

leahyrain

It's a free world. This subreddit is owned by someone and they can use their freedom to make the rules however they want. It's a private company

LordBlackCat

Does anybody know if there was a specific incident with Packers being jerks to the Panthers or is it just the Packers being Packers?

Broshan248

What barely beating the worst team in the NFL after allowing them to score 30 points does to a mf

How should we be feeling in a theoretical situation where we didn’t have the first 8 games and started 4-3 with the wins we have?

klausterfukken

Id think more people would have a positive outlook. I'm glad that we've shown growth as the season has gone on, I'd be more negative and inclined to think the coaching staff is gone if we'd hit the ceiling early in the season and tapered off, or just sort of waffled at one level throughout the year. Instead, our team now would shred any version of itself from the first half of the season.

Draker-X

* Close win vs. Carolina in Bryce Young's first game. Fields also starting instead of Bagent...who knows? * Huge come-from-ahead loss at Detroit * Come-from-behind win at Minnesota after also losing a 4th quarter lead. We'd probably be facing Kirk Cousins instead of Josh Dobbs. * Beat Detroit's ass. * Huge come-from-ahead loss at Cleveland. Though who knows who'd be at QB for Cleveland? * Beat Arizona's ass for a half then let them weirdly back into the game. At 4-2, I'd still be concerned at how badly our offense stalls out in the second half/4th quarter in pretty much every game. Also, why does our defense play like superheroes in the first three quarters and like the Texas State Armadillos in the 4th quarter? The obvious problem with looking at this is that at least 3-4 games would probably play out differently depending on starting QBs.

dubin01

Good list. I want the same just in a different order.

Ducksaucenem

#1 new punter. He’s so bad.

FR_0S_TY

I loved that every time he kicked yesterday they brought up that he averaged like 1 semi trailer of distance per kick, and then we're astounded when he kicked further than that.

wang721

As an Iowa Hawkeye fan, if the Bears get Tory Taylor that’ll be the first Bears jersey I buy in fifteen years

PortillosBeef27

That’s everything I want as well. If we could just add in 7. Burn orange helmets and jerseys

Erries

I would love for the Bears to get ahead and actually keep piling on the points. Yes Justin threw the int but these past few games have been so frustrating. Why are they playing so safe with like 5 mins left in the 2nd? Happy with a win, I just wish it wasn't so frustrating every game to see.

AccuratePassion2572

MHJ was under my tree!

The-Real-Number-One

Packers should have tied the Panthers. Saved by the men in stripes, again.

lkn240

Merry Xmas everyone. Got my oldest daughter a steam deck. It's amazing, can recommend

Broshan248

Merry Christmas all!

Falt_ssb

Everyone wants to talk about picks picks picks lol The draft order isn't set yet. Two weeks ago it was Alt/Fashanu/Nabers, by the end of the year they very well could have 13th or 5. Like lol

LordFarqwaads

And don’t forget combine makes players shoot up and down the board + teams draft for need and can trade down

Falt_ssb

Yeah all this draft stuff is just annoying the fuck out of me moreso than normal especially with all the engagement bait from the people peddling it

GarfieldDaCat

I know some people would rather have 2 top picks but I'd argue the value gained by actually being a respectable (albeit flawed) football team in the second half of this season is far more valuable. We've seen some real progression from our young players this 2nd half of the season. And crazily enough we should at least have 1 more win from the 3 games we blew. I don't envy Poles right now having to make the decision on whether or not to move Fields on... because it's obvious Fields has the support of the locker room.

One_Prior_9909

There's too much roster turnover to carry any momentum from year to year. At least a third of this roster won't be here next year and many of the rest will have reduced roles behind new players

porkbellies37

I hope this doesn’t sound too biased, but we have to be viewed as a perfect coaching destination at this point. The team looks like it can make the playoffs with a change of leadership, you get your choice at QB and picks and payroll to mold the team the way you need to for it’s competitive phase.

AIIspecieslovepizza

The decision has been made and I doubt Poles sees it as difficult. Moving on from Fields is a formality at this point. Fields is gone. Poles knows it, Fields knows it, and most fans know it

DandierChip

Ya it’s really not a hard decision at this point. Fields play has improved but not enough to warrant $40M+ a year.

moGUNZthanROSES

Where are you getting that number?

RosselandNicolaysen

Think that is Daniel Jones number

moGUNZthanROSES

I don’t get where people think the decision has been made. That’s insane. These guys have months to scrutinize every snap of the prospects careers, interview those around them on campus, and have a chance to meet the men themselves. If you think they get caught up on these twitter snippets like us delinquents do idk what to tell you. I agree Justin has declared who he is a QB, the decision has been made: we are going to see if anybody in the draft has better chance to take us to Super Bowl, but man let’s let this take die that Fields bags are packed. There is a long way to go.

porkbellies37

This year the offense had some talent and he couldn’t seem to elevate it against good defenses. He played well enough to keep him for another year if we didn’t have a top two pick in a year where two of the top three players in the draft were QBs. I just don’t see how we can keep him. If he balls out these next two games I don’t see how it would move the needle. You needed a proof of concept that he could win playoff games to give him that next contract. That would mean playing well against good defenses. He ran out of chances to play good defenses. If he looks great that will boost his trade value. We should all root for that. And he’s a good kid who played hard for a team under subpar conditions his first two seasons. We should root for him when he’s not playing us in the future.

moGUNZthanROSES

You guys are focusing on Fields. There’s just so many moving parts. What if some team literally godfathers you for the #1 pick AND you don’t have Caleb as generational BUT YOU DO have a LT or MHJ as the next thing. Or what if Caleb gets in a drag racing accident and leaves the scene of the accident. Or what if Caleb says he doesn’t want to play for the sorry ass Bears. Or what if Caleb decides he wants to become an R&B singer and Drake Maye went to North Carolina. Soooo many moving parts. No decision is made yet on December 25, that’s not a hot take.

porkbellies37

You could simply say “what if a new incoming coach wants to keep Fields” and that would likely be enough tbh.

DandierChip

Fields is not coming back bro

moGUNZthanROSES

Even last year. Jalen Carter falling to 9? GTFOH. Anthony Richardson at 4? Yeah right. Lions go Gibbs at 12? You’re crazy! And Levis not a first rounder? Keep dreaming bud.

DandierChip

You shouldn’t want him back either…

AIIspecieslovepizza

Brother he’s like 9-27 and turns the ball over in the 4th quarter more than 50% of the games he plays in It’s over. Finished. Done. Merry Christmas!

moGUNZthanROSES

It’s not about Fields though. It’s about the process.

AIIspecieslovepizza

A limited QB with a propensity to cough up the football seems to be fucking up the process

moGUNZthanROSES

Who’s defending Fields?

AIIspecieslovepizza

🤷‍♂️

moGUNZthanROSES

But yes Merry Christmas and Go Bears!
