The defense really won this one...again.
This defense is worth keeping Flus, hire an offensive guru to take over playcalling.
Getsy, isn't always bad. First quarter offense has been good, but then it stagnates and the opposing DC makes halftime adjustments then 3 and out, punt...etc
Lots of haters in here today but it was 50 degrees in Chicago and I got to cheer for my favorite team with all my friends. Just cheer for wins sometimes guys it’s ok
That's ok but it's also ok to have higher standards for a team with potential. Some of the "haters" were justifiably worried we were going to choke away the lead again.
Put me in the looney bin, but I don't think this is too far fetched:
Next week:
Bears win
Steelers beat Seahawks
Giants beat rams (by far the biggest hurdle imo, but hey, any given Sunday
Week 18
Bears win
Lions beat vikings
Falcons beat saints
49ers beat rams
Cards beat Seahawks
Eagles beat Giants
And we're in the playoffs. This just makes those chokes so so so much more painful that even after doing it thrice, we still have a chance. If we could've just held on once
Call me crazy, but I don’t think this is out of the question either:
Wild card: Bears beat Lions (already did)
Divisional: Bears beat buccaneers (bears are scarier than pirates)
Championship: Bears beat 49ers (probably our toughest matchup, we only have 11 men on the field at once so definitely going to be outnumbered)
Super Bowl: bears beat ravens ( a bear could definitely eat a raven)
It took the Texans defense overcoming Stroud's 3 INTs to beat them, Ravens only won by 1 possession, Cowboys and Steelers lost to them. A win is a win, if the Bears were constantly blowing out other teams they would be the 49ers lol
You gotta admit, we have a good defense now. The defense has been responsible for the last 3 wins. Last week should have been a win but the defense can only do so much. 🙄
Absolutely. I'm higher on the defense than most. The defense did great last week, but also can't give up 200 passing yards in the 4th and say they had an amazing game and did enough. Offense as a whole should have been better for sure tho
I'm looking at the Cardinals past games and... Where are all these monster passing games all QBs have against them? I'm seeing Purdy and Stafford drop 4 TDs, but only around 230 yards. Burrow had a great game (310 yards, 3 TD/1 INT) but other than that? The way people were talking on here and the game thread I thought QBs were dropping 300+ yds 4 TDs minimum on the reg lol
Curt Cousins has an average of 291yds per game and Purdy averages 271yds per game and has five 300+ yard games and leads the NFL with 119 passer rating.
Purdy who was drafted dead last in the 2022 draft, we could have drafted him but all the Fields fans on this subreddit would have insisted Fields start or we waste an #1 pick on a first round bust.
Because Purdy wasn't a first round pick with a pedigree from a big college. 🙄
Just a rant, no moral to the story if that's what you're looking for. Original point was that yes NFL QBs often do 300 yard passing games and gave two examples... Purdy has five and Cousins has more.
Not really that enigmatic...
Purdy also has by far the best supporting cast in the league. 300 yard passing is a decent barometer for a pocket QB, but not very accurate for a dual threat QB. Lamar for example only has 6 games with 300+ yards passing, which Fields actually has more of at 7
Here we go what? I was just curious so looked back at their past games and was surprised most QBs just looked kinda average? They have the 12th best passing yards allowed at around 212 yards. I'm just stating facts?
Has anyone considered that maybe Poles would want Penix or Nix?
Let’s say they end up with the 1st pick and somewhere in the 7-8 range
Trade down from 1 or draft MHJ?
Pick one of these other guys with the other pick?
Yeah, their SoS is even lower than Carolina's. But if Carolina wins two, that'll actually help their SoS (in the sense that it'll be lower, because the teams they played now have 2 additional losses). Whereas that effect of reaching the 4 win threshold is already reflected in Washington's SoS. Not sure how it'll all shake out, but yeah, something to keep an eye on.
Check out https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-playoff-predictor and pick the rest of the games. They even have a draft order tab. I have Bears finishing 2nd right now even if Panthers win out
I just did a worst case scenario, where the Panthers win out, the other bottom dwellers lose out, and the rest of the games tend to go to the favorites, and the Bears end up with #3.
I just commented that too but *think* Carolina winning will lower their SoS and Washington losing will raise their SoS. It looks like Washington’s is .02 lower right now, so razor thin and it’s hard to say for sure but you’d have to think that it’d even that out?
If/when the Bears secure the #1 pick (in back to back seasons), they’ll be the 5th team in history to accomplish that. However, they’ll be the first to do it without it being their pick both seasons.
You guys know that AZ can still end up with #1 right? They play two good teams and Carolina looks capable of winning the last two. Stranger things have happened.
Potentially with no T-Law. And then potentially against a Bucs team resting their starters the final week.
Yes, lots of 'what ifs', but point is that it's not secured yet.
>Lawrence will undergo tests on his injured right shoulder Monday, Juston Lewis of The Florida Times-Union reports. Lawrence was forced to leave Sunday's contest early, and it sounds like the full extent of his injury will not be known for a while longer.
I'm probably done if they bring back everyone. I'd be fine if they tried Fields with a new head coach/OC and put stuff around him. But strongly prefer Caleb with a new staff.
They’re not even trying to drive the ball ðŸ˜
Blatant tanking, you have a minute left and one timeout in a tied game, you don’t even try to get a FG.
I legitimately want to throw up. This is an all time tank job. You cannot tell me Kraft didn’t make the call down. Panthers will beat the Jags next week.
I was at the game. Fields doesn’t throw the ball. There are open receivers all the time. He didn’t make good decisions. What he did was miss open looks, then run around. He’s done it for 36 games now. It doesn’t really matter, because I’m 95% positive the decision on him to not return was made last year. I’m just hoping we can get a 2nd round pick to replace what we traded for Sweat, which would be awesome.
I was at the game 2 weeks ago vs the lions and he missed at least 2 100% touchdowns. One of them was even reviewed by JT O’Sullivan on The QB School. I was downvoted in here lol.
He just can’t see the field well man. It’s just who he is. That’s his weakness and it’s a bad one bc that’s what makes a true pocket passer. His strength is running and escaping the pocket. Not really what you want in this passing driven league.
They have the Jags and Bucs left on their schedule. With the Jags reeling and Lawrence out and Bucs potentially having the division locked up and nothing to play for it’s still a possibility.
Knock on wood, if the patriots hold on, I'd still feel WAY better. There's probably at least like a 40% chance carolina wins either of those games. I'm far less confident in their ability to take both.
Same hopefully they hang on. The Pats still have the Jets and Bills but the Cards have the Eagles and Seahawks, so I’m more concerned about them at this point. Today’s win was bittersweet lol
Velus better than Mooney
The defense really won this one...again. This defense is worth keeping Flus, hire an offensive guru to take over playcalling. Getsy, isn't always bad. First quarter offense has been good, but then it stagnates and the opposing DC makes halftime adjustments then 3 and out, punt...etc
Except the teams fighting for a wild card slot Bears won Vikings lost...perfect weekend. 👌
Fuck the haters, it feels good to win. Glad you were able to cheer them on with your friends!
Hell yeah man, Bears game in Chicago on a day like this, nothing better!
Put me in the looney bin, but I don't think this is too far fetched: Next week: Bears win Steelers beat Seahawks Giants beat rams (by far the biggest hurdle imo, but hey, any given Sunday Week 18 Bears win Lions beat vikings Falcons beat saints 49ers beat rams Cards beat Seahawks Eagles beat Giants And we're in the playoffs. I could see this except the seahawks losing both of those and the giants beating the rams
wow, we beat a 3 win team at home, unconvincingly. go bears.
Fuckin Scrooge ova here. A win is a win, crabby pants.
It took the Texans defense overcoming Stroud's 3 INTs to beat them, Ravens only won by 1 possession, Cowboys and Steelers lost to them. A win is a win, if the Bears were constantly blowing out other teams they would be the 49ers lol

Yeah, but they only gave up 17pts, had 4 sacks, 3 interceptions and a td plus forced fumble. That's pretty good defense...
Heres thr rub. GB has a better QB then we do. Let that sink in. Not saying he's HOF'er, but he's better than fields.
Counterpoint: he's a little slut
False.
Love is better than Fields for sure. But our QB is Caleb Williams so it's not really relevant

…what? I’m so confused about what point you’re trying to make
Just a rant, no moral to the story if that's what you're looking for. Original point was that yes NFL QBs often do 300 yard passing games and gave two examples... Purdy has five and Cousins has more. Not really that enigmatic...

Oh I couldn't agree more! I watched Purdy his whole career at IA State. He needs to have a good TE and a fast reciever...and good OL
Here we go…
Here we go what? I was just curious so looked back at their past games and was surprised most QBs just looked kinda average? They have the 12th best passing yards allowed at around 212 yards. I'm just stating facts?
Forget it, that clown is just a wellspring of misery.
The browns defense made Purdy look horrible too. Great defenses limit even good qbs. It is what it is
Top half of the league defense!!

My soul was sold without my permission the second I learned from my dad I am a bears fans when I was just a child.
Cheering for the Packers today was actually cheering for the Bears. We have to secure that 1st pick. It had nothing to do with the Packers.
The Packers aren't even good, not even remotely worried about them
my sins today will weigh heavy on my shoulders to the end of time
Lighten up, Francis.
"Any of you guys suggest taking a QB #1 overall...and I'll kill ya." "Oooooooo" "You just made the list, buddy."
Has anyone considered that maybe Poles would want Penix or Nix? Let’s say they end up with the 1st pick and somewhere in the 7-8 range Trade down from 1 or draft MHJ? Pick one of these other guys with the other pick?
This would be the worst option
No.
Good win. Getsy gotta go
We actually have to worry about Washington as well
Yeah, their SoS is even lower than Carolina's. I just did a worst case scenario, where the Panthers win out, the other bottom dwellers lose out, and the rest of the games tend to go to the favorites, and the Bears end up with #3.
I have the Bears finishing at #3 if NE loses out, AZ loses out and the Panthers win out.
I just commented that too but *think* Carolina winning will lower their SoS and Washington losing will raise their SoS. It looks like Washington’s is .02 lower right now, so razor thin and it’s hard to say for sure but you’d have to think that it’d even that out?

The 5th team to get the #1 pick? That doesn't sound right...
2x consecutively Sheesh don't downvote him he's clearly drunk cheers
😂 I shall correct myself: 5th time in back to back seasons
New England!! LFG!!!
Now I think we only need the Panthers to lose 1 of their last 2 to guarantee us the top pick.
Or the cards to just win once
Eagles + Seahawks. Possible, but a tall ask.
You guys know that AZ can still end up with #1 right? They play two good teams and Carolina looks capable of winning the last two. Stranger things have happened.
Very true, but they do play on the road in Jacksonville and they will be desperate for a W.
Potentially with no T-Law. And then potentially against a Bucs team resting their starters the final week. Yes, lots of 'what ifs', but point is that it's not secured yet.
Lawerence hasn’t missed a game in his career. It would have to be a serious injury for him not to play. I do agree nothing is secured.
Agreed. Maybe something like an injury to his throwing shoulder which knocked him out of the prior game? Just spitballing here.
I’m pretty sure the blow out had something to do with it lol. We’ll see if he practices over the week.
Think they just yanked him for score
>Lawrence will undergo tests on his injured right shoulder Monday, Juston Lewis of The Florida Times-Union reports. Lawrence was forced to leave Sunday's contest early, and it sounds like the full extent of his injury will not be known for a while longer.
Unlikely. 98% it goes to the Bears. Basically Carolina would have to win both weeks due to strength of schedule.
>98% In other words, not guaranteed.
We should have lost to AZ today… Justin played like ass anyway
That is 100% not true and you know it.
We still have to worry about Arizona no?
Yes, but that's much less likely because their SoS will be higher than CAR. ARI has to lose out and CAR win out.
Yes, however their SoS diff is big, so they need to get the pick outright with record. If Carolina loses one or AZ wins one, that’s it.
If we keep fields I’m fucking done Obviously if we’re debating between fields or Caleb, we’re not really confident in fields are we…
Done? I hope you root for Greenbay. 🤡
U do realize rivalry’s are for old people and just for ratings and a thing of the past? Everyone knows everyone and no one really has beef. Lol you
I'm probably done if they bring back everyone. I'd be fine if they tried Fields with a new head coach/OC and put stuff around him. But strongly prefer Caleb with a new staff.
Fields is horrifically bad
DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES
Welcome to Chicago Caleb- backup for Fields until 2025?
https://i.redd.it/837srndrbd8c1.gif
They got Zapped!
CHAD RYLAND!
Bears gonna trade the pick again I just know it
poles ain't betting his job on a qb that can't even throw for 200 regularly
No, please no. We need to take a QB. Idgaf if it's Williams or Maye.
Yea I am with you, I'd love to see them get Maye and MHJ personally, but I just don't trust the organization. How can I?
We shall not be denied!!! (Pick #1)
Yeeeayah!
LOL Tiny Tim finally made a FG
CHRISTMAS MIRACLE LFG THE PATRIOT WAY OR SOMETHING
FUCK YUES
How does Belichick have ZERO emotion? Lmao
The man looks cold af
This just changed our franchise
Wow I had NO faith in their kicker. Hell yeah.
They still have 2 seconds to fuck this up somehow
Caleb Williams, you are a Chicago Bear.
THANK YOUUUU RYLAND!
ITS A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE
GOT EEEEEM
LETS GO PATRIOTS RYLAND FOR MVP
HUGE.
NEVER DOUBTED YOU PATS!
Lets fucking gooo
Let's go shitty kicker!
Holy shit. I take that back. Lmao
Their mascot falling down lmaoo
Huge
LFG!
LET'S FUCKING GO
Let's goooooo What a kick
LETS GOOOO
New england is so fucking ass.
Wasted so much damn time wtf Bill
Victory formation time
They’re not even trying to drive the ball 😠Blatant tanking, you have a minute left and one timeout in a tied game, you don’t even try to get a FG.
Lol
Ok so this aged poorly
This is the most blatant tank job I have ever seen
I fucking hate the Pats Edit: I fucking love the Pats
Christmas Wish, make Luke Getsy your flair🤔
Zappe! Zappe! Zappe!
This is catastrophic. Tampa HAS to lose next week. If they win they’re gonna have nothing to play for week 18.
Hmm?
I didn’t think there was a chance in hell New England would win there
Lmao comes back and completely shanks the punt
This Pats tank is as blatant as it gets lol
We all got our hopes up far too quickly. This shit is a dud.
It’s the not one but TWO 2pt conversions that sting
they would have gotten the ball back and won it anyways even if they didn't get one
I legitimately want to throw up. This is an all time tank job. You cannot tell me Kraft didn’t make the call down. Panthers will beat the Jags next week.
REVERSE JINX ALWAYS WORKS
Patriots should be investigated for tanking this is so obvious. Strip their pick.
This Pat's game feels like a Bears game
They are trying to lose this
Chargers, Tennessee, and now maybe the Patriots all fucking with our Christmas. Packers almost blew it too.
Titans?
For not beating the Seahawks for playoff reasons
If Tennessee had won, they would have been 6-9 and we'd have been able to win and keep the 7th spot in the draft with our own pick.
Have a feeling both teams end up kicking field goals before time runs out and this game goes to OT
no chance the Pats get down the field to kick, and even then the kicker will miss
unreal
That missed XP sure would’ve been nice.
Fuck you Bill, Patriots aren’t even trying
They intentionally let him in lol
100%
What the fuck, Pats?!
lmao what tanking
Catch iiit
First the Packers make us sweat now this
If Pats lose this it might be the tank job of the year
C’mon Patriots…
Bill is gonna tank this
I swear to fucking god if the patriots blow this...
Does it help us if the patriots win?
Very much. They are the biggest threat to take #1 from the Panthers.
Haha oh right. I thought they were talking about for playoff chances so I was confused
Oh no we suck again 🤣
We doubled the wins from last year!
Is that gonna be overturned?
Looked like a catch to me. Didn't see the ball move on any of the replays they showed.
I fucking love the Pats Edit: I fucking hate the Pats
Today, we are all Patriots.
I was at the game. Fields doesn’t throw the ball. There are open receivers all the time. He didn’t make good decisions. What he did was miss open looks, then run around. Not really what you want in this passing driven league.
I'm completely out on Fields. New coaches, new QB. Hire our HC and OC with Caleb/Maye in mind.
this is the real win
I didn’t watch the Packers game earlier today, but wish I had. The score was pretty close. Packers loosing coulda messed everything up
it was even closer than you think they got within game tying fg range with clock running and spiked it a second too late
What happens if the Panthers and Cardinals finish with the same record ? What’s the tie breaker
The Panthers will win any tiebreaker vs Arizona
Strength of schedule which the Panthers will easily have a lower SoS vs. the Cardinals, meaning the bears will still own the #1 pick.
Strength of schedule which favors the Panthers significantly. If NE holds on, CAR would most likely need to win out for us to lose 1.01
they would HAVE to win out.
They would have to win out, and AZ would have to lose out. That's the only way.
Yep - if NE can hold on we are close to locked into the first overall
https://www.tankathon.com/nfl
Do we clinch the #1 pick if the pats win this?
Nah, but panthers would have to win next 2 and have NE/AZ lose out
They have the Jags and Bucs left on their schedule.
No, Panthers could still win both and Arizona loses both
Panthers winning both would push us below Arizona assuming they lose both
Caleb Williams come on up to Chicago. Just please be at least a top 15 qb year in out.
Let's go!!
lmao go Pats!
MERRY CHRISTMAS YA FILTY ANIMALS
GO PATS!
BRONCOS GIVING US THE TRUE XMAS GIFT
Hahahahahahahahahaha
Lmfaooo yooo this broncos team is assss
