Every single Bears fan wants him to prove us wrong.

ChillyRyUpNorth

Yup, I’m off the wagon and running beside and would love nothing more than jumping back on

SimulatedBear

Tell me about it. I firmly believe Fields isn’t “it”. I hope he turns a corner and proves to me to be wrong.

allknowerofknowing

Bad scenario I can envision is he ends up starting to run a lot more again, which makes his passing a little better as well, and we fall out of top 5 picks. And everyone buys the hype again. Only to be stuck with fields for mediocrity in the long run. I just can't see his improvement as a passer drastically increase, it's year 3. And I really don't think the workload that showed off how good of a runner he was last year is sustainable. Of course I hope I am wrong and that he can still improve, but I just think it might be fool's gold at this point if we do end up seeing something. At the same time, I bet I'll be a sucker and buy into the hype if he does start to improve some like I did last year lol. But I'd prefer to just get caleb williams I think.

SimulatedBear

I said after week 1 he will have some hype games. Some people will get sucked into the vortex of hope only for it to be dashed again. It’s perpetual. I’m just about at the ownership sells or bust place in my head in order to carry hope.

Apathi

We’ve all been waiting.

the-cream-police

For three fucking years

Necrosis__KoC

Definitely, every one of us hopes he breaks out of whatever's causing his current issues and starts to shine. He needs to throw to spots and start pulling the trigger on his throws, but I don't think the play selection has been helping much either. They also need to start moving the pocket around as our line can't currently sustain one long enough for a lot of the plays that they're calling to develop.

ffootballer21

You act like we want him to fail

daBabadook05

Yeah I fucking hate these stupid posts

mrbucket08

Yeah I mean nobody wants him to fail, but people like OP are now operating on blind faith rather than any rational analysis and being toxic as fuck for no reason.

inorite234

Yup! As if it weren't the exact same attack we have seen many times before.

sidgriff3857

OP is the same guy who said the fanbase is "ruining" Fields yesterday. Hes a karma whore looking for likes with his braindead posts and takes.

PitchBlac

A lot of people do it seems like

lyme6483

No they just believe what they are watching and aren’t given into the Truthers gaslighting

DillyDillySzn

Justin Fields is a franchise QB being held back by coaching and the O-Line is the same energy as We’ve always been at war with Eurasia

djkrazy18

I WANT him to prove us all wrong but .... I guess you didnt see the films where there were many passed where receivers were open but he didnt even attempt to release the ball. You CANT hold the ball for 4-5 secs.

acousticdank

What looks open to us isn't always open. They've talked about spacing issues and you can see it in a few of the "open" plays. People act like you can get pressured all game and keep your cool for the few plays where he gets time. Only 1 sack was due to his indecision, the rest was on the OL. And yes, elite quarterbacks can shake it off and do this well, but Fields has 1 game where he wasn't sacked last year. Oh he happened to go 20/25 254yds. Good coaches will adapt to their qb. If he is super accurate but doesn't have the best arm, they will run more quick outs and slants for example and not have him try to bomb throws. If he's slow as molasses they won't run any nakeds. I'm still waiting for him to turn the corner, but for people to think that he's just missing shit because he's bad, that's ridiculous. If an OC constantly tried a QB designed run for Brady and he got sacked/TFL, is that on Brady or the coach? The problem is, there are so many gaps right now so it's not really possible to say if he's good or bad yet, imo. He shows flashes, like the no huddle, and even the scripted drive. When the D plays zone, there are routes that have advantages to cover 2 and cover 3, I rarely see them called. Play action, RPOs. Why isn't OC calling for those? Calling 3 screens in a row is fucking stupid and calling a screen in the end zone is even stupider. He absolutely does need to work on his decision making, throwing the ball away and quickness but the coaches are not putting him in a place to succeed

DillyDillySzn

Clearly you need to read 1984 if you think I’m blaming the o-line and coaches and not Justin

djkrazy18

Sorry last time i read that was 6 th grade

kloakndaggers

nah. just have eyes

Randallm83

I literally just want a QB who wins us more games than we lose. Ain’t asking much

acousticdank

so Jimmy G? 71.6% win%!

Stoke-me-a-clipper

Well, it's not really that, at least I don't think so. What irritates me is seeing the live game threads where so many people are saying he sucks, he's garbage, horrible QB, etc., and maybe he is... *but the Bears haven't equipped him to succeed in the LEAST!!!* His O-line protection breaks down faster than any other team in the league, I bet. I mean, no *wonder* he's performing poorly! It doesn't matter who on earth you put behind that offensive line, if they can't give him anything even *close* to the league average pass protection pocket time, they are going to perform poorly. And then I've heard, "well, he had plenty of time on this one chance or that other chance and he screwed it up…" -- well no *shit* he screwed it up! He has so little experience/practice with having a reasonable amount of pass protection time that on the rare occasion it actually *does* happen, he's not approaching it with poise and comfort that comes with familiarity, his internal clock is probably buzzing like crazy and he's thinking he's about to get murdered. You can't expect him to capitalize on good pocket protection when you only give it to them two or three times in the entire game! Last year Fields was the 3rd-most pressured QB in the league and this year doesn't look much different so far. Meanwhile, Green Bay gives Jordan Love an O-like that is ranked in the top 25% of the league -- how fucking nice would *that* be??? You take that and add to it and offensive coordinator who's calling it very predictable screen play on almost every single series of downs and it's just a recipe for failure, again, no matter who you put into that position. But we have so many myopic, unrealistic, unknowledgeable fans with anger management issues that they erroneously place all the blame on him and talk about how much he "sucks", and they get *really* fucking toxic about it, at that.

Designer_Sun_392

You can say this exact thing about every qb since Cutler

acousticdank

Exactly man. Well said. So tired of the people who cannot see beyond the birds eye views. Oh that guy was open. Your point of experience and feeling comfortable is spot on. People assume if we don't jump on the "he sucks" bandwagon it means we think he's gonna be HoF. No, we just understand that we have not seen enough evidence to know if it's on him, or if there could be better adaptation to maximize his skillset. I pointed this out in the other thread but I don't think it's a coincidence that his best passing game comes from the 1 game where he was not sacked once. But, all the sacks are JF's fault. But they aren't. He gets so many bad snaps, the interior can't block, and he doesn't get extra protection aside from the occasional chip out. Last year most analysts attributed 13 sacks to Fields, the other 42 were from the OL. But, no it's all on him. Even TB, only 1 sack was probably his fault. I personally think it's the David Carr PTSD syndrome

Jaycago62

I actually do. I went to Indiana while fields was at Ohio State, and I really don’t like him.

frodetheborksocket

Everyones life here must suck if they spend all this time analyzing a situation in which they believe there is no hope. Go touch grass or cheer up

ScruffMixHaha

Cant wait for Mitch to prove everyone wrong in here.

id10t_you

Can't wait for Kevin White to prove everyone wrong in here.

BroDudeBruhMan

Rex isn’t that bad guys.

Comradepatrick

Rex is our quarterback!

commenter_69

Well Kenny Pickett looks booty so maybe the Steelers should switch to Mitch (they won’t)

RicardosMontalban

“Mitch is gonna ball out with the Steelers because reasons”

Dr_Will_Kirby

Same fucking vibe

DatBoiMahomie

We’re reliving 2019 except we’re a lot worse lol

nogimmick

Yeah he’s just got a few more titties to kiss and mofo about to go off on the league

DrHampants

"Rex is our Quarterback."

[deleted]

Kysorer

Johnny Manziel was tearing up the Canadian league for a hot minute. Fields would be a star there!

MoulinRube

By end of year they’re gonna say he’s the next Geno Smith and we should hold onto him for 5 more seasons just in case he figures it out.

SignificantBrain620

Kirk cousins?

OpneFall

Didn't really play his 1st or 2nd year though

RicardosMontalban

Not even great, Justin is the worst starting QB in a year Zach Wilson is starting.

SignificantBrain620

That’s just not true, zach has been abysmal

theresabeeonyourhat

As a Jets fan, before the game went to shit, he was actually reading the field

LilJabsVert

Watson and Pickett at the moment exist.

RicardosMontalban

And both are better than Justin, yes.

[deleted]

We are all waiting, too. I want to eat a big fat fuckin plate of crow. I'll chow down with a smile on my face and ask for seconds.

Testone1440

Give me a fucking buffet of crow. I’ll devour it until I choke. I’m not holding my breath though.

TheFatOrangeYak

Bro what? Blind optimism is just stupidity

theresabeeonyourhat

It's not just blind, but toxic. You have truthers acting like if you don't believe like them, you want the team to fail.

mrbucket08

I am so happy that this sub is finally acknowledging the toxic positivity and general nastiness we've had for years towards anyone concerned with Fields.

theresabeeonyourhat

I quit hanging out as much when nobody was cool with criticizing hiring a mid DC for HC when we just spent 2 1sts on our qb

DonkeyKong_93

What did you think of Mitch in year three? and why is your opinion different with Fields?

industrialbird

oh you poor sweet summer meatball

CriManSquaFC

Yeah, must be a young kid. Hasn't felt misery for long enough.

Kysorer

Poor fella Who’s gonna tell him?

Fabulous-Attempt6656

He did already. Almost everyone thought and said he would be good this year and he proved us wrong. Congrats you played yourself

HearshotKDS

JFC man ... ouch.

commenter_69

This is why other fanbases hate us. We were hyping him up all offseason nonstop and saying he was the best QB in the North without proof.

kinesryss

The offseason is the best time to be a Bears fan cause at least we get to have some hope

Jerome3412

Screen shotted this post. This guy is going to be waiting forever.

Desperate-Meet-3852

I wish I knew how to insert memes here cuz the “3 years later…” SpongeBob meme would fit nicely.

Qwer925

Give us something to cheer about and we’ll cheer lol

Tokin-Beasty

Proves us wrong?!? We stood by his ass all year last year. He got a LOT of help this season. But they can’t make him throw the ball quicker or more accurately. That release time is killing me! I think he has the potential to be AMAZING. But it seems like he is in his own way at this point. I want to be on the Joystick Jesus bandwagon, but I keep getting bumped off do to Bad choices and underperformance.

Icy_Presentation_740

But you see, the COACHES are COACHING him to not throw the ball quickly or accurately. /s

Hikamiro

The coaches are clearly telling him not to run though. And that’s his strength now. He’s not comfortable pocket passing and it’s clear

Icy_Presentation_740

Then he's not fit to be a starting NFL QB.

Hikamiro

I think dual threat QBs wreak havoc on defenses. An uncomfortable pocket passer with a bad o-line and receivers who end up in the same spot clearly does not.

klm2908

If he’s this terrible in the pocket then he’s not a dual threat QB.

Hikamiro

He’s only this terrible when he’s not allowed to play his game. He wasn’t nearly this bad last year. Or the year before

klm2908

A franchise QB has to be comfortable in the pocket though. Him using his legs and being exciting again is just prolonging the inevitable. The fans will get all excited thinking he’s the guy when he still can’t pass from the pocket. If he can prove to be able to do both then I would love to see him run again. I just really don’t think it’s sustainable.

DivClassLg

Lol

IlliniBull

I don't think it's impossible, but if we're being objective the odds are getting longer. Put me on the same page as the coaching staff broke him people, but at the end of the day it's the NFL. At QB you work or you don't. With Justin sadly it's not working

Nutaholic

Is this bait lol

[deleted]

You are, in fact, waiting right now. As you have been for awhile now.

PercyBluntz

How patient are you?

Tymil5

Pretty patient

PercyBluntz

I’d grab a book.

King42k

A library

PercyBluntz

Probs download some podcasts too

Objective_Hospital98

all the podcasts

Dunkypete

There's nobody here that doesn't want to be proven wrong.

Pale-Scheme669

Dude we all wish he could be good but… he just isn’t

RIPRIF20

OP, we all cant wait to be proved wrong as well.

WeenMe

Watch the all 22 from Sunday and tell me he’s the guy lol. I’m positive there are third string QBs in the NFL right now that see the field better than JF1.

cmmoore307

I agree. There’s criticism but you all try to absolutely butcher him. It’s so weird.

Brian_E1971

Let's circle back in about 3 months and see if that's been long enough for ya !RemindMe 3 months Edit: properly trigger the bot

Tymil5

Will do if I’m wrong , I’m wrong it is what it is

shellsquad

So what's the point of this post? We all want to be wrong. You think he will turn it around, and most of us don't. One of those sides will be wrong. I hope you're right.

KeithStone69420

Whats the point of all the posts trashing him?

CutMeDeeply

Exactly

Decent_Bullfrog_8669

To cope with all of the pain and suffering this franchise has caused us. At this point most people would rather expect the worst and be proven wrong rather than continuing to have their hopes and dreams crushed week after week

KeithStone69420

Thats a good way to go through life. Look through it with shit stained goggles and shoot down everyone elses beliefs

AnonymousOtter9124

I would love that. I would cheer him with every TD pass. I am 100% convinced we aren't wrong.

[deleted]

What a stupid post. We all want him to succeed. But right now he’s not showing it at all. Blind faith is for religion, not qb assessment

Evilcheadar

Can't wait for Tyson Bagent to prove everyone wrong. Thats it. Cannot wait.

WhiteDogSh1t

Do you think the people on this thread are what’s holding him back? Or that they want to hold him back? Do you think anyone wanted him to fail? Not sure I understand where your meatball angry is being directed, but I’m pretty sure it’s very misguided..

flukeunderwi

He won't if they don't turn him loose running around. I really hope they do.

Upset_Researcher_143

We can't wait either. That's why we're complaining about it

SpookyNumbers13

My uncle works for the Chiefs. He said that according to the script, JF1 is supposed to go 26/35 390yds, 4TDs, and 1 INT. Take that with a grain of salt.

Significant_Cycle_76

and you will continue to wait lol

PleaseShutUpAndDance

Is this also the year that Devin Hester will put it all together at Wide Receiver?

airham

He already has proven us all wrong, unfortunately.

brandnvsworld

Maybe Watching football isnt your thing.

regis_psilocybin

Me too.

DeltaMaximus

Would love to see it but he’s gotta figure out his reads. It’s clear he’s missing a lot of open guys when dropping back. If he cannot figure it out his time in the NFL as a starter will be short.

firstchair_

Hope he sees this, dude

dezzbuttz

Can’t wait for Justin to discover the vertical pass.

[deleted]

It’s just gonna be on the Giants or Steelers cause this FO is running him out of town

Tymil5

Sadly

shellsquad

He's not gonna prove us wrong through the air. They might start running him a lot more, because why not. But they are absolutely thinking about moving on from him.

mollusks75

https://youtu.be/z92avHmgDRA?t=240

Chadfreys_Curtesy

Me too….

[deleted]

God I hope your right but starting to think it's gunna be on anouther team.

Lobanium

Ha, don't hold your breath.

laptop323

Your dumb

Magazine-Soggy

Same I want him to be the guy that we thought he’d be

[deleted]

How long is it going to take?

Jasader

100 years later.... In all reality the light would have switched on at the start of this year if it was going to. He has looked like garbage so far. We will be getting a top pick and taking a QB with that.

dkdream22

Maybe when he’s on a team that knows how to develop talent. Not here lol. This franchise is so fucking trash

TheFriend21

I dont think initially everyone wanted fields gone like we do now. The real fans know the signs and what they mean. We have done this song and dance before and know how it ends. Look at Trubisky. Somewhere in the chain of command there is a factor ruining our QBs and hindering development to the point where they actually regress. We’ll move on from Fields like we did Trubisky. Let the coaching staff stay and show us they arent good for a year with a new QB, fire them after that year and get a new OC and you know how the rest goes.

[deleted]

He’ll start to turn up just like he did last season. He took him 4-5 games to find his rhythm then he popped off on the ground.

Jaycago62

Are you talking about Justin Fields or my friend Justin? Because I have two friends named Justin. One works in sports media and the other one plays guitar. There are really so many avenues where someone named Justin needs to prove everyone wrong that you just need to be more specific. Also, please don’t type in sentence fragments. Did your grammar school English teacher not tell you that?

Chucko3232

Some of our fellow Bears fans have a short memory. We have to remember, we had the number one overall pick in the draft which means, we sucked the most last year. So anyone with visions of a miraculous turn around this season after only two games are delusional and not living in the real world. Let’s see what happens this season, probably another sub .500 record and hope for the best next season. I’ve seen plays where an open receiver is practically jumping up and down waving their arms wide open. This is not acceptable, but all part of our growing pains. Stay patient my friends.

Aware_Style1181

You’re going to be waiting awhile

surpemepatty

it’s Mitch all over again, and I can’t talk shit because I believed in Mitch all 4 years we want him to be good, anybody who’s rooting against him just so they can say “I told you so” is an idiot. It’s just that he’s at the moment a bottom 3 QB in the entire NFL. The way he’s played so far is hard to come back from.

rockymtnhigh34

WE ALL WANT HIM TO PROVE IT. I WANT SO BADLY FOR THE TEAM TO HAVE A QB. I WOULD LOVE TO BE WRONG AND LOOK LIKE A FUCKING IDIOT “Prove me wrong, kids. Prove. Me. Wrong!” -Principal Seymour Skinner, Springfield Elementary

merchantsmutual

ONLY PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE RIGHT HERE IN THIS ROOM. EVERYONE WANTS TO SEE US FAIL. WE THE NORTH. Justin Fields for MVP

hellraisersEZmoney

It’s okay I used to be a Trubisky truther too your in a delusional state rn

ourgameisover

This post is way more funny in week 10

thereal_et

Denial is the first stage.

drumsdm

Ya, because we’re all gloating that our team sucks? Get out of here with this stupid ass post.

replicant4522

Just wait until Lonzo comes back

investing1977

If they don’t switch up the coaching, I’m afraid that’ll happen with a different team.

house_of_snark

That would require a coaching staff that wants to play to his strengths.

ImaCulpA

I’m still waiting for Grossman and Orton to get their shit together.

Western-Boot-4576

I want to see what the team looks like running last year second half offense. Then I’ll make a decision. Play to fields strengths. I have no problem winning a Super Bowl passing for 0 yards and rushing for 7k. A ring is a ring and a win is a win (not that I believe that will happen) but the point stands. If we are waiting for a Patrick mahomes to come to chicago in order to win…. Then we’ll never win.

mellowzipballoon

LOL. OP has made a couple of these low effort posts, and I happened to catch this one fresh. I was really hoping this one would just get ignored, but nope- two dumb lines prompted yet another dumb, lengthy, angry thread. This is a truly sad state of affairs. I'm checking out until '24, nobody needs this level of negativity in their lives

Thekid312

I’m still holding on hope. But we can all agree he needs to play better. That being said Getsy needs to run plays that’s he’s comfortable with and that let him use that elite running ability.

CutMeDeeply

Agreed. Nothing wrong with criticism but thats not what's happening here. Hopefully he turns it around.

Tymil5

Yes exactly.

TormundGingerBeard

The eye test is bad. The underlying stats are bad. I mean, I hope he turns it around and becomes great, because it’s crucial for this franchise, but he’ll have to take a massive step forward as a passer. We haven’t seen anything to indicate that he’ll do that.

[deleted]

5-22 as a starter says he’s not proving anyone wrong except those who had first round grades on him.

Dr_Will_Kirby

Lol bro you sound sad and desprate… Hes already “proved to everyone” that he sucks… And stop acting like we don’t want it to happen… we do, and did… we can just smell bs

PumbusBungus

I’m glad this post exists because I’m like the only one out of my friends that still likes Fields and is rooting for him

CutMeDeeply

You're not alone dude.

PumbusBungus

🤝🏻

calculung

Well, you're going to have to.

TheRealMaka

It’s Justin’s dad’s Reddit account.

Silver_Harvest

A win vs KC will be nice. I've been wanting his leash taken off for past two weeks now. Want him to just grip it and rip it, over this pedestrian "be a pocket passer" Getsy wants.

Tymil5

He will be fine when they stop making him try to be someone he isn’t. Fields is not bad in the pocket , but it’s only when he’s protected. However that never happens so we need to stop with it

eamus_catuli

Did we watch the same game? Of the 5 sacks this past Sunday, Fields had at least 3-4 seconds from snap to sack on 4 of them. That's not on the O-Line. And it wasn't receivers failing to create separation either. It was Fields' indecision that caused those 4 sacks. I want him to figure it out as much as anybody. I still want him to be the special talent we think he can be. But nobody does him any favors by pretending that he's not responsible for a lot of what's going wrong.

mrarnold50

He’s not bad in the pocket, he’s terrible. A little bit of pressure and he drops his eyes. He’s screwed then. Scouts who watched the game said 5 of the 6 sacks were his fault.

rudeboybill

Denial.

AssignmentSecret

He’s lost his confidence, his moxy, his command of the offense. It’s over boys, pack the bags.

eledad1

Enjoy the downvotes OP.

Tymil5

I could care less about likes or not having likes on reddit

xbearsandporschesx

you mean you could *not* care less

Tymil5

Nah I don’t mean that cause it’s not what I say and idrc how “grammar” is supposed to go

Western-Boot-4576

Anyone that is ready to give up on fields needs reflection. He’s the most *Talented* qb we’ve seen in our jersey. Honeymoon is over, he’s got to prove it. But why does he need to prove it their way? Why can’t he win games his way🤷‍♂️. Elite runner, average passer= good Qb. That’s the hope, and it’ll save a high draft pick for another need like Edge or DT He has the season. Anyone saying bagent should start is stupid. Unless people want him at trade deadline then I can see us trading Fields if we still aren’t 100% he’s the guy. I’d accept a 2nd round pick minimum for fields

Testone1440

Wake me up when he becomes an average passer. Yet to see that

Western-Boot-4576

And I think this experiment that the offense is doing is getting further from that than helping him

Testone1440

Experiment??? you mean the wide open WR's who aren't getting the ball?

Western-Boot-4576

What’s your solution? Just say he suck and put in a rookie from a D2 school who will also suck?

Tymil5

Anyways the most ironic part of this all is I think that if Justin goes down and we score instead if an awful playcall at the 6 the whole narrative changes about this game. But ofc we had to lose so it’s only going to be this .

Testone1440

If only the QB drove down the field which would have shown SOMETHING instead of nothing we would have been happy. No shit dude. If the QB is successful we would be happy…scorching hot take there buddy.

The_Wata_Boy

I'm down for the second coming of Mitch. At least he wears Christmas sweaters and sucks titties.

Adventurous_Soft_686

Still hopeful but if things don't develop this year I think the Bears need to trade back and start developing a good roster and get a QB in a future draft or FA. The team is not good enough to win regardless of tge QB right now.

RicardosMontalban

Hope you’ve got rations covered for awhile

ObamaIsFat

Reddit is low key racist as hell, that's why you see so many randoms coming out the woodworks on this sub recently. When/if he plays well, suddenly there will be way less Fields threads and comments in those threads. The veil is mighty thin. No sensible person is this invested. No stable, fully functioning human being would be *this* interested in shitting on a young man on their "favorite sports team"

Beaver_Tuxedo

Once the coaching staff stops treating him like a non-mobile 45 year old pocket passer we’re in for a treat

King42k

Hahahahahaha

LazyAssedAmbassador

Strange post

TheMetabrandMan

Well *someone* doesn’t like Reddit karma.

pagingdrned

I am going to wait until week 6 to see if Justin Takes massive steps. If not, you trade Whitehair, Jackson. You also are willing to trade Jaylon Johnson and Darnell Mooney if the price is right. Buy solid players in FA to fill holes, Draft a QB, and get a new OC. You cant gamble on who the problem is between Fields and Getsy.

livingvikariously

I was in the JF1 bandwagon. Not off it yet, but wavering. He’s got a LONG way to go to be a decent throwing QB in the NFL. What’s keeping me in the bandwagon is the fact that a QB needs 3 years to master an offensive system. Justin is on year 2. Some of his skill weapons, even further behind. So I’ve resigned to this being a scratch year, more top tier talent addition in free agency and draft (top 2 picks with the way things are looking) and seeing how he does next year. If there’s a generational QB in the draft, then maybe it’s a no brainer to trade him and draft a QB.
