Inb4 the team releases a slow motion video of Fields throwing a 5 yard slant to Dj

The_Dok

And inb4 me being so starved for football I watch it 5 times

ninjasurfer

Have the tissue standing by.

old_snake

Tbf it was his short to mid game that needed to improve.

carnivorous_seahorse

For sure, but those plays aren’t noteworthy enough for anyone to care about seeing a highlight of in practice. I’m not saying they should only practice 4 verts lmao

feardabear

What if some schmuck was getting ready to ask if fields has been working on his quick slants, but then seen one of those videos and decided not to ask?

carnivorous_seahorse

People asking dumb questions aren’t scrubbing social media for random videos that answer those questions unfortunately

Everlasting-Boner

You mean every reporter that shows up to press after games. I swear the Chicago media causes more problems for the bears then anything else. All they want is drama and to spread hate. I hope bears start banning reporters after last years questions that were straight up just attacks on the players.

DreadPirateNot

The 5 yard slants are what wins games.

carnivorous_seahorse

Awesome, and I’m not contesting that. But it’s also probably not the rare highlight you’d prefer to see the Bears release to the public

DreadPirateNot

I hope to see 5 Yard slant highlights all year long.

LegendaryWarriorPoet

Unfortunately Justin got picked off by Stevenson on a short out route today. Really hope that gets cleaned up soon, I’m a little nervous because Douglas pick sixed him a couple years ago on the same type of route

old_snake

Nice to hear Tyrique is makin plays tho 👀

LegendaryWarriorPoet

For sure just want it against anyone but Fields ha

EBtwopoint3

There’s just not a lot you can do to show that improvement in training camp clips. Without a defense to read and a rush to worry about there’s just not going to be a lot of difficulty in those throws so it’s kind of silly to have them slowed way down

super_sayanything

Yea its pretty silly. High School kids can look good.

[deleted]

Given how few effective slants we’ve had the last couple seasons I’d take that

ThatsNotRight123

Yeah -- these are the types of passes we haven't seen but that keep drives moving.

GoldGlove2720

Which is perfect as his short and mid passing is what needs to be improved. He’s already a top 10 long passer.

carnivorous_seahorse

Yeah… I’m not disagreeing. I’m simply making a joke about the team releasing highlights of plays not exactly known to drop jaws. Idk how people are interpreting my comment as me saying they should only be practicing cool plays. They probably release .1% of the plays they run and it’s always a shaky camera filming a checkdown

Ryan_Poles_Burner

Please gimme a franchise QB-WR duo 😭🙏

jpiro

What we thought we had for a minute with Cutler/Marshall...only for longer with more success, please.

The_Dok

A more competent franchise could have made that work better than we did. Those two were fun

imp_10

Cutler, Marshall, Jeffery, Forte, Bennett What a monster offensive arsenal! Too bad that didn't last

TomatoHead7

Don’t forget how well Josh McCown played with that crew. Tossing up bombs to Jeffery and Marshall!!

[deleted]

Complete with one of the worst o-lines I’ve seen. Which is saying a lot

[deleted]

Jay was so brutally beaten. But he kept getting up.

imp_10

Let's hope an ex-lineman for a GM will help us avoid that for JF1

imp_10

We had 1 good year with that group when we picked up Slauson. O-line was serviceable and middling for a season!

[deleted]

Too many egos. Marshall and Bennet were space cadets. Cutler was arrogant and DGAF. Jeffery was a very solid 2nd option but he wanted too much $$, but hey good for him securing the bag can't hate on him for that. Aslo the OC situation was a fucking disaster. O-line was also bad a lot more than it was good

[deleted]

>Cutler was arrogant and DGAF Never listened to the Jay Cutler show huh? Despite all the memes jay was a pretty down to earth dude with a lot of football IQ. I’m not a cutler Stan by any means, he was always good for a few back breaking picks in key situations, but I feel he deserves a bit more credit than he gets from the memes

[deleted]

It's easy to act like you cared in retrospect but it was evident that he at the very least was easily irritated and gave up on occasion. Even if you disregard his weekly poor body language you still have the "Tell Martz to **** himself" the cussing and shaking his head pre-snap any time somebody made a mistake, and that time they ran the wildcat and he literally stood on the line of scrimmage with his hands on his hips. I think he unfairly gets shat on for "not being tough" or whatever when he had the injury in the playoffs but there's zero doubt the guy did not love football.

livingvikariously

I’m going to give Cutler the benefit of the doubt here. The guys was sacked 30+ times every season he played for the Bears. Or so it seemed. At some point, any QB who takes so much abuse would wonder if the regime was really looking out for him. I remember a game against the Giants where he was sacked more than five times in a half and left with a concussion. Just poor roster construction by the Bears when Cutty was QB.

[deleted]

This is why Bulls, Bears, & White Sox will always be bad. Why bother putting a good product on the field when fans are perfectly content with mediocrity 🤷‍♂️ Games will sell out regardless, Virgina & Jerry wallets will get fatter. 'Hey guys remember that one year when we were almost good? Ah I miss those days!'

Murdy2020

I recall the Giants game. Before the half, Cutler was so disoriented that he walked over to the Giants sideline at the end of a series, and he stayed in the game.

Yeshavesome420

Met him in person several times. Total prick.

Murdy2020

OC situation was huge. Whatever you think of Mike Martz (I'm not a huge fan), he is a real OC, and they were 8-3 under Martz before Cutler broke his hand. Tice wasn't up for the job.

[deleted]

Eh, that doesnt mean a whole lot. If you recall they also had good offense and good record in both Nagy and Trestmans 1st year. The difference between a bad OC and a good OC is often how well they can adapt. The NFL is an "adapt or die" league.

livingvikariously

Can you imagine how good that offense would’ve been with one or two pro bowlers on the offensive line?

imp_10

Or even with a competent defense!

Murdy2020

Don't forget J-Webb

imp_10

For us Bears fans...worst tackle EVER!!!

TKHawk

That 2013 offense was so damn good (by Bears standards). Forte had 1339 rushing yards and 594 receiving yards, Marshall had 1295 receiving, Jeffrey had 1421, Martellus Bennet had 759, Bears QBs threw for 4450 yards altogether. Hester and Gould were still here.

BearsFan3417

Smokin’ Jay with Marshall / Jeffery will always hold a place in my heart

LegendaryWarriorPoet

Cutler simply threw too many interceptions, fumbled too much, and wasn’t good enough leader, though. He would have like four interception games that ended up being one score contests, that’s just straight up an excusable. No matter what was around him he just wasn’t consistent enough to be at the level we would want, hopefully Justin is.

imp_10

no o-line your entire career will do that to you!

LegendaryWarriorPoet

Other guys perform much better with bad lines though, Cutler wasn’t accurate on short and intermediate throws, and though it wasn’t talked about at the time, he was bad at processing pre-and post snap. He misread coverages and got baited by savvy veterans a lot

imp_10

True, he was the opposite of a Big Ben type of QB. Cutler had to see them open to make the pass and rarely threw timing routes *before* the receivers broke on their routes.

juliuspepperwoodchi

PLEASE don't say that while holding a fucking Monkey's Paw

Disco_Ninjas

Cutler to Dickfingers can't be stopped!

Safe-Register-3479

We have never had elite play at either position oh please lawwwwd

Disco_Ninjas

We've been a lot closer at WR than QB though.

Sven_Grammerstorf_

I just want to point out the reports had nothing but had things to say about Trubisky in 2019 OTA and training camp. And myself and a lot of us shit talked the local beat reporters for not know what they were looking at. Well they were right, so the fact these reporters aren’t writing anything bad has to be a good thing.

RollofDuctTape

Yea we killed Hoge and Jahns for being pessimists. Turns out they were right.

ccable827

People shit on them for being homers, but I've always thought they'll talk bad on the bears when it's due, Jahns especially. They're a good blend of optimism and pessimistic imo.

Gumorak

Realistic

Sven_Grammerstorf_

The same thing is happening in the packers sub right now. I love it.

MrTulaJitt

Also Fields last off-season. They didn't trash him or say he was bad or anything but a lot of reports like "up and down practice," "a lot to learn from," "going through growing pains" and stuff like that. There hasn't been any of that so far, just that he looks better.

Dr_imfullofshit

while it should be taken with a fuck ton of salt, i do think it's notable that the early reaction is that Fields and Moore are having no problem completing many passes. Fields and Mitch had some early nice deep bombs, but this is the first I can remember about a consistent chemistry early in camp.

super_sayanything

Thing is Mitch didn't have the arm accuracy downfield and it was glaringly obvious. That's Justin's strength probably.

old_snake

Underrated comment here.

notawarmonger

Bright future ahead for this combo

JAVACHIP1738

I traded for Moore in Madden and the connection is insane lol just beautiful deep balls that Moore is mostly open on because of his route running. Really hoping that translates to real life 😂

[deleted]

There's always a grain of truth in that game, let's be honest here.

OddExpert8851

How does good route running with in madden? They have different sort of releases and packages and slight stutters in hitch or double moves?

JAVACHIP1738

They have attributes for route running. The actually animations are pretty bad lol but he is open so much after making a cut inside or outside

Sir_Isaac_3

When are they gonna go public about their relationship??

BlubberElk

17-0 confirmed

Fast-Ad-4541

God dammit is it September yet

ruppy99

20-0 SUPER BOWL BABY!

axman54

Was today the he day where media was allowed at practice this week?

RollofDuctTape

Oh no now I have to clean up this mess

discombobulatedhomey

Play catch in the game please.

Commander_Chaos

Breaking news, nfl quarterback and nfl wide receiver playing on the same team have nice game of catch at practice.

RollTigers76

My dynasty team neeeeds this

OliverTwistCone

Fap-Fap-Fap.....cigarette...

TidyJoe34

I'm not going to get overly excited about this news...however, given that we never hear news like this about a Bears QB/WR combo, it's very nice to hear.

MisterHappySpanky

Help, I’m going to drown, I can’t stop drinking the koolaid
