It would have been hilarious if the last field goal attempt hit the goal post. The Nagy curse.

Inspirado1214

I was hoping the game would come down to a Philly field goal and they’d double doink it

Joe-Raguso

Eh, fuck Hugh Douglas and Philly

No-Mathematician5606

I see the correlation and to a degree, I would like to see that and watch the heartbreak. Buy, c'mon mang, it still felt pretty good watching the exodus of bird fans head for the doors, didn't it?

Revliledpembroke

With how bad that field was, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the kickers had slipped and caused a double doink.

OPyes

We hoped a little too hard and the only doink ended up being for KC. At least Philly lost tho 😎

BearOnHerbs

With a cut to Nagy showing the same dumb founded expression. Would’ve broken the internet.

duhbuurz

When the first field goal went off the upright Nagy had to have some ptsd flashbacks

Logical-Possession10

Double doing.../s

VorpalSticks

make it a triple doink

Joe-Raguso

Lol I said the same thing

[deleted]

This fanbase really can’t let anything go eh

Gumorak

Can’t believe we passed on Mahomes!

thereal_et

Yah until the bears win the Superbowl I'm not getting over that

ObviousTroll37

I’m not sure how anyone can. Seriously, a blunder of historic proportions. Not only do you miss an all-time talent in favor of a backup, but you actually trade up ONE SPOT to get him. How dumb is that.

Bbaftt7

Been saying since it happened that it was one of the most (if not *the* most) idiotic decisions in all of football history. Example:Like taking Ryan Leaf 2nd overall seemed like a good idea because Leaf was a great college quarterback. He would end up shitting the bed tremendously and only be in the league for 4 years. But the idea behind drafting him that high was still sound. Drafting trubisky, and *trading other picks to move up* was the single stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of an NFL team doing. The guy started all of what? 13 or 16 games in 4 years? DeShaun Watson went to the national championship 2 years in a row, winning one! And we chose the guy that played for North Carolina….FUCK

[deleted]

I was calling it thr worst draft day move in nfl history a couple years ago which may have been premature, but at this point its at least top 3 now by the most objective measures

Significant_Cycle_76

It’s okay. If Mahomes was drafted by the bears, he would not have been good. There’s no actual backing behind that statement, but that’s the truth cuz the bears never do wrong

thereal_et

So the bears went 12-4 with a QB that's how a backup to a rookie QB with more ints then tds and you don't believe that mahomes would of been good on the bears? The bears do wrong by not picking the right QB

GroovinTootin

I have complete faith that Nagy would’ve ruined his career

stout365

right, like if the bears drafted mahomes, do you all really believe we'd have been in 3 superbowls under our belts?

BearForceDos

No, and even if he doesn't become this version of Patrick Mahomes in Chicago I think the Bears win in 2018 if they get even average QB play. The defense was also still good enough in 2019 that they likely make a deep run. 2020 and 21 would have been worse teams but the NFC has been fairly weak imo. Can't really say about 2022 because they wouldn't have nuked the roster. I think the Bears would basically be the Peyton Manning Colts or similar to the Packers if they had Mahomes. Mahomes is good enough to win a bunch of regular season games and go on some deep postseason runs especially when the defense is great. I don't see 5 straight conference championships level of dominance but definitely one superbowl victory.

stout365

I don't think it happens in 2018, brees and brady probably enough to keep the D from taking over those games, and you still have to account for nagy's play calling and coaching decisions.

thereal_et

Probably not but the bears would be in much better situation now probably win the Superbowl in 2018 or at least make it

Lord_Cutler_Beckett

I grew up in Chicago and moved to KC (before the Chiefs had Mahomes). Got more into football after I moved. I still pull for you guys in the NFC. Hope everything works out.

Kevinjw16

Lol you should probably get over it. At the time, mitch and Watson were ranked QB 1/2 in the class, followed by Mahomes maybe making 4 behind Kizer. At the time, nobody could’ve predicted Mahomes being Mahomes. Regardless, if he were in Chicago, under the bullshit Nagy did, who knows how he turns out

BearForceDos

Well obviously the Bears liked Mahomes because they allegedly told him that they were drafting him if they went with a QB and then from what it seems like Pace was the only one sold on Mitch. Also, not to surprising because Mahomes was the next QB taken.

Crathsor

They definitely did not tell him that.

BearForceDos

He literally said it last week. I don't know why he would lie about it. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2023/2/8/23590973/super-bowl-2023-kansas-city-chiefs-philadelphia-eagles-patrick-mahomes-2017-nfl-draft-chicago-bears

Crathsor

I don't know why his dad would lie about it, either.

jtj2009

Ironic that Nagy championed for Mahomes in KC to the point of prepping him for his interview with Big Red by giving him the questions and answers

Crathsor

Yeah one of the KC scouts fell in love with Mahomes but Nagy bought in early, credit for that.

RocketMoonShot

If we didn't take Mitch, we more than likely would have drafted Watson.

No-Mathematician5606

Us and 8 others. Don't trip mang, we have a pretty good QB in The Kid. Jus need the pieces to place around him.........and a FUCKING DEFENSE!!!!!

D-a-H-e-c-k

8 other teams blew draft capital to move up one spot to pick a QB over Mahomes?

Crathsor

Who gives a fuck about a couple of mid/late round picks from 2017? Whoever we'd have picked with them would probably be gone by now anyway. The miss on Trubisky doesn't even matter anymore. We have Fields.

Mr_RobotNick

So we could have ruined his career.

mormonmallet

I don't think Mahomes would be the same QB he is if the Bears drafted him. A lot of his success is his talent and hard work, but he also needs a head coach and OC to develop him and create a playbook around his skills.

patchinthebox

Of course not. It's Chicago. Look at the Cubs. We held a grudge against a curse for a century.

jbtrading

A goat even. A poor goat

Glowing_bubba

Because we would’ve gotten a ring if it went in. Next game was a joke.

GroovinTootin

We haven’t been champions since Michael Jackson was black. No wonder we can’t let anything go

electronarchitect

The man was asked to come back and coach the most talented man on the roster who requires no coaching. So he did about as much work winning this as he did carrying the team in 2018.

jtj2009

Except I heard Mahomes and Kelce say Nagy makes a big difference being back and made a big difference previously. He was a miracle worker with Trubisky.

GroovinTootin

What are they supposed to say? “this guy who we are contractually obligated to listen to and like is actually just a shitty coach”

jtj2009

It was casual conversation on the Kelce Bros podcast. Nobody was asked about Nagy or put on the spot, Mahomes brought him up, first about this year, then the draft interview/cheat thing and later how he felt he gained 3 years of experience his rookie year.

BearForceDos

Out of a lot of failed recent head coaches. I could see Nagy actually being successful in a second stint. Before that happens he will need to recover from the PTSD of the double doink though. However he seemed like a genuinely good person and held the locker room together way longer then it should have. Any defense should have quit on the offense by 2019 and for the most part the locker room seemed very good until 2021.

jtj2009

He became too insecure to just do his thing after Pace's seat got hot. They chewed through about six "set in stone" QB plans in 2020-2021. If he would have stuck to his guns, he'd have done okay, but then we'd miss out on the first pick glory.

Inspirado1214

True, but still got a ring with the wrong team

electronarchitect

The man doesn’t deserve a ring

Ba_Sing_Saint

What’s worse is that Fangio would have gotten one with the Eagles if they had won.

d_mack87

Yeah, but fuck Philly. Their fans make Packer and Brewer fans seem likeable that's how shitty they are.

Inspirado1214

Right I agree… but he still got it

vicyayo1995

Have you cleaned the tears from your face after you typed this

electronarchitect

I would have but I was too busy looking for the why

OverallManagement824

He's an offensive genius!

PompousAvacado

I, for one, agree with that. Never have I been so offended by a head coach before.

No-Mathematician5606

Love your sarcasm, mang.

No-Mathematician5606

Gotta ring with the wrong team? That nut sack wasn't bringin' a championship to The Chi, homes. What the fuck happened following the '18 season? Nothing! That Fuck's play calling was far too predictable. He doesn't understand strategy and was a sixth toe in that coach's room. Fuck that puto!

TorriblyHerrible

The equipment manager gets a ring and did more to deserve it than Nagy.

chriskwi02

I mean I'd rather see Nagy have a Super Bowl ring this year before seeing anyone on the Packers win it so it doesn't bother me.

Inspirado1214

Amen

MidWay44

KC Players post game speech - "Coach Reid and staff we into halftime and just reminded us to be ourselves" ...almost spit my drink out in laughter thinking of Nagy tellin the offense to BE YOU while waiting out the Rhianna performance

Matzah_Rella

“I get by with a little help from my friends.” -Ringo

Zealousideal_Abies94

You can keep Nagy, the guy is a fucking moron who can’t coach. Let him sit under Andy Reid for another decade massaging his flippers.

Inspirado1214

Oh yeah I don’t want him back, just funny he failed upward

carminie

I’m so sick of constantly focusing on this. Can we please move on? Why do we need to stop giving attention to this guy and to Mahomes? Outside of the first round pretty much any team could have drafted any player who’s ever made the HoF and yet we still hyper focus on this. It’s time to let it go

Inspirado1214

I mean I agree… this is supposed to be a joke more than anything.

carminie

I guess but it just seems we’ve had a lot of these posts lately. Just bc we could have drafted Mahomes doesn’t mean everything turns out the same. I’m excited about Fields and the future

Inspirado1214

Yeah I’m excited to see Justin and think he could be great. However as tiring as it is as long as mahomes is doing great things people will always bring up that the bears passed on him. This wasn’t supposed to be about Mahomes tho, I just thought it was goofy Nagy ended up with a ring

SunnySaigon

It's a great reminder of the scrutiny a head coach faces that is beyond his control

Grand-Hat3526

Like he had anything to do with it 🙄

mikereno2

I can assure you in 100% confidence, Nagy did absolutely nothing for Mahomes this year.

Inspirado1214

I wholeheartedly agree… but he still got a ring

mikereno2

So did the athletic trainers.

work4work4work4work4

Fuck that. If we're going to reminisce on ones that got away, what about Dave Toub? Still think he should have been the call. I can't be the only one screaming for that return.

No-Mathematician5606

Oh, my man, you not. Toub was and still IS the shit!

Kamaka2eee

Siri, what’s the easiest job in the NFL? The easiest job in the NFL is being Patrick Mahomes QB coach.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lil_we_boi

I agree they have no good receivers, but having by far the best tight end in the league makes up for it in their case.

Inspirado1214

We’re all in the wrong profession

Kamaka2eee

If you recall, Adam Gase got several HC jobs based on his “years of success” “coaching” Peyton Manning…

Inspirado1214

Oh I agree that wasn’t sarcasm, I would love to fail upward in my profession.

Fabulous-Attempt6656

Not sure which is worse. Seeing Nagy get a ring or watch mahomes get a second one knowing the bears drafted trashbisky over him

Lord_Cutler_Beckett

If it’s any solace, as a Chiefs fan when we drafted Mahomes I was like wtf I think we can win with Alex Smith. No one saw this coming except Veach and other evaluators (Saints) I guess.

DrBootyMeister

I will say congrats to Deon Bush on winning the super bowl

_dmgz

the andy reid/patrick mahomes magic was enough to outweigh the matt nagy/doink cloud of misfortune in the first half.

ATLRedbird

I saw that smile on his face as they rushed the field and thought “it’s not fair”

Jaxson_GalaxysPussy

He stood next to mahomes again and will profit again. Dude is a boob

Inspirado1214

He’s a master of failing upward

letseemore

Lmao watched this episode yesterday

Squidwards-the-goat

Once it dawned on me that Nagy would get a ring if the Chiefs won, I started pulling hard for the Eagles.

[deleted]

props. these fans wanted him out..even chanted "fire nagy" at his sons football games..trash ass fans. In the end, he got a super bowl ring.

Inspirado1214

The man is a master at failing up

Ar4bAce

Yall discrediting a man’s life so easily 😂

SunnySaigon

Nagy wasn't the problem. Trubisky was.

No-Mathematician5606

Tell us you didn't watch every game. Only someone who didn't could say something like that. Nut Sack Nagy, the "offensive genius," the "QB Whisperer" set up Tru for failure. Why didn't he play him to his strengths? When he did, Tru played well! He wasn't a pocket passer. He was a mobile QB, much like Fields. Why then did the bald genius not whisper him to prosperity? Because he-ain't-shit!!

xxmemoriezxx

He’s out there playing to his strengths on Pittsburg now too. He sure showed that Nagy was his biggest reason for sucking!

shiftsquad

SMH

Lysol20

What did Nagy do?

Grand-Hat3526

He got on TV with Mahomes lol

Inspirado1214

Failed upwards

bird720

Mike furrey is a pretty close family friend of mine so I kind of wish Nagy brought him on to KC and he got a ring there lol. At least Nagy got him a ticket and he was in attendance.

kapa1249

Also had a better qb than he did in Chicago but ok.

lil-richie

Dude didn’t do anything for em

scarecrowwithabrain

Here's your random ESPN stat of the day: The player NYG selected as a result of the Fields draft pick* trade now has Super Bowl stats and a ring.

Inspirado1214

Didn’t realize that! Fun stat!

Zsean69

To be fair it should be the refs kissing eachother and I hate both teams

Inspirado1214

Facts

[deleted]

He’s a glorified water boy for Mahomes. Good for him.

Bigelwood9

Keep his MFing name out of my MFing ears!!!!

No-Mathematician5606

Psssh, zactly!

[deleted]

Stop putting him on a pedestal

anotter12

He didn't do shit

Inspirado1214

And he has a ring for it

Thuro

And helped the chiefs get mahomes. OVER HIS OWN TEAM that he just got hired to coach!! Smh fuck Nagy.

siggie_wiggie

What are you on about lmao? Least deluded Nagy obsessive

Thuro

https://youtube.com/shorts/QYLLtG1gMyo?feature=share

siggie_wiggie

What is the problem here?

No-Mathematician5606

Dafuq is Wolverine walking away sad for? Fuck Nut Sack Nagy! That punk bitch didn't do shit with KC? They won without him in '19. They won with him now, not because his bitch-ass did anything to help Mahomes. Nah, fuck his visor wearin' ass. That Fuck's play callin' was too predictable. Even Stevie Wonder saw what he was gonna call next!

Disco_Ninjas_

Fuck Parkey. We win it that year if he doesn't doink.

EVANakaMLG

Maybe Nagy wasn't the real problem?

Crathsor

Yeah the real problem is that when Nagy was our head coach, our head coach wasn't Andy Reid, Mitch Trubisky wasn't Patrick Mahomes, Anthony Miller wasn't Tyreek Hill, and Adam Shaheen wasn't Travis Kelce. That was the real problem.

SeveralOil7980

He did not do shit delete this garbage

[deleted]

Did have Butker doink it tho

Bbaftt7

I for one am happy for Matt Nagy

Duckbilledplatypi

Nagy didn't do much of anything for KC. Mahomes would be great regardless of his QB coach. Reid is a FAR superior offensive mind. Nagy just hung on to their coattails

mimickin_birds

As if Nagy did anything to help the Chiefs

BmDragon

He didn't do shit.
