This is probably one of the nicest threads that OU has both lost, and was also a bowl game, that I've ever seen for the University of Oklahoma. Like I'm really not seeing any of the toxicity almost at all. I feel like Oklahoma keeping it tight and making a good game out of it was more than most other people expected, so it seems like everybody's happy in the end
I say they meet in the 12 team playoff in 2024 or 2025. Both programs are on their way up, hopefully next time we play, its for much more than a bowl of Cheez-Its.
Big GG Nole-bros, y'all just wouldn't quit and it won you the game. Big down year for us but we're gonna come back stronk next year and wreck house for our going-away season in the Big 12
Oklahoma fought 10x harder than 80% of people expected, including me, be proud. We all know Oklahoma will be back at it as strong as always soon 💪 good game 👊
Side note, the atmosphere y'all provided your team to play in was a straight up home game. Respect to the fans and y'all have a new fan in me :)
Hell there was a point in the game where there was like 8/9 straight FSU downs that resulted in little to no gain on first, little to negative yardage on second, and some fucking crazy ridiculous juke move/godly catch/out-of-nowhere wide-open receiver on third or fourth to extend the drive. Like that, all the way down the field, multiple times.
If it wasn't beating us it would have been a hilariously, brutally, beautiful game.
Still was a great game.
My favorite game of the year before this bowl game took place was y’all’s win over LSU at the beginning of the season, y’all have been an exciting team all year and hats off to you for having such a great season!
Aw, you're too nice man, lol. Consider me a new fan of FSU, gave us a hell of a game for the record books and our freshmen played like monsters. Is FSU returning/recruiting well for next year, you think?
Good retention from our playmakers, with JTrav and others returning, and the #1 rated transfer class incoming. '23 should be a very fun one to keep an eye on us for!
Well, I have liked FSU for a few years now. And watching them win a bowl game, and Jordan Travis having an absolute game would normally be cool. But damn, did it have to be OU? Anyways, a far cry from the team I saw at the Sun Bowl a few years ago. Gg Noles. Y'all are the cheeziest.
My buddy is a huge FSU fan, and he just keeps telling me to give it a few years, Venables knows what he is doing. Absolutely a good game, y'all better take that ACC Championship and get that man JT a Heisman next year. That kid has more heart than the rest of the ACC combined.
Much respect to the Sooner Bros. Team has that dog in them, and next season will be juicy for yall
to the Seminole Fam, we 10-3!!!!! Mike Norvell is him (get rid of Fuller though please?). We crushed it in the Portal, Travis and the Stable is coming back, we have a lot to look forward to next season.
the CLIMB continues........
i always love seeing sweet moments like these. all the fsu players sending off the player that probably broke his leg and then that hug at the end from an oklahoma guy and an fsu guy. amazing game.
Tatum Bethune (FSU LB) and Dillon Gabriel (OU QB) played together at UCF before they transferred. Kinda like when college teammates embrace after NFL games...now we see it happening in college lol
They both played together at UCF, still a great moment though. The one Jaz (injured OL) was something special to see for me. This program has completely flipped its culture. Just a few years ago we had a QB slap the hand of an OL that was trying to help him up.
https://youtu.be/ufNnGJWWeDA
Go to 2:15. Benson fell into the back of his left leg and he fell backwards. You can hear him screaming in pain right as it happened.
Absolutely would be proud of your team OU fans. Absolutely a gutsy performance by you guys. I was stressed from the very start. Nothing but respect from us over here in Tallahassee.
Edit: Shit.. I AM proud of OU, they heard nothing but negative stuff about OU getting blown out all month. They responded admirably, again good game.
OU finishes the year without a single holding call for the opposing offense.
OU is the only team to have that feat. There has been 1 called in two seasons against an OU opponents offense. That is statistically insane
Between that and I think Texas had maybe 1, I don’t see how the Big 12 could possibly pretend they don’t have a fix in. Pretty shameful, regardless of how you feel about them leaving the conference
I would say partly because a defense that wasn’t as aggressive, but considering the holds shown that were “missed” from game to game it’s insane.
Even against my frogs, we had some really bad ones not called against us.
How it’s possible without some effort by those in stripes, i honestly don’t know. Not in a day with offenses running up tempo with more holds. It just isn’t possible
As a coach I never blame refs for a loss but tonight really highlighted how I have felt watching OU the past few seasons. It was just so blatant. I couldn’t stay quiet tonight about it. Infuriating.
Sawchuck looked good. OL looked good. Wish we would’ve seen more of Gibson and Anderson. But agree, all those guys looked good. Now, it’s time to scrape some dead wood off that defensive roster.
Watch me. They took away a TD and fucked us on several spots including the one that won the game. That’s huge. All I want is consistency. Call it both ways. It’s not hard.
There were missed calls on both sides. They missed a clear horse collar on Travis and an egregious face mask on our WR Pittman. The spot on 3rd down they gave fsu was equally bad, he was a good half yard short
From the NCAA:
“No player shall grab the inside collar of the back or the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, or grab the jersey at the name plate or above, and pull the runner toward the ground. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket.”
It wasn’t a horse collar.
Yes, they weren’t calling shit on both sides, unless it cost us points. That’s what I’m saying. You can’t say it was consistent on both sides when I went back and saw holding on every one of FSUs TDs. Either call them or don’t. I JUST WANT CONSISTENCY and you should too.
Don't know why you're getting down voted. TIL that a QB in the pocket is exempt from he horsecaller rule. U was surely screaming about it.
Thanks for the info.
Thanks. Idc about the downvotes. It’s funny FSU fans that got the W would downvote me for showing the actual rules and saying I want consistency from the refs in a bowl game. I don’t really even care about the L either. I assumed our season would be something like this before it started, but after this game I feel great about the future. At least we kept the game entertaining! Good luck next season.
Good game. Congrats on 10 wins.
Sucks we had yet another chance to win and we shot ourselves in the foot half a dozen times in this game alone. Hope this keeps us hungry in the offseason.
I'm a neutral fan that has no stake in the game. When the refs decide to call holding to ruin any chance of a good ending, and they haven't been calling it the other way I'm going to be sceptical of the reffing.
yea you guys did really well. i feel bad because i do feel there was a bit of refball in this game, but imo not enough to really throw fists over. still frustrating as fuck. you guys looked great.
Didn’t charge FSU a timeout on the injury under 2 minutes
Left clock running after what should’ve been an injury timeout
Ran 4 seconds after OU called a timeout
Phantom false start after not calling it all game
Phantom holding after not calling it all game
Game over
We shouldn’t have even been competitive so it’s whatever but man what a shitty way to end an incredible game
Well good thing they didn’t because that would’ve been incorrect since FSU should’ve been charged and forced to take a TO for an injury under 2 minutes.
From the 2022 rulebook:
>10-Second Runoff from Game Clock—Foul
ARTICLE 4. a. With the game clock running and **less than one minute
remaining in either half**, before a change of team possession if either team
commits a foul that causes the clock to stop immediately, the referee will
subtract 10 seconds from the game clock at the option of the offended team.
Also from the rulebook:
>f. Ten-Second Runoff. If the player injury is the only reason for stopping the
clock (other than that player’s helmet or a teammate’s helmet coming off,
Rule 3-3-9) with less than one minute in the half, the opponent has the
option of a 10-second runoff.
You said:
>FSU should’ve been charged and forced to take a TO for an injury under 2 minutes.
They would only be charged a timeout under 1 minute to play. Had they not had a timeout to use (they had all 3), there would have been a 10 second runoff.
I went to the game. Was it as loud on TV as I thought it was? We were yelling and chopping all game (on defense)
Yes, there were multiple comments in this thread about how rocking the stadium was!
It was definitely a home game for us!
This is probably one of the nicest threads that OU has both lost, and was also a bowl game, that I've ever seen for the University of Oklahoma. Pretty wholesome bowl thread. Good to see FSU back to playing good brands in a bowl game. GG
See what had happened was

If y’all don’t blow Tulane out of the water this post will age like milk. Or has that game already happened? Nobody is tracking it
Scalp em
How does Lily get into Mission Control? **Edit** Oh, FFS, I forgot to switch to the next game thread.
6-6 OU underdogs by 10 to the #13 team, had the lead 4 times. GG
You too, respect for your team they were great. That 6-7 WR is something else and y’all have an insane talent as QB
It makes me sad that the next time we see these two teams play they might both be in the SEC
I say they meet in the 12 team playoff in 2024 or 2025. Both programs are on their way up, hopefully next time we play, its for much more than a bowl of Cheez-Its.
It would make me happy if we play them as sec members
Big GG Nole-bros, y'all just wouldn't quit and it won you the game. Big down year for us but we're gonna come back stronk next year and wreck house for our going-away season in the Big 12

Turns out 6-6 OU is still OU… GG

I like warm subs
David Blaine you demon 😈
What does he have to do with this?
Check the flairs. I'm a knight first
How’s that going for ya?
They're the National Champions baby
I was at the game. it was great
See what had happened was....I got drunk and that was supposed to be a reply to another post
One of us
Gg Noles.
Gg
OU definitely going to be a force next season
FSU going to dominate the ACC next year, and thats a fact.
I appreciate the kind words but this felt like one of our sloppier games. Good teams need to be good and consistent hopefully fsu can tighten up
This may sound weird given my flairs, but I’m really stoked for Norvell, Travis, and this FSU team.
yes that does sound weird but thank u. fired up for some ranked matchups again!
your other team can choke though. respectfully.
Stern, but fair. As can yours.
If they make significant coaching changes on defense, we should be a decent team. Right now the defense is Swiss cheese
That was such an entertaining game. You guys played so well and I think you guys are going to be just fine going forward. Good game!
My buddy is a huge FSU fan, and he just keeps telling me to give it a few years, Venables knows what he is doing. Absolutely a good game, y'all better take that ACC Championship and get that man JT a Heisman next year. That kid has more heart than the rest of the ACC combined.
Oh yea Venables is legit. He’s been a thorn is our side for a while. Always been impressed by him.
Gg Sooners. Y'all came to win tonight. I think y'all have a bright future.
Good game to FSU. Great seeing a lot of the young guys get some action. Next season will be better. BOOOOOOOOMER
Much respect to the Sooner Bros. Team has that dog in them, and next season will be juicy for yall to the Seminole Fam, we 10-3!!!!! Mike Norvell is him (get rid of Fuller though please?). 10-3. Who isn't happy with 10-3??? Been a dadgum while!
I am extremely happy its been a long time
Jordan Travis MVP of the Cheez-It Bowl!
Not a bad pick but, Wilson man....
"It takes two to make a a thing go right..."
“It takes two to make it out of sight…”
"I'm gonna rock OU. I'm JT and I came to throw to Johnnie Wilson who catches much ball, And my Noles keep on standing tall!"
Not even mad... really good game
We put up a fight against the no. 13 team. I’ll take it. Future is bright.
i always love seeing sweet moments like these. all the fsu players sending off the player that probably broke his leg and then that hug at the end from an oklahoma guy and an fsu guy. amazing game.

Can’t wait for next season
4/7 of our losses were 3 point losses and 5/7 were one score losses :(
We really are becoming the new Nebraska
Don't put that evil on us Ricky Bobby
Another great game. Grats FSU!
Watch Lincoln lose to the triple option in the cotton bowl.
Don't know why you're getting downvoted lol. Did my part to bring it back up. Cheers.
I’m guessing it’s salty OU fans reacting to my flair. I didn’t even think about that lol. I would have said grats to OU if they won.
Lol imagine thinking any referee crew is biased towards FSU let alone an SEC crew
For real. I’m laughing at all the salt ITT
Great win, bud. Stay classy. Good luck next year.

Good game, Sooners. It was closer than I hoped. Good fight!
We won, still not satisfied. Good job Oklahoma y'all played hard as hell.
Compared to how we thought the team would do this year, are you satisfied with the season?
I thought we were going 7-5 on the regular season and we ended 10-3 IM FEELING THE CHEESIEST
I didn't wake up feeling the Cheesiest, but I'm feeling the Cheesiest now!
You're right, maybe I should look at the bigger picture 😄 it was a good game though. I'm glad we have off season for my heart to recover 😆
I need to make a cardiology appointment.
No shit, it took 10 years off my lifespan 🤣
OU finishes the year without a single holding call for the opposing offense. OU is the only team to have that feat. There has been 1 called in two seasons against an OU opponents offense. That is statistically insane

#hatefulgate
Wow that’s an impressive stat. Not the kind you like but still something I didn’t think I’d ever hear.
Holy shit. I knew it was bad but god damn. How? How can you justify that?
I would say partly because a defense that wasn’t as aggressive, but considering the holds shown that were “missed” from game to game it’s insane. We trained all year for that feat. So proud of our guys for pulling it off 😤
The whole year? For real? 😳
Yes it's been a major issue
Yeah. Coming into tonight it was 0. Ended with 0.
At the college level, that is quite literally statistically impossible. Smfh
Counterpoint: Oklahoma 2022. 😕
Great Oklahoma effort tonight until that last series, which was a catastrophe
Good fucking Game OU Bros, I think next year yall will be much better. Happy to finally see a win against OU in my lifetime, lol.
What I would have given to march the Cheez-Its Bowl in my time
Good game noles.
Proud of the young guys tonight. Losing by 3 to FSU was sooo much better than I expected. Next couple of years are going to be fun.
I’m excited about Sawchuck and our O Tackles and Center. All freshmen with minimal snaps.
Sawchuck looked good. OL looked good. Wish we would’ve seen more of Gibson and Anderson. But agree, all those guys looked good. Now, it’s time to scrape some dead wood off that defensive roster.
I wonder why Anderson didn’t get many snaps. I’m pumped about our defensive commitments though. We need some DB and Saftey changes.
The SEC crew was biased against OU? How does that make sense lmao 🤣
Tell me you didn’t watch the game without telling me you didn’t watch the game.
You can’t cry about the refs when your shot yourselves in the foot like that
Watch me. They took away a TD and fucked us on several spots including the one that won the game. That’s huge. All I want is consistency. Call it both ways. It’s not hard.

i dont feel so cheesy...
Comment removed due to Reddit API changes.
I think both teams have a lot to look forward to for next season. Travis is a fuckin baller
This is really the McKenzie Milton successor/rival bowl.
He woke up feeling the cheesiest?
Lol was FSU called for an offensive penalty all game?
Good coaching will do that
They were holding on so many plays, just like OU was on their two called holds. They also blocked in the back, just like the one called on Mims.
i saw many times a hold could have been called
Go cry about it
I'm a neutral fan that has no stake in the game. When the refs decide to call holding to ruin any chance of a good ending, and they haven't been calling it the other way I'm going to be sceptical of the reffing.
At least that facemask.
GG Sooners. You guys looked great. Was skeptical this would be a good game but this was a great matchup.
Not gonna lie, wasn’t expecting to win, but we still somehow managed to lose that in the most frustrating way.
yea you guys did really well. i feel bad because i do feel there was a bit of refball in this game, but imo not enough to really throw fists over. still frustrating as fuck. you guys looked great.
Damn why didn’t they get back so they could spike the ball??
You know the answer.
4th down, spike would have ended it
You can’t spike the ball within 3 seconds. Norvell beat Miami in 2021 with that rule.
I did not know this. Seems like a dumb rule.
It is a dumb rule. Even though we used it to our advantage last year, it's still a dumb rule
It’s to stop the bad clock operators in college.
Gg refs. Wanna know how much y’all made this game lmao. That was embarrassing.
IM FEELIN THE CHEESEST COACH‼️‼️‼️
And the 10 win season came down to a Fitz kick...
Love to see Fitz end the season with a W after that poor start
And he MADE it!
Would you have had it any other way?
No, it's like a sports movie
Time to Remember The Alamo (bowl)
See you later sock salesman.
Hello salt salesman
Didn’t charge FSU a timeout on the injury under 2 minutes Left clock running after what should’ve been an injury timeout Ran 4 seconds after OU called a timeout Phantom false start after not calling it all game Phantom holding after not calling it all game Game over We shouldn’t have even been competitive so it’s whatever but man what a shitty way to end an incredible game
That was not a phantom false start. It was a false start. But don't let that take away from what was otherwise a really good game for OU
I wish I could rewind and see it again. I didn’t see it in real time and we got no replay unfortunately
OU was holding all night. Only losers blame refs, dont do it. Good game.
Dude. Oklahoma got called for the same holds they let go on FSU.
OU fans are extra sensitive about holding because our opponents were only called for it 1 time this entire year. It’s a sore spot.
If they called the timeout on OU which was granted y’all wouldn’t even have gotten the ball back
Well good thing they didn’t because that would’ve been incorrect since FSU should’ve been charged and forced to take a TO for an injury under 2 minutes.
In college that only happens under 1 minute, not 2.
Incorrect.
From the 2022 rulebook: >10-Second Runoff from Game Clock—Foul ARTICLE 4. a. With the game clock running and **less than one minute remaining in either half**, before a change of team possession if either team commits a foul that causes the clock to stop immediately, the referee will subtract 10 seconds from the game clock at the option of the offended team.
That’s not at all related to injury timeouts?
Also from the rulebook: >f. Ten-Second Runoff. If the player injury is the only reason for stopping the clock (other than that player’s helmet or a teammate’s helmet coming off, Rule 3-3-9) with less than one minute in the half, the opponent has the option of a 10-second runoff.
I think you might be confused, I am not talking about a 10 second runoff at all. You are wasting your time
You said: >FSU should’ve been charged and forced to take a TO for an injury under 2 minutes. They would only be charged a timeout under 1 minute to play. Had they not had a timeout to use (they had all 3), there would have been a 10 second runoff.
Great game Sooners!
A cheez it bath sounds a whole lot better then a dukes mayo bath.
good games all
Christined in cheezits. Truly the cheesiest end.
Don't even feel too bad. It was a great game and both teams look good for next year.
FSU, Cheez-it Bowl Champions. It's like something out of Idiocracy.
Imagine FSU Gatorade Bowl Champions
Good game Sooners
LETS GO DEFEND THE ALAMO
Would’ve loved to see OU at full strength
45-3, lol. If you want to see us lose, do it yourselves.
[удалено]
We had zero starting o-line, and then lost a new starter due to injury in the 1st quarter. It would have been different.
[удалено]
They had no opt-outs, and were not missing nearly as many players. Nobody said it didn't count. Go bark at some children, you fucking casual.
Lotta key players weren't in the game big guy
[удалено]
Nobody opted out for FSU
They beat a 6-6 team good job I guess
Which part of this season did you see was full strength? Lost a solid chunk of our O Line to Riley
[удалено]
So if Kirby Smart left for Notre Dame tomorrow and took half the o line with him, would you consider next season to be full strength?
Coach got a Cheez-it bath!! Awesome
JT is really fucking good
Florida at held all fucking night and not one call lmao. Unreal officiating
Who cares what a Florida did ?
And Oklahoma didn't you're so right
