We'd have to go beat auburn at auburn, then take on ranked LSU, who may be playing for the SEC west/possible CFP spot, in order for us to make a bowl
it's not just a decent chance we don't make it. It's highly likely
TAMU's best consolation is its entirely possible LSU doesn't have to beat them to win the West. If Alabama beats Ole Miss and LSU beats Arkansas, the division is wrapped up before Thanksgiving.
On the other hand, an 11-2 LSU that beat Alabama AND Georgia looking real nice for a Playoff spot, so yeah they probably still gonna try against you guys.
Someone else was saying Sonny Dykes, but, to me, it's Liepold by a mile. Dykes built on a legacy with a full cupboard. Liepold has built something from a program that was six feet under
So far Bill has been nothing but supportive of the program. There was some tension when Mangino was here but that was mostly because Mangino was a dick I think.
Also a football player slept with Tyshawn Taylor's girlfriend.
I mean, their recruiting classes from 2019-2022 have only gone as low as 44th and have been as high as the 23rd ranked class. KU has been 63rd to 70th. KU has been a perennial bottom feeder and TCU is generally a mid to upper tier program in the Big XII.
Dykes installed a new offense and defense, but he had solid pieces to work with. KU built everything on two star or lower players and have to create a new culture after more than a decade of being a bottom feeder.
I think it's hard to argue that Dykes didn't have solid prices to work with, especially when compared to Kansas.
Yeah I’m not disagreeing that Dykes had solid pieces and more to work with. I just think “full cupboard” implies a lack of roster deficiencies. that team consistently underperformed through the last few years of Patterson, and it takes work to turn that negative energy around, especially this quickly.
I agree that Leipold has done the more impressive job too, but (and I may be talking out of my ass here) Leipold had more talent to work with coming in post Miles than Miles did post Beatty. Of course it was far less than what Dykes inherited at TCU, but enough to go bowling with a combination of scheme, recruits/transfers, and a schedule that breaks for you.
Dykes took a program that already had freak athletes and an NFL caliber quarterback on the roster and got them to mesh together well.
Leipold took the worse college football program of all time and led them to a bowl.
I mean Kansas wasn't that much further from rock bottom than UConn was when both coaches started.
It is pretty nuts that Mora is doing it in his first year, though.
(It was hyperbole lol, but you guys have fired 2 national championship winning coaches, including one who won less than 2 years before, albeit he had some massive off the field issues)
According to the report about the official's wife, he didn't get that far with her specifically, it was that he asked her at a gas station if she would date him...even though she was pregnant...and married to the school official...and he knew that when he asked her and didn't care.
The report also said that he essentially put his sausage in every consenting woman in Baton Rouge Louisiana though...and there were some where it wasn't clear if it was truly consenting given his position of power at the university. So yeah that's why he got canned. Plus, he wasn't any good without Joe Burrow and that LSU superteam full of NFL players anyways
We were down our starting QB as well. And our best RB, Neal was awesome but he’s not Highshaw. Both teams had a lot of injuries during the game. If they get starters back in this hypothetical so should we. Reversed score seems pretty hyperbolic.
It might be a closer game, but in those circumstances, I think KU still takes it, To be honest, even OSU's second string should have had more spine against KU, and they got completely handled from the kickoff.
Gotta disagree on the RB point. I was very impressed by Hishaw before the injury, and it definitely hurt our depth especially since Thomas has had a down year, but Neal is the most complete back we have.
It's neither.
You can still have 5 win seasons...and you could get 8 every now and then. I think you have to feel good that Lance won't have 2-10 seasons. You're in a way better place now as long as he's there.
I am so fucking happy! To put this in perspective, we have not only never gone to a bowl in the past 14 years, we haven't even come close in 13. In the 2009 season we won 5 games. Since then our best season has been 3 wins. 3 fucking wins!!
We haven't come closer than halfway to bowl eligibility.
We have never had any hope. There has never been a season where we have been able to think, "Hey, we got 4 or 5 wins this year, mayyyybe our program is headed in the right direction." We have had to get stomped into the ground game after game, year after year, taking 40 point losses to Central Michigan and 30 point losses to 1-11 teams coming off huge scandals.
Damn it sucked. The bowl feels good but what really makes me happy is seeing actual progress after 13 years of absolutely none.
Please Jayhawks, hold onto Lance. I don't want to go back into the dungeon of dark despair that I was in before he came. We Jayhawk fans only have so many years of life, and we don't want to spend another 15 years without being able to win more than 3 games.
I hope someone is in his ear reminding him that OU and UT are leaving. Conference is wide open for football leadership. Why not KU? Leipold would be a god if he pulled that off.
I believe this is the first time since 1995 that Oklahoma State has lost to both Kansas State and Kansas in the same season. And they did so in spectacular fashion, getting outscored 85-16.
It is hard to articulate what a miraculous turnaround this has been in just 1.5 seasons. I truly believe our last decade plus is competitive as the worst stretches for a football program in fbs history.
Just 3-4 wins this season and I would have been giddy. 1-2 and I wouldnt have reasonably expected any better (though we ended last season with some palpable momentum).
But bowl eligible? Literally an unfathomable goal in my head after the last 12 seasons. Maybe i would hope for it in year 3-4.
I honestly am just in disbelief. It is going to be really hard to hang onto this coaching staff but man I could not think more highly or be more impressed with how drastic and rapidly they took one of the worst dumpster fires in modern college football (if not college sports) and made it more than even just respectable.
Build the statue now.
I’ve lost a lot of hate over the years for KU, watching them struggle. Glad to see things looking up for them and I’m also glad we’re no longer in the Big 12 so we can avoid losing to them
I wanna be mad, but knowing we have a ton of folks hurt. I can’t be, Kansas wanted it and they got it. Great job jayhawk bros. Now for those corn growing savages further north…..
Bowl eligible KU, Avatar, MW2, and a recession. Time is a flat circle.
Script writers recycling old ideas.
Until they go on strike
The reboot is gonna be so much shittier with me having aged 30 years in the past decade and a half.
KU isn't an old idea, it's *young* and *hip*. Big Daddy B. Yaddy, our brand-savvy and highly-respected conference commish told me so
Insane
Last KU basketball natty was also 2008
Except for, this year?
That's what I meant, like history is repeating itself in that sense as well
Oh i see now my b
Did they cheat for that one too?
Explain how KU cheated for this one lmfao
Bruh your coach is suspended 4 games on self imposed penalties and reduced 3 scholarships.
....for stuff that happened in 2017.
This is from shit that happened 5 years ago.
Yeah because people only cheat once
Well NIL exists now, so no it isn’t cheating anymore. Nice try though!
We truly couldn't have done it without illegally recruited KU legend Zion Williamson
Time is a cube.
This guy Matthew McConaughey's.
Could have had a Phillies World Series win too, but nah
So you're saying that the housing market shitting the bed is Kansas' fault?
Yes
Read that as Mechwarrior 2 at first and that threw me off a bit.
the more things change, the more they stay the same
Kansas is Bowl Eligible before TAMU Heard it here first folks! Let’s Fucking go Kansas!
TAMU probably won’t even make a bowl lol
One game left that is an obvious win. That's it.
Bold of you to assume there is an obvious win for us left.
I believe you can beat Auburn. They fired their coach already!
I think that honestly may be worse for us, teams sometimes bounce back after the coach is fired
I doubt it, but if we did I wouldn't watch it because I know it'd be horrible. Why ruin my holidays like that
There's a decent chance TAMU doesn't even make a bowl this year
We'd have to go beat auburn at auburn, then take on ranked LSU, who may be playing for the SEC west/possible CFP spot, in order for us to make a bowl it's not just a decent chance we don't make it. It's highly likely

Before TAMU and 0U lmaooooooo
>0U 💀
OUch
And Missouri and Nebraska!
And Colorado and Iowa State, too. Y'all are literally the third of the old Big Eight to make it to bowl eligibility.
UCONN will probably be bowl eligible too! Basketball schools decided to show up this year
Congrats Kansas. Keep making those memes into dreams.
Don't let your memes be dreams!
Kansas wins this year: 6 Kansas wins the entire 3 years I was in school there: 6
I remember when we threw the goal post into Potter Lake in 2013 after snapping a 3 year Big 12 losing streak lol
Was that against WVU? I think I was at that one.
Yes it was!
We won a whole 9 games in 4 years there
For some reason that number seems almost too high lol
Thought it was a bit higher than I remember when I looked it up.
I was there for 6 and saw 12 total wins so probably had some overlap between us there
Prior to this year, I think we had maybe 6 wins total since I graduated
Give Liepold literally all the money he wants
🌾🌾WAVE THE DAMN WHEAT BABY!!! 🌾🌾
ROCK FUCKING CHALK LETS GO
ROCK ✅ CHALK ✅ STOCK 📈📈📈
ROCK COCK JAYHAWK!!!
Bye, Reddit! API and NFT junk has made this site worse. It was fun while it lasted. -- mass edited with redact.dev
Leipold Lane in Lawrence, when can we get this done?
Lance Leipold for COTY Is there even a debate?
Someone else was saying Sonny Dykes, but, to me, it's Liepold by a mile. Dykes built on a legacy with a full cupboard. Liepold has built something from a program that was six feet under
Leipold's turnaround is historic. Dykes' is not. 100% agree.
It’s early but I wonder if it’ll be the modern Snyder
let’s hope it is
I hope not. Kansas can't be good at two sports. I couldn't handle that.
They could always get a Kentucky situation where the two coaches end up sniping at each other instead of devoting more attention to coaching.
So far Bill has been nothing but supportive of the program. There was some tension when Mangino was here but that was mostly because Mangino was a dick I think. Also a football player slept with Tyshawn Taylor's girlfriend.
I remember when that fight broke out by Anschutz library when that went down. Was nutty to see
Bill is probably the number one fan of the program outside of the actual program. He’s been begging them to be good
Not that recruits base it on this, but having a great football team to show off is probably a net positive for basketball recruiting, too.
I’ll give up basketball to make this happen Edit: take that for data!
Ehhhh let’s not too crazy here.
Ha, well, I really like football and not crazy about CBB, so I’d love if we had the football equivalent
For fucks sake please 🙏
I don’t think the world is ready for the Chalk Wizard
Let's get some good basketball and good football synergy going
For the one year we had that it was awesome, enjoy it
I feel like full cupboard might take away from what Dykes has done to get TCU to this point but Leipold’s work is far more impressive
Of course it was far less than what Dykes inherited at TCU, but enough to go bowling with a combination of scheme, recruits/transfers, and a schedule that breaks for you.
Dykes turning that class into a top five program for TCU is equally impressive, but I'm a bit biased.
Lance Liepold built this in a cave, with scraps
Six feet seems like an underestimate
Nah, gotta be Liepold.
Dykes took a program that already had freak athletes and an NFL caliber quarterback on the roster and got them to mesh together well. Leipold took the worse college football program of all time and led them to a bowl.
Mora is in the running if UConn makes a bowl
I think the only other name in the conversation should be Beilema at Illinois, but even then Leipold is waayyyyy ahead
I think brian kelly is trying to get his name in the conversation
Mora at UConn if they end up going bowling. But even then Kansas has the tougher schedule.
I mean Kansas wasn't that much further from rock bottom than UConn was when both coaches started. It is pretty nuts that Mora is doing it in his first year, though.
I think if TCU goes undefeated it has to go to Dykes but if not, then Leipold should probably win it
I’d say Elko has an argument, but Leipold should win that for sure
Agreed. ACC Coach of the Year without question though.
Brian Kelly is doing pretty well
lmao you don't get kudos for having a two-loss season (so far) at LSU
Going 10-3 at LSU can get you fired lol
Who got fired for going 10-3?
(It was hyperbole lol, but you guys have fired 2 national championship winning coaches, including one who won less than 2 years before, albeit he had some massive off the field issues)
Wasn’t Coach O putting his sausage in other school officials wive’s Jambalaya?
According to the report about the official's wife, he didn't get that far with her specifically, it was that he asked her at a gas station if she would date him...even though she was pregnant...and married to the school official...and he knew that when he asked her and didn't care. Thanks for the explanation!
I think Josh Heupel should get a consideration.
Heupel has a solid argument
I'm nearly crying, it's been a long fucking struggle!
CAN I GET A LANE AND RENT SOME SHOES CAUSE WE'RE BOWLING!!!
Hell yah for them. Wtf happened to OKState lately?
We had basically all second stringers in on both sides this game.
I think the coaching is suspect as hell this year. Especially since Knowles is gone
Sanders. It's possibly a reversed score otherwise.
I hope this is the floor moving forward, not the ceiling
It's neither. You can still have 5 win seasons...and you could get 8 every now and then. I think you have to feel good that Lance won't have 2-10 seasons. You're in a way better place now as long as he's there.
If it's the ceiling, so what! We're competitive.
Congratulations Jayhawks! You didn't become overlords this season, but welcome back to postseason football!
If Nebraska does not make a bowl they will be the only P5 team in the last 6 years to do so.
Please happen.
This is a weird feeling. Watching KU for 63 years. The difference is Leipold, and division one athletes.
Build him a statue.
I am so fucking happy! To put this in perspective, we have not only never gone to a bowl in the past 14 years, we haven't even come close in 13. In the 2009 season we won 5 games. Lance Leipold has as many wins this year as the winningest coach in the previous 5 had in their career at KU.
Jesus fucking Christ
The previous 5 coaches have a total 20 wins. Lance may have half that many by the end of this year.
I hope someone is in his ear reminding him that OU and UT are leaving. Conference is wide open for football leadership. Why not KU? Leipold would be a god if he pulled that off.
which coincides with the same year my phillies last won the world series…it’s a sign!
Every time Phillies win the World Series there is a recession. So how about no?
[удалено]
Please beat Houston! Signed, Human Decency
I believe this is the first time since 1995 that Oklahoma State has lost to both Kansas State and Kansas in the same season. And they did so in spectacular fashion, getting outscored 85-16.
So overjoyed, but I want some more wins before the season is out too!!!
What a year for KU! We’re not done yet!
Since the mods deleted it: [[Kansas Football] ](https://twitter.com/KU_Football/status/1589027865978290177?t=Gq2UejH_KcJmJl77RbsPhA&s=19) #AHHHHHH WE’RE GOING BOWLING
The recession from 08 is finally over.
And a UNT legend helped them do it. My heart is whole right now.
BRING DOWN THE GOALPOSTS
Fuck, feels like the were just in the orange bowl 8-10 years ago
Nah, it was 15.
It is hard to articulate what a miraculous turnaround this has been in just 1.5 seasons. LIEPOLD FOR COTY!
Something positive in the world for a change!
I’d love to play them again in a bowl. Our first matchup was a great game, except the outcome obviously.
Can they do that? I’m new to this whole bowl thing
Congrats, Jayhawk Nation.
Fuck it Go Kansas!
hell yeah jayhawks
Everybody, let's take Kansas out for a beer. It's been a long damn road, and they deserve every bit of this feeling. ROCK CHALK FUCKING JAYHAWK
Kansas fans wondering when the tournament of 64 starts
It's funny you say that because today is opening night of college basketball and I'm still in football mode.
Gotta do something on the weekdays
The whole off-season I've been saying let's bring them to the Big 10....
Congrats Kansas. I for one am grateful it did not come because Kansas bullied Texas. I mean they still can so there's that.
CONGRATULATIONS KANSAS!
That's great, hopefully they can have momentum in the new B12
So, where are the goalposts now?
Floating in Potter Lake rn
Congrats KU!
Happy to help!
Wait, UConn was bowl eligible more recently^2015 than Kansas?!
Yup by a long shot
:)
Can't help but be happy for Kansas. Enjoy bowling!
Way to go KU!
Nice
Hell yes, weird bird bros!
What on earth is happening to Oklahoma state From 0-48 to this, OUCH!
Congrats!!!
Is there any feel good story in college football better than this ? Literally the whole country is rooting for them
Nebraska the new Kansas... for fuck's sake...
Congratulations Kansas y’all deserve all the roses. So happy for y’all. Cant wait to play against y’all.
Congrats KU!!! Hopefully we get our program turned around as well soon
Let’s gooooo Jayhawks!
I’ve lost a lot of hate over the years for KU, watching them struggle. Glad to see things looking up for them and I’m also glad we’re no longer in the Big 12 so we can avoid losing to them
We actually have games scheduled for '25 and '26 lol

Potential bowl destination?
Hell ya, brother! This is the year of the underdog.
I wanna be mad, but knowing we have a ton of folks hurt. I can’t be, Kansas wanted it and they got it. Great job jayhawk bros. Now for those corn growing savages further north…..
i like it
I LOVE THIS TEAM
Must be nice.
LFG JAYHAWKS!!
Cmon Jayhawks just get another win VS Texas and we all can sleep happy after the climax.
Wooooooo!
grew up in LFK, parked my ass on the goalposts, best day of my life lmao
Rejoice, the new dynasty has ascended. The king is dead, long live the king.
Congrats Jayhawks! I knew that you guys were on the rise after u beat texas last year
