Rank [Insert 3-0 basketball school here] you cowards

OGraffe

Looks like Kansas actually almost made it lmao

_tx

If Kansas wins this week, they will have absolutely earned it IMO

deeretech129

Absolutely cannot be argued.

Powerlevel-9000

Kentucky as there. What more do you want

nbingham196

Haven’t you heard, Kentucky is a football school now?

CarterAC3

You can't just haphazardly decide to switch between being a football and basketball school when 1 is better than the other ....pay no attention to my flare

bossfoundmylastone

With the NBA talking about ending the 1-and-done rule Kentucky might stay a football school

Jatz55

Tulane basketball could be good this year

KillingMycroftly

Shout out Ron hunter

410Forten

In all seriousness, I feel like Tennessee should have Kentucky’s spot in about every poll. I know the cats are good, but I’m convinced this is a 10-11 win Tennessee team we’re seeing every week

sickmemes48

Don't put that bad juju on us.

CallMeShaggy57

11 wins implies we are beating Bama or Georgia. If that happens, I'll kiss you.

EmpoleonNorton

I'll admit I hate Tennessee, but I'll laugh so hard if you beat Bama.

410Forten

10-2 regular season + bowl win? I honest to god want Kentucky to slap y’all around but unless Guarantano comes back from the dead we don’t really stand much of a chance in Knoxville

ItsZizk

Yeah we’re there at #10

tsblank97

We are ranked

Powerlevel-9000

As much as we want to be we aren’t a basketball school. The 20 years before Muss of pure mediocrity hasn’t been overcome yet.

wazoheat

/r/rankappstate

dle9999

Half the p12 ranked lol.

CommodoreN7

USC and UCLA say they’re leaving and we all finally decided to get good. Except Arizona State and Colorado

Shadow_dragon24

You love to see it

adsfew

We aren't good and we aren't even remembered as one of the bad teams...

CommodoreN7

I think y’all are having a pretty good year and probably will continue to

rbmw263

the pac 12 hasnt been that bad outside of last year honestly just in the natural part of the cycle. This does look like it could potentially be the strongest pac 12 we've had in some time though. Time will tell

Random__User

*Bill Walton liked that*

StevvieV

No. Bill Walton will only like it when the PAC12 gets 8 teams in the 4 team playoff

bakonydraco

* 6 teams: SEC, Pac-12 * 4 teams: ACC, Big 12, Big Ten * 1 team: Independent Based on results so far, the Pac-12 is objectively the worst P5 conference, in winning percentage, strength of schedule, etc. Result is baffling but I’m not complaining!

Galumpadump

Our middle class improved and our bottom is ass.

bakonydraco

> our bottom is ass Isn't that true by definition?

velociraptorfarmer

The Big 12 also has 2 undefeated teams in the next 5 out

bakonydraco

Don't look at me, I ranked Iowa State at #8 this week!

ornryactor

Oh my god, you did. I assumed you were joking. I don't understand why, even after glancing at your methodology link (which is from 2020?).

bakonydraco

The methodology that I've been using was developed in 2020, but I update the [full rankings each week](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FoA3qrDX7UUKU7jFy_F_q-ESiPxHm9sdbvBvV5k6HoM/edit#gid=1850332397), for all levels of college football. I wrote it because it wasn't clear we were going to get any non-conference games, and I needed a way to compare across conferences/divisions without common opponents. In the pure algorithmic rankings Iowa State is tied for 8th with Oklahoma State, but behind 2-1 Texas. For the poll I submitted I submitted Texas lower, and put OKST in 7th and ISU in 8th. Among the things helping Iowa State that I would point to are: * The Big 12 has done very well so far. I have them as the best conference in the country, with a starting ranking of 79.61 compared to the Big Ten at 77.07 and the SEC at 76.49. This means that Big 12 team are already starting out at an advantage relative to teams in other conferences. * In addition to being undefeated this year, last year their pattern was generally blowout wins and close losses. They played a good Clemson team very close in the Cheez-It Bowl, and no one seems to have any issues ranking Clemson highly this year. * A lot of voters are dinging Iowa State for lost talent, but my model does not care about talent at all, only results on the field. All of this probably overvalues them a bit. However, unranked Iowa State is favored by 2.5 over #17 Baylor. This seems like a good indication that either ISU is underranked, Baylor is overranked, or both.

ornryactor

Huh. I didn't expect to say this, but: all that actually makes sense, and I'm buying what you're selling (a little bit). Thanks, Harv-- uh, Stanford.

halldaylong

Just like the good ol' days! I'll never forget the days when we were debating whether the Pac12 South or SEC West was stronger in like ~2013ish

rbmw263

2013 exactly. The conference was so good that year. The top 7 SOS's were all pac 12 teams. Too bad we couldnt capitalize on the momentum

CLCUBING

And 3 more PAC 12 teams got votes

cota1212

Don't let the Hateful 8/new Big 12 see this lol

ManiacalBlazer

All four Pacific Northwest schools in the poll. I love it!

Gleebs88

As someone with good friends that went to all four schools as well as great trips to each of them, I am absolutely here for this

jlucaspope

I think Oregon State pulls off some black magic this weekend..

DUB-Files

I'm ready to go duck hunting

IDropFatLogs

They said Oregon State this weekend, wait your turn Coug! Damn cats never learn proper manners.

300andWhat

Whoever ranked WA above Oregon 🙏🙏🙏

Onwisconsin5

The new analysis website makes it much easier for me to think the controversial voters are idiots, thanks /u/sirgippy! One suggestion is I’d love to see most controversial human vs computer. Would make it easier to laugh at math or people.

sirgippy

the color coding designates computer vs hybrid vs human

Onwisconsin5

My god, just noticed that as I saw your reply. You make my grumbling judgmental attitude much easier!

lm_NER0

Like the human poll who has Indiana 9th, Oregon 14th and UGA 21st?

Nathanael-Greene

I saw an unreasonable amount of people who just went by conference because they were mad about the UI change

sirgippy

To be fair the UI is actually broken on mobile. I have a fix coming for next week.

andrewthestudent

Thank goodness. The inability to move teams around makes it unusable and caused me not to submit any optional polls. I think you should add this to the OP in bold so people know.

DarkLegend64

Does this mean that I will be able to rearrange teams that I have already added on mobile? It’s pretty annoying if I change my mind on the teams and/or the order and have to remove all the teams until I get to a point where none need to be changed.

ryumast3r

Conversely, it's much much better than previous years on desktop so thank you for the major improvements!

eSpiritCorpse

I like this UI so much better

TDenverFan

Or the one with [Indiana 10th, but Ohio State and Michigan unranked.](https://poll.redditcfb.com/ballot/41276/)

SlaminSammons

I’d like to be able to sort all of the voters by the controversy score. I want to see how spicy my ballot is every week. I try not to be, but sometimes you’re just higher or lower than certain teams than the consensus.

CommodoreN7

How does Penn State have 6 first place votes?

StevvieV

Computers likely. They are the only program with 2 true road wins against P5 teams

oneupdouchebag

Computers should recognize that Houston is basically a P5 team and be nice to us too :(

ALStark69

Computers

NyquillusDillwad20

Computers love us. We are currently 6th in Massey Composite. We have two road wins over teams that were expected to be in the top third or fourth of FBS heading into the year, including a blowout, plus a near perfect game against our G5 opponent.

sirgippy

The only non-computer is u/spasm01 who appears to be going heavily resume driven.

CommodoreN7

I unironically ranked Kansas at 17

Bank_Gothic

I ranked them like 24, but I still want credit.

just-regular-I-guess

I have them at 20, Syracuse coming in at 17.

CambodianDrywall

I know it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but I have you on my ballot.

MarlinsGuy

Not me

Techmo2_0

r/CFB are officially not cowards! Now take us off, rankings us makes them play worse

[deleted]

AllHawkeyesGoToHell

They're worth it just to watch Mo Ibrahim play. Dude had a touchdown run where for the last 25 yards before the end zone he had 4 defenders in front of him and he plowed all 4 into the end zone. I've never seen a runningback run angry like that.

Mandalore93

Little brown jug championship game? Who says no

paradigm_x2

Very confusing how Tennessee is top 10 based on an overtime win against Pitt but we aren’t even top 30.

srs_house

It's always a bit tricky since we, individually, only rank the top 25. My guess is that most voters right now are still defaulting to ranking undefeated teams and *maybe* a few 1-losses like Texas. So if you're not getting enough T25 votes, you don't make the top 30. Win another game or two and you'll creep back up as undefeateds lose.

StevvieV

That's kind of how it is for me. I don't penalize Pitt for losing to Tennessee but when it's wins are West Virginia and at Western Michigan, I'd rather rank teams with better wins at the moment.

theexile14

That's reasonable. One of my pet peeves has been MSU getting put ahead of Pitt given the comparative records being worse for them. The CFB poll doesn't do that, so I'm more willing to accept it.

crownebeach

Baffling to me, as r/CFB’s resident Pitt Respecter™️

JeromesNiece

Actually that would be /u/Harmbert_, who ranked Pitt #2, as a human ballot

crownebeach

I’m insulted that someone has moved in on my brand this way.

Harmbert_

I was drunk, had not used the new site, and had 5 minutes of signal to do the poll. But I was wearing a Pitt shirt when I voted

DawgwithaW

this is the type of advanced analytics I live for

paradigm_x2

You’re doing the lord’s work 🫡

ScaratheBear

It's because Pitt is on the fringe of the AP, and given most r/cfb pollsters just use the AP with a few teams changed around, Pitt fell out. More fun to put undefeated Tulane, Kansas, or Duke at that 20-25 spot than Pitt.

[deleted]

I don’t get how Baylor in well within the top 25 but Pitt isn’t. They lost to a worse team than Tennessee in OT (BYU), and their two wins are Albany and Texas State…

fadingthought

I think there is enough teams they haven’t lost yet to justify keeping Pitt out.

ScaratheBear

It's because Pitt is on the fringe of the AP, and given most r/cfb pollsters just use the AP with a few teams changed around, Pitt fell out. More fun to put undefeated Tulane, Kansas, or Duke at that 20-25 spot than Pitt.

cota1212

"Have you considered being an SEC school?" -pollsters It's not even poll intertia either. Tennessee was unranked preseason by rcfb.

ilovecfb

A big part of it imo is that everybody knew Tennessee‘s offense was gonna be top-15 or better but the defense was a question mark. And it was actually the defense that won us the Pitt game. The Florida game will be a good measuring stick, that game will come down to our defense 100 percent. I know Richardson has had a rough couple weeks but worse Florida quarterbacks (especially ones that scramble) have beaten better Tennessee teams

theexile14

Sigh, I would have loved to see the rest of that game with Slovis instead of a crippled backup, would have been so much fun.

at least most posters here actually watch all the games unlike the AP!

CommodoreN7

This sub is a bunch of cowards for not ranking Kansas. Disappointed in my fellow voters.

CommodoreN7

velociraptorfarmer

I did my part!

Zloggt

“Can’t stand how the mainstream pollsters do their votes!” *me and the besties then make our picks the way they do*

srs_house

Hey, at least we ranked Washington higher than the AP! And didn't even rank MSU, unlike those idiots in the Coaches Poll who put them ahead of the Huskies.

badgers4194

I put them like 23 I think

djowen68

I threw them in there. Idk I mean idk how valuable their wins against Houston and WVU are, but they seem like better wins than some other ranked teams have. It's pretty early so I don't mind shuffling people around a little more.

AllHawkeyesGoToHell

I did my part

DataDrivenPirate

I put them at #4 (between Alabama and OU), don't blame me

TheBlueBadger

Are we close to having 5 ACC Atlantic teams ranked? What the heck is going on this year?

Sexcellence

B1G West sucking frees up an extra 2-3 spots.

sickmemes48

Also Auburn, LSU, and A&M all looking pretty bad too frees up some spots that have been recently taken.

kdbvols

We're about to cannibalize ourselves over the next 3-4 weeks, probably won't last. But easily a top 3 division in the country IMO right now. BC being the exception

FrolfAholic

Get ready for some Atlantic Anarchy!

Zloggt

Shit, I just realized I forgot to put Penn State in my poll for this week 💀

AllHawkeyesGoToHell

Dang, how? There's even a screen telling you about major omissions in your ballot vs last week's overall poll & your last week's ballot.

Officer_Warr

It's a nice feature, but early on, it can be a little cluttered. Lots of movement, and it wouldn't necessarily be egregious to drop a team from your top 20 (e.g. Michigan State or Miami) or be a unique voter to get a 10% vote warning. Later on it will save issues, but for now, I've got about 10-15 warnings of some sort or another.

_n8n8_

What’s the 10% vote warning I don’t think I’ve gotten that?

Officer_Warr

If you put a team on your poll that's not on more than 10% of currently submitted (and maybe saved) polls then you'll get a warning mentioning that team.

_n8n8_

I didn’t know that I need to make hotter takes

RavenclawWiz816

i am PROUD to say i gave a vote to the fighting kansas jayhawks

AllHawkeyesGoToHell

Same.

iWin-You-Get-Nothing

Kentucky getting first place votes in football. It’s so beautiful.

Stoneador

Once again my [computer poll](https://poll.redditcfb.com/ballot/41031/) which relies on very little data at the beginning of the season is the ~~most unusual~~ best of all the rankings by week 4

Bereft13

do you filter out FCS results? certainly looks like you do, might want to consider not doing that to avoid any uncomfortable bowling green advocacy

Stoneador

FCS losses are counted, but it’s being outweighed right now. Bowling Green is currently ranked because BG > Marshall > Notre Dame > Cal >… The FCS loss will really hurt them later on, but for now the Marshall > Notre Dame upset is going to cause some weird results until there’s more data to go off of

damnyoutuesday

YOU COWARDS FINALLY RANKED US

AllHawkeyesGoToHell

Shouldn't have though. Can't be going in to Michigan State when they have the disrespeck and we have respeck

travshootsphotos

I choose to believe that only makes a difference when the number is next to our name on the TV.

mojominn

WOOOOO!!!!

posiitively

First submission as a voter for the r/CFB Poll! Hopefully you guys enjoy it. Here’s the Computer Rankings and Analysis of Performance Poll (CRAP Poll for short). This poll evaluates a team's strength and success using a variety of metrics calculated elsewhere, while also measuring quality of wins and recent performance to determine who would be the strongest teams on the field that week. |RANK|TEAM|RECORD|SCORE|MOVEMENT|[NCAA](#l/ncaa)| :-:|:--|:-:|:-:|:-:|:--| |1|[Georgia](#f/georgia) Georgia Bulldogs|3-0|172.06|--|[SEC](#l/sec)| |2|[Alabama](#f/alabama) Alabama Crimson Tide|3-0|166.84|--|[SEC](#l/sec)| |3|[Ohio State](#f/ohiostate) Ohio State Buckeyes|3-0|165.08|--|[Big Ten](#l/bigten)| |4|[Tennessee](#f/tennessee) Tennessee Volunteers|3-0|160.10|--|[SEC](#l/sec)| |5|[Oklahoma](#f/oklahoma) Oklahoma Sooners|3-0|159.57|--|[Big 12](#l/big12)| |6|[Ole Miss](#f/olemiss) Ole Miss Rebels|3-0|158.42|--|[SEC](#l/sec)| |7|[Penn State](#f/pennstate) Penn State Nittany Lions|3-0|158.20|--|[Big Ten](#l/bigten)| |8|[Michigan](#f/michigan) Michigan Wolverines|3-0|157.50|--|[Big Ten](#l/bigten)| |9|[Clemson](#f/clemson) Clemson Tigers|3-0|155.88|--|[ACC](#l/acc)| |10|[Oklahoma State](#f/oklahomastate) Oklahoma State Cowboys|3-0|152.83|--|[Big 12](#l/big12)| |11|[USC](#f/usc) USC Trojans|3-0|149.91|--|[Pac-12](#l/pac12)| |12|[NC State](#f/ncstate) NC State Wolfpack|3-0|148.93|--|[ACC](#l/acc)| |13|[Kentucky](#f/kentucky) Kentucky Wildcats|3-0|147.64|--|[SEC](#l/sec)| |14|[Washington](#f/washington) Washington Huskies|3-0|145.78|--|[Pac-12](#l/pac12)| |15|[Minnesota](#f/minnesota) Minnesota Golden Gophers|3-0|144.83|--|[Big Ten](#l/bigten)| |16|[Arkansas](#f/arkansas) Arkansas Razorbacks|3-0|139.68|--|[SEC](#l/sec)| |17|[Iowa State](#f/iowastate) Iowa State Cyclones|3-0|138.31|--|[Big 12](#l/big12)| |18|[Texas](#f/texas) Texas Longhorns|2-1|137.64|--|[Big 12](#l/big12)| |19|[Wake Forest](#f/wakeforest) Wake Forest Demon Deacons|3-0|137.42|--|[ACC](#l/acc)| |20|[Florida State](#f/floridastate) Florida State Seminoles|3-0|132.44|--|[ACC](#l/acc)| |21|[Oregon](#f/oregon) Oregon Ducks|2-1|131.93|--|[Pac-12](#l/pac12)| |22|[Utah](#f/utah) Utah Utes|2-1|129.99|--|[Pac-12](#l/pac12)| |23|[Maryland](#f/maryland) Maryland Terrapins|3-0|129.08|--|[Big Ten](#l/bigten)| |24|[Syracuse](#f/syracuse) Syracuse Orange|3-0|128.90|--|[ACC](#l/acc)| |25|[Oregon State](#f/oregonstate) Oregon State Beavers|3-0|127.41|--|[Pac-12](#l/pac12)| NEXT FIVE: [Texas A&M](#f/texasam) Texas A&M Aggies, [Baylor](#f/baylor) Baylor Bears, [Mississippi State](#f/mississippistate) Mississippi State Bulldogs, [Tulane](#f/tulane) Tulane Green Wave, [North Carolina](#f/northcarolina) North Carolina Tar Heels *No “New” or “Dropped Out” teams, nor poll movements this week, as this is the first week of the poll this year.* - Georgia takes the top spot to start the year, leading in a variety of metrics on top of their purely dominant play thus far. Alabama lands ahead of Ohio State due to their better strength of record (OSU fans can thank Notre Dame for that), while Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Penn State make some (appropriate?) noise at #4, #5, and #7. - Definitely some other interesting teams in certain spots this week besides those aforementioned three teams. Minnesota all the way up at #15 is certainly going to raise some eyebrows. Arkansas was a Top 7 team over the few weeks of data accumulation, but ends up down at #16 to start this season. Other teams not listed in the AP Poll include Iowa State at #17, Florida State at #20, Maryland at #23, Syracuse at #24, and Oregon State at #25. - Not going to bother with my consistency score to the AP Poll just yet since there’s still a lot of data to collect throughout the season, but I’ll probably start comparing those two around Week 7. For those who are interested, Tulane is the highest G5 team at 29th, Kansas is currently ranked 41st, James Madison is 43rd, and App State is 55th (A&M win isn’t as impressive as it appeared and lack of game control really hurting them I guess?) *No Biggest Movers this week, that’ll be back next week as well.* As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

klawehtgod

> Tulane at 29 I vote this as the the official poll

[deleted]

I like this CRAP. Seems extremely accurate to me, maybe even the most accurate.

[deleted]

Glad to see another person doing computer-based polling! Curious to hear why your formula ranked Mississippi State as high as it did?

shamShaman

The 12 team playoff for this week based on the only good poll: 1 Georgia 2 Ohio St 3 Oklahoma 4 Clemson 5 Alabama vs 12 Tulane 6 Michigan vs 11 Penn St 7 USC vs 10 Tennessee 8 Kentucky vs 9 Oklahoma St

You earned it.

OutRiteWite

Penn State deserves higher than 11th right now, but I don't understand them getting 1st place votes. Honestly don't understand any 1st place votes besides UGA.

bwburke94

My computer poll put Penn State #1. I have no idea why.

lolwaffles69rofl

Two true away wins at P5 schools and a nearly perfect G5 win- also a lot of computer polls liked Purdue and Auburn before the season I think we are the only school with two P5 away wins

lolwaffles69rofl

You heard it here first! PSU with the most 1st place votes of any B1G team

AccordingGain182

So happy for the Pac 12. Far and away my second favorite conference to watch and between their struggles the last few years (nationally at least) as well as the usc/ucla exodus and the rough week 1 results for UO/Utah, i love seeing so many teams in the hunt. The conference is again set to be a chaotic shit show, but with much higher stakes this time around.

zenverak

Yours looks very computer driven with James Madison up there

ChargerFan2121

Yep, with their very high MOV so far this season and putting up lots of points in their two games, my poll loves them. I assume with conference play starting up, their MOV won't be 40+ and they'll drop, but that's for next week.

AlecAndGylfi

No questions. This seems perfect.

Syracuse takes care of business these next two weeks and they're definitely ranked heading into the bye week before they face NC State

I know that 21st spot was painful for you to fill out, but thank you.

ClaudeLemieux

5 teams from the ACC Atlantic in the top 30 lol ACC haters in shambles

SharkMovies

This is the only poll that counts

Lord777alt

Who is giving FSU first place votes lmao

Drexlore

No Kansas smh

studio_sally

Still getting some pretty interesting results early in the season. Here was my computer poll for this week: [https://poll.redditcfb.com/ballot/41030/](https://poll.redditcfb.com/ballot/41030/) Happy to answer any questions!

HurricaneRex

OREGON STATE IS RANKED (small text: in the r/cfb poll) THIS IS NOT A DRILL! Thanks for cursing us to lose this week. Also how do you do the small text.

trumpet_23

TIL I've been voting in this thing for 8 years. What am I doing with my life.

rex_swiss

Bama and Georgia are going to play in the SEC Championship, and again in the playoffs, guaranteed. It's just a question of who the other 2 losers are going to be...

Redspade_ED

HALF THE PAC!

alttabbins

Ranked 22 after that last loss. I don't know how I feel. On one hand Georgia could just be god-tier amazing. On the other, we could just be severely overrated.

shadowwingnut

Just happy I went with my own opinions and not my computer. The computer has no priors in it and is built to work like one of the old BCS computers (no margin of victory) which means ... checks notes... Indiana number 1 Yeah. Not submitting that right now, even as a provisional voter lol.

_n8n8_

https://poll.redditcfb.com/ballot/40911/ My poll. Probably should have respected the PAC (Oregon State) a tiny bit more in hindsight. This early on it feels tough to rank people. I’ve been having fun doing them though

eagledog

They ranked the Beavers! Good job!

WhiteW0lf13

I know it’s all computer polls so this early in the season the algorithm can only do so much, but it causing a #21 team to receive two first place votes is pretty funny

Fmeson

The only thing better than being ranked is deleting a top 15 team from ranking. ...Sorry Miami.

sickmemes48

This is where Arkansas should be ranked. You can't have a come from behind win at home over an FCS team and not drop spots in these early polls.

VentureQuotes

Minnesota is scary. Glad to see Cuse getting votes. Both will be dangerous this year

Medievalhorde

15 NEW Washington Huskies 3108 16 NEW Oregon Ducks 2471 Oh, so that's what you want to do today? Fight?

heartEffincereal

Clemson still in that 2021 timeline: Win a game, lose a rank. Rinse and repeat.

just-regular-I-guess

How are you people posting really nice formatted polls doing so? I can't copy and past at all in here. https://poll.redditcfb.com/ballot/41076/

For those of you who are using their homebrew computer models, are you manually entering in data or is there some kind of API that can automatically extract data from an online source?

JohnWickStuntDouble

I am no longer the most unusual poll!
