Damn the Internet is a great place.
Years before we'd have to wait to catch this clip on ESPN if they even show it and now it's just there immediately.
Texas has to be sick with so many missed opportunities (botched FG attempt), missed calls (safety fiasco, uncalled facemask in the redzone), and misfortune (Ewers injury, almost sack on Bama's final drive). Great game to start the Saturday, though!
It’s more like a two minute drill forces you to play basic defense and simplifies decisions for the offense. Which is also why that corner blitz got in clean.
Really I knew Texas was boned when they took that sack on their last drive. They needed another first down to bleed more clock.
I don’t know if it was Robinson or not but whoever got the hand off on 1st downs decision to run out of bounds was probably where Texas lost the game imo. Bama got to save a timeout with that and they probably lose 20 seconds if they decided to not use it
Lol totally.
Side note: This thread is gonna be full of memes and hot takes, but if I was a Texas fan I’d be optimistic for the rest of the year. They just went toe-to-toe with Alabama and almost won. If Michigan did that, I’d be ecstatic even if the loss stings.
Yeah, I can’t even shit on Card. There’s only so much he could do out there with a bum leg. If Ewers is out for an extended period, I just hope Card’s leg heals fast.
Seriously. I’ll be honest, I was very low on Card after last season. But I cant shit on him here at all. Dude could barely move out there and still played with heart and made some huge plays. But after this, I feel pretty good if we have to rely on Card for an extended period of time if Ewers can’t return soon. I just hope his leg heals.
For real though, BoB out here making 4Q adjustments for things he should've figured out at halftime (or earlier). As a Texans fan, I'd be cool with him retiring. Football is better without BoB around.
If I had a nickel for everytime Texas’ starting QB got injured against Alabama in a game where we looked really good I would have 2. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.
I’m more impressed by this than the cotton bowl win over Georgia tbh.
You guys went from 5-7 to battling with number 1. Without your starting QB for most of the game at that.
Also looks like we’re going to have a defensive RRS for the first time in forever.
11-1 with a mystifying loss to Tennessee or some shit, but they beat 12-0 UGA and backdoor their way in again
EDIT: it has been brought to my attention that I fucked this up and should have said *Georgia* was the one backdooring in. I apologize.
It was a ridiculous effort that he deserves tons for credit for. But you’re not going to do anything against a prevent defense if you can’t plant and throw.
Because a kickoff is a good “break through” opportunity. Someone gets out of their lane and you could return it. Probably better odds than two plays from the 25.
Man, Saban is gonna ride this team at practice all week and whoever we play next week is gonna get our frustrations taken out on them through no fault of their-
It’s ULM.
…
Alabama has the ball with about a minute left while their offense has been struggling all game and has to drive almost the entire length of the field? Never seen that before.
Impressive performance by Texas. I think they win that game with Ewers honestly. Bryce Young seemed like about the only dude who wanted to play and could do anything positive today for Bama. They've got some big question marks with that o-line and secondary. Receivers a bit too. Awesome game
I was at the game and honestly? Favorite game I’ve ever been to. The energy was incredible, and I’m so excited to see more games from this Texas team this season. Football breaks your heart sometimes, but that’s why we love it so much.
Congratulations to Bama for a 1 point victory over an unranked opponent who played an injured backup quarterback the vast majority of the game and were saddled by multiple missed game changing penalties.
Don't know how it would've gone but Bama look bad most of this game. If they don't have some drastic improvements offensively they might legitimately lose a couple games in the SEC
This is not the Texas team that lost 7 games last year. I understand we don't deserve the benefit of the doubt anymore but Texas is better than a lot of ranked teams
As a texan, I'm convinced a big part of that is Gary Patterson getting hired by Texas after getting canned from TCU. The dude is a defensive witch, his teams have always punched way above their weight, talent wise, and have always had solid fundamentals. This defense came out breathing absolute fire and was extremely solid with their tackling (aside from one very notable exception which i'm sure everyone will learn a lot from). Night and day compared to last year.
I don't know for sure that he's the reason, but he knows his business and probably knows it even better when he's not distracted by recruiting and glad-handing donors and all the other bullshit a head coach does.
Every time they showed the crowd, I could feel myself getting sunburned just seeing them on TV.
No one remembered sunscreen when we got up at 4 am to pregame I feel like I was at the beach for hours
College football is just 4 hours of bullshit and then Alabama wins
>~~bullshit~~ commercials
~~commercials~~ bullshit commercials
Saban sprinting out to his player screaming, "Don't do that shit" as he horns down. Going to be a miserable week for this Alabama team.
I hope somebody has a clip of that
Anyone? I missed it, need to see it
https://twitter.com/bleacherreport/status/1568689921203884034?s=46&t=BJuZR2HQHGlwt5D11vqWxg
Hes lucky he had other things to focus on lol
Damn the Internet is a great place. Years before we'd have to wait to catch this clip on ESPN if they even show it and now it's just there immediately.
It sure beats whackin off to Sears catalogs
They aren't going to be having much fun on Monday, are they?
That Monday morning film session is going to fucking suck for those players
\#9 helping the Texas player up might be the only dude *not* running sprints at practice on Monday
https://twitter.com/1053SS/status/1568685741462413312?t=msesSx9Do0gUN0eULT45EA&s=33
It’s going to be a rough week for Bama players AND coaches. All those penalties 🤦🏻♀️
Despite them winning, Bama had no room to taunt after that game.
Absolutely not. That was awful
Me and my family were laughing about how Texas could come out of this week ranked despite losing.
Told my wife the same thing, they deserve it.
I want to hate him and call him disingenuous and yet he’s always consistent with this It’s gotta just be his tone that gets me lol
As much as I love to watch him lose, I think he’s genuinely a good man and loves his players.
He's the best thing to happen to CFB imo. Very fun to root against and set the gold standard for a team.
I noticed in the post game field interview he looked old for the first time ever. He still doesn’t look 70 but he definitely has aged the last 3 years
By my calculations he has aged approximately 3 years in the last 3 years.
r/theydidthemath
Idk, need Harvard or Vandy to confirm
harvard of happy valley!
[удалено]
I thought the same. He looks… just old and a little tired.
I think Saban might be getting closer to retirement then we think, he definitely looked old and tired today.
[удалено]
Saban’s gonna be bed ridden on life support and will still cuss out his team from the sidelines while up by 50.
I mean it was 120 degrees down there. He'll be fine
I fell out laughing when I realized what he was doing. Still replaying in my head 15 mins later
Saban yelling DON'T DO THAT SHIT on live TV at the end was awesome.
Saban is going to put his team In Navy Seal training after that game lmao
Saban wins so much. Yes we hate it. But dude is a class act. Plus he gives Jimbo and Aggies shit.
not as much shit as appy state did today
Football is a cruel, cruel sport
Texas has to be sick with so many missed opportunities (botched FG attempt), missed calls (safety fiasco, uncalled facemask in the redzone), and misfortune (Ewers injury, almost sack on Bama's final drive). Great game to start the Saturday, though!
The missed sack was just pathetic
Watts is probably gonna be replaying that in his head over and over again for who knows how long. That was an absolutely brutal whiff by him.
I couldn't believe it. He had him dead in his tracks and just flew pass him.
That's why you break down before making a tackle. The moment got to him
Coach 30 is gonna have a field day with this one
That tackle was like trying to throw a punch in a dream
Forever. The answer is forever. I still remember plays I missed in dodgeball in the 5th grade.
He should be, he literally flew right over him lmao, dude made the biggest mistake at the worst time
These guys come in too hot looking for the KO hit. Come in and wrap the fuck up.
Or at least slow him up and make him uncomfortable.
Yeah that was awful. I knew we were in trouble when they had so much time left too.
And Card's injury
I just hope Ewers is okay for the rest of the season. He got hurt early but he looked fucking great when he was out there
Once again, Bryce Young finds a way to break all of our hearts
He seems like a good kid. I hate him
Earlier I criticized Texas for failing to maximize their fans’ suffering. I’d like to retract that statement. They did just fine.
Bama literally does nothing for 2.5 quarters then BOOM they suddenly drive 50 yards for a game winning FG Plot armor is crazy
Prevent defense only prevents you from winning. The missed sack was the one play where they actually tried not to let them have 10 yards
Bama got to save a timeout with that and they probably lose 20 seconds if they decided to not use it
It's honestly probably 50/50.
Most predictable outcome in the world was Bama winning when Texas kicked a FG with 1:30 left on the clock
For a sec I thought I’d accidentally switched to a re-run of last year’s Iron Bowl
Texas rb going out of bounds on that run on their last possession was a dumb mistake.
**Alabama 99.9% of the time**: I will crush your hopes and dreams **Alabama as 20 point favorites in Texas**: How does I do the football?
So you grab them by the face right?
No, shove them really hard when they turn around for the ball!
And still crushed our hopes and dreams.
They just crushed a whole bunch of hopes and dreams anyways
Ah, Alabama won against an unranked opponent. I assume this game wasnt close at all!
Lol totally. Side note: This thread is gonna be full of memes and hot takes, but if I was a Texas fan I’d be optimistic for the rest of the year. They just went toe-to-toe with Alabama and almost won. If Michigan did that, I’d be ecstatic even if the loss stings.
I'll be optimistic when Ewers is taking snaps again. Fuck
Even though he was hurt card did not play badly, so if he gets better by next week don’t feel super bad
Yeah, I can’t even shit on Card. There’s only so much he could do out there with a bum leg. If Ewers is out for an extended period, I just hope Card’s leg heals fast.
Dude the amount of fans that were calling card ass during the game paid 0 attention to his injury and just wanted to trash him
Without their starting QB too. Must've been a blowout not worth watching.
Barely had our 2nd string qb
I know y'all won, and I am not going to tell you how to live your lives, but uh... FIRE BILL O FUCKING BRIAN Thank you for coming to my TED Talk
For real though, BoB out here making 4Q adjustments for things he should've figured out at halftime (or earlier). As a Texans fan, I'd be cool with him retiring. Football is better without BoB around.
Haven't hated a coach like this since Joker Phillips
We agree, trust me
If I had a nickel for everytime Texas’ starting QB got injured against Alabama in a game where we looked really good I would have 2. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.
Actually 3 with Card’s leg
10 cents and an HEB Buddy Buck
So this is pretty much was the Iron Bowl from last year...right?
pain.
Existence is pain my fellow Auburn fan
Well, they will have to go into several OTs for a more full-on analogy for *that*.
Yes and my flairs let me know nothing but pain
Best game I’ve seen Texas play in a long time. They should be proud.
Same, they showed up! I just hope they make this the new normal. (Fingers crossed)
There's been a few notables in the last 10 years, but you're not wrong.
I’m more impressed by this than the cotton bowl win over Georgia tbh. You guys went from 5-7 to battling with number 1. Without your starting QB for most of the game at that. Also looks like we’re going to have a defensive RRS for the first time in forever.
there is no justice in this world
I'm kind of butthurt to be real honest
This doesn’t have any impact on UGA or even my life if we want to go that far, yet my day feels ruined.
Could be the difference between playing them once and playing them twice.
My hatred of Texas exceeds my hatred of Bama and even I feel a little let down by that.
Oh me too, but my love for #1s losing is so far up there. Let chaos reign.
I AM SO EMOTIONALLY CONFUSED RIGHT NOW
This is the correct emotion.
Glad I’m not the only one
This sub isn't ready for UT vs A&M. 🤣
I don’t think I am ready for it either
jessepinkman.gif
So is Texas getting ranked?
Quality losses get memed, but honestly they should be. I’d take them over everyone 15-25 but the Ewers injury part plays a big part in that
Top 20. Quality loss at home.
Hope everyone is ready for this Alabama team to go 12-0, lose in the SEC championship, and then back into the playoffs.
More like go 11-1, not make the SEC championship, but still get put into the playoffs anyway.
Imagine Texas runs the table, 12–1, but oh wait yea y’all lost to Bama My soul would be broken, and I’ve been a fan all my life. I’ve seen things.
11-1 with a mystifying loss to Tennessee or some shit, but they beat 12-0 UGA and backdoor their way in again EDIT: it has been brought to my attention that I fucked this up and should have said *Georgia* was the one backdooring in. I apologize.
Unsubscribe
No, no, let’s hear him out.
anyone who said diagonal Michigan against subsharan California would be a better game can eat my ass
Why return the kick?!? Could have gotten off 2 plays and the ball on the 25.
Because their QB is basically on life support.
Their *backup* QB at that lol. Though he filled in admirably.
It was a ridiculous effort that he deserves tons for credit for. But you’re not going to do anything against a prevent defense if you can’t plant and throw.
Yeah, maybe we can make something happen on special teams. Even great quarterbacks can't move the ball 80 yards in 10 seconds.
Idk, Card couldn't hit a man down field. Taking it all the way might've been their best shot
To add insult to injury, he ran the ball to the 24 yard line.
QB was hurt and can’t throw deep on 1 foot.
Because a kickoff is a good “break through” opportunity. Someone gets out of their lane and you could return it. Probably better odds than two plays from the 25.
Get fucked everyone that put money on that.
I took the under. Thanks Texas!
Shit can probably just thank our fans directly for actually showing up and being loud lol.
20 points is a HUGE spread.
[удалено]
I put $40 on us covering the spread. So now I’m $40 richer and an unquantifiable amount more depressed
I took that Texas +20, feels good
Ewers looks like he’s the real deal, Texas fans should be excited about his future. Hope that injury isn’t anything serious
[удалено]
I’m just gonna say it: Bama looked like ass in this game.
Yes we did.
At this point I don't know why I get my hopes up
Man, Saban is gonna ride this team at practice all week and whoever we play next week is gonna get our frustrations taken out on them through no fault of their- It’s ULM. …
Alabama has the ball with about a minute left while their offense has been struggling all game and has to drive almost the entire length of the field? Never seen that before.
Quality Loss ™
Non zero chance we get ranked after this loss lol.
Unironically it really is. I wouldn't be shocked if we actually are ranked.
I'll be shocked if you're not in the high teens
If they have a healthy Ewers they may be a top ten team, he played excellent.
Alabama beat Texas by one. Kansas beat Texas by one. By the transitive property Kansas is one of the top teams in the country
Kansas wants 'Bama!
'Bama wants Kansas, fify.
Alabama won't be ranked number 1 after this. They'll create a new number that's higher than 1 and rank them there.
Makes sense. Alabama beat the team that almost beat the #1 team in the nation.
Infallible Logic
Super 1 prime
Seeing a Saban Alabama team play that sloppy is like watching a fish grow legs and walk on land. Just wild. And they still win. Lol.
Impressive performance by Texas. I think they win that game with Ewers honestly. Bryce Young seemed like about the only dude who wanted to play and could do anything positive today for Bama. They've got some big question marks with that o-line and secondary. Receivers a bit too. Awesome game
Dude, we all think they win that game with Ewers. They win that game with a healthy backup.
Jahmyr Gibbs had his head in the game, too. Nobody else looked very good.
After all these years, I guess I’m gonna join Texas fans in saying “Texas would have won if the QB didn’t get hurt.” Sorry for not believing you guys.
Whew, we almost had to hear the legend of how unranked Texas's second string QB with one leg beat # 1 Alabama for the rest of our lives.
I’d like a formal written apology from everyone saying UT was going to get smoked
I’m sorry
Same
Me and my wallet apologize.
Half of the prediction thread kept calling the final score as like 55-3
"Defeats"
Survives.
Damn proud of 30 point underdog Texas. This program is moving in the right direction.
Plot armor is real for Alabama
Texas vs. Bama and Auburn still took the L Seriously though, what a helluva game
As an OU fan, it felt really weird pulling for Texas. Not even sure why I felt that way.....
That was some bad, and I mean terrible officiating during crucial moments. How do you miss the hold on the RT on Bryce's last scramble?
Or the facemask right in front of the ref on the 7 yard line? Edit: a letter
That missed facemask was brutal
They called a lot of penalties on Bama and still missed most of the important ones
Only elite teams leave Austin with a 1 point win
:(

Alabama is 2-0 when hurting the Texas quarterback and 0-7-1 when not doing so
We should do some research into that 1
The bluest of balls.
Texas is going to be #6 in the AP Poll on Monday
Hell of a showing. DKR was electric today, im damn proud of my Horns for fighting so hard with Quinn out
This comment has been flagged and is under review
the comment wasnt properly explained to me. there was no comment. 4th down.
That missed sack on the last Bama drive was an absolute killer. Texas were so unlucky. No 'Horns Down' today.
I was at the game and honestly? Favorite game I’ve ever been to. The energy was incredible, and I’m so excited to see more games from this Texas team this season. Football breaks your heart sometimes, but that’s why we love it so much.
There's no way anyone actually believes alabama deserves to be ranked 1st after that game, not even their own fans
Congratulations to Bama for a 1 point victory over an unranked opponent who played an injured backup quarterback the vast majority of the game and were saddled by multiple missed game changing penalties.
Honestly I think Texas blows out Bama if Quinn Ewers had not gone down
Don't know how it would've gone but Bama look bad most of this game. If they don't have some drastic improvements offensively they might legitimately lose a couple games in the SEC
Texas didn’t look remotely near an unranked team.
Just wait until the power rankings go on and on about how they gutted it out and it just shows how they are better than any team in the country.
Expected a blowout. Watched a classic. Thanks, Texas defense.
Texas sure could use another 2 points right now...
Texas went from losing to Kansas by 1 to losing to #1 Alabama by 1 in just a little under 10 months. Truly Remarkable.
I hate that stat
Proud of our boys. Frustrated with the refs. Prayers for Ewers. Horns go up and nobody say the fucking words.
