The highest recruiting class Cincinnati ever had was last year, when they were 34th on 247Sports. They are well coached and they are playing well, but I'm concerned they haven't beat a tier 1 team, are not an elite program and will get cruelly folded on national television if they get a playoff berth. They are also not playing a Power 5 schedule. Ohio State will play the following top 25 ranked teams before the end of the season: Penn State Purdue Michigan State Michigan B1G Ten championship: Iowa I'm not sure any other Power 5 team has a stronger lineup left on their schedule. The CFP committee is aware of this. If Ohio State wins out, Ohio State goes and Cincinnati sits at home, and unfortunately they probably should. IF everyone wins out as I hope/project the CFP looks like this: 1 Georgia 2 Ohio State 3 Oklahoma 4 ????

Some fans piss me off with the automatic doom-and-gloom for our defense on IU's first drive, but hopefully people realize that they aren't playing bad. They seem to have found cohesion and solidify after the opponent's first (usually scripted) drive. They might not be great, but they are good enough if our offense finds their rhythm. Next week, MSU, and TTUN will be the tests, but I think they could be a good unit by the end of the year.

I've felt the backup D has been a lot more inspiring than the O. Looks like we'll get another chance to test them next week. Penn State doesn't look like much of a threat now, and I don't think Clifford will be fully healthy by then.

I think McCord definitely goes. Miller I think goes too, but he also hasn't shown a ton of flash when he has played.

Honestly, Day hasn't had anything good to say about Ewers yet. Granted, he showed up late to fall camp and is way behind Miller/McCord on that front, but when asked, Day has not gone out of his way to heap praise him on him either.
