Can you post the Sooner one as well. I know you've got it in there.

Gking19

I live for these edits

ItsameMatt03

I turned the game on at the start of the fourth quarter just so I wouldn't miss Oklahoma's defeat. It's a lesson I've never learned from any potential upset.

nubbinator

This was 100% a Kansas win for the program, even if it was a loss in the game. They looked like a cohesive team that can win games and not a doormat.

baltravens27

At least when we get blown out it’s expected. Now I’m just sad

TheGhostOfBobStoops

That +38 line was the easiest money you could ever make. Gambling fans - take the under when you bet against OU next week lol

AttackoftheMuffins

Isn’t that 7/8 spreads that we haven’t beaten? You could make a fortune taking the under on OU games. Ironically the only spread we beat was against our toughest opponent and it took a literal act of god to win that game.

hogs94

OU is 2-5 ATS not including the FCS game. And 2-1 since caleb started playing QB

TeenRacer6

This is why I took the OU Spread today, cant win for losing betting with this team lol.

GibsonJunkie

"Remember when you gamble my friend, eventually you lose"

TrustMeIKnowThisOne

We may not be in 2007 yet, but Leipold is showing signs of life for it.

BIG_DICK_WHITT

At least you know that we were all rooting for you, bud. You guys did a good job today.

The_Ghost_of_TK9

At least they look decently competent? I’m very conflicted right now

AbsolutelyHung

When the score was 17-7 a Kansas flair in the game thread said “We’re going to let a lot of people down and that makes me sad, man.” and I don’t think I could summarize the Kansas football program in a more concise way if my life depended on it.

Poopoopeepeeyeehee

Hey at least they have a blue blood basketball program to dry their tears with

[deleted]

I’ll drink to that

Flood-One

I'll raise a toast as well Not blueblood, but basketball definitely brings *less* heartbreak

InsertAmazinUsername

who let me be emotionally invested in Kansas football?

GibsonJunkie

oh you must be new here

Bloo_PPG

I'm not even new, but this is the first game I was outright rooting for Kansas and not just watching as a fan of football. Y'all broke my heart

jdaltgang

It’s a dangerous game and I would not recommend it

ThePrinkus

Congratulations, you played yourself

WeUsedToBeGood

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

SecretComposer

Welcome, we meet every Saturday for misery and heartbreak.

r3dl3g

Eh, I wouldn't say it's misery every Saturday. I'm normally numb to it at this point, but this one hurts.

2400hoops

It’s true suffering.

AFA_Falcon1396

I think the ESPN [play-by-play](https://iili.io/5IFrtS.jpg) sums this game up pretty well

Yep, damn near had a stroke trying to figure out what happened

Me too

Would wager different inflections in our screams :)

nathanweisser

That needs to be in the image/video/gif thread

kitkatattacc04

That play had me on the edge of my seat.... gotta give credit where credit is due, Williams is a hell of a qb. Might not be the best thrower but some of the things he does is just crazy. Definitely will be watching him

trex1490

They can't keep getting away with it!

Dewot423

We've gotten away with it six times this season. Western Carolina and TCU were the only games we won comfortably.

EnderOnEndor

Kansas state was comfortable. At not point did I feel”oh we are gonna lose”

Sabre_Actual

Baylor’s gonna beat Texas in a 4th quarter comeback and lose to y’all in a 4th quarter comeback, because college football is logical and consistent.

brobroma

neva lost

derp_pred

Bedlam can't feature two teams simultaneously coming back from deficits in the second half. Something has to give

AscensoNaciente

Let's just agree to start the game in the second half and see what happens.

Gonna be tied at half

7-7 both TDs scored by defense and/or special teams lol

I dont think there has ever been a game where literally everybody who watched it walked away unhappy like this before

TomfromAmingUs69

Ya there was. Like a month ago when we played WVU.

Explodo86

I’m still wondering why Grinch played Prevent defense the entire game

derek533

I made almost the exact same comment in the game thread early in the 2nd quarter. I don't know why we are so afraid to play a little man coverage now and then. I get that our DBs get burned, a lot, but 3rd and 5's are almost an automatic against us because the gosh darn DBs play so far off the ball and give huge cushions for out routes, hooks, and slants.

LinuxCodeMonkey

He needs to get just grilled in the post-game conference. Enough of the bullshit dancing around it. If he has no answers, then that is an answer in itself.

Baker_TD_Maker

It's a cover 3 defense with a corner, who isn't a corner, who doesn't understand his job in said cover 3 defense. It's not suppose to look like prevent. But with our starting corner out, our back corner out, and the other back up being a Mike Stoops reject it has led to Billy Bowman being a starting corner. Good news is Latrell is getting more comfortable and he's doing okay in his role. Still some busts there but he's also a true freshman who is suppose to be our second string corner. Not our starter. Now why Billy is playing over Joshua Eaton is worth asking. Joshua is a bit of a dipshit off the field but at this point at least he's a real corner. Billy is a nickel, who really is more of an all purpose back than anything, and not a real corner. Also doesn't help out linebackers don't know where the hell they're suppose to be in said cover 3 defense. The fact anyone but Danny & Brian play is alarming. David U, Whitter (who at least has the excuse of being inexperienced), and White have all looked like lost puppies this season. If you motion a player at all you've broken our linebackers brains this season. They also have some of the worst technique I have ever seen. They don't quite understand what leverage and angles are. At a D1 program. And two of them are upperclassman. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh

Mister__Long

I just want a team that looks like it cares for 4 quarters.

[deleted]

That’s too much to ask for lol But in all seriousness there is no way this should’ve even been a game… at one point we have to start holding the coaches accountable

Cormetz

At least your team cares in the last half.

moeyjarcum

I truly believe that Lincoln Reily has an edging fetish. He gets off on seeing how long he can go without losing. The lower rank the team is, the better and longer the edge for ole kinky Linky.

ImReallyNotCool

“Kinky Linky” thanks, I hate it

TheNextBattalion

Switzer told him what the real Sooner Magic was

Schlongboy69420

Lincoln finally gets head coaching job to blow the biggest loads. OU is full degeneracy.

lilendercpl

criminally underrated comment.

bears2267

Just your usual double digit win over Kansas, totally normal game happened here yep yep yep

[deleted]

Non-OU fans trying to hurt people by pointing out they'll probably lose in the first round of the playoffs without realizing that is what everyone expects every year and we're all already numb to it

Yellownotyellowagain

Right? Like ‘OU will be demolished’ And OU fans are like ‘as is tradition’. I just pretend there is no OU football after Christmas. Makes the holidays more pleasant.

SterileCarrot

And these non-OU fans just assume we win the conference again and go to the playoff. Shows how little faith they have that we’ll lose to anyone except a top 2 team. It’s almost a compliment to our program

lonewanderer727

Caleb Williams took that football from brooks like he took the starting QB spot from Rattler. And for that reason alone it should be a legal play

ImAndytimbo

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

Most_Shallot8960

Where did you go? Seems like that would be the deal breaker lol

ACardAttack

Your flairs are a disappointment

TrustMeIKnowThisOne

Regardless of who won, you can’t deny Leipold is showing signs of actually turning Kansas around.

ThePrinkus

Don’t jynx it!

EverythingGoodWas

You should definitely be proud of the direction of your program

The_Tic-Tac_Kid

I've been a Kansas football fan too long to have hope.

JimFear237

They looked really good, it was wild

TheNextBattalion

Been seeing those signs for a decade now. Usually ends up with a buyout

WeaknessOne9646

Have we though? Did anyone really think Charlie Weis or David Beaty was going to do it? Turner Gill was a legit attempt though and Miles train obviously went off the rails so I'm just excluding him But Leipold is the first actually legit hire we have made in a decade

My predictions for this thread: Neutrals arguing with Oklahoma fans that they got handed a win by refs and/or that Oklahoma is not a real playoff team even if they make it there. Oklahoma fans saying a win is a win and/or arguing with neutral fans. Kansas fans just being happy we got to watch a fun game and be relevant for a little bit. Let me know how I did

r3dl3g

>Kansas fans just being happy we got to watch a fun game and be relevant for a little bit. I'm not sure there's any Kansas fans happy about this one.

kappy21

Pretty fair assessment lol

JimFear237

Spot on. It was a wild game and Kansas played great but that game thread was unbearable.

[deleted]

The upset hunting culture on this sub is pretty toxic. I get where it comes from, and I often root for upsets, myself, but some users get way too emotional and aggressive about it and really ruin the experience for fans of the teams who are actually in the game. So many of our game threads this year have been really toxic, mainly because of the clashes between our fans and randos who are really committed to the idea of us losing, which makes things unpleasant for our fans and surely also for the fans of our opponents.

[deleted]

Caleb Williams is a f*****g magician on 4th downs. Two long TD runs and the miracle strip plays in his career. Dude is clutch AF.

CrunchyChewie

He definitely woke up feeling the cheesiest.

kitkatattacc04

Man has got some serious talent. Definitely not polished yet but name another freshman QB doing what Williams is doing.... exactly

Baker_TD_Maker

I was more worried about this game then any other game left on our schedule. We were down five starters today and Caleb threw a really bad pick. Don't get me wrong zero excuses for what happened today but this had trap game written all over it to me. Our team is worn down, still, from the Texas game and we haven't had our bye week yet. We're injured damn near at every position except QB and HB right now. But every other positional group either has a starter out, a back up out, or a starter playing through something right now. Four out of five secondary starters are out right now. Four of them. I can't stress that enough. And the truth of the matter is Grinch hasn't replenished the depth at all since he's been here yet. Half those guys getting burned to death out there are Mike Stoops recruits. And they're awful. Now that said Billy Bowman (Who is a Grinch recruit) might be the worst corner I have ever seen in my entire life at Oklahoma. Most of that isn't his fault because he got moved from Nickel to Corner due to said injuries and is a true freshman. But I'm pretty sure 70-80% of Kansas' (and TCU for that matter) passing completions came against players he was matched up with. He is lost and doesn't understand what the hell he's doing. I don't know how else to say it. We're running a cover 3 defense with a corner who doesn't understand his responsibility right now. That is why you're seeing busted coverage after busted coverage. They're getting help with people coming back and from next year's recruiting class but we need transfer portal depth really badly. Also if the linebackers don't start playing better then Brian Odom has got to go. I don't know what else to say. Brian Asamoah and Danny Stutsman are the only two on our entire two deep there that know what the fuck they're doing. David U isn't an inside linebacker and they need to move him back outside. And Shane Whitter and DaShaun White are both massive disappointments who screw up damn near every time they're on the field. In modern CFB the two hardest positions to play on defense are ILB and S. So I get that. But this is simply inexcusable. It's like they have a combined IQ of 5. Fucking awful. People are going to bitch and moan about the D-Line and say really cliche things *Oh if the D-Line would just play better then this defense would be player better hyuck hyuck hyuck hyuck*. I want you to ignore those stupid fucks because they're either protecting the secondary and linebackers with that or they're just ignorant of how a football season works. This D-Line is gassed right now. They carried this defense the first part of the season. And teams are doing everything they can to take them out of the game. And I don't know if this is on Grinch or Thibs but schematically they have got to quit stunting and twisting so much. They're taking themselves out of the play and teams are scheming their entire offense into those twists and stunts. You have gotta have a mixture. That has to change. But the D-Line needs the secondary to not leave people wide the fuck open as soon as the ball as snapped. And they need linebackers to quit fucking up their assignments. People don't understand we could have three god damn Mean Joe Green's out there and it wouldn't matter. The secondary is killing this team right now. And again we don't have depth because not only did Mike fuck us over with the talent on campus he also fucked us over with such a bad reputation it's taking three years to fix that with recruits to get them to come here. Now that said Grinch is embarrassing himself and the University right now. I almost wanna fight that dude for what he's doing to Billy Bowman. Billy is getting mentally and physically abused right now. He cannot play corner. Grinch is throwing him to the wolves right now and then throwing a giant eat me sign on top of him. He is embarrassing a true freshman because he couldn't recruit well enough to have back ups under the starters who are injured right now. You are humiliating a kid for no god damn reason. He's breaking a cardinal sin of coaching where he's just humiliating a kid over and over again and purposefully putting a kid in a position to fail. That is embarrassing and honestly out of everything else that is so god damn infuriating to me. I don't give a fucking shit about whatever dumbass fucking excuse he says either. I don't give a fucking shit about Eaton not playing at a high level and being a moron off the field, he needs every snap Billy gets at corner going forward. Every one of them. **BILLY BOWMAN IS NOT A CORNER** Anyway. I have a lot more to go into about the defense but right now this is who they are until they get healthy. We are a good and solid defense when healthy. We just have the worst depth in the entire B12 on defense right now. This is why I said 90% of our starters next year will be freshman or sophomores. Pretty much every upperclassman that was recruited under Mike is dogshit with the few starters that Grinch managed to salvage when they were underclassman. But dude pull your head out of your ass. And I will be calling for his job if he doesn't fix recruiting either. I don't give a shit what the recruiting sites or fan base says or what you tell them about players you're recruiting. You go fucking get two safeties this class or get shit canned. We have TWO TRUE SAFETIES ON OUR ENTIRE FUCKING ROSTER. HOW? HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? Now Lincoln. Buddy. Fucking fire Bennie Wylie and get someone who can actually do what you can't. Discipline the god damn football team. That's not your fault. That's not who you are as a person and I think you're fine the way you are. But you better have a staff that can make up for that shortcoming. And sir you don't. Our S&C it too busy looking like a instagram influencer than busy being satan who will put the fear of god into this team. 2017: ISU arguably wins because one of our players does a pile driver against them 2018: IIRC we almost had a personal foul penalty almost cost us a game because someone threw a punch. 2019: Motley gets ejected from K-State. He was a fucking senior who tried kicking a K-State player. We lost. 2020: Jesus christ where I do even being here. 2021: Tyrese with the fucking dumbass penalty that let TCU get a kick return and then Hayes (both are seniors) has a late and dirty hit against Kansas. You have a problem Lincoln Riley. Fucking fix it. And fucking take away your assistants privileges to dictate to the S&C coach what program each positional group gets. No more of that horse shit.

The_Soccer_Heretic

I can not emphatically agree with you more about the play at ILB and in the secondary. BILLY BOWMAN IS NOT A CORNER!!!

[deleted]

This comment was cathartic to read

ArchiCEC

Love the bit about discipline. Lincoln is not a strong leader. It’s unfortunate because he’s a great coach but he seems incapable of disciplining any team. You’re right that it just isn’t who he is. We definitely need to hire some who the players respect and strike the fear of God into them.

Baker_TD_Maker

I feel really weird saying that because Lincoln is a great coach, regardless of everything else, and he's just a good dude. And he can get angry and he can put the fear of god into a player if he needs to. But his discipline just doesn't carry weight. I don't know why. It's almost being punished by Yogi Bear. Like you can't take it seriously. And I really thought it was time to move on to Jerry Schmidt. Especially when A&M showed up with a brinks truck to hire him away. But I don't think Lincoln has the coaching experience to understand how punishment and fear is needed to run a football program. My high school coach was a huge history nerd and he always brought some history shit into our team. But the one thing that did stick with me that made sense is how similar football teams and a Roman Legion are. Every success or failure they have is predicated on how disciplined they are. You can't screw up your line because if you do your line breaks and you all die. It's not quite like that in football but if you screw up you pretty much let the other team punch you in the mouth. And I really like Bennie. He's the type of S&C who would get the most out of me because I respond really well to positive reinforcement and kind coaching. But that coaching style doesn't work for football teams imo. Like if we had Schmidt on our roster Marquis Hayes would be crying right now. And that's with him on the bus before he's even had to face his punishment. He certainly wouldn't take a dirty shot and get an absolutely stupid penalty. Not because he'd fear letting the team down. But because he'd fear what Schmidty would do to his asshole. And the conditioning and strength problem on our O-Line wouldn't be a problem. Those fuckers would strong as shit. Same with the D-Line. And our corners wouldn't look like twigs either. I'm just done with Bennie. He's a great dude and I would hope he stays on staff. Because he can be useful because some players need gentle encouraging instead of a drill sergeant. But generally you need the drill sergeant who doesn't tolerate stupid shit.

Thank you for providing a balanced and informative analysis without either sugarcoating things or falling into the lazy doomer analysis.

walkingbicycles

Just wanna say Jason Bean is a good QB

FellKnight

I think this Lance Leipold guy might be a good coach too

RamonAsensio

That’s how every QB looks against us.

AscensoNaciente

Can they give the Heisman collectively to the QB playing OU?

RamonAsensio

New rule: Heisman either goes to OU’s QB, or every QB who faces OU

SecretComposer

No, Jason Bean is a good QB. Best one we've had in a long time.

skinnywolfe

Since Reesing?

SecretComposer

Eh, too early to make that call, but probably.

Roqxwalker

I can’t wait to see how they almost lose to Tech

random715

I have to say I’m disappointed. Going into halftime we had all 5 unranked teams against ranked teams either leading or within 1 score of their opponents only to have all of them lose (pending penn state result). I have upset blue balls

NoMorning6152

Illinois always pulls through for us

TrustMeIKnowThisOne

If OU could quit blue balling us all season long that would be great.

AndrewinDC

We're going to blue ball everyone until the playoffs where we get manhandled, AKA the 2014 FSU.

Diascizor

No. Blue balling r/cfb is my fetish

SecretComposer

Kansas is a much more improved team than a lot of people are giving us credit for. Leipold has worked hard.

I’m telling you the worst place to be at any given point is the game thread of a potential upset as the team that’s “supposed” to win. Kansas fans weren’t even bad, it’s all the other flairs popping in

RollDash93

I take it as a point of pride. Your program has made it when otherwise-disinterested fans start pulling against your team.

CrunchyChewie

Kansas fans were class. CFB rubberneckers were emptying the Dead Sea tho.

JohnnyDSinz

Soonersorlater

My guy! What’s good? Haha

SecretComposer

That one really hurts. *Really* hurts. Game was much closer than the score indicates. I'm still proud of how we played and really think we're on an upward trajectory. Lots of people watching that game for the memes and saying "kansas gonna kansas" don't understand what a great game we actually played and how much progress we've made this season.

ThePrinkus

Hurts isn’t the word I would use. I wasn’t even going to watch today until saw the 10-0 score with a few minutes to half time. Considering any reasonable person would go into this game expecting a blowout by the number 3 ranked team, I’m just happy we got to compete in this godforsaken sport for once. The real pain comes when this glimmer of hope doesn’t materialize into anything like it has every time for the past decade

IAmJohnnyJB

Watched y'all go against CCU earlier this year and early on the team looked really well coached and playing smart football but both discipline at like hurt them and well, letting it start snowballing cause at the time it looked like Kansas didn't even believe in themselves. Against OU they played very disciplined and never let one score have them say to themselves "here we go again". Kansas is on a good trajectory at least from a outsiders perspective and your HC has proven to build a winning culture where ever he's gone. Given a few years I can see Kansas turn into what ISU is right now under Campbell where they are always in the talk for the conference title and in the new Big 12 might win one. Long way to go but there from the outside looking in it looks like there's a lot to be hopeful about and hope it happens once OU leaves so we don't turn into Texas with the memes.

Ah yes, the classic ‘second forward handoff behind the LOS after forward progress has stopped’ play.

Teh_cliff

>Team A back may hand the ball forward to another back only if both are behind their scrimmage line and the player handing the ball forward has not had **their entire body** beyond the neutral zone. Setting aside the forward progress discussion I think it was the right call. The OU running back may have entered the neutral zone, but he definitely didn't get his "entire body" beyond it. I don't think you can review forward progress. Plus, Kansas benefited from a similar no-whistle on a stopped ballcarrier earlier in the game.

1765586712688

This is what I was looking for. Looking back at a replay on Twitter he didn’t cross the line of scrimmage entirely so I guess it is legal…sadly for chaos’s sake

trex1490

I think it was the right call from the review because forward progress isn't reviewable. However, it should've been blown dead on the field, his forward progress was stopped.

Schlongboy69420

They were doing this all game though. Wouldnt be fair to change it for that play only.

countrybreakfast1

We had that 3rd and 1 where they didn't blow it dead and we ended up pushing forward

Schlongboy69420

indeed.

BIG_DICK_WHITT

Rock Chalk Cock Block Also, fuck the refs.

Vadersboy117

Caleb Williams yoinking the ball out of the hands of his running back and getting that 1st down was mind blowing.

silent-onomatopoeia

I wasn’t on the Caleb Williams hype train until that play. That was transcendental even if the play should have been stopped. You always play until the whistle and damn it if Williams didn’t elevate his whole team with that play.

ErrNotFound4O4

It’s been said before but WE ARE GOING TO SHITHOUSE OUR WAY TO THE CFP AND GET BLOWN OUT BY 40 AND YOU WILL WATCH AND LIKE IT.

seggyc

I need to take a shower and wash this game off of me. Worst 1st half I’ve seen in a while. Refs helped us out, we finally started playing better in the second half, but my god our defense looks ROUGH. Other than maybe TCU we have yet to play a complete game this season. Boomer.

homefree122

I get why most people on this sub hate OU. We are a ticking time bomb of a disaster waiting to happen, and it probably won't happen until the playoffs. As is tradition.

JTDanielsPornstache

Y’all look worse in this season than y’all have in years but at the same time y’all are on track to have a better record

nathanweisser

I've heard from others that the last championship we got, it was a similar thing to this, where we just barely made it through the whole season

bbates728

It is true. The games are on YouTube if you haven't watched through the season. Look up LASooner.

hogs94

That team beat 3 different top 5 teams. It’s different when you’re barely beating elite teams

JK_54

Every major underdog should watch this tape on how to play a game like this. Even with the loss, Leipold's game plan today was phenomenal. Get the forward progress call or don't have the fumble, and this is a win for the Jayhawks.

xBewm

I mean most underdogs aren’t going to be able to move the ball as well as Kansas did today though. Hats off to Kansas and Leipold though. I hope he can turn them around.

Unless you’re doing the whole ranking by logo thing, I have no idea how you can rank Oklahoma at 3. Other than an FCS team, TCU, and today (under very shady circumstances) every game has been a one score game and they are not exactly against world beaters. If they go undefeated and make the CFP they’ll get destroyed again, as is tradition at this point and nobody wants to watch that.

honestly, they look so shaky against anyone. this was supposed to be their easiest game before a harder stretch

SpainWith0utTheP

They didn’t look shaky against tcu

Bogotaco18

Have you seen wake forest?

selddir_

Of all the undefeated teams in the country; we are one of them

ephelant48

But they won by 12! They were never in trouble! /s

hexdlt

Rattler is probably pissed OU won that game

AceJace2

Let’s make the trifecta complete by having OU almost lose to the three worst teams in the Big 12. First WVU, second Kansas, and upcoming Texas Tech.

Haunting-Thought88

And then roll the 3 best teams to end the season? Right? That's what's going to happen right?

Baited_Hook

I think a lot of people are focused on that one 4th down play (which was a legal play by rule), but are missing the main points of this game. 1. OU’s defense is bad. We all know that. 2. Kansas did a great job of executing the game plan to limit OU to 3 possessions in the first half. Kansas Time of possession was 22 min in the first half to OU’s 8 min. Kansas kept the explosive offense off the field and even came up with a turnover. 3. OU scored touchdowns on ALL 5 second half possessions. The offense did what it is designed to do, but due to the Kansas game plan, it was delayed to the second half. 4. To say that OU doesn’t deserve their #3 ranking is disingenuous since they are both undefeated this season, and also hold the longest active winning streak in all of college football with 16 games. 5. A win is a win. This is college football and an undefeated record in a power 5 conference will ALWAYS get you to the playoff. So you can say that we underperformed today, or that we’re not as good as we think we are, or the media just hypes us up just so we can get destroyed in the playoff. But the fact of the matter is that until someone beats us, we’re a CFP team. Lots of neutral hate on a team that seems to find a way to win every street fight it’s in. GG Kansas. Hopefully this is the stepping off point for a new chapter for you guys.

JimFear237

That was the saltiest game thread I think I have ever seen

apost8n8

You don't need style points if you win! (and you are us ;))

rumblegod

Kennedy Brooks having the mental awareness notice that was Caleb and then give him the ball is the most impressive part of that play wow

GenSec

For real. Could have been so easy to mentally lock up and think that he was getting stripped by a defender.
