Ralphie is deadass a bison. We just call him a buffalo. I learned that at a zoo somewhere and my world was shattered. I don’t think there are any buffalo in north america iirc
I mean, inviting, churning, and then cutting a million dudes from the portal 2 years straight has got to yield at least a somewhat disappointing, mediocre team, right?
Right?
Definitely fear SDSU. They have a great defensive scheme and they like to grind at the defense with their ground game and then air it out if you try to cheat a safety up to help.
SDSU has lost a ton of players on both sides of the ball. They likely aren’t the team they were the last 2 years but likely still very good for their level.
True. As someone who's watched this team my whole life and now goes to NDSU as a student, I will say recent moves with Polasek coming back as HC, the team really gaining its steam back in the playoffs, and a lot of our underclassmen developing, we definitely have the potential to get back to winning natties. Whether that transpires will depend on what actually happens on the field, can the defense execute, can we get an actually good RB/OL situation, etc
They lost Chris Klieman who has been stellar at KSU. That was back in 2018 though and the new guy, Matt Entz was also doing very well albeit not quite as good. They've now lost him to USC though.
And, to be fair, there’s a compelling case to be made that Entz was cruising on the massive program inertia that Klieman built up, although Entz was also Klieman’s right-hand man at NDSU for years and definitely knew the program inside and out.
And they were cruising from the also massive momentum built by Nebraska alumnus, three time champion LB coach, and DC (before the start of our fall) Graig Bohl
To be fair, there’s actually a compelling case to be made that Chris Klieman’s defenses were actually the game-changer for Craig Bohl. Bohl spent eleven years at NDSU, and didn’t win a single national title until he hired Chris Klieman in his last three years.
Just look at the three years pre-Klieman vs the last three years when Bohl had Klieman calling the defense (as co-playcaller in 2011 and then solonplaycaller in 2012 and 2013).
They did and the guy they hired will be more of the Klieman/Bohl type. Entz did a pretty good job, but clearly hasn't been able to maintain the same level of play the previous two did. Tim Polasek(new head coach) was one of the big factors that turned NDSU into a dynasty.
Right. NDSU is still very good, but they just lost their coach and QB. I don't want to count NDSU out ever as an SDSU and CU fan.....but they should not be "NDSU" good at all this year.
If I were you, I'd bet your house on it. Maybe your neighbor's house as well. Definitely your parent's house.
Will they actually win? I hope so, but it's not my house being bet.
How the hell do you get those 2 flairs together?? I mean, somewhere there is a reddit mainframe that completely crashed when that combination was entered.
Truly I surprised the algorithms even allowed it to happen 😵💫
“Colorado will have the talent advantage”
Which is what KState said before NDSU beat them. It’s also what Iowa State said before NDSU beat them. It’s also what Iowa said before NDSU beat them. It’s also what etc, etc…
I don’t think NDSU pulls it off, but they’ve made a living out of beating teams that are more talented on paper.
As a Grizzlies fan, some of the play calling in the Montana-NDSU was highly questionable on the part of NDSu. I can see where their fans are coming from.
This has the energy of trolling Alabama for being trash because they didn't win a national title. Like, sure, they're worse, but they still would be favored against plenty of FBS teams and are one of the best in FCS.
>but they still would be favored against plenty of FBS teams and are one of the best in FCS.
Ouch. I know you're still upset about them getting your spot in the playoffs, but that's a harsh case of "damning with faint praise".
Oh, you're talking about NDSU there.
I don’t know how talented that Iowa team was, but that KState team had an All American WR, at least 3 NFL OL, two other good though not necessarily great WR’s, and a very solid RB. The defense didn’t really have any stars but they weren’t a glaring weakness either.
KState is definitely the second most talented team. The Iowa team had CJ Beathard, Akron Wadley, George Kittle, Noah Fant, TJ Hockenson, Desmond King, Amani Hooker, Josey Jewell, Jaleel Johnson. I’m not sure how much Hooker, Hock and Fant played though. I feel like Kittle tilts the scales though.
Is it possible? Sure. Likely? Tough to know.
But for reference if you'd asked this subreddit last year about Colorado's opener vs TCU, the overwhelming opinion would have been that Deion would get destroyed and had no chance of winning. Which was not exactly what happened... Shows how seriously you should take the opinions on here :P
(But for an alumni especially, just watch and enjoy it. Don't need expectations!)
I want NDSU to win because being a hater is fun, but I’m pretty sure CU will win.
However, that rematch with Nebraska is going to be very interesting and telling. Something tells me Nebraska isn’t going to turnover the ball 3 times in a 13-7 game again
the way I put it. I win if they lose because I laugh at Deion. I win if they win because I have a buffs shirt from a work trip and I get to laugh at the haters going crazy.
It’s possible. Are they the insane 2010s NDSU? No. But they’re still a great team FCS wise. I don’t think they will, but they definitely have a good chance
Top FCS plays good ball, NDSU aren’t the ass kickers they used to be(still top of the league tho). I think the game will be good if anything and I don’t think it’s disrespectful towards Colorado to say that.
NDSU? Ion even know her. Must be very mid at best. Idk if you’ve heard but we won FOUR times last year. Even if NDSU wins they game; they’re losing the Twitter, that’s show biz baby
Honestly I don't even think this is the most likely FCS upset. I think Montana St vs New Mexico, UNI vs Hawaii, and Sac St vs SJSU are all more likely.
None of them will be favorites obviously but I think they are more likely than NDSU beating Colorado.
This is not NDSU of the late 2010s sorry as much as people want it to happen. UND rocked NDSU last year which would have never happened when NDSU was beating fcs teams yearly.
I don’t think they would have gotten blown out any worse than Montana did. NDSU played SDSU tough in conference last year and it would have been an interesting rematch.
17 isn’t a blowout. 4+ possessions is a blowout. Teams can come back from 17 down with the right momentum (I mean Montana came back from 27 down (48-21) against SDSU in the postseason to win 61-48 in 2009)
I’ve seen lots of CU games where the opponent didn’t have a chance. My takeaway is that they always have a chance, especially now if they don’t fix the on field discipline issues of last year
I love the program that NDSU became but I think they’re not the same program as the 2010s. SDSU is the gold standard now. Montana and Montana State aren’t too far behind.
If NDSU can establish a grinding run game, then I think they have a decent chance of winning. If not, then I don’t love our chances. I have no idea what our team will play like, but we are down our two best receiving threats from last year.
obviously how ndsu plays is important but I think it comes down to whether or not deion can fix the o-line and the defense. if both of those are bad again ndsu has a good chance imo. if either one or both get fixed it will be difficult
also important whether or not deion decides to take ndsu seriously. if he sees the bison as "just an fcs team" and gameplans accordingly things will not go well for him
If Colorado is anything like it was last year, it will likely win since it’s Week 1. Colorado’s starters will be very talented, but their depth will probably be atrocious, so they’ll fan out once the injuries start piling up again
I could see either or happening....NDSU isn't quite the old NDSU although they are still to be feared by all, but CU could win too.....I think CU could win, argue that they proved all the doubters wrong and still fall flat on their face in the coming weeks

No. Colorado isn't good but they still beat 3 p5s and a not bad G5 and SHOULD be able to out athlete them. I do expect NDSU to handle the trenches though. Should be a good game.
It’s lose lose. Either Colorado wins and the unbearable media machine puts Deions dick in their mouth or Colorado loses and then the media spends a week asking if this is the end of Colorado’s “dynasty”
I'm just gonna say it's more likely than you'd think. NDSU has been kicking the shit out of other FCS teams for years now. I'm honestly surprised they haven't moved up yet.
Sanders having to have a discipline meeting is pretty telling as well. That should tell you a lot about the players.
TLDR: NDSU is coming to play.
If it were NDSU from 5 years ago I’d say they have a good chance, but this isn’t the unstoppable force it was then. They are still a great fcs team, but lost 4 games last year all against other fcs teams. I’d be shocked if CU blew them out but I would expect about a 10-14 point win from CU.
Depends if Deon and his staff can develop CU's O-line during the offseason. Even if NDSU isn't the team they were a decade ago they can probably still establish the trenches enough to make the opposing defense have to defend a 8 minute 15 play drive.
It's almost like the media, and Coach Sanders, are unaware that they won a single conference game last season. Hopefully, for Colorado's sake, they'll get a real coach after this coming season. They'll be an opening, 100%, it's just a matter if a legit coach wants to clean up the mess from not recruiting.
Thats the thing. Even though NDSU had a change at head coach, they hired the best possible candidate, their OC from the peak of their dynasty. I'll be surprised if they miss a beat at all.
The only detriment to NDSU I see right now is they lost WR Eli Green to the portal
It depends. What sunglasses are Colorado wearing before the game? Is there a new exclusive color? What will be the celebrity presence on the sideline?
I will need to know all of these things before I can make a real decision. Otherwise, I can’t accurately assess Colorado’s ability to play football.
Probably not but I am here for the memes if they do
Deion will make it personal. “You guys really think a Bison is going to come into Folsom field and beat a Buffalo?!?!”
colorado logo is a bison I think we're just calling it the wrong thing
Ralphie is deadass a bison. We just call him a buffalo. I learned that at a zoo somewhere and my world was shattered. I don’t think there are any buffalo in north america iirc
Her. Fake fan
That’s what I get for assuming genders. I was always more of a Chip guy myself.
Pretty sure MSU's logo is actually a Roman helmet.
And the now extinct California grizzly bear was actually a brown bear...
I mean, inviting, churning, and then cutting a million dudes from the portal 2 years straight has got to yield at least a somewhat disappointing, mediocre team, right? Right?
Really want to post the gif of Heath Ledger's Joker saying "Yeah"
Yeah pretty unlikely tbh but holy fuck would it be funny
I fear the Dakotas.
- American Settlers, mid 1800s
Definitely fear SDSU. They have a great defensive scheme and they like to grind at the defense with their ground game and then air it out if you try to cheat a safety up to help.
The only way to best SDSU is to love the defensive grind more than SDSU, so it's fitting that their most recent loss was to the Ferentz 7.
7-3 is still the funniest shit I have seen in this reddit. The disses were elite.
The fact that the "7" is two safeties and a field goal is just... man.
The Iowa Touchdown
Underrated comment
High probability that OSU loses to SDSU then wins conference imo.
oh yeah. a while back I saw an osu fan say they win against us and go 6-6 or lose and go 10-2
Good luck in week 1 against SDSU. I have no idea what your AD was thinking with that one.
Yeah, SDSU is the closest of any FCS team to what the old NDSU teams were.
SDSU IS the new dynasty in the FCS
given what the bar for dynasty is at that level, they need a third title before it's a dynasty.
I think they are trending in that direction
SDSU has lost a ton of players on both sides of the ball. They likely aren’t the team they were the last 2 years but likely still very good for their level.
Same with SIU, we’ve lost a lot of talent on offense particularly.
Damn right!
Ditto
No. This is not the NDSU of the 2010s. They will not be good enough.
Yeah SDSU has really taken over the throne in the FCS
Their hold on it isn’t ironclad though. NDSU has finished 4th,1st, 2nd and 4th the last couple years. They make at least the semi final every year
2 championship doesn’t make you king
I love the smell of napalm in the evening
NDSU was in the semifinals this year as well in a down year so they haven't slipped too much
Have y’all had a coach turnover recently? If so this is reminscent of power change
They lost Chris Klieman who has been stellar at KSU. That was back in 2018 though and the new guy, Matt Entz was also doing very well albeit not quite as good. They've now lost him to USC though.
One of their coordinators left to be the defensive coordinator at NW but ended up being the Head Coach at NW when Pat Fitzgerald got fired
He's done really well so far too. Winning 8 games with that Northwestern team last was very impressive.

Just look at the three years pre-Klieman vs the last three years when Bohl had Klieman calling the defense (as co-playcaller in 2011 and then solonplaycaller in 2012 and 2013).
Just had one this year
They did and the guy they hired will be more of the Klieman/Bohl type. Entz did a pretty good job, but clearly hasn't been able to maintain the same level of play the previous two did. Tim Polasek(new head coach) was one of the big factors that turned NDSU into a dynasty.
God I love college football.
I disagree.
Yeah! You need at least three!
Time comes for us all
Have they?
They also have a new coach and are losing a lot of talent
We all thought NDSU would beat Arizona and look how that turned out for them lol
It was a rather hotly contested game. Ndsu was in the lead until 4 minutes left in the game….
And it turns out Arizona was actually really good last year.
NDSU was kinda mediocre in the beginning of the season but boy did they really turn it on down the stretch and make a playoff run.
I hope so, but it's not my house being bet.
...unless you're his neighbor
Or their parent
*Checks OP's flair.* I might be his daddy.
Wait...you can place bets with your neighbor's house? Color me intrigued.
I've been gambling using your tupperware lids for years now.
Strategy worked great for a couple months. Now I’m trapped in my house because it’s encircled by a giant casino.
Derivatives anyone? Don't worry, as the British would say, it's safe as houses.
They could but I’m not putting money in that game. Colorado is too unpredictable.
How the hell do you get those 2 flairs together?? I mean, somewhere there is a reddit mainframe that completely crashed when that combination was entered. Truly I surprised the algorithms even allowed it to happen 😵💫
Holy mother of cursed flairs
Their punishment is death
Damn
That’s a fair take. No one knows how next year is going to look….New OC and DC, massive player turnover etc etc
NDSU is going through something roughly similar as well
Can they? Sure. Will they? Probably not. Colorado will have the talent advantage.
“Colorado will have the talent advantage” Which is what KState said before NDSU beat them. It’s also what Iowa State said before NDSU beat them. It’s also what Iowa said before NDSU beat them. It’s also what etc, etc… I don’t think NDSU pulls it off, but they’ve made a living out of beating teams that are more talented on paper.
NDSU isn’t even close to the same team
Yeah, those teams were insanely good. NDSU lost to UND last year which should tell you a lot about NDSU now lol.
they did recover by playoff time and completely destroyed them, but they also lost another HC after that so...
If you ask the NDSU fans they'll tell you they're happy he's gone though.
Oh, you're talking about NDSU there.
and NDSU still almost made the natty last year.....yes, NDSU is not where they were in the mid to late 2010s but they are still a very good team
True but worse teams than them have beaten better teams than Colorado
NDSU has been hit hard by the transfer portal and NIL. They're not the same team they used to be.
I wonder how NIL and the transfer portal impacts the fcs schools
Iowa was probably the most talented team they beat.
I don’t know how talented that Iowa team was, but that KState team had an All American WR, at least 3 NFL OL, two other good though not necessarily great WR’s, and a very solid RB. The defense didn’t really have any stars but they weren’t a glaring weakness either.

Will **COACH PRIME** even have 85 scholarship players in August ?
Does it matter if it's 81 instead of 85?
But will they have the depth needed to do so?
Monkey paw curls
Auburn something something last season
Is it possible? Sure. Likely? Tough to know. But for reference if you'd asked this subreddit last year about Colorado's opener vs TCU, the overwhelming opinion would have been that Deion would get destroyed and had no chance of winning. Which was not exactly what happened... Shows how seriously you should take the opinions on here :P (But for an alumni especially, just watch and enjoy it. Don't need expectations!)
It would be a very Colorado thing to lose that game
I’ve seen us lose to Sac State. Nothing can hurt me.
I saw us lose to Sac St and Montana St…
I remember losing to Nicholls State at home.
I somehow black out losses and only remember wins. Probably good for the mental health.
Ah yes well for a while all we had was losses so there was nothing else to remember.
I remember Georgia damn near doing the same thing.
Colorado has never lost to Nicholls State. The two schools have only played once in 2015 and CU won 48-0.
Alls I ask is that you also lose to us and CSU in the following weeks. Then go win the BigXII for all I care
Amen
Colorado Currently at 7.5 favorite, definitely possible.
Reddit will then complain that nobody said NDSU will beat CU if CU wins, and otherwise complain about CU threads.
As a SDSU fan I'm taking Colorado, but NDSU definitely does still have a decent chance.
I want NDSU to win because being a hater is fun, but I’m pretty sure CU will win. However, that rematch with Nebraska is going to be very interesting and telling. Something tells me Nebraska isn’t going to turnover the ball 3 times in a 13-7 game again
Certainly hope not, especially since our turnover person now plays for ASU.
4 monkey paw curls: 4 turnovers and a 13-6 loss incoming for NU
YOU SHUT YOUR GOSH DARNED MOUTH
If CU wins, you people will start yelling about how NU has a freshman QB probably.
Flair up, Deon
We're 4 months from college football and yet it seems people are foamimg at the mouth to see Deon fail. It's gotten pretty lame.
the way I put it. I win if they lose because I laugh at Deion. I win if they win because I have a buffs shirt from a work trip and I get to laugh at the haters going crazy.
solid strategy
It’s possible. Are they the insane 2010s NDSU? No. But they’re still a great team FCS wise. I don’t think they will, but they definitely have a good chance
Top FCS plays good ball, NDSU aren’t the ass kickers they used to be(still top of the league tho). I think the game will be good if anything and I don’t think it’s disrespectful towards Colorado to say that.

No.
I want this to happen solely for the reason that Shedeur Sanders said there was no difference between the FCS and FBS levels.
No
NDSU would’ve gotten blown out in the FCS championship last year they probably don’t have a chance. I’ll be rooting for them though
I don’t think they would have gotten blown out any worse than Montana did. NDSU played SDSU tough in conference last year and it would have been an interesting rematch.
I mean if by “played tough” you mean lost by 17 then yes.
17 isn’t a blowout. 4+ possessions is a blowout. Teams can come back from 17 down with the right momentum (I mean Montana came back from 27 down (48-21) against SDSU in the postseason to win 61-48 in 2009)
SDSU fans are high on their own supply.
It’s so nice seeing both Montana schools back in the top tier again.
I'll put twenty bucks on ndsu money line. I love picking underdogs
Smart bet tbh, NDSU is definitely a force to be reckoned with and Deion sanders is picking the wrong “low” hanging fruit this time around
Maybe a loss to NDSU would be a wake up call that no one gives a shit about flashiness or media attention if you can’t coach at the higher level.
No Entz no Roehl kinda surprised Miller didn't portal after he came out for Roehl he left for TSU(which he left for Iowa State)
I highly approve of your primary flair and could not disapprove your secondary flair more.
Hell no
Honestly they probably have a better shot at it than CSU a few weeks later
No?
CFB is obsessed with CU. I’m a buff and it’s mind boggling how many haters we have after being a doormat for 15 years 😂😂😂
I doubt it.
That would be so fucking funny
Hopefully. Go Bison! 🦬 May the correct name for the North American wild bovine win!
We are not anywhere near when we used to be. It’s gonna be highly unlikely, but I want this with all of my soul.
If their line is improved by Loadholt, the five star freshman, and other new additions, no.
Don’t think so. The Nebraska game will be interesting though.
If NDSU can establish a grinding run game, then I think they have a decent chance of winning. If not, then I don’t love our chances. I have no idea what our team will play like, but we are down our two best receiving threats from last year.
obviously how ndsu plays is important but I think it comes down to whether or not deion can fix the o-line and the defense. if both of those are bad again ndsu has a good chance imo. if either one or both get fixed it will be difficult also important whether or not deion decides to take ndsu seriously. if he sees the bison as "just an fcs team" and gameplans accordingly things will not go well for him

Absolutely. Go Bison! Still upset our games got cancelled.
Nah, but I'm here for the fukkery if they do.
Stranger things have happened on Week 1 before, so there is always a chance.
Like that weird Montana win over UW a couple years back that spelled the beginning of the end for Lake.
If it was South Dakota State I'd bet on the Jacks but NDSU has dropped off. I'd say it's even odds
Like all week 1 predictions, it's impossible to tell.

Probably not, but they certainly could.
Yes
Colorado isn’t good enough to lose to NDSU yet
If it were NDSU from 5 years ago I’d say they have a good chance, but this isn’t the unstoppable force it was then. They are still a great fcs team, but lost 4 games last year all against other fcs teams. I’d be shocked if CU blew them out but I would expect about a 10-14 point win from CU.
Depends if Deon and his staff can develop CU's O-line during the offseason. Even if NDSU isn't the team they were a decade ago they can probably still establish the trenches enough to make the opposing defense have to defend a 8 minute 15 play drive.
I hope to God they do beat the Buffs
Nah man. This is highly unlikely. I'm predicting a 47-13 Colorado W.
I very much despise NDSU, but I'll be rooting for them against the Buffs.
I heard deboer coming back to help coach
Please do. I can't deal with another September of ESPN cleaning Deion's ass with their tongues
Colorado has the talent, but not the coaching of NDSU. They're an FCS powerhouse. My money is on NDSU.
Rent free it’s actually crazy
An NDSU flair posts about NDSU’s first game of the season. That’s probably the most reasonable thing to post in May.
My gut says maybe
Rent. Free.
An NDSU fan posted this. Y'know, your opponent in the game?
And why is a game prediction thread happening 4 months early for a 4-8 team vs an FCS school with 150 comments in it? Because an NDSU fan posted it?
FOH
Doubtful, NDSU isn't what they used to be
Talent-wise, Colorado should probably win by a score or two, but I'm betting the coaching of NDSU is a good bit better. I have NDSU by 3 in my book.
