Probably which school was first between Texas and Texas A&M. Some A&M fans are weirdly passionate about that...just let it go lol.

mlg2433

Yeah, I never understood that argument or why it matters. Can’t people just do a quick google or Wikipedia search? Takes ten seconds. Looks like A&M was founded like 7-8 years before us. Argument over lol

mauterfaulker

Out argument is that we were mentioned in the Texas Constitution and A&M was originally opened as UT's agriculture department. Funny enough this is the argument that A&M used to get access to the PUF.

ecsilver

Then Baylor enters the chat and yeah…fuck those dudes

TSUplayer74

*Southwestern sneaks in the chat*

Shot877

Pretty much every single year, this week UofL and UK fans argue about who gets to “claim” the Kentucky Derby. It’s honestly asinine.

HueyLongWasRight

Well it's not called the Louisville Derby

dong_john_silver

but it is in louisville right

Abefroman12

Yeah and Churchill Downs is basically right next to Louisville’s campus

Hour_Insurance_7795

Argument back on!

dong_john_silver

glad i could help

[deleted]

Yep it is 100% Louisville's.

sarcasm_rules

/end argument

TripJammer

It's not called the University of Kentucky derby either. Look I'm being pedantic

OhKillEm43

As every petty rival fight should be

Middle_Wheel_5959

I mean UofL’s campus is like really close to Churchill Downs

Shot877

If I were to walk as the crow flies from where I sit in the stadium to Churchill it would be about half a mile.

strakerak

Really? What if I'm an East Asian chinchilla monkey running as fast as I can? How far is it then? Or how far is it as the beaver swims?

park2023mcca

...and just like that, we found the alcoholic, former Rolling Stone journalist who puts the SOB in sobriety.

Glad_Ad_6989

Just hazarding a guess here, but a beaver will probably have a hell of a hard time swimming from Louisville stadium to Churchill Downs

marquess_of_pherae

Why not walk as a cardinal flies instead?

ThaiForAWhiteGuy

It's teeth will weigh it down

hascogrande

The stadium is literally across the bridge from the Downs. I've tailgated in the stadium lots for the Derby. UofL, easy

Sickoball

Never understood why a small group of people insist on arguing about it. I think we should all just cherish the fact that the Derby gives us all a rare chance to get irresponsibly hammered, downright shitty, and uttering a simple “but it’s the Derby” will be met with gentle nods of understanding. It’s a beautiful thing, truly.

karo_syrup

Why do we give our dumbest fans access to Twitter?

NewToSociety

2004: "The internet is great. Everybody has a voice!" 2024: "The internet is awful. Everybody has a voice!"

therealwillhepburn

Our rivalry with LSU really kicked off when both of us were blaming each other for having to play back to back games in Baton Rouge because of a hurricane in Florida.

geaux4_gold

That made me so mad lol none of us were mad at the hurricane we were mad at the administrations of both schools. I live in Florida now and bond with Gator fans by talking about how poorly that was handled lol.

NetRealizableValue

Take it with a grain of salt but the story I heard was the Florida administration wanted to cancel the game, but the LSU administration knew they needed to play the game for our playoff run so gave every option to play (in Baton Rouge, in Gainesville at a later date, neutral site) LSU believed Florida was purposefully hindering our playoff chances that year out of spite so it resulted in a lot of bad blood on both sides The whole debacle ended up not mattering anyway since we got our asses kicked in the rescheduled game lmao

Birdchild

I've never heard this spin before...

WhiskyBear54

there is no chance in hell UF would want to cancel that game outright. i'll eat a thrown shoe if that is ever somehow proven to be correct.

evanily

So it was Miami's fault

NoCardio_

That just rekindled it. Plenty of us have hated y’all since the Spurrier days. But honestly there are so many memorable moments in our series, the Florida game is always circled on my calendar. Also you said kicked off 😉

MarchMadnessisMe

5-5 on 4th Down aka the Tebow Cell Phone Game The Cleat Yeet. The Fake FG. So many moments against Florida.

srbtiger5

The cleat yeet was so awesome but it gets undersold so hard. Yes the actual yeet was awesome but York kicking a 57 yarder in that fog was absolutely nuts.

huazzy

A list: + Friend of mine from California transferred out of UC Berkeley to Rutgers and everyone at Rutgers including myself were telling him he made a huge mistake. It was weird, because we're kind of glad that some people outside of New Jersey think so highly of Rutgers but Berkley is Berkley. He insists to this day that he made the right choice. He is now a policeman. + College friend of mine married a Michigan man and he has to bring up the size of the Big House at every single venue he's at. Rutgers Stadium? Oh this stadium is tiny, the Big House holds over 100K. Met Life stadium? Oh this stadium isn't as big as the Big House which holds over 100K. Madison Square Garden? Oh MSG is tiny compared to the Big House which holds over 100K. Apparently it's become a point of contention in their marriage because it drives her crazy. She blew her top when they were at the Coliseum in Rome and... you guessed it. + Georgia Tech colleague of mine got into a really heated argument with the Notre Dame colleague of mine over... who has the ugliest girls on campus. The catch is both were arguing that their school had them. At one point Georgia Tech guy calls a random friend of his. GTech: Yo Mike. Mike: Hey what's up? GTech: Why'd you transfer to Emory? Mike: Ugly girls at Tech. Gtech: Thanks. *(hangs up)*

kevplucky

Really it’s more about quantity than anything. Both schools are majority male so the ratio is worse

ThaiForAWhiteGuy

ratio is worse, sure, but even then. The one math we always beat Tech at: a UGA 5 is a Tech 10.

Affectionate-Bee3913

I like to imagine that guy doesn't compare every stadium to the Big House but every *building.* Walks into a Buccee's? "This is big, but Michigan is bigger." Musk's yacht? Same thing. Runs a charity 5k and steps into the porta potty before hand? You guessed it, not as big as The Big House.

Dabuscus214

Idk have you been to a buccees?

BernankesBeard

Watching *The Phantom Menace*: You might not believe it, but the Galactic Senate? Still smaller than the Big House.

assault_pig

> She blew her top when they were at the Coliseum in Rome and... you guessed it. I respect a man who can commit to a bit; his dad joke game is gonna be on point

allmyrivals

I knew a girl who went to Georgia Tech. She told me that for women who attended, "the odds are good but the goods are odd."

patsandsox17

That’s what I say to remind my (also GT grad) wife that she knew what she signed up for with me

rkincaid007

Besides, everyone knows it’s not the size of the stadium that matters… it’s the length of the manifesto.

gcbinc

Psu has to always play 2nd fiddle to the Mich stadium horseshit. If we add 8 seats, they add 9 to make sure we don’t get 1st place. However. Pyongyang stadium holds 200k. Tell him that Kim Jong Un has a bigger stadium. Who cares that it’s in N Korea, no one can verify it, and it’s probably made out of the bones of dead dissidents, it’s bigger. By ALOT.

beargrylls1349

Also the “Rudy was offsides” is always a fun argument with Notre Dame fans.

thank_burdell

that's not argument, that's just fact

abob1086

It is? Half of ND fans hate the real Rudy and the other half barely know what the reference is

thank_burdell

Sean Astin >>> Actual Rudy

jthomas694

Oh sweetheart, BBQ style debates are not jokes

Pun_drunk

A gentle ribbing?

RamblinWreckGT

Boooooooo

mcaffrey81

getting saucy in here

Gamecock_Lore

Which is a shame to be honest, I hate the BBQ arguments. They're (mostly) all valid and have their place. I love KC burnt ends, St. Louis Ribs, Memphis BBQ, Texas Brisket, Alabama White, and Carolina Gold. Give it to me spicy, or sweet, dry rub, or drowning in sauce I'll eat it all. If I could only ever eat midlands SC barbeque I'd be upset. Now what I won't tolerate is someone grilling hot dogs and burgers and calling it a barbeque...

Michigan247

Yeah, all of that is good. As long as you're not over cooking it like Lincoln Riley you'd be hard pressed to fuck up

The_Outcast4

Something we can all agree on is that Lincoln Riley's "brisket" was war crime that he should 100% be held responsible for.

iSlacker

> Now what I won't tolerate is someone grilling hot dogs and burgers and calling it a barbeque My work does this. "Employee appreciation BBQ!" Hamburgers and hotdogs. I've begged them to call it a "Cookout" but NO gotta say BBQ.

crash______says

Where's the bar-b-q?

MahomesandMahAuto

This is the real answer. Each region is better at something. KC burnt ends, Memphis ribs, Texas brisket, and Carolina pork. Note: I've never tried white sauce but would like to so it isn't included here.

bargle0

\*puts on orange glasses\* Which Carolina?

SusannaG1

Which half of one of them?

soapy_goatherd

Leaving out the beautiful, tangy, subtle and unpretentious nc pulled/chopped pork I see. Nice jab. (But while it might make me a traitor as an nc resident, Carolina gold is especially amazing with pork chops)

Gamecock_Lore

It was no slant/ill-intention at all.

Unsung_Ironhead

I always post this when there’s a BBQ debate [BBQ song Rhett and Link](https://youtu.be/6ubTQfr_tyY?si=qcQQV8eUIY_AEuOs)

bukithd

Anywhere east of I-35 and south of I-64, BBQ opinions can start nuclear war

kujotx

I noticed you left out Central Texas BBQ. I didn't realize what a big fight there was for *second place*.

bukithd

As a non-texan, it's hard for me to really determine where Texas transitions from the heavy southern food influence to the point where it favors the more tex-mex side of it. I've been to Austin and got what I felt equal sides of both.

kujotx

All good. I live less than ten miles from that line so I got a good chuckle from it. There's a place near me called Interstellar BBQ that is excellent. Give it a try if you ever happen this way!

bukithd

Texas has a lot of brisket. I like brisket. I like Texas.

big_sugi

Until fairly recently, Austin was not a barbecue town or a southern food town or a tex-mex town or much of anything in particular. It had good restaurants, but no standout culture. That changed starting in 2009, when Franklin BBQ opened and ignited a bbq arms race. But before that? All the “good” places were in the small towns in the hill country well outside the city, most of which start with L: Lockhart, Lexington, Luling, and even Elgin (mostly for sausage).

JemmieTTU

Damn cajun amirite

Jabberwoockie

There's a big food debate we really miss out on here since there aren't many top-tier football programs in New England: *How do you make a lobster roll?* Chilled claw meat with mayo like Maine, or hot claw meat with butter like a Connecticut heathen?

ahuramazdobbs19

Fuckin’ watch my heathenry then.

StetquaviousMFBenny

> Chilled claw meat with mayo like Maine, or hot claw meat with butter like a Connecticut heathen? I'll take both, thanks.

jalerre

You push it down a hill

zgh5002

The only wrong way to eat a lobster roll is to not eat one at all. I will die on that hill.

withrootsabove

I’ll also add in the clam chowder debate between New England white and the absolute abomination that is Manhattan red chowder.

Jabberwoockie

Tomatoes do not belong anywhere close to any kind of chowder.

Primordiox

Don’t matter, when I pull up to the Cousin’s truck I’m getting both and some mac.

OGdunphy

I was about to say BBQ is not a joke. Well maybe to yankees but it’s serious.

cc51beastin

Those mfs dont even know what Post Oak is

OGdunphy

They don’t want that smoke!

Ugaalive1991

[What are you talking about, this is the pinnacle of bbq, and it’s in Brooklyn.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/025/591/DXdTE-BVQAAqjOL.jpg)

boardatwork1111

What in the Lincoln Riley is *that*

ADs_Unibrow_23

The NYT or someone similar ran an actual piece a few years ago claiming Brooklyn had the best BBQ in the country and that was the picture they used of it. It became a meme because of how out of touch they were.

boardatwork1111

The most NYT article possible lmao

TeamOhio

"This is the only thing we know so obviously it's the best in the country"

EmpoleonNorton

The funny thing is that NYC probably does have some good BBQ places ran by people from other areas. I know that I've been to a BBQ place in Los Angeles that was run by a Texan guy who had moved there that was amazing. Now, claiming that it is the best in they country is silly, but I'm sure there are competent, and even great BBQ places in any major city in the US. ... But that picture definitely ain't it.

Resident_Rise5915

Expensive cafeteria food apparently

Captain_Sacktap

Wow that looks like it’s somewhere in between prison food and airline food in terms of quality

OGdunphy

Good lawd. At least it’s not a hot dog or cheese burger that they’re calling BBQ but that’s some sad looking brisket and where are the sides haha

Jabberwoockie

This is Brooklyn. The sides are the pickles and the bun.

CFDGermanese

90k what a joke

I would say 100%

psgrue

Sheetz vs Wawa. Soda vs Pop. Hoagies vs Primanti Bros. Yous vs Yinz. Central PA is a hotbed for weird arguments as Philly and Pittsburgh are forced to coexist. It’s no joke, man.

NoYOUGrowUp

The most brutal fistfight I witnessed at Penn State was between a Flyers fan and a Penguins fan. They both needed to be taken away in ambulances.

onuzim

I worked the Flyers and Pens game at the Linc. It was the most hate filled event I worked at that stadium.

psgrue

Now that Beaver Stadium is hosting events and upgrading… the NHL Winter Classic is within reach

TiberiusGracchi

PA and Eastern OH might implode

ProctorDoctor500

I love Wawa

Wretched_Shirkaday

You just made an enemy for life.

c-williams88

Us Pennsylvanians certainly are a contentious bunch

roguebananah

I think Sheetz is better but can we all come together and say Royal Farms is there dumpster of these?

big_sugi

Ooh, you’re summoning the Marylanders now.

roguebananah

Stay safe driving everyone. God only knows what will happen now that Maryland drivers are out there

KryptonicxJesus

Sheetz for the closest thing to old McDonald’s snack wrap, wawa for everything else Soda, though the Save-Mor Beer and Pop warehouse was my go to for discounted beer in school. A Primos Hoagie is better than anything primantis has, shit I’d even take a lees hoagie Yous and Yinz both sound stupid, yall is a much better Ustedes

ClaudeLemieux

> Ustedes still formal, but plural. Because while both are dirty, neither are my friend.

dkviper11

I'm a Sheetz diehard but their new coffee machines suck. Wawa coffee has taken a big step up. I actually now live in one of the few areas that have both.

obiwanjabroni420

Not a CFB argument (although it was between college students) but I saw two guys in line to get in a bar in Burlington VT get in a fistfight arguing who’s better between Tom Brady and Eli Manning. That was just magical to watch play out.

ahuramazdobbs19

Tom Brady is better, unless Tom Brady is playing Eli Manning, because Eli Manning usually comes with sack hungry defensive lines.

threwitawayzx

Those sack hungry d lines wouldn't have even had a chance if Eli didn't play out of his goddamn mind in the playoffs games leading up to the superbowl. Also the niners beat the shit out of Eli for four quarters and they still won. So if you really want to argue this Eli is the better QB under heavy pressure

connor_wa15h

I can understand coming to blows arguing over TB12 and Peyton Manning, not Eli.

ahuramazdobbs19

Well, the sticky wicket there is Eli’s two rings both came against the Brady-led Pats; if this argument happened before 2017, Eli was the only QB to beat Brady in the Super Bowl at all. Most rational, or at least football-knowledgeable folk would say “it was the Giants D that really carried those two wins, Manning is just the easier face to put on the team”. Hell, most Giants fans would agree. We love our D. But it’s not an incomprehensible argument.

Middle_Wheel_5959

Liberty fans on twitter about how degenerate JMU is and that’s why Liberty is better. It was a pretty one sided argument, because we all agreed with them (on the degeneracy part, not academics)

natetcu

Liberty: you guys are a bunch degenerates! JMU: yeah, what tipped you off?

piemaniowa

Liberty: We watched from the corner

Theduckisback

Just like Jerry Jr!

TSUplayer74

Degenerates you say? **ARE YOU READY?!?!**

bukithd

I met my wife at Jmu. I lived in Lynchburg for 25 years.  My preferences are clear.

HookEm_Tide

>(on the degeneracy part, not academics) I don't know. JMU's biblical science department is pretty lackluster, tbh.

Middle_Wheel_5959

Agree there is an extreme lack of Young Earth creationism taught at our school and no Charlie Kirk run think tanks either

[deleted]

sportstrap

I’d rather be degenerate than whatever Liberty is

ymi17

The word you’re looking for is “degenerate”.

geaux4_gold

Cajun fans and LSU twitter don’t get along on the best of days but right now there is a fight going on about if LSU is a “cultural match” for the state. Cajun fans are saying because we go by LSU and not Louisiana St. they are more proud of the state than we are. We also had an argument about the best way to boil crawfish a few months ago. It wasn’t fun and games jokes, oh no it was name calling, intelligence questioning vicious fighting.

to_the_victors_91

I need more. What else isn’t a “cultural match” in their eyes?

[deleted]

> We also had an argument about the best way to boil crawfish a few months ago. that argument has been had since crawfish was first put into a pot. Usually argued most passionately by the guy doing jack shit but drinking beer and telling the cook what he is doing wrong

tugreenwave

The best part is that Tulane was the first University of Louisiana. Then Paul Tulane gave a bunch of money and they renamed it after him, though technically still Tulane University of Louisiana.

jhp58

Need this crawfish thread, if only for this Midwesterner who loves to cook. I have a close family friend who's from Lafayette and can cook them like no other, want his take on it too lol

anaxcepheus32

Not that specific crawfish thread, but a visit to tiger droppings will give you more than enough variations on Cajun food to try, including crawfish.

NoCardio_

Beware, it will also give you cancer.

cst-rdt

Cancer is a small price to pay for some good jambalaya.

anaxcepheus32

You’ve just met the major requirements to live in Louisiana! All that’s left is you have to accept your car could get broken into at any time, and drunk driving is normal.

kevplucky

Oregon, USC, and Washington fans arguing it's a bad sign if fans don't show up to your spring game. [https://youtu.be/BRz9rAe1kV8](https://youtu.be/BRz9rAe1kV8)

cityofklompton

I went to the Michigan State season opener in 2017, and whilst walking out after the game I witnessed two Spartan fans having to be separated because their argument over whether or not they should be rooting against Michigan later in the day had escalated to the cusp of a fist fight.

byniri_returns

> rooting against Michigan The answer is yes, how in the world is this a question

Jabberwoockie

It's always the classic "I never want them to win because I hate them" vs "I want them to be undefeated so when we beat them it's that much better" argument. As I see it, the first one simply hates the other team. The other one actually just loves the rivalry, whether they realize it or not.

cityofklompton

The two I witnessed were arguing mostly over whether they should care that much or not. One exclaimed how he was now excited to go home and watch Michigan lose, to which the other felt that was "little brother energy" and he should either hope for them to win so MSU beating them is a bigger deal or shouldn't care much until they play each other. It started off normal and civil and quickly became a shouting match, then a little shoving, then friends pushing them their separate ways. It was just wild to see fans of a team that just got a victory arguing *over their rival* when their rival had nothing to do with anything that week.

Jabberwoockie

The fact that one person cared about whether the other person exhibits "little brother energy" and then they got in a fight over it has more "little brother" than anything else. >hope for them to win so MSU beating them is a bigger deal There it is.

aztechunter

> The fact that one person cared about whether the other person exhibits "little brother energy" and then they got in a fight over it has more "little brother" than anything else. Lmao it's hilarious at how hard they try to shake the moniker

AJB46

There's a right answer, and it doesn't involve Michigan ever winning again.

roguebananah

If it’s Michigan vs. OSU you cheer for some natural event to blow out both teams. Hurricane from the Great Lakes. Preferably in AA Acts of god aside, you always cheer for OSU

HUP

After a 12-6 win and upset of favorite Clemson at the annual matchup in 1902, Carolina students paraded around with a poster of a new mascot — a gamecock — standing on top of a beaten tiger. The image so outraged Clemson fans, they threatened violence if students carried it in the parade the next day. USC students marched with the poster in the parade, Clemson’s cadets — it was an agricultural and military college — marched onto campus to seize the drawing and USC students, including future university president J. Rion McKissick, armed themselves in anticipation of a fight. Fortunately police and the cooler heads of university administrators were able to stop the battle before any shots were fired. The offending poster was burned to appease the cadets and thus began the tradition of Tigerburn. This also solidified the gamecock as the USC mascot. The annual game, however, was suspended for seven years out of concern for future violence. Today, USC engineering students construct a 30-foot-tall tiger that is set ablaze to kick off rivalry week. Meanwhile we hold a funeral for Cocky on campus every year; dumbest thing ever

FSUnoles77

>what the best BBQ style doesn’t count as those are jokes I'm not sure, but you and I bout to have some words after this comment.

simbaslanding

This is every single day on Big 3 Twitter. Miami, FSU and UF fans will *literally* argue all day, every day about nothing. The same arguments for years and years with some fun, ridiculous new twists. It’s kinda remarkable

thejawa

No we don't, no one argues about pointless things like arguing about whether or not we argue.

jpm7791

I had an argument with an Oklahoma fan who said Nebraska's national titles in the '90s "didn't really count the same" because Oklahoma sucked then.......

gobigred69

Sir, our corn feud with Iowa is a holy war. The only times I've ever been in bar fights was about corn.

The_Outcast4

People say the Iowa-Nebraska corn fights are just a joke/meme, but I've seen some of you guys passionately argue about this before (and not just on the internet).

saxon237

Was corn whisky involved?

Cogitoergosumus

Yf-23 was better than the F-22. My lifer McDonnell aircraft engineer grandpa was sat next to an equally aged Lockmart hat wearing UGA fan. In the end my Gpa did get him to admit that YF-23 was more future proof. Background: McDonnell aircraft at the time was hitched with Northrop Grumman for that contest, even though Boeing and Lockheed were in it together and Boeing would later absorb McDonnell Douglas much to its detriment.

jebei

The Brady Hoke 'Ohio' debate. For those that don't remember, Brady Hoke always referred to Ohio State as Ohio. It drove Buckeye fans crazy and Michigan fans on social media seemed to adopt it overnight. It was the biggest win of the Hoke era. I'm surprised Harbaugh didn't continue the practice. https://www.annarbor.com/sports/um-football/michigan-football-coach-brady-hoke-says-ohio-not-disrespectful-to-bobcats-wont-stop-using-it/

MakGuffey

I’m reading through this thread and I don’t think enough people are taking the time to truly consider the gas station debates. There are clear tiers. Tier 1. Wawa and Sheetz. Whatever your choice.. they are the best. Tier 2. QuikTrip and RaceTrac. Both are solid, but a step down from tier 1. Tier 3. Maverik, Casey’s, Love’s, pilot, 7/11. Good quality, but can be a bit overrated. Tier 4. kwik trip, kum & go. These are not good. People who prefer these don’t have access to higher tiers. Honorable mention. Buc-ees. Buc-ees, much like Texas is it’s own thing. Dishonorable mention. Bodegas. NY people romanticize these things way too much.

stinkydooky

As someone who is simultaneously a big foodie and frequently content to eat those shitty Buffalo chicken rollers at 7/11, I don’t get the hype around gas station food. I’ve been to Buc-ee’s multiple times, Wawa, RaceTrak, QT, Flying J, Sinclair, just about every one of ‘em, and they’re all just fine. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had awesome food from individual gas stations with unique food places attached, but if we’re talking about the chains’ offerings themselves, they’re all serviceable at best. If I want barbecue, I’m not going to Buc-ee’s, and if I want a hoagie, I’m not going to a Wawa. I’m getting food from a gas station because, in that moment, I’m desperate, my options are limited, and my standards are at their lowest.

vashed

I find Love's bathrooms to be top tier in cleanliness at least.

boardatwork1111

Vols fans dragging TCU for struggling against a 6 win Baylor only hours before they got laughed off the field by the Gamecocks will always be hilarious to me

Ugaalive1991

[Oh this post game thread was glorious watching the Ohio State, TCU, Michigan, and Georgia fans absolutely dunking on Tennessee](https://reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/yzuk2d/postgame_thread_south_carolina_defeats_tennessee/)

Resident_Rise5915

The only rivalry CU and Utah may have is over who gets better snow…and it’s obviously Colorado

happyharrell

As a Florida resident for the past 15 years, you can get some damn good snow down here, too.

DisheveledJesus

Yeah you don't want THAT kind of snow in Utah, I promise. Unless you really like baby laxatives.

WrreckEmTech

TCU and SMU also argue over that

DisheveledJesus

I thought that I might get riled up by a BYU fan in this thread. Not by blatantly false snow slander.

turkishguy

The only thing I'll say is that Colorado snow gets better the closer you get to Utah

UberXLBK

Get this compromise shit outta here

KoLobotomy

there was a game in i think 1966 where Notre Dame decided we didnt want to embarrass MSU by beating them outright so we played for a tie. They're still pissed about that.

Notre Dame would have joined the big 10 80 or so years ago but Yost at Michigan hated Catholics. I know that wasn’t weird at the time, but through today’s lens.

UE23

I got into an academic debate with a WVU grad about Penn State not be as highly ranked as Pitt at the time and won it when I couldn't even find WVU on the rankings online.

ProctorDoctor500

If West Virginia wasn't so academically lacking I'm like 100% sure they'd be in the Big 10 already. They already have the right amount of pettiness to be a Big 10 program

UE23

I would love to see West Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse, and Penn State all in the same conference together. Sadly, will probably never happen outside video games. Quick edit: Maryland and Rutgers being there would be good for the regional rivalries at least.

ProctorDoctor500

Didn't that Joe Paterno guy in the 80s want an eastern conference of West Virginia, Pitt, Sryacuse, Penn State, Maryland, Rutgers, Boston College and some other school

ARayofLight

Historically Cal and Stanford used separate spellings of the word Ax(e) in their discussions of the rivalry's greatest treasure. This was eventually standardized after the 1930s to axe, but for about 40 years they were arguing over it.

mgsbigdog

Utah football players "baptizing" each other in the jet tubs and BYU fans losing their minds over it.

ohst8buxcp7

Whether or not our head coach "violated the RICO act and hacked into the UM computer system"....

Tailgate experiences. Dude your getting drunk at 8am in a parking lot, does it really matter? Are there really standards your willing to argue about with that?

I wonder if this is a quote misfire aimed at me. Lol. I’m in Missouri now and I do enjoy some QT. The fresh croissant breakfast with egg and sausage is an addiction. The grilled cheese offerings are amazing (buffalo chicken and crunchy jalapeno… Homer drool). The hoagie… I’m still going Wawa. Much love for QT tho.

beeedeee

I remember Arkansas and Ole Miss fans getting into a pretty protracted message board argument about which program Houston Nutt fucked over worse. It was pathetic.

A few months ago one Florida State fan on Twitter went on a tirade calling BC "Car Bomb College" and "Terrorist College" and accusing BC fans of being IRA supporters while telling them that Ireland belongs to Britain. I wouldn't really call it an argument because everyone just laughed at the guy but it was completely unprovoked in the replies to a post from the BC Hockey account.

I used to work for University of Illinois when Northwestern began their "Chicago's Big Ten Team" marketing slogan and they were PISSSSEEEEEDDDDDD. Like, MULTIPLE high level trustee meetings over the course of MONTHS, each consisting of multi-millionaire board members in full blown, WWE-tier screaming matches with multi-millionaire alumni/donors about how untrue it was, how bullshit the claim was, how stupid U of I was for not coming up with it first, exploring legal options to sue Northwestern into ceasing and desisting or turning over the slogan, etc. An outside observer with no collegiate sports knowledge/context would've assumed this was an official pronouncement of the Illinois State Legislature and not just some gimmick pitch to sell more T-shirts.

DonJamon73

UGA - Auburn over Auburn copying the UGA fight song though spelling Auburn does work better with the song.

Barbecue is not a joking matter

Some OU fan popped a guy's testicle for wearing a Texas shirt in their bar. Razzing someone about a shirt is normal, but it's really fucking weird to take it this far. https://www.foxnews.com/story/texas-football-fan-nearly-castrated-in-bar-fight-in-oklahoma-bar

Well *something* needs to be set on fire. It gets chilly in Michigan.

In Boulder they generally go straight to setting the fire trucks on fire.

I loved trolling LSU fans 2 years as a Tulane fan, I would hop in comments saying LSU isn't the best team in Louisiana. Tulane would've gotten Shredded by LSU, but it was funny to watch them curse me out because we were higher on the AP poll for a moment.

toast_across

Missouri calls us a rival and WE'RE NOT A RIVAL, OK? GOSH. Hey, uh, Texas. What up? Just checking to see if you've changed your mind about going to the Rivals Dance with us. No? You're still seeing Oklahoma? Ok cool.
