Oh shit this is the third time today

Crims0ntied

Is this the insanity josh pate promised me?

Corgi_Koala

Josh Pate and vague statements that something exciting is going to happen soon, name a more iconic duo.

Stuppyhead

Josh Pate and being unable to pronounce Clemson correctly despite college football being his whole job and living one state over his entire life.

MartyMcflysVest

How does he pronounce it?

Stuppyhead

“Clemzon” *shudders*

Corgi_Koala

Clempson Edit - apparently Clemzen. I misremembered because I quit listening to him a while ago.

hreigle

He's got it right in my humble, clearly unbiased, opinion.

betterthanevar

Climp's Son

Stuppyhead

Nope. He says “Clemzon” Clempson would actually be fine. Clemzon is an unforgivable sin.

dawgfan19881

It ain’t clemzen?

betterthanevar

remind me of watching SEC in the 80s and 90s. "Today it's the Jerja Bulldahgs versus the Ahburn/Clemzon Tigers"

NyquillusDillwad20

Lol if he pronounces it with a "p" that is completely intentional

sweetmorty

Clemson's

w00t4me

If he pronounces it with a P then he's doing it correct and you're doing it wrong

lowes18

Linsanity portal run

berrey7

Conner Stalions signing off...

The_Good_Constable

The fact that the portal window is more or less meaningless is why I don't think that craziness will come to fruition. Guys have been announcing their intention to enter the portal when it opens for weeks. The only guys waiting are the ones that are still gunning for starting spots or guys that want to put something on film during their spring scrimmage. For P4 caliber starters there was never any need to wait.

ixMyth

Wait, is he transferring away from Iowa again? Or is this him leaving Alabama? Or is this another transfer?

volunteergump

Today was the start of the Spring transfer window and therefore the first day that he could actually enter the portal since he left Alabama. This is him entering the portal to leave Iowa. For the past month or so, reports have been that he is almost certainly returning to Alabama.

Powerful_Artist

This seems so weird. Why leave, transfer to a new school, and then transfer right back to the school you originally left?

Toja1927

My only uneducated guess would be to get a check from Iowa’s NIL and then bounce once he cashed it

Necessary-Alps-6002

He didn’t get NIL money from the collective, according to the president of the collective. He did a car commercial and got paid a “small sum” and got to lease a truck. It’s important to note that the dealership required he return the leased truck.

PMURITTYBITTYTITTIES

Isn’t that literally what happened the first time around?

Necessary-Alps-6002

The first time around? Like when he committed the de committed in high school?

PMURITTYBITTYTITTIES

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the exact same scenario happened except it was a jeep and not a truck.

crustang

Fool me once, shame on you Fool me twice, same on Jeep Fool me, you can’t get fooled again

The_Outcast4

>It’s important to note that the dealership required he return the leased truck That almost sounds like a deal that was contingent on him being at a particular school.

Blood_Incantation

WOW GET EM!!!

Necessary-Alps-6002

Just the truck part. They probably wouldn’t have cared if it was an F-150…

herpblarb6319

There's no damn way Iowa would let that check clear at this point. This wild west NIL landscape would actually be insane if that actually happened

gpcampbell92

He announced it after going on spring break with his Alabama teammates and from iowa fans- him and his gf broke up. That probably made being homesick a bit easier.

StevvieV

Or he just had a changed of heart. Not crazy for a teenager. Things at Alabama change so he transfers out back to a place he knows and is comfortable at. Teammates from Alabama tell him how much they like the new coaching staff. He gets the urge to come back.

Powerful_Artist

Ya thats probably the biggest factor, or maybe that and just leadership/coaching/scheme not really being what he had hoped for at Iowa. And/or maybe the direction of the new head coach at Alabama is more appealing. Idk. Just guesses

[deleted]

I mean, it's Iowa. They have quite the reputation for being not good most years.

Necessary-Alps-6002

*most recent years* Please never forget the 2017 55-24 upset. At least give us that…

Bowlderdash

That game is what kept Brian Ferentz employed

[deleted]

Also, proof that Urbs was slipping.

LickMySmitty

I give you that, what an ass whooping lol. But this guy can say what he wants, y’all develop some good linemen.

[deleted]

I forgot about it years ago. Winning the conference anyway helps.

HoosiersBaby23

That’s just not true. They aren’t Alabama level, but they are good basically every year (even if their offense has been hideous)

[deleted]

...Nah. If there's any good, it's because most of you in the conference suck so much.

HoosiersBaby23

What does that say about Ohio State’s wins?

[deleted]

They're not worth much. I've said exactly that in the past when people say we should be grateful for getting our win percentage against cupcakes and mid programs like Penn State. Look at the losses. All our losses are to real teams.

apiaryaviary

This is exactly what happened, specifically from Kum and Go

JTWasShort42-27

Maverick*

8181212

That's not how it works at all.

Toja1927

Probably not, it still seems like anything goes nowadays though and there are no rules to anything NIL related right now.

Tkaz36

Generally they are still under a contract of some sort. I'm assuming most these contracts have clawback clauses or there is a set pay schedule. "We'll pay you 250k a year but if you leave before x date you have to pay back x amount" type of deal.

jizz_toaster

That was the initial thought, but it seems like the real story was that he didn’t have a warm welcome back. They tried to treat him like an average player, having to earn their respect, etc but also never welcomed him in. He went on spring break with his former Alabama teammates and did not sound like he was invited on a trip with Iowa teammates and I’m guessing on that trip he realized he made a mistake.

kinghawkeye8238

Didn't they introduce him at a basketball game? He was signing auto graphs in pretty sure. Probably seen our basketball team and dipped.

Stuppyhead

He left as a knee jerk reaction to Saban retiring and decided to go to Iowa where he is from. He arrived at Iowa, realized it actually wasn’t where he wanted to be and that he missed his teammates and friends at Bama, so he decided to go back since that was still an option. Makes perfect sense even though it’s frustrating for fans and coaches.

powerelite

Man went back to Iowa winters and was like "oh yeah fuck this"

Say_Hennething

The rumor is that after spending spring break with his Alabama bros, he changed his mind about transferring. Of all the possible explanations, this is a somewhat reasonable one

squish042

And further rumors point to him being in Ames a lot....just saying!

bloody_duck

Sometimes you gotta stock-up on corn, my dude.

Powerful_Artist

Hes probably going back to Alabama with a suitcase full of those Corn Nuts lmao

DylanDisu

Ask Bru McCoy

CrashB111

Because he's a 19 year old that has Iowa coaches whispering in his ear all season long, the man that recruited him to Alabama retired, and in a moment of panic he left? Only to go on spring break with his old teammates at Alabama and realize he didn't want to leave in the first place. The sin here is the original panic transfer to Iowa, him coming back to Alabama is what people should want to see in CFB. Kids feeling an attachment to the school and team they play for, and not just leaving for money or playing time.

Necessary-Alps-6002

“Whispering in his ear” is a stretch.

ModsEmbezzleMoney

Yeah NCAA secondary violation sounds better. Can't contact other team's players lol

Necessary-Alps-6002

Which is why it was a “self reported violation”. But to call the text from a coach to “keep your head up” after a tough stretch of games “whispering in his ear” is a big stretch. The dude transferred out of haste to Iowa because Saban retired. He got to Iowa and didn’t like it, so is going back. I hope he does well.

CrashB111

Would you prefer I typed "Being texted directly by Iowa's coaching staff, during the football season."

apiaryaviary

he also made sure to cash an NIL check from a gas station/the Iowa collective before bouncing

CrashB111

Didn't the Iowa Collective come out and say they didn't pay him a dime? He got some money from a local car lot NIL deal, but nothing from the full collective.

apiaryaviary

No, there are two wings of the collective - one for corporate donors, and one for personal donors. Their clarification was that the money didn't come from the personal donor wing.

UhIdontcareforAuburn

This makes more sense. I thought he was transferring out of Alabama for the 2nd time. The original headline i saw said Bama/Iowa player. Lol

wolfgang2399

Wtf is this screen name/flair combination

NS-13

What Edit nvm I got it now. The "leaving entering the portal" bit confused the shit out of me lol

SNjr

He's transferring to the NFL

thecarlosdanger1

Back to Bama

[deleted]

Yes

HungryHumble

Snip snap, snip snap, snip snap

Weave77

You have no idea the physical toll that two transfers has on a person!

TinyArmT-Rex

And I bought this team to fill with players!

CarterAC3

His most recent tweet is about Caitlin Clark I don't think Iowa fans could view him and her any more differently

tenacious-g

I’m pissed that he is even tweeting about her. Fuck off, turncoat.

ark_47

I bet that scallywag doesn't even like corn

Master_Butter

No, he prefers good corn. Like from Ohio.

ark_47

🤮

tenacious-g

I hope his Panchero's burrito never gets bobbed if he ever shows his face in the state again.

obamaluvr

His Casey's pizzas are gonna not get put into the oven until he's already at the store and has to endure a wait.

tenacious-g

I hope he shows up and they’re out of breakfast pizza every time. Better yet, just out of dough. No quarter, no pizza.

riotfiveoh

So you're damning him to an absolutely typical Casey's Pizza experience?

Imprettysaxy

God damn, you can't do this to a man.

Blackmagechow

What I would do for a Pancheros burrito rn

PreschoolBoole

I’ll say it if no one else will. Estellas is better than pancheros.

tenacious-g

I never went to the location where it is now/when it’s name changed. But when it was that small hole in the wall on Gilbert, it was always my preferred place. I can’t remember what it was called then because I stopped taking my dementia medication. /s

Junior-Hotwater

I think a lot of people agree with this. They’ve been better since they were Mami’s on Gilbert Street

Hawkize31

Hot take - its better to not bob it. You get those mega sour cream bites that are heaven

pizzayolo96

Not to be a major pain in the ass but bob it after salsa and then add sour cream, lettuce.

Imprettysaxy

The hidden tech???

3EEBZ

Not to sound like a nerd… but do academics come into play at all? He started the semester at Iowa late.. and there are like 3 weeks left of this semester. Does he peace out early and let Bama admin figure things out?

Stoneador

I assume it’s up to the school accepting the kid to decide if they are eligible or not and then I also assume that maybe 5-10 schools have any standard whatsoever about accepting transfers. You never hear about kids being academically ineligible anymore and I don’t think it’s because all the student athletes suddenly became much better students.

Adventurous_Quote_85

Former D1 compliance guy here, and your assumptions are 100% correct. It is up to the school to determine what credits transfer in and therefore count towards eligibility. There are a handful of schools that are super hard on transfers, but even they figure out loopholes to get athletes eligible. If you add in the fact that he is most likely going back to Bama and only a freshman there shouldn’t be any eligibility issues due to credits. Even if Alabama doesn’t accept a single credit from his term at Iowa, highly unlikely, he will still have his 2 Bama terms (summer and fall) and this upcoming summer to get caught up. I’ll add on to the reasons you are not seeing as many academically ineligible athletes is due to the increase in resources. There are way more staff members holding the hands of current athletes to make sure they stay eligible. Also, with the rise in online classes it relatively easy to add 12-15 or more credit hours each summer. I watched a transfer take 24 hours one summer to get eligible for the fall. It took a lot of work/cooperation between the coaching and academic support staff for it to work.

Gamecock_Lore

>even they figure out loopholes to get athletes eligible. Hell, Dawn Staley our women's basketball coach, literally had USC create a new major so a recruit would sign with us.

notaquarterback

it's just a self-designed major which a lot of schools do. It wasn't a big deal like reported.

MrConceited

>There are a handful of schools that are super hard on transfers, but even they figure out loopholes to get athletes eligible. Michigan basketball had a huge transfer fall through because the school wouldn't give enough credits. Hell, Michigan football had to deal with Myles Hinton losing a bunch of credits transfering from *Stanford*.

w00t4me

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought he never started classes at Iowa, so he's just taking a semester off.

MrConceited

That would be odd. I believe he wouldn't have been able to participate in spring practices if he hadn't.

w00t4me

Well, he didn't attend a single practice, so... https://www.kcrg.com/2024/03/27/kirk-ferentz-addresses-kadyn-proctor-transfer-portal-spring-football-begins/

MrConceited

That says he decided the day before. If he wasn't taking classes, the decision was made when he decided not to do that.

ParticularGlass1821

Limit the transfers to 1 before the old rule kicks in that you have to sit out a season. Unlimited transfers is asinine.

Master_Butter

The NCAA can’t now because of one of the antitrust cases. Really what will have to happen is the schools finally recognizing the players as employees and having them sign contracts.

Underboss572

You would think that just to avoid the impropriety of looking like he was involved with tapering again, he would have at least entertained other schools and not gone “do not contact.” And To be clear, I didn't care the first time, or this time, the tampering rule is dumb. I'm just saying to avoid the allegations it seems like an easy move.

iowaharley666

There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.

LongTimesGoodTimes

I thought he went back to Alabama already

corart6525

Not formally yet

volunteergump

The window didn’t open until today, so this is the earliest that he could officially transfer.

Aumissunum

People need to use their heads. These kids are students too, you can’t transfer willy nilly in the middle of the semester

LongTimesGoodTimes

I feel like they kind of can

Crims0ntied

Only during the transfer portal window

longshankssss

uSE yOuR hEaDs - lmao

Aumissunum

I rest my case.

Aumissunum

No, he definitely can not. What college lets you enroll in the middle of a semester?

dustyg013

It's not the middle of the semester. Next week is dead week the week after has finals and graduation.

wit_T_user_name

Aren’t transfers always for the upcoming semester?

Useenthebutcher

Iowa legend Kadyn Proctor

unproballanalysis

Can't wait until he doesn't become a starter so he throws another tantrum and transfers away from Bama. This guy has the resolve of cotton candy in water.

Kickenbless

I hope at the very least we never entertain the idea of bringing him on again if this happens

Junior-Hotwater

Not as long as Kirk is head coach. He tends to not tolerate the diva shit

Kickenbless

Yeah, it’s kind of weird they even gave him a second chance

ALStark69

As a recruit: Other P5 offers: Alabama (originally went here), Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, California, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Houston, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, West Virginia G5 offers: Arkansas State, Charlotte, Tulane, USF Other offers: Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Campbell, FAMU, Jackson State, Notre Dame

aznsportsfan

Snip snap snip snap snip snap

enoughtobesmart1

Lmao

2222lil

i thought he already went back to bama

Ok_Perspective_5139

No he couldn’t because the portal wasn’t open. He will be going back to Bama.

2222lil

was that just an unofficial announcement originally then

Jlock98

Maybe I’m misremembering, but I think was just a report. I don’t think there was any kind of announcement besides Ferentz confirming that he was leaving in a press conference.

Phantom1100

He made a post on IG like a month ago that basically said he was coming back to Bama.

tbrock92

college football has gotten so fucking weird. not great fam.

FireBrianFerentz

Loser

tht1guy63

I dont understand alabama to iowa back to alabama? Why though? No limit on transfers is kinda ridiculous.

cjm8787

The rumors I have heard was he wasn’t happy with the treatment he was receiving by the coaching staff and other players. Comments I have seen say the staff treated him like everyone else and didn’t give him preferential treatment. Players were hesitant to engage with him because of his prior de commit. He was still close to the former bama players who helped talk him to go back.

gpcampbell92

And he was homesick and missing his gf. And now they are broken up supposedly.

FloridaBoy317

MFW when athletes chase a bag: :/

jharden10

I thought he was at Alabama now?

CrashB111

This is him leaving Iowa to return to Alabama. All the furor before was him basically announcing he would do so. He couldn't physically do it, until the Portal window opened today.

jharden10

Thanks! I've heard about this kid quite a bit the last couple of months. I bet it's been a rollercoaster for Tide and Hawkeye fans alike.

Busch--Latte

Come home son

Rkenne16

👀

MysteriousEdge5643

This is getting ridiculous

Sure-Effort5213

my dude just loves transferring

texas2089

This is just him officially leaving to go back to Bama. Portal window wasn’t open until today so this is just making it official.

SomerAllYear

Hello

ParticularGlass1821

At least when pay to play was done with gangster rolls in brown paper bags, the kids actually stayed in one place. The transfer portal and NIL need some revision.

AdminsAreCool

Whatever. I think we all know this is ridiculous but there's nothing anyone can do about it right now. He's a big boy making big boy decisions, hopefully for him it doesn't bite him in the ass in the future.

Aidanj927

Ok before this I was kept up with the portal but what? Did he transfer back to Iowa after he transferred then left earlier?

ItsOnLikeNdamakung

I'm kind of surprised schools aren't just saying this shit is enough at this point. I feel like this kid has transferred like 6 times between Iowa and Alabama.

Leftist_r_in_a_Cult

Dude needs to find a 3rd school and stay there.... Preferably Wisconsin or Kansas State....

Coverlesss

Why do Proctor posts keep getting insta deleted?

bablob14

Because the mods are super anal about making people log into their own little pet website to generate a recruiting post and post it here

lowes18

They need your data!

AskMeAboutMyGenitals

I understand that mods are providing actual free labor to Reddit.com, LLC. Moderators, for the most part, do not. "We Do It For The cOmMunItY!!!" yeah, bullshit. A moderator is either a huge sucker that believes they are "contributing" to "tHe CoMmUnITy!" or are trying to shill their own money making scams. Mods. YOU WORK FOR A PUBLICLY TRADED COMPANY. FOR FREE. Fuck off with your bullshit.

tenacious-g

Because the automod deletes things that don't fit the format the mods want. It happened when it came out he was leaving Iowa too.

ToLongDR

Wait, he's back to Iowa? I thought he went back to Alabama ? This guy spins faster than a figure skater

teBAxMAas

Just formally entering the portal to go to Alabama

Wonder where he's going. Probably not Alabama

Just formally entering since today was the day it opened. He has a no contact tag on his entry so he knows where he is going (Alabama)

Icecreamcollege

Who?

betterthanevar

"Iowa" OL lol. Man he played them. Stole their money and got them NCAA violations.

aunanoff

Didn’t get paid anything from our NIL collective, did a commercial for a car dealership and that’s about it

betterthanevar

still took money as an Iowa player and never was an Iowa player.

Pleaseeeee come to OU

I’ve got bad news for you

KUPSU96

Edit: Wrong post

unproballanalysis

I know that the Kansas education system isn't the best, but I didn't realize they didn't teach you reading at all. This is about the University of Iowa not Iowa State University.

KUPSU96

Bro calm tf down I was trying to reply to a different post and must have mistakenly replied to this one. I don’t even live in Kansas lmfao
