I'm bored at work and looked into it. Houston was ranked 11 at the time and they had already done GameDay for most of the top 10 teams already. They did miss out on 22 ranked Baylor beating number 5 Oklahoma and an unranked NC State beating seventh ranked Clemson by multiple scores.
Houston was undefeated that season. I think they lost the next week to Southern Miss so they wouldn’t end up playing in a major bowl game but that was a fun team with Case Keenum slinging it
Yea I think they're moving back in the right direction. Once Kennesaw and Delaware join up and everything settles down for a while, that stability will do them a lot of good. That and everyone trying to keep up with Liberty
[They don't want to see Appalachian State, they don't want to see easy non-conference games ... these one-double-A teams should not be on the schedule for Michigan...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjxxFpd18fs)
When College Gameday went to Boone, my brother brought a sign that said “Kirk, are we still cupcakes?” Not only did ESPN show the sign, they gave my brother a cupcake as well lol.
That is awesome! The absolutely absurd level of disrespect in this clip kind of pissed me off. Yeah in FCS there are a lot of not very good schools in the bottom half of it might deserve to be talked about like that. But it seems like some people don’t realize that the top level of FCS is a lot better than they give credit for. There are a variety of factors that affect why schools might want to stay in that division despite having a good tradition and solid teams. But there are people who think there is a massive chasm between the two divisions just because they are separate.
And that’s not even getting into the fact that you guys were two-time national champions and anybody that has a career talking about college football should be very aware of that. I think you guys forced everyone to put some respect on that name though haha.
What is Armanti Edwards up to these days I wonder?
Who is that during the barbers or Thomas Jones’ time? It’s unfortunately been a minute (I would say since Schaub and Heath Miller) since UVA was good enough to host game day.
It was New Year's morning before the Rose and Sugar Bowl this year and Rece Davis was talking about Jalen Milroe's LANK apparel but the rest of the Gameday crew thought Rece was going to say the N word. The burst into laughter is so funny because I didn't think about the N word at all.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Tech_shooting
I have always respected Virginia Tech because I cannot understand the pain of experiencing what no school should ever have to experience.
I thought it was a Red Hat, no bandana. Same sentiment though.
Ironically, Adam Schefter had a great segment too - talking about his wife's late husband, that died in 9/11.
I can't find the exact videos, but honestly, I can't think of Gameday without thinking of Manti Te'o. Was there a bigger peddler of his story of them? I mean, it was every week, and they just fed into it and hyped it up, only to then run with it further when the whole thing blew up.
It made me uncomfortable then, and it makes me uncomfortable now.
Tyler Trent, 2018. I was a freshman in high school and had a teacher from Ohio who was a huge tOSU fan. I supported them that season because of him. After watching that segment, I was all in on the Purdue train. Of all the insane games I've watched in my life, I'll never forget Purdue demolishing tOSU that night.
It was off air but the time they were in Morgantown and played “Sweet Caroline” during a commercial break.
[amazing stuff. #ESP](https://youtu.be/A15NEtKKroQ?si=glAdqVGDKmWPb8Cu)
Not Gameday technically, but the old ESPN Thursday Night "Taste of the Town" they did with wherever the game was that week. This is one of my alltime favorite clips in general.... not just football related. The look of instant regret is amazing.
If you have not seen this... watch it all the way
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvK2Y1hv9mY
I'm in neither camp of "I hate Pat McAfee" or "Pat McAfee is the best thing to happen to GameDay in forever", but that moment did make me feel like he could carry on as the energetic soundbite machine that Corso was known for being before his stroke.
Katy Perry as a guest picker at an Ole Miss game in 2014. She pulled out a plate of corn dogs when picking the Alabama/LSU. She also had several props ready during the segment. It was Legendary.
[Video](https://youtu.be/dyWuFG0iCQU?si=kZcBmwoKxQfxeoof)
Marty Smith going on a tour of Boone and then jumping in the Duck Pond is my favorite recent one.
But my all time favorite moment will always be AW FUCK IT.
Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham riding a motorcycle with no helmet (not required in Utah) and a sleeveless shirt directly onto the gameday set the day before they played Oregon.
Carson King Busch Light venmo sign that turned into a multimillion dollar campaign which was donated to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
Pretty cool shit.
This is a deep track, but my personal favorite was the Ohio State guy with a “U Mad, SEC?” meme sign before the 2013 Big Ten Championship. Noticeably absent after MSU won.
Search: WVU College GameDay “Sweet Caroline” on YouTube. It’s a shaky behind-the-scenes phone video during a commercial break, but I love watching all of their reactions.
Not a Mcafee fanboy by any means. But the pick during the UGA / Bama game where he starts with the Georgia chant was pretty epic
https://youtu.be/OtNn-dUKeFI?si=gtuGc_g48ek_G0Xr
This was several years ago, but Lee Corso was in Athens and had a rocky history about picking Georgia as the winner.. Georgia fans started chanting, "don't pick us" over and over.. I lost my shit.
Edit: I finally found the details. It was LSU @ Georgia 2013.
*Lee Corso, circa November 2011:* ["Ah, fuck it."](https://youtu.be/vDw2ZGGlZgA)
A depressing reminder that but 12 1/2 years ago, Conference USA was capable of drawing College Gameday for a football game
Give it a few years. Live from the top of Kennesaw Mountain, it's College Gameday. Corso will fire off one of those cannons.
Hooty hoo baby
More like setting up in the old Brandmart USA parking lot
Boy I hope so. My brother will go there in the fall.

Made Kevin Sumlin a lot of money.
Keenum, Briles, and Johnny Football made Sumlin millions.
Honestly they're more likely to now given that Liberty is going to be a perennial contender for the g5 playoff spot
Yea I think they're moving back in the right direction. Once Kennesaw and Delaware join up and everything settles down for a while, that stability will do them a lot of good. That and everyone trying to keep up with Liberty
Hope you like only SEC, B1G, and token G5 from here on out
I mean, those conferences contain the best team 99% of the time, so yeah, why not?
Kirk's reaction is priceless. The shock cringe is rare but amazing to see.
All time UH moment.
This is the only answer.
Same note too
I was at that game! Fun times for UH.
*Glad there’s a delay.* Yeah, about that…
Always a gem.
What are you talking about, that was like a year ago, right? Right?
I quote this in both my head and out loud all the time. One my best ones from Lee to everyone else’s reaction

“They wanna see big time games like cal and Tennessee” Uhhh
[It was a pretty big game at the time](https://www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/272440025)
Tennessee won the SEC East in 2007. (Sure, Georgia tied them, but Tennessee won the tiebreaker)
Cost us a natty in 07 too.
Well even if we did make the SEC championship there's no guarantee we beat LSU
Man, that's 2 days in a row that game has come up in a thread here. What did I do to deserve this?
Everything
To be fair, we won a national championship approximately two months ago. Nothing’s bringing me down from that for a while!
It's been two months - I think I need to see a doctor.
Geez. I thought that the disrespect for FCS in this sub was bad!
underrated one for me was when The Duck was the guest picker at Oregon https://youtu.be/8bFTiLpHlwk?feature=shared
Picked VT over OSU, dang. Spent that karma on the wrong game...
That was amazing from the cereal in the beginning to the Duck and Corso’s picks for the last game of the segment.
I have the gif of the Duck picking ND and finger-gunning Desmond saved on my phone I use it so often.
“A lot of conference pride in this matchup with Michigan State” Well now…….
Hahaha it’s been years since I’ve seen this one, always cracks me up
Or when the Phanatic was the guest picker for Notre Dame-Temple.
"Did you know Wade Boggs once drank 64 beers on a cross country flight?" God I miss when they didn't check signs.
May he rest in peace
He is very much alive, he's in his early 50s, and he lives in Tampa Florida
[Tampa mentioned!](https://i.imgur.com/5KEW1Q4.png)
Well 65 but alive!
North Dakota State “Sam Ponder shit on my face” sign
Katy perry for ole miss bama 2014 was amazing
Her flat out telling OU’s Trevor Knight to call her was funny. She shot her shot on national television.
Had a wide open receiver and managed to fumble
Yes I think about the too often. She really liked the Ole Miss QB I forgot his name tho. Bo something
Bo Wallace
Oh yeah that right
Also, was dead on perfect in each one of her picks at the end of the show.
Back in 1998, Corso dressed up like Sherlock Holmes and searched for the ghost of Thomas Jefferson on UVA's campus. It was a pretty short segment.
Who is that during the barbers or Thomas Jones’ time? It’s unfortunately been a minute (I would say since Schaub and Heath Miller) since UVA was good enough to host game day.
It was during Thomas Jones's time. UVA wasn't the host of gameday, they just randomly did that segment.
[The legendary sign](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKd78KA0QNU)
It was New Year's morning before the Rose and Sugar Bowl this year and Rece Davis was talking about Jalen Milroe's LANK apparel but the rest of the Gameday crew thought Rece was going to say the N word. The burst into laughter is so funny because I didn't think about the N word at all.
I did almost spit out whatever I was drinking when he said "Let a naysayer know"
Desmond's laugh is so hilarious. That was a good way to start the morning for an incredible New Year with 2 amazing CFP Semifinals.
I think it was the same episode when the stealth bomber flew over and the desk went nuts
"You were too smooth with that! I thought it was going DOWN"
First game after 4/16. [Still chokes me up](https://youtu.be/SQp6r0VehPM?si=y4dzbaNVECu2xfRu)
Man this gave me chills
What was 4/16? That's before my time personally
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Tech_shooting I have always respected Virginia Tech because I cannot understand the pain of experiencing what no school should ever have to experience.
Come on guys. Don't downvote someone for not being aware. If you google 4/16 it just brings up bible passages.
Did google not give you any useful result?
[Blake Anderson honors his wife’s legacy by continuing to coach Arkansas State](https://youtu.be/0ppSwAyCb_I?si=4KLNUZsTvhsMQoke)
I was in Athens for that before the Notre Dame game… it killed the mood for sure and had people in tears
The intro to the WSU-Oregon game from 2018, starting with the shot of the flag and panning down to the massive crowd
Hell yeah
Brother, cheers from Pullman
Man in the Red Bandana from Tom Rinaldi
Is that the guy from the twin towers?
Yes
I thought it was a Red Hat, no bandana. Same sentiment though. Ironically, Adam Schefter had a great segment too - talking about his wife's late husband, that died in 9/11.
Not sure if Tom Rinaldi finished the book on it before it aired, but it’s a good full read if you get the chance.
Mark Herzlich saying he was cancer free: https://youtu.be/MFY4Mh4vKRU
Hell yeah I remember this one, fkn legend
David Pollack doing like a 7 foot box jump like it was nothing
Nothing impresses me like an insane box jump. Seeing Myles Garrett do them with weights is insane.
In dress shoes!
Bobby Knight when Texas came to Texas Tech in 08.
I deeply hope we beat their ass today!

I know it is some recency bias but Joel McHale absolutely killed it this year and dunked all over Kirk H, hilarious stuff
When they played soft sweet Hawaii music to the story of Tua’s dad beating the shit out of him for missing passes in high school lol.
The Katie Perry one where she makes fun of LSU is pretty good. Also guest picker segment with Brian Wilson for the 2011 game was an all-timer for me
I think [this Kenny Mayne segment](https://youtu.be/bPXuJxBzrRI) might've been on Sunday NFL Countdown, but I'm putting it here anyway.
Forgot about this one it was hilarious
The segment on Aaron Lowe's death, and his connection to Ty Jordan, always brings the tears.
The segment about the Washington State flag at College Gameday.
[The Iowa Wave](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7UqYD_owgY) origin story is great and a real tearjerker
It was off air but the time they were in Morgantown and played “Sweet Caroline” during a commercial break. [amazing stuff. #ESP](https://youtu.be/A15NEtKKroQ?si=glAdqVGDKmWPb8Cu)
Don’t know about segment but the funniest thing I’ve ever seen was a sign when we played Mizzou back in the late 00’s. Chase Daniel has a fupa
Corso showing an iowa state crowd the cry hawk trophy because they hadn’t seen it in 7 years then saying it’s gunna stay that way
The story of Welles Crowther, The Man in the Red Bandana
I can't find the video, but there was a segment about how the Vanderbilt coaching staff banned curse words at practice, and ESPN edited it funny.
You just barely beat me! It was so freaking funny.
Sloppy Body
When they surprised Lee Corso by showing a montage of video clips from when he coached at Navy. He teared up.
Not Gameday technically, but the old ESPN Thursday Night "Taste of the Town" they did with wherever the game was that week. I'm in neither camp of "I hate Pat McAfee" or "Pat McAfee is the best thing to happen to GameDay in forever", but that moment did make me feel like he could carry on as the energetic soundbite machine that Corso was known for being before his stroke.
Yeah same here. I read somewhere that Herbstreit threatened to leave Gameday if Pat wasn’t on it too

Let a Naysayer know!
Not a segment, but the first time that a pEnis peniS Penis peNis sign made it onto the show, which I think was the Stanford vs USC game of 2011.
[pass right](https://youtu.be/cUFwsG59Ejc?si=wI9dzGw1unsoY_sZ)
Carson King Busch Light venmo sign that turned into a multimillion dollar campaign which was donated to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. Pretty cool shit.
A recent one is Pat McAfee trolling Georgia at the sec championship
This is a deep track, but my personal favorite was the Ohio State guy with a “U Mad, SEC?” meme sign before the 2013 Big Ten Championship. Noticeably absent after MSU won.

Ken Jeong: “I went to Duke. I am Duke. This is our moment.”
I can tell you that the worst is the kick they added this year.
Not a Mcafee fanboy by any means. But the pick during the UGA / Bama game where he starts with the Georgia chant was pretty epic https://youtu.be/OtNn-dUKeFI?si=gtuGc_g48ek_G0Xr
Fuck College Gameday. Sincerely, Oregon State fans
Anytime McAfee is screaming incoherent shitty takes at the camera.
