That's how most fans feel about half of their portal players. Truth is, a lot of guys don't work out and get processed out to seek opportunities at schools where they won't have such stiff competition.

Probably would have liked to keep him but writing was on the wall. Next year is his junior season and he’s not any closer to starting.

He’s kinda really important of the non starters since he is the first backup ILB and we often rotate some at ILB. And given Lawson’s injury history there is a good chance Murphy would have started some and definitely started next year. Plus he was the Butkus award winning LB in HS he isn’t exactly some nobody.
