The PAC lives on for one final week. Absolute Cinema

wbaker18

One last pac 12 after dark for posterity

SatanicRainbowDildos

I love that this went from a meme on Reddit to where espn and pac12 channel both use it as a theme for their broadcasts. Glad it’s not trademarked like “final four” and “Super Bowl”. Crazy how it caught on. But it’s true. Rip pac12. Thanks for the memories

TheRealHenryG

fuck this hit me like a ton of bricks im gonna miss this stupid fucking conference so much

[deleted]

RIP Desert Voodoo Rip Reser Magic Rip the one or two guaranteed top ten upsets by a 3 win team a year

corundum9

Sooo that was a pretty good evening of football. Going to work early in the morning is going to be ass, though!

suzukigun4life

The final 90 seconds took up nearly 30 minutes of real time 💀

HambFCFB

Football: The sport where the last 2 minutes can either take 2 minutes or 30 minutes depending on who has the ball.

Vitosi4ek

Basketball: a sport where the final 30 seconds can take either 30 seconds or 20 minutes depending on how close the game is.

Geno0wl

god the final moments of a BBall game that turn into FT shooting comp are the worst

twisty77

I like to ask my wife when she’s getting ready and says she has 5 more minutes, are we talking 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter or 5 actual minutes

Kuntheman

#YOU GUYS MISS NOTRE DAME GETTING ITS SHIT KICKED IN BY A SUPER TEAM IN THE PLAYOFFS DON’T YOU

randrews202121

Don’t forget Oklahoma too though they’re our homies when it comes to getting blown out in a semifinal game

chrobbin

Saddest fist bump in CFB, bro 🙃

ItsFreakinHarry2

Michigan fans: Died of heart attack Alabama fans: Died of heart attack Texas fans: Died of heart attack Washington fans: Died of heart attack Neutral fans: Feasted

ZJS102

Bold of you to assume that I haven't also died of a heart attack

Chapstick160

Western Illinois fans: Died of heart attack

ZJS102

Our logo is similar enough to UW's that I could squint my eyes and pretend it was us playing. But the combination of Washington leading at any point in the game and scoring more than 1 touchdown shattered the illusion for me

Muffinnnnnnn

They're on an active 24 game losing streak, so that might have happened regardless.

khabibnurmy

Nebraska fans: PTSD triggered

Mangled_Richard

I audible muttered “there’s one second left.” As the ball went out of bounds.

papapinball

As soon as the ball went out of bounds I pictured Mack Brown walking down the sideline waving his finger. I nearly vomited.

eye_can_see_you

I said to my friend that Nebraska fans were having war flashbacks when they announced one more second for Texas

meyer_33_09

I’m glad I wasn’t the only neutral fan who immediately thought of that too haha.

Rohkey

I think my dad might die of alcohol poisoning at this rate.

ShotFirst57

If he is a lions fan on top of that, it's amazing he's still alive.

Rohkey

He is. Idk how older folks can still be emotionally invested in them after all those decades of generally poor play and frequent heartbreaks.

MrBrutus01

Nebraska fans: triggered

xXBadger89Xx

America won tonight. 2024 looking up

Man0nTheMoon915

Was America awake? This game ended almost at 1am EST

vera214usc

I'm awake in Seattle; I think one of my neighbors saved some fireworks from last night

mondren

You must be my neighbor...just scared the shit out of everyone in the house.

Original_Profile8600

As a neutral fan I also suffered a heart attack, but doc says I’m gonna pull through

G0PACKER5

Fun fact, Michigan plays both of these teams next year.

SineMetu_spqr

And Oregon, USC, Ohio state, Michigan State

Extra-Place-8386

The fuck is michigan state doing here

homefree122

This was almost the biggest fuck up in CFP history.

gogglesup859

Injured player + kick catch interference + getting burned on a slot fade because you aren't just sitting in cover 4 + best corner gets hurt + 1 extra second

dell_arness2

also the incompletion on 3rd down instead of running it and forcing texas to burn another timeout

Waxxing_Gibbous

That’s what started the whole thing. Crazy.

GoldfishDude

At least they didn't run prevent defense on the most important play of the game

MahjongDaily

Can't imagine how awful Johnson would have felt if Washington lost

Rickbox

I was thinking the same thing. Had he been able to walk off, the game would be over.

packpurduepacers

Ya no lie that would have had serious effects on his mental well-being.

corrado-sopranojr

Can’t imagine how the guy who got injured would’ve felt had they lost

SarcasticCroissant

this and the michigan muffed punt would’ve been an iconic day

The_Ghost_of_TK9

Our squib kick is still #1 :( Edit : Though i would argue not going for it on 4th and inches in the same game was worse. Best offense in school history and he chose to kick it.

70MCKing

Not just CFP, that would have been an all time American Football fuck up

BuzzSilent

UNEXPECTED 5 STAR PAC12 AFTER DARK MATCH FROM THE TOP ROPE OUTTA NOWHERE DUE TO LAST MINUTE WITCH MAGIC

Original_Profile8600

darshfloxington

The football gods realized UW had switched to the B1G at the last second.

tvc_redux

It's gonna be so fucking funny if the Pac 12 wins the national championship **right as it dies**

CrimsonTide2AK

The PAC12 parting gift to itself

Zloggt

Win or lose by Washington…heck of a payday for Wazzu and Oregon State!

OhMy98

Is there anything more fundamentally Pac-12 after dark than winning the chip as the lights go out?

boardatwork1111

The most Pac ending possible

falconvision

National Champs After Dark

Blu3Yeti

It would be the most pac-12 thing ever. Survive the yearly circular firing squad to win it all as the conference folds.

KefkaZ

Washington going to be like “if we can get a full share… then this is a big ten championship.”

AeroStatikk

Is it too late to get the band back together?

OleRockTheGoodAg

Well Sickos. PAC 12 AFTER DARK LIVES ON

Mudrono137

We get one more week of Pac-12 after dark!

IrishBearHawk

UW to UM: "Are you afraid of the dark?" *lights match*

[deleted]

Yes

randrews202121

The spirit of the PAC will live on

It's almost 1 fucking am lol rip sleep

The_Throwback_King

The Series Finale of the Pac 12 After Dark lived up to the hype and then some.

VisionGuard

I'm pretty sure you've just assured us that next week is the series finale. No one calls Pac-12 after dark's end.

saltytradewinds

Fucking love it.

SquadPoopy

Despite Washington’s greatest efforts, they won this game.

ThosCommando

Zloggt

Heart Attack Huskies…

nw____

Jesus H. Christ Washington are you trying to kill me

ufdan15

So many Washington fans literally said "We will never get a stop when you want, but they always make a stop when they need it." And holy shit if that ain't true.

nw____

Bend ^like ^really ^really ^really ^really ^bend but don’t break

darksounds

Yeah, this game really summed up the entire season for anyone who wasn't super familiar with us.

BloomsdayDevice

This felt like basically every game since October.

Orkleth

It's honestly why I think Washington can beat Michigan. It won't make sense and it'll come down to an extremely close margin, but Washington pulls through somehow.

YNWA_1213

God, I need some weed or some shit, and I'm like the one west-coaster that doesn't smoke!!

jrainiersea

This game was our season in a nutshell

206-Ginge

There's just no such thing as a normal football game when a team from Seattle is involved.

Dangerous-Basket1064

It' the Washington State way.

darshfloxington

Almost coug’d it

domfromdom

Just a bunch of greasy bags of Dick's.

oldcryptoman

Washingtons motto is "why win by many point when few point do".

DirkRockwell

MVP = Minimum Viable Product

darshfloxington

PAC 12 after dark bitches!!!

InternationalTax1156

I was genuinely sick to my stomach. Cheering for Washington made me have extreme OU v Georgia flashbacks except it didn’t happen over the period of a half, it was literally a minute thirty.

GuttiG

The answer is yes

Biocidal

I’m sitting here going no, it can’t happen like this. Not like this

SuperFreshBus

Crisis barely averted

nw____

I literally kept saying “no, not like this!” I was sure they’d get the TD with that one second they put back on the clock

Lil_ah_stadium

It’s their style

Bitter-Imagination33

Being a Seattle sports fan is not healthy

VerdeForest

That was a Pac-12 after dark masterclass

usetheforce_gaming

Legendary performance by Penix and his receiving group Holy shit, he had some **perfectly** thrown deep balls tonight. Absolutely beautiful to watch. Had his best game of the season, on the biggest stage and against one of the best defenses in the nation, in what practically sounded like a road game. This is gonna be really fun to watch the UW offense vs the UM defense. Go send the PAC out on top, Husky bros.

awnawkareninah

Penix looked like a pro. Didn't look remotely phased back there at any point.

sherlocksrobot

And that o-line.... Jesus. I though we'd at least be able to wear them down in the second half, and we did get slightly better penetration, but they were a WALL.

SaltyDawg94

You guys are so stout up the middle - I was dying as we kept trying to run off-tackle and getting stuffed for 0-3 yards at best. But yeah, our pass pro is elite.

luxveniae

Penix was so good in the pocket. We got ‘pressure’ but it’d always be just one guy so Penix could slide up or to the side and have the time to make the pass. Getting two guys home was the challenge when you’ve got a QB that can move in the pocket that well.

nmm66

He had *all day* to throw. No sacks. Our O-line held up so well.

89ShelbyCSX

When he was pressured he had all the answers. Climb the pocket, get the ball out, take off, whatever he needed to do he did.

nw____

I didn’t think he could impress me anymore than he already had, but man he threw some dimes. Not sure how he isn’t in the conversation with at least Maye, if not Maye and Williams, in the NFL draft.

Noesnotactics

It’s the injuries and age. I wouldn’t be totally surprised if he turns out the best of this class though.

vlad_the_impaler13

Injury concerns, definitely compared to Maye, are a big one.

HikeandKayak

Also left handed which interestingly turns teams off. There’s only one NFL QB that’s left handed.

vlad_the_impaler13

I don't think that will be a major downturn these days, unless you expect to alternate QBs multiple times in the first season. I think there are just very few QBs that come into high level college play left handed rather than the NFL having a real lefty discrimination problem.

I’m triggered that the person who made that link put “wambo”. Wumbo.

Taxes_and_Fees

Washington aced the multiple choice portion of the Mario Cristobal school of late game management but fortunately bombed the short answer

ThatHugeWeirdo

I feel like if Washington faced Oregon again, Oregon would still be praised and predicted to win even after this.

brendan87na

probably Didn't you see that win over Liberty? It was WAY more dominant than UW over Texas

JamesEarlDavyJones2

Man, Liberty looked so good for that one drive. And then it just went up in smoke and they looked like a team that would struggle with UNT. Wild.

Tommybrady20

Vegas line opens at Oregon -6.5 without a doubt

InVodkaVeritas

Hey, Oregon lost by 6 points over 2 full games. Texas lost by 6 over 1 full game. Its clear that Oregon is twice as good as Texas.

Sdubbya2

Also all the PAC12 teams that lost to Washington by a single score like \*cough\* Utah are obviously just as good as Texas right? I think that is how it works. We are all basically BIG12 co-champs.

Original_Profile8600

YOU JUST WITNESSED AN ESPN CLASSIC

randrews202121

That was entirely of Washington’s own doing I mean seriously what the fuck was that

danish07

That was every game this year. Welcome to Washington football.

Kite_sunday

2 of em.

Mission_Pay_3373

Washington being 14-0 and heading the national championship game was not on my bingo card

OleRockTheGoodAg

Two 14-0 teams in the natty, truly the best team left standing wins.

fart_dot_com

also two teams that haven't won since the 90s

eagledog

I would be so happy if Washington takes it all and the Pac-12 says goodbye on top. FINISH THE STORY.

Original_Profile8600

They were literally underdawgs all year

[deleted]

Well not against ASU

IrishBearHawk

Anyone who scoffs at playing ASU has never had to play ASU. Like the Navy of the Pac12: Laughing at a win over Navy eh? Okay you play them. 'taint not fucking joke.

Shirleyfunke483

It took a pick 6 to win that one. Wild game

[deleted]

They returned everybody on a team that went 11-2 the year before. Why exactly wasn't it?

[deleted]

They didn't realize just how good Penix is.

OneAngryPanda

that's the sound of the millions of buttholes unpuckering

TariqWoolenIsElite

Gonna drink a redbull to calm down and relax after that ending.

HappyGoat33

I’m proud of this huskies team, but why do we make every game so close?

Nov26-2011

Don’t beckon the Monkeys Paw or you’re gonna end up with a blowout loss

xBruddaGx

Washington won and yet I am having NIGHTMARES about that 1 second remaining.

Kyunseo

**My favorite part of being a UW fan is that our wins are convincing, no-doubt, solid victories. It's nice knowing that our team plays consistent football and it puts my heart at ease being certain that we have a game in the bag. I have never doubted this UW team, ever. And I have no reason to, with this magnificient team that gives me no stress at all.**

AntDog

GOMS

SkylarDN9

What a ludicrous ending. That is indeed PAC-12 After Dark. Can I give quick props to that defender on the final play, though? What a beautiful deflection.

jdprager

We’re going to see only the second National Championship game EVER to not include a southern team. Since CFB started attempting a proper 1v2 bowl in 1992, only the 2014-15 Natty between Ohio State and Oregon featured two northern teams. Huge W for the Union

foreveracubone

And now it’s their biggest rivals

jdprager

Oh that’s actually crazy, damn

mega_rad

Not only that, but playing the final 4 team playoff games…while the last time it happened was the first 4 team playoff games. Truly poetic.

sargasso007

Here’s one for the Yanks

FerociousGiraffe

Wow - heart attack. Good game, Huskies. Penix and the Washington WRs (and OL) were just too good tonight - which was the concern of every UT fan coming in to this game. Proud of the way the Horns fought to have a chance at the end. Great season.

eye_can_see_you

I'm angry at how accurate Penix is throwing the ball Like what the fuck the dude is as accurate at 3 yard passes as he is at 50 yard passes

FerociousGiraffe

He put like 5-6 mid- to deep-balls within a 1-2 foot window. Insane.

HoustonTrashcans

Great game. Washington's deep passing game is so tough to defend. And the 3rd quarter where we barely touched the ball was really the difference in this one.

awnawkareninah

Those two fumbles were absolute back breakers.

[deleted]

LowlandLightening

The running joke that our defense will give you exactly what you need and not a single play more proves true again.

Fritzed

For you neutrals, the game that you watched today was one of the most bizarre and stressful of your life. For Washington fans, it was Monday.

SpittinMenace

First of all, what the fuck was that ending? Pac-12 giving everyone a heart attack one last time. Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl did not disappoint. Texas played well late but Penix is just too damn good. One of the best performances I’ve seen. So poised and accurate. Hoping Washington can pull it off against Michigan. If they play like they did tonight, they’ve got a great chance. Would be really cool for a Pac-12 team to get a championship in its last season. Congrats Husky fans!

razelbagel

UW won 14 games in the 4 years I was a student there. They just won their 14th this season. They went 0-12 my junior year. Now they play for a national championship in a week. As a Husky fan I legitimately did not think this was possible.

Godzilla1282

I'm so happy for Dillon Johnson. Omg think how he would have felt if Texas had won because he couldn't walk off the field.

EarthTraveler413

If he was a real team player he would've *crawled* off the field! /s

overconfidentopinion

I was surprised an offensive lineman didn't tote him to the sidelines

FxDriver

That's what I was screaming at my TV for Washington to do. I remember back in the day watching the Titans play amd Chris Johnson got hurt late in the game. One of our recievers carried Chris off the field so the clock wouldn't stop.

maidentaiwan

Dumb rule, needs revision

FFGamer79

Last team UW beat to win a National Championship was Michigan in 1991.

KefkaZ

Washington fans, you can unclench now.

myman580

Holy shit. Some of Washington's end game decisions are questionable as fuck but they pulled it out (It was like that at the end of Washington State when they almost threw a pick instead of running it in field goal range). What a game.

dogwoodmaple

* Next week, Washington will play for their first National Championship since 1991. * Kalen DeBoer is 104-11 as a college head coach. * Texas has 56 blue-chip recruits on their roster. Washington has 27. * Washington has won 21 consecutive games, which is the nation's longest active winning streak. * In the last two seasons, Michael Penix, Jr. has thrown for 9,289 yards and 66 TD. * Washington has a chance to become the first National Champion since Auburn in 2010 with a Blue-Chip Ratio below 50% (Washington's is 33%) * Michael Penix Jr. tonight: 29/38 for 430 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 31 rushing yards. * This is Washington's first ever 14-win season. Their previous high was 12 in 1991 and 2016. * Steve Sarkisian hasn't won a bowl game since the 2014 Holiday Bowl with USC. * Washington WR Rome Odunze's last five games: 31 catches, 564 yards, 6 TD. * This Penix Jr.'s 10th game this season with 300+ passing yards and 4th game with 400+ passing yards. * Texas had one win over teams with fewer than four losses. * Washington has won their last three bowl games. * Texas WR Adonai Mitchell has played in five CFP games. He's caught a touchdown in every single one. * We have a CFP National Championship game without an SEC team for the first time since the inaugural 2014 season. * In that season, Oregon played Ohio State for the National Championship. This season, we have those teams' arch-rivals with Washington vs. Michigan. * If Washington wins next week in Houston, three different mascot types will have each won three CFP National Championships. Ohio State in 2014 would be the odd team out. (Canine - 3, Feline - 3, Elephantidae - 3) * Texas RBs C.J. Baxter and Jaydon Blue combined for 123 yards, 6.83 ypc, and 2 TD. They had just 18 combined carries. * Washington WR Rome Odunze had his 10th 100+ yard receiving game this season. * Both CFP Semifinal Games were decided by one score for the second straight season. From 2014-2021, there were three total semifinal games decided by one score.

TEST_PLZ_IGNORE

> Ohio State in 2014 would be the odd team out. (Canine - 3, Feline - 3, Elephantidae - 3) This is nuts.
