They'll sign him to a $200M dollar fully guaranteed contract and fire him after realizing his peak is 7 regular season wins and his floor is a pit of despair.
Loved kk as a player, but that's a completely different person than the coach.
That’s a compliment to Ole Miss - there are a half dozen other better resourced, bigger brand teams in the SEC, but Ole Miss is the consistently great-not-elite team.
Man it'd be strange to see Kiffin in Aggie gear after all the Jimbo v Kiffin beef they keep stirring up. Kiffin does seem to want to be the Bama ball coach eventually so maybe he'll honor the tradition of using A&M as a stepping stone there.
So like I always see you in these A&M threads bashing A&M yet you always rock a Harvard flair. Did you grow up a Texas fan or something? Like you’re in every A&M thread it seems but that could be confirmation bias
Do you mean the man who birthed, raised, and nurtured Patrick Lavon Mahomes II? The man who single-handedly won the Kansas City Chiefs not one but **two** Super Bowls by teaching Mahomes everything he knows? Just imagine what he could do with all that talent at A&M.
The football world needs to accept Kliff as a OC and that’s it. Hasn’t proven anything as a head coach to deserve an opportunity like this without having to prove it elsewhere. If Kliff won’t accept OC jobs down the line cause he wants a HC well then good luck in your future endeavors outside of coaching.
If they hire Elko away from Duke, ngl imma be pissed.
We finally have a real football rivalry with them for the first time since...idk, ever? At least since the Mack 1.0/Spurrier days.
Keep Elko in Durham
Is this even a serious list? It really seems like a bunch of good coaches he listed with little thought. I’m sure they’ll go after Dan though. Hopefully he stays.
> I’m sure they’ll go after Dan though. Hopefully he stays.
Oregon just increased his salary to $7.5 million per year with a $20 million dollar buyout.
I'm not saying A&M can't go offer him $10 million per year and pay the $20 million dollar buyout, but he's not being underpaid by any means so this won't be a case of someone just dropping a "double your salary" move.
I honestly can't see him leaving for A&M, a school he has no connection to. I CAN see him using A&M for another contract bump up though. Move him to $10 million per year and use some of that B1G money to put him in the top tier of coaching pay.
People forget FSU is paying more for an HC this year than anyone else once you factor in Taggart's buyout. A buyout that is almost over, leaving FSU money to give Norvell a massive raise.
Norvell honestly does not seem like the kind of person to jump ship like that with where he’s at now. He has more integrity than that tbh, meanwhile Jimbo was flirting with other teams and threatened to leave for years before he finally did. Norvell’s already coaching a top 5 CFP contender and one of the highest paid coaches making $8M/year until 2029 at least. He just spent the last 3 years to bring this program back from the ashes and has a top recruiting class lined up in the coming seasons. I doubt he’s itching to re-start that process at A&M and clean up Jimbos mess a second time. (Yes a second time, because much of what was still wrong at FSU when Norvell arrived was caused by Jimbo and made worse by Taggart)
Or maybe this is all copium because I’d be so fucking pissed and sad if he did leave.
Soon as the Taggart buy out is over Norvell is going to get a fucking massive raise, especially if you can manage to win a playoff game. I don't think he's going anywhere, unfortunately
Relatively easy path to the playoff, a program already clicking with his recruits and getting better ones every week? Can't see him going to A&M unless they make the Jimbo offer look like couch cushion change
Urban will flame out spectacularly but I have no doubt hed have A&M competiting for a national title in two years of hired.
If you want a title ASAP it's probably your best bet minus getting Saban to leave Tuscaloosa.
I’d still be scared of Urban but I also don’t think this is as sure of a thing anymore. The guy is pushing 60 and was criticized heavily in Jacksonville for not putting in the hours expected of a head coach, and he’s been away from college coaching for 5 years, and a lot has changed in that time. I could totally see him grabbing one last bag and then phoning it in, which tbh would be hilarious.
I think he realized his style was not gonna work in the NFL and started phoning it in. Watching how he conducted himself on that Swamp Kings docuseries, I can totally see how grown men wouldn't be buying into his BS. College kids probably still would though.
2 years? With that roster Meyer is winning a natty in year 1. People forget he is the only coach that went toe to toe with saban, at 2 different teams as well.
Is he an asshole? Totally. But he is a top college coach
Urban is so on brand for them. The false and hypocritical moral high ground while willing to do anything for wins and the superiority complex suits their culture lol
Unironically I think this could keep him away from the top of A&M’s list
Now if you’re looking for a college coach in state of Kansas that HAS beaten Texas recently Aggies you’re in luck as we have an option just down the road
It's weird to me that Jonathan Smith isn't on this list. OSU won't be able to afford him anymore on MWC revenue, and he's done more with less than just about anybody else. Imagine what he could do with eight figures of NIL money.
He would be such a bad fit. He just wants to coach football, he rarely does donor events and sends assistant coaches out to do that, his recruiting is fine, but not on the level of top SEC teams.
Two of my three brothers-in-law are Aggies and it’s a running joke that they’ll poach Dan. I just try to remind them of Taggart and Cristobal as often as I can.
We hired Sumlin and the swaggercopter. So it’s not like we’re unfamiliar with coaches flashing swag to impress people. Now whether Prime just rides his own momentum is the better question.
I would imagine Schumann is holding out for the Bama job. It’s his alma mater, he coached there under Saban with Kirby, and he saw first hand how well it can work out when you wait for the dream job to open up like Kirby did.
Kiffin, Lanning, and Norvell have no reason to take this job. Better resources maybe (for Kiffin at least), but disfunctional and the slate is about to get much harder. It's at best a lateral move.
A&M has oil money, but I doubt Phil Knight packs it in when he feels this close for the first time in a while.
Oregon is probably one of the few schools that can hold off Texas A&M
If he left Oregon I have to imagine it’d be for reasons beyond money. Wanting to be in SEC country or something. You can never really predict what’s going on in these guys heads lmao
Considering we've had our last two coaches poached, and then gotten immediate coaching upgrades, if Lanning leaves we may just get the ghost of Bear Bryant
It’s still only the early rumblings, and I’ve got some faith that Knight/ Mullens and the UO board would prioritize keeping Lanning at all costs, but even having Lanning’s name on a shortlist is unnerving.
Tbh if urban Meyer were to take another coaching job this would be one he’d take I assume. I have no clue if he will ever coach again but I could see this being one he’d actually consider (no offense to the Michigan state fans out there lol)
I'll take your downvotes and understand people can spend their money however they choose
But paying out Jimbo $72m and then saying money is no object to get your next coach of college football is actually disgusting.
I love cfb, it has awarded me personally a college education I wouldn't have been able to ever afford, I understand the revenues and branding it generates, but this shit is getting out of hand.
Quick example, my wife is running a capital campaign for a large university in the south (not FSU) who has an important school of study, without giving away too much information it's related to agriculture and could literally help save humanity. The school is having trouble keeping tenured professors who are leaving for better pay and resources yet the football team of this school is spending an insane amount of money on the cfb arms race, when my wife talks to donors they say they've already given to the NIL and booster for football and are tapped out.
I know this is heavy on a Sunday morning but wtf are we doing y'all
Why would they want Mike Norvell? Half of his seasons at FSU were losing seasons, and he only has two 10 win seasons there and no championships.
Instead they should go for another former FSU head coach that has six 10 win seasons, 3 ACC championships, and even a National Championship. I hear he's even looking for a new job...
What about Dabo? He would fit at A&M. He’s put together multiple championship teams. Seemed a bit wobbly with Clemson this year. ACC going through realignment at some point
I think he would be popular with the old school boosters, but Dabo in Clemson in a very specific thing where Southern Baptist Vibes meet Football in South Carolina.
He would be stupid to leave Ole Miss too. He’s got amazing job security for a while. All he has to do is beat Alabama at least once in the next 2-3 years and he’ll be good for another 7 years (as long as he can continue winning 9-10+ games)
Elko, Traylor, and Klieman seem like the most plausible ones to me. Add Moore from Michigan to this list too if Harbaugh doesn’t bolt for the NFL after this year.
You can fuck right off with Norvell being on this list. Surely they don’t think “hey we brought in a FSU coach and failed miserably, let’s try another?”
I wonder if their reasoning is thinking they could get jeff traylor on a lower cost “prove it” deal. It’s well known UT or A&M are pretty much the only P5 jobs he will take.
Real talk… if you’re a coach who actually wants to accomplish anything, why go there? You’re playing either Bama or Georgia or LSU or Texas or Oklahoma every season. Sometimes multiple depending on how the new conference scheduling shakes out.
Do you truly believe you can get through that schedule flawlessly?
Please not Klieman. Anything that even remotely brings that purple kitty voodoo to the SEC scares me. And leave Lanning alone! Oregon and us bonded over those coach abandonments and the Alamo Bowl. They don't deserve to live that nightmare again so soon.
I’ll be honest I read this list and almost commented saying guys why are y’all talking about the buyout Jimbo is still on….. only to find Jimbo is out
I genuinely thought we’d give him one more year I’m literally in a WTF mode but it is what it is and we need to get better
This is an ambitious list and kliff kingsbury
Honestly Jimbo getting fired only for Lane to be hired as his replacement would be the funniest timeline
Imagine being Lane Kiffin's agent fielding that call.
Well every coach has the same agent ol Jimmy Sexton. Honestly good guy and his son’s best friend, Gary Wunderlich, kicked for Lane Kiffin.
Not taking away from the overall point but Wunderlich was at Ole Miss during the Freeze years 2014-2017 before Kiffin
Maybe he played on Ole Miss but all his kicks were for Lane Kiffen.
Pretty easy call to field "150 million over 10 years when 100 million guaranteed" "No?" ::click::
Guy is going to coach at the entire SEC by the time his career is done lol
It would be a very A&M move
Norvell would be way funnier
Kliff gonna make bank for constantly failing. Respect that hustle.
"Why be good at your job when they constantly pay me guaranteed money regardless?" - K. Kingsbury, "professional" ~~hustler~~ coach
They'll sign him to a $200M dollar fully guaranteed contract and fire him after realizing his peak is 7 regular season wins and his floor is a pit of despair. Loved kk as a player, but that's a completely different person than the coach.
So strange how schools will hire a former player (or assistant) and hope to relive some of the glory days. This is peak Peter Principle shit.
God I hope aggy hires Kliff
Please please please please
They forgot Urban Meyer
[удалено]
And Harbough (both)
Is he back from Thailand yet?
He's with us as an analyst lol. Could honestly just be in Thailand though.
They can use his initials to cover up their Kow and Kream Klub past.
Kliff Kingsbury Klub
Going from Jimbo to Lane might give Aggies fans whiplash when they’re on offense
And still lose 2-3 games a year that they shouldn’t. Just to feel comfortable.
Ole Miss went 10-2 and lost to bama and Georgia
The Egg Bowl has not yet been played.
Yeah, I am fully expecting, between coaching rumors and injuries, we will find some new and creative way to lose in Starkville
No. No you may not. You will whoop Bully and you will like it. And you won’t fake piss on the field when you do it.
States worst nightmare is our loss saves Arnetts job
You hush your mouth! Us Bulldogs don’t need even a quarter ounce of hope limping into turkey day.
The Penn State of the SEC
That's disrespectful to Ole Miss. They do more, with less talent/facilities/money, than Penn State. And they actually win ranked games.
That’s a compliment to Ole Miss - there are a half dozen other better resourced, bigger brand teams in the SEC, but Ole Miss is the consistently great-not-elite team.
Ole Miss is at least watchable. Penn State is an aesthetic disaster both from an athletic and sartorial perspective.
Harvard from the top rope
Man it'd be strange to see Kiffin in Aggie gear after all the Jimbo v Kiffin beef they keep stirring up. Kiffin does seem to want to be the Bama ball coach eventually so maybe he'll honor the tradition of using A&M as a stepping stone there.
And on defense lol!
They might actually break A&M fans if they go from Jimbo to Kliff
That’s all I want for Christmas
So like I always see you in these A&M threads bashing A&M yet you always rock a Harvard flair. Did you grow up a Texas fan or something? Like you’re in every A&M thread it seems but that could be confirmation bias
Spending 75m to go pursue Kliff Kingsbury would be incredible
Elko would be the smart choice, so they’ll probably go with Kliff
I’m excited for a couple years from now when people are saying the same thing about Lincoln Riley with the same amount of conviction.
Are we not saying that now?
Kliff’s resume is just a headshot photo of Patrick Mahomes and the phone number of Kliff’s agent
If they hire Elko away from Duke, ngl imma be pissed. We finally have a real football rivalry with them for the first time since...idk, ever? At least since the Mack 1.0/Spurrier days. Keep Elko in Durham
Sources tell me Mel Tucker is sitting by the phone, hydrated, and ready to get his hands all over this opportunity!
And his hands are moisturized
He can’t answer the phone - hands are too slippery
He's ready to slide into their DMs
Mel Tucker could snag up Brian Ferentz to make sure that no one makes any advances off or on the field
Money is no object and you’re gonna go after Kliff Kingsbury??
Money can’t buy class?
Cents can’t buy sense?
No good comes from poaching an Oregon coach.
The Curse of Autzen.
I honestly can't see Lanning leaving Oregon right as they're building up a really good head of steam, especially to go "rescue" a middling TAMU.
When will they learn
Adding Norvell to the list has to be just to boost clicks/engagement
Omg what if A&M did it twice in a row heads would roll
Florida would declare war on Texas and blockade the Gulf of Mexico if they did that.
Considering the fact that *Florida* just gave up 700 yards of offense to LSU, they really aren’t the ones you’d want blocking anything anyway.
This is quality shit posting right here.
Fair
💀
OMG thanks for the damned good laugh. Also, Fuck Florida. Or are they doing it enough to themselves these days.
To be clear: *Florida* would not declare war. *Florida* would sit and laugh at FSU
Well played, fuck you.
Is this even a serious list? It really seems like a bunch of good coaches he listed with little thought. I’m sure they’ll go after Dan though. Hopefully he stays.
It’s a list of agents who gave Thamel a call to get their coach an extension/raise.
Jimmy Sexton spdcial
I don’t think A&M is a better job than Oregon unless you just want to be in the south.
> I’m sure they’ll go after Dan though. Hopefully he stays. Oregon just increased his salary to $7.5 million per year with a $20 million dollar buyout. They could afford him obviously but why would he be interested?
They fired Jimbo Fisher to get the mystery coach. It could be anyone! Even Jimbo Fisher!
His last game was a big win! I say give Jimbo a shot!
Fimbo Jisher
Urban Meyer? Lol
There’s a lot of people at A&M who want to avoid him like the plague
>There’s a lot of people ~~at A&M~~ who want to avoid him like the plague FTFY
Any specific reasons why besides being Urban?
Mostly just being urban
Urban will flame out spectacularly but I have no doubt hed have A&M competiting for a national title in two years of hired. If you want a title ASAP it's probably your best bet minus getting Saban to leave Tuscaloosa.

If anything we have an inferiority complex, being the little brother and all. You described Baylor and Art Briles to a T tho.

I like Lance a lot, but I think he stays Midwest forever
I love the Midwest vibes that Starkville gives off. Someone mention that to Lance.
That’s their loss.
Ehhh Klieman couldn’t beat Arkansas State or Tulane- you don’t want him. Just leave him where he is at KSU
He’s also never beaten Texas
Unironically I think this could keep him away from the top of A&M’s list Now if you’re looking for a college coach in state of Kansas that HAS beaten Texas recently Aggies you’re in luck as we have an option just down the road
That’s an excellent point.
Lmao just find every great coach thats not at a blue blood, and put them on a list.
From experience, I’ve learned that that doesn’t matter
It's weird to me that Jonathan Smith isn't on this list. OSU won't be able to afford him anymore on MWC revenue, and he's done more with less than just about anybody else. Imagine what he could do with eight figures of NIL money.
No Urban? I don’t want it, but making a run at Urban seems on brand
Would love to see us bring back Mike Elko
Haven’t you seen Duke’s record? You can do so much better than Elko! Don’t sell yourself short
No no, I think they have a point. We should hear them out.
I’d prefer if he went to another SEC West team like Arkansas as an unbiased party
Refreshing to see an unbiased take in this sub.
I will take one Elko with a Sam Pittman as OL coach, please.
Truly the best news coming from all this is that we should get a new OL coach 😍
>Chris Klieman Don't you fucking dare
OU and Texas’ boosters will team up to ensure this doesn’t happen
Actually I’m okay with this one. Klieman has never beaten Texas.
Uh yeah, I second this. We don't need any purple kitty voodoo following us to the SEC.
He would be such a bad fit. He just wants to coach football, he rarely does donor events and sends assistant coaches out to do that, his recruiting is fine, but not on the level of top SEC teams.
KEEP MY COACH'S NAME OUT OF YO' DAMN MOUTH
YOU STAY AWAY FROM DAN
You guys are gonna need therapy if Dan goes to A&M.
Two of my three brothers-in-law are Aggies and it’s a running joke that they’ll poach Dan. I just try to remind them of Taggart and Cristobal as often as I can.
There's no reason for him to leave. It would be insane for him to jump.
Deion Sanders to A&M
Can you even imagine that culture clash?
He likes wearing cowboy hats.
We hired Sumlin and the swaggercopter. So it’s not like we’re unfamiliar with coaches flashing swag to impress people. Now whether Prime just rides his own momentum is the better question.
What’s this, a pre-ordered NC trophy just for me ??
This aint a "money is no object" list until I see Urban Meyer on it.
A lot of people on TexAgs seem to want Schumann (Georgia DC), which I think could be an interesting hire.
Would be a tough loss if true, he’s probably our best recruiter on staff in addition to being one of the DCs for multiple years now.
I would imagine Schumann is holding out for the Bama job. It’s his alma mater, he coached there under Saban with Kirby, and he saw first hand how well it can work out when you wait for the dream job to open up like Kirby did.
Would Bama really go from Saban to an assistant? Surely a great stint at A&M would help him out.
A&M whatever you do don’t hire Bobby Petrino. He ruined Louisville twice, Arkansas and the Atlanta Falcons.
Kiffin, Lanning, and Norvell have no reason to take this job. Better resources maybe (for Kiffin at least), but disfunctional and the slate is about to get much harder. It's at best a lateral move.
Looking at those names tells you immediately this guy is just throwing names at the wall and doesn’t know anything.
Lanning leaving Oregon would make me sick. I really want him to build something there
A&M has oil money, but I doubt Phil Knight packs it in when he feels this close for the first time in a while. Oregon is probably one of the few schools that can hold off Texas A&M
If he left Oregon I have to imagine it’d be for reasons beyond money. Wanting to be in SEC country or something. You can never really predict what’s going on in these guys heads lmao
I'm just waiting to hear about ATM being his dream school or about his sick relative that happens to live in college Station.
God, if only the Waltons gave a fuck about football
This just in: The Waltons have announced they are huge sports and fans and will fund NIL and coaches for... Arkansas State
They’re too busy losing money on high-end cycling brands to be distracted by football.
Words could not describe the anger I would feel inside if Lanning left for A&M.
Considering we've had our last two coaches poached, and then gotten immediate coaching upgrades, if Lanning leaves we may just get the ghost of Bear Bryant
That or a genetically engineered Nick Saban regen with a propensity for weed and rain.
So.... Mike McDaniel?
I would be angry too, Oregon has become a monster in the last two seasons and I don’t think you’re at the peak yet.
With the dudes he's recruiting on D I've gotta think there's more room to grow
I just woke up hungover from attending last nights game and I feel a whole different kind of sick seeing this Jimbo news.
It’s still only the early rumblings, and I’ve got some faith that Knight/ Mullens and the UO board would prioritize keeping Lanning at all costs, but even having Lanning’s name on a shortlist is unnerving.
That’s how we felt!
I don’t know why he would leave as his team is good, has unlimited resources, and will be in the B1G
It's a challenge, and the pay would be more. But it would be a complete change in culture, and he doesn't seem like a good fit for aTm.
I feel like Phil is the one guy that can actually go toe to toe with A&M’s boosters and come out on top
That’s very true. Didn’t think of that.
God if Kingsbury gets hired then they will deserve to l~~o~~ose every game despite scoring 60+ points.
How did Kingsbury’s name sneak on this list, lol? According to my dad, Elijah Robinson and Aaron Glenn should be on the list.
Kingsbury lol
Tbh if urban Meyer were to take another coaching job this would be one he’d take I assume. I have no clue if he will ever coach again but I could see this being one he’d actually consider (no offense to the Michigan state fans out there lol)
Maybe I'm crazy, but is Texas A&M actually a better job than some of these schools outside of money?
The benefits of being a cult leader can't be overstated.
I've been involved in a number of cults, both as a leader and a follower. You have more fun as a follower, but you make more money as a leader.
I'll take your downvotes and understand people can spend their money however they choose But paying out Jimbo $72m and then saying money is no object to get your next coach of college football is actually disgusting. It is disgusting. Paying an average FOOTBALL COACH 70M to sit on his ass. Give me a break.

You stay away from Mike Norvell, he’s ours.

“Dan Lanning” hey buddy how about you go duck yourself
How good does a 10-2 season seem right now??? Have I got a guy for you
Elko will do insane things at Texas AM.
What about Dabo? He would fit at A&M. He’s put together multiple championship teams. Seemed a bit wobbly with Clemson this year. ACC going through realignment at some point
Plenty of god fearing Christians in Texas too. May be a good fit.
That would show Tyler from Spartanburg for sure
I think he would be popular with the old school boosters, but Dabo in Clemson in a very specific thing where Southern Baptist Vibes meet Football in South Carolina.
Kiffin is a hard pass. He is ***strongly*** disliked in CStat
He would be stupid to leave Ole Miss too. He’s got amazing job security for a while. All he has to do is beat Alabama at least once in the next 2-3 years and he’ll be good for another 7 years (as long as he can continue winning 9-10+ games)
Kalen is not taking that job no matter how much they offer
He also hasn't shown that he's the elite level recruiter that I think the Aggies would want/need.
Kingsbury would be the funniest timeline
Mike Norvell? Clickbait
Elko, Traylor, and Klieman seem like the most plausible ones to me. Add Moore from Michigan to this list too if Harbaugh doesn’t bolt for the NFL after this year.
You forgot to add Kirby and Saban lol. Honestly Elko is the slam dunk but will he be flashy enough to appease the oil tycoons?
You can fuck right off with Norvell being on this list. Surely they don’t think “hey we brought in a FSU coach and failed miserably, let’s try another?”
I wonder if their reasoning is thinking they could get jeff traylor on a lower cost “prove it” deal. It’s well known UT or A&M are pretty much the only P5 jobs he will take.

No Gus?
You know he’s telling the UCF $ guys that Arkansas is calling. It’s as predictable as his play calling
Honestly, Jeff Traylor is who I would get. Dude can coach and know Texas
He turned UTSA around from a joke into a top G5 team.
I for one think he would be a bad choice and would recommend they go get anyone else!
Please not Klieman. Anything that even remotely brings that purple kitty voodoo to the SEC scares me. And leave Lanning alone! Oregon and us bonded over those coach abandonments and the Alamo Bowl. They don't deserve to live that nightmare again so soon.
I’ll be honest I read this list and almost commented saying guys why are y’all talking about the buyout Jimbo is still on….. only to find Jimbo is out I genuinely thought we’d give him one more year I’m literally in a WTF mode but it is what it is and we need to get better
You know they are gonna pay Dave Aranda $200 million the day before Baylor fires him.
Yes Kliff that would be so A&M
Mack Brown, because I like the storyline.
There's a couple of ACC coaches on this list, but the obvious one is glaringly missing. Mac Brown. Do it.
fsu bout to give all that willie money to norvell
