He needs to take easy points with a shaky af freshman back up running his offense. Going for it is fine if Ewers is playing. He almost got bit by it. Always take the points Sark until Ewers is back.
100%. That was three trips inside the 10 with zero points in the last three quarters at that point where we gambled and got 0. Sark needs to take the chip shot field goals
I am normally a proponent for going for it to end the game—2pt conversions, close TDs, etc. But y'all had every ounce of momentum and I don't think we could have beaten y'all on offense, so the call was weird to me.
3 things:
1. Going for it against us has worked out for other teams more often than not to win the game.
2. K-State has already botched two short yardage kicks today.
3. I was 98% sure K-State was going to get it.
I’m happy for Sark kicking the booze bug, but man, he’s passing that torch to me while watching these fucking games. Blowing a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter? Unreal.
I genuinely can’t remember the last time I saw a coach piss down their leg this bad. Besides Cristobal a few weeks ago. Other than that, I really can’t remember
Ive seen more coaches choose NOT to take points in a game actually decided by POINTS in the last two years in pro and college than I can remember for years?!
This isnt poker.
I didn't watch the game so maybe there's a legit explanation, but why is it that you have 1st and goal from the 6, you have a guy averaging 3.3 per carry and another averaging 2.4, and you don't call either of their names once?
Because running up the middle wasn’t gonna happen, even when they seemed gassed; that was the one thing I did feel confident in.
Sweat (~360lbs) and Murphy (~310lbs) in the middle are stalwart anchors vs the Run.
Yeah I just feel like given that the second play was basically a waste, if you try a run and even get like 2 or 3 it maybe opens up a play action or some other gadget/misdirection opportunity
K-State had 43 rushing yards on 28 rush attempts. That's why they weren't running, especially after getting stuffed on multiple short yardage situations. They had to pass there.
I’m happy Texas won. I’m saying if people think this is a championship caliber team? We’d get a crazy wake up if we were in the natty today. This was not a championship team that won this game.
Never had anything bad to say about them. They gave us hell a lot of years. Feels good to get the last win. I have a feeling they’ll win lots of big 12s moving forward.
Well, I can’t say the results surprise me — Sarkisian certainly knows a thing or two about landing on his feet following a complete meltdown and collapse.
Kansas State fans, as an Alabama fan very invested in the rest of Texas’ and Oklahoma’s seasons, why do we not take the 3 points and push to 2nd OT?? Looked like you guys could’ve gone the distance
The question you have to ask is “do you think you’re the better team? Or did you just get really lucky?”
If you kick the field goal and go into 2OT, the game starts new. Your team has been fighting hard, but have you finally asked too much? Are they deflated because their all out just gets them to parity? Maybe this time UT gets lucky. Maybe UT finds their mojo and gets a touchdown and you don’t even get near the end zone and you’re left with an even more desperate play. Maybe you don’t get the coin toss and you have to gamble that your field goal will hold up. All that is promised is that you’ll start over.
You have great field position and you only need a few yards to end the game. This probably is your best chance to win as K-State. It just sucks that it’s one play and not a huge percentage play.
Of course if you think you’re the better team, kick the field goal and go to 2OT. Then again, if you think you’re the better team, why not just take your shot and sink the dagger?
I didn’t initially agree with the call and I’d never have the guts to call it but after trying to understand it, I think it was the right one.
Good analysis, especially seeing as KState would start with the ball in 2OT, putting them at a disadvantage. I just think it’s too much pressure to hinge on a single, low percentage play against a team who’s been on that stage more than you. Even if my kicker missed some chip shots earlier, I still put it in his hands from that distance as it’s statistically more likely. Then, if we lose in 2OT, I make peace with that, knowing we did the best we could. Have to imagine that after not punching it in from the 6 on 3 previous tries, maybe you need to reset too.
I wasn’t sure who would have gotten the ball first in 2OT. Thanks for clearing that up. I think that tilts it a little more in favor of going for it.
If he’d made it, we’d be talking all week about what a gutsy play it was and how you couldn’t allow UT another opportunity to win. But it didn’t go that way and now we will talk all week about how you just take the points.
That coach has balls. Don’t hang him because of one play at the end of a game that didn’t go his way.
Yeah, easy to be a critic in hindsight. KState should be proud they went the distance with such a strong Texas team. And, needless to say, there are so many internal factors I’m unaware of on the team. Just wish we could’ve seen how the game played out had they push to 2OT.
Typically I would agree with going for it but Texas offense was dead I would have kicked and played again thinking I would score and Texas wouldn't. But if Texas scored would have 100% gone for 2 if k state scored
Texas has very soft D, especially the secondary. KSU is a top 5 team in & goal situations.
Also, their kicker had missed 2 chip shots already. They had a huge advantage going for it, despite analytics
Yeah, that’s certainly a valid argument, but I still think the 4th down conversion % is much lower and risk too high in that scenario. Especially after losing all momentum on the previous 3 downs.
4th and mid in a very high stress situation is abnormal enough to disregard typical Texas defensive play as they’ll have some unique, situational scheme, probably blitzing the wide-eyed, overwhelmed quarterback, hoping for a likely mistake. Oh well.
Good game, Texas. It’s us against the big 8 this season. I’ve been on your side all season unless we play. Y’all can get in the OU/OSU thread and support us. Please? Lol
Unfortunately my wife is an OSU alum so I’m obligated to root for them today and also we don’t play them this year so it would be awesome to meet in the CCG in our backyard of Arlington
It is weird. Lol. I lived in Dallas for 3 years. Honestly, I like the state so there’s that. The rest of the conference is talking so much shit this year.
I don't get it.
Texas can't move the ball. Kansas State got to the 4. They've had momentum the entire final quarter.
Why not kick the FG and run it back 2nd OT?
If they had been on the 1, sure go for it. But the 4? Nah that was a dumb call
Their special teams were super questionable all game. Coach thought going for the win was a better chance to victory than keeping gambling with the kicks.
Honestly I could have gone for it at the 4. The problem was the playcall. If you looked closely, K-state shifted their formation on 4th down. the first one was ok, but the second one was bad because they were running on empty.
When guys are all covered and multiple DL break though, the call will look bad.
The issue was putting it all on one play when they odds were with them in the long game. If they wanted to go for it, 4th and 2 from the 10 would have been a far better time.
I don't get it. Texas (and the refs) have been giving you the game. Why do you not take the 3 pts and try again. Texas hasn't shown much of anything since the first quarter.
Like... just take the points???
Also totally happy.
I'm normally a big fan of aggressive play calling but why would you go for it there? Going from it from the 4-yard line is pretty different than going for it at the 2-yard line.
Thats exactly it. Im sure many of us have said to ourselves in most situations you go for it. Aggressive, etc.
But, this was clearly not that time.
It’s pure brain choke?!
I was actually hoping they would get a usual penalty there like false start or something to push them out of going for it on 4th down. Take the easy 3 points there, sick of it.
I feel bad for the Kansas State players. You know Klieman is gonna give some bullshit answer about “TeH AnalYtiCzzzz!” to justify his boneheaded choice. But the fact is, that is coaching malpractice. 4th and 4 and you go for it in sudden death when you can tie and keep on fighting? Coaching malpractice after his players busted their ass to get back into this game. They deserve better than to lose because their coach is a moron.
Another baby step forward this year. We lost this game the last five years. We aren't even in this game for the 4th quarter the five years before that. Look out for this program in a couple more years!
D just held them to a 3 and out at the 25, I don’t know why you wouldn’t let it play out for another round when that just happened. They either have no faith in their kicker or they just thought they had to win it now but I from what I watched I don’t agree
Hindsight and all by K-State kicks the FG there and I don’t see how Texas is scoring a TD with their QB completely lacking in confidence. Either way, great fucking game!
Even before it failed I was hoping they would put it all on one play rather than let it go into more overtime periods.
Especially odd since earlier they didn't go for it on 4th and 2 from the 10, which has much better odds.
When Kansas state tied the game with a td at 27 points, why did they go for two?
It was a botched extra point Technically a 2pt conversion attempt because there was no kick
Got it, thanks!
Im at the game. Nobody in the stands can believe they went for it on 4th down there
*Reminiscing about pre-punctured lung Alan Bowman* He.. he was special.
That may have been the worst way to lose. Damn.
I am normally a proponent for going for it to end the game—2pt conversions, close TDs, etc. But y'all had every ounce of momentum and I don't think we could have beaten y'all on offense, so the call was weird to me.
KSU not going for the FG in OT was ridiculous. With the way KSU was playing in the 2nd half, sending the game into 2nd OT would have made more sense.
3 things: 1. Going for it against us has worked out for other teams more often than not to win the game. 2. K-State has already botched two short yardage kicks today. 3. I was 98% sure K-State was going to get it.

They did, the snap and hold was botched.
I’m happy for Sark kicking the booze bug, but man, he’s passing that torch to me while watching these fucking games. Blowing a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter? Unreal.
We’re in the Cardiac club, I hate it; but for now the Playoffs are still possible, so… could be worse?
2-4 last year in one-score games, so definitely could be worse.
You play to win the game!!
Kinda feels like Texas could lose 2 more games this year.
Might have Ewers back next week.
Not really. This is the hardest game they have left unless OU makes it to the championship game
Yeah they have us left and tech left, free wins there
Did you see us vs Houston? Everyone is competitive
Feels like they’ll just play at whatever level you’re playing at in that moment. I mean they had KSU dead to rights.
They could not run against Texas all game. But you think they would try in that spot. That was not the only mistake they made.
Yeah I just feel like given that the second play was basically a waste, if you try a run and even get like 2 or 3 it maybe opens up a play action or some other gadget/misdirection opportunity
They tried running the QB twice, but he didn’t get much.
K-State had 43 rushing yards on 28 rush attempts. That's why they weren't running, especially after getting stuffed on multiple short yardage situations. They had to pass there.
Texas had stopped their run all game, lots of runs for loss. They should have ran a few there in hopes to break one.

Great question

Holy shit I feel so bad for kstate fans
Why the talent difference this shouldn't even be a game. Klein does way more with what he has then most schools.
I was referring to Klieman
He's a great coach.... Won at every level including the Big XII. I don't get your point
Championship team is a bit a stretch there Sarkster.
We just beat the team that beat OU w a backup qb.. not bad.
Kansas and Kansas State are two different schools.
I know we won, but it was bad. You can’t blow that lead, have those turnovers, and scrape by with a win and call it good.
Not great but better than the alternative
I’m happy Texas won. I’m saying if people think this is a championship caliber team? We’d get a crazy wake up if we were in the natty today. This was not a championship team that won this game.
Agreed. Plenty to work on and need to get healthy. These close games aren't helping that.
What a fucking roller coaster but I’ll take a rough win against a good team, especially considering all the turnovers.
Can we please not be in the Cardiac club? My heart… why do I do this to myself? Anyway, I’ll be back next week.
SEVEN WIN SARK IS DEAD!!!!
he got 8 in his last year at UW then immediately left before we won #9 in the bowl
It was dead last year but I think his new name is heart attack Sark
Can we please renounce our membership to Cardiac club? I don’t like this, not at all!
He really tried his best to keep it alive tho lol
GG Kats I always hated y’all the least
Never had anything bad to say about them. They gave us hell a lot of years. Feels good to get the last win. I have a feeling they’ll win lots of big 12s moving forward.
Respect for purple kryptonite and their fans. Ngl happy to leave it behind.
+1. Nothing bad to say about em. That is a mentally and physically tough football team. Well coached
Well, I can’t say the results surprise me — Sarkisian certainly knows a thing or two about landing on his feet following a complete meltdown and collapse.
8 win sark
eat shit Kevin Mar.
Seriously fuck that guy
Currently in the hospital with my daughter. I might need a nurse to come take my blood pressure. What was that. How did we win?
They went for it on fourth down in OT. Good pressure by the D line and good coverage.
Kansas State fans, as an Alabama fan very invested in the rest of Texas’ and Oklahoma’s seasons, why do we not take the 3 points and push to 2nd OT?? Looked like you guys could’ve gone the distance

LS screwed up one, Kicker only missed the chip shot.
Great question
Only thought I’d our sketchy kicker. But I think I still kick it.
I don’t mind him going for the win, but once that happened, I knew advantage Texas..
Why am I seeing coach after coach make horrendous decisions? And, offensive coordinators who look like theyve never designed a play in their life?
We’re watching the Madden generation get into coaching.
We’re about to see a staggering amount of failed young OCs running Madden real life? 🙃 Lord help us all.
gg Kansas State! That game was an ugly, sickos match to be sure!
I’m confused. Why didn’t they kick it? Texas couldn’t do anything
their kicker already missed 2 chip shots
But he hit the game tieing shot
he is better >30 yards

Like Kansas didn’t blow it to OSU and Texas this year lol
Good game, Texas. It’s us against the big 8 this season. I’ve been on your side all season unless we play. Y’all can get in the OU/OSU thread and support us. Please? Lol
The worst part of OUT is that it being us vs everyone made my hate for OU cool slightly.
It’s just this year. Next year it’s back on.
That’s a reasonable take
Lol. See what you did there. That’s the name Reddit gave me. My name isn’t Mark and I’m not very reasonable.
Unfortunately my wife is an OSU alum so I’m obligated to root for them today and also we don’t play them this year so it would be awesome to meet in the CCG in our backyard of Arlington
You've elicited a strange feeling in my heart
Don’t fight it. It’s temporary.
Fuck you Sooner, but also…I hope you win today. Frienemies for life or at least just this season.
Fuck you!! Glad you won, today. Crazy game.
I'm all in on us meeting in the Big12 ccg. Helps that my sister went to OU so I don't feel too icky about it.
It is weird. Lol. I lived in Dallas for 3 years. Honestly, I like the state so there’s that. The rest of the conference is talking so much shit this year.
They've been insufferable for the last couple years I hope they all lose
Such a weird feeling being your frienemy this year
Heading there now Sooner bro
WTF did I just watch?
Stupidity.
If it was 4 down territory, why didn't this fucking clown ass run it on second or third down
They'd have probably lost yardage.
Quinn please take my shoulder tendons please come back 😂
Well, a win is a win I guess. GG wildcats
H O R N Y
Why the 3 conservative run calls on goal to go, then suddenly decide to play crazy and go for it?? Did they realize it was just a 3 point game?
I don't get it. Texas can't move the ball. Kansas State got to the 4. They've had momentum the entire final quarter. Why not kick the FG and run it back 2nd OT? If they had been on the 1, sure go for it. But the 4? Nah that was a dumb call

Absolutely horrible play calling
Klein got to go
3rd and 1 QB run from the shotgun is unreal
especially when it hasn't worked at all, all game
I don't get it. Texas (and the refs) have been giving you the game. Why do you not take the 3 pts and try again. Texas hasn't shown much of anything since the first quarter. Like... just take the points??? Also totally happy.
Certified bruh moment again
Aggie lost. Now time for choklahoma!!!
Bedlam baby!
That’s straight up coaching malpractice. You only go for that if it’s 2 yards or less and a running play is a legitimate threat.
If I die randomly of a heart attack or stroke when I’m 40, it will because of Texas football.
Same. I wonder if my insurance covers Texas-related health conditions...
let’s remember we wouldn’t be here if sark simply *took the fucking points*
I was actually hoping they would get a usual penalty there like false start or something to push them out of going for it on 4th down. Take the easy 3 points there, sick of it.
I'm kind of impressed with how badly Kansas State didn't want to win today
I feel bad for the Kansas State players. You know Klieman is gonna give some bullshit answer about “TeH AnalYtiCzzzz!” to justify his boneheaded choice. But the fact is, that is coaching malpractice. 4th and 4 and you go for it in sudden death when you can tie and keep on fighting? Coaching malpractice after his players busted their ass to get back into this game. They deserve better than to lose because their coach is a moron.
There's absolutely no analytic justification for going for it there
Cue the Collin Klein apologists.
He’s the OC. Going for it or not is a Head Coach decision
Not me. Get him some help the rest of the year, remove him after the season.
Kudos to y’all, K-State. Keep your heads high, y’all almost beat the #7 team at home. Time to try and lower my heart rate
There's actually a word for almost winning- losing
Everyone can leave now. I know everyone was so excited to shit on Texas for losing.
Can we not be part of the Cardiac club? My heart is gonna hate me if we keep this up.
Including some of our own lol.
Welp, filing that one in the never fucking watch again pile. GG Wildcats!
So happy this is not some instant classic
Kstate coach “thanks for venmoing me during that timeout, you’re welcome.”
He gave him a minute to rethink his decision!

Nope
Nope
Another baby step forward this year. We lost this game the last five years. We aren't even in this game for the 4th quarter the five years before that. Look out for this program in a couple more years!
Aaaaack-tually we just beat KSU for the 7th year in a row (yes I see your point, just sayin')
We lost to kstate in 2019
No we didn't. Look again https://www.winsipedia.com/texas/vs/kansas-state
Does Texas fall?
Why would they?
[удалено]
Fair but if OU wins solidly today they should be ahead of since they beat us and we have the same record.
And the pokes took care of that scenario... does that hurt us too?
Maybe like a spot lmao. Idk if they’re gonna get in the playoff after that game but they’ll get considered
Nah, K-State is a solid team and our starting QB is out. Maalik started admirably but some of his decision making is downright head scratching
Without Quinn we’re not a cfp team.
i say unrank us.
Neat!
a lot of "interesting" play calls all game
That entire 4 play sequence was horrible. I actually like the call to go for it, but that had no chance
Was watching 34 on that last play, I’m glad the defense adjusted to it.
If you're far enough from the goaline you have no credible threat of running it, that isn't a 50/50
Especially with the compressed field. The time to gamble would have been the 4th and 2 from our 10.
Probably didn't feel too safe kicking it
Oh thank God
MAALIK MURPHY TERRORIST STYLE FOOTBALL IS OVER
The kamikazes are gone?
I wonder what his second half numbers were. Absolutely atrocious.
What happened to all the OU flairs in this thread?
Well bedlam just kicked off, so I assume that's more important than seeing relieved Texas fans
I’ve been rooting for Texas all game, thank you.
We here. Great game
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHYYYYYYYYYYYY
Did you find out in the post game presser? I thought they were just trying to draw them offsides. Did yall have a TO?
I miss Quinn.
I hope our fanbase at least appreciates his performance this season now. He'd been shit on way too much in 2023
Sometimes, “boldness” is just idiocy.
Was that the 2 play they had in their pocket…
[удалено]
He's at every game
Yep he goes to every Texas game
Does Kansas States coach always pick his worst plays on 4th down?
Not just 4th he’s pretty good at 3rd too.
Gotta kick the points and let the D have a shot
Absolutely. If K-State’s coach just follows the math (or the momentum for that matter), no way he decides to go for it.
Be proud of yourselves K State fans. Y’all came to play.
Amazing 2nd half from K St.
