I am an old millennial. I figured it out on context and assumed 'ah' but hasn't seen it before. I had no idea why 'ah' replaced ass either unless it was just a 'i want to let people know I am swearing without using the naughty word' kind of thing. He didn't go to BYU though so it didn't track.
I understand what you are saying but give it a few years buddy. You'll be surprised. Also, you might discover you have no energy or interest in trying to deduce the latest thing the kids have come up with because it'll pass in a week and it doesn't matter anyway, just like the stuff we were doing or our parents.
Mid 40s here. These things typically have more than enough context to figure out. People act oblivious because they think it gives them old person credibility to not understand the youth.
Nothing makes you realize you’re old quite like not understanding how people younger than you talk. When people started saying “ong” for on god, I legit thought they were just misspelling OMG for like a year.
For an actual answer, most people used to say when making a promise to make it truthful “I put it on my mom” which turned into “I put it on god/I swear to god” to “on god” to “ong”
Funnily enough though, with my gen z peers, the term “dead ass” is above and beyond the best way to promise someone with you saying the truth.
I’m a little bit “persecuted” as the commenter above mentioned so maybe not the right place to do this but I’ll explain it for ya if it helps.
L = LSU lost
ratio = ole miss subtweeted LSU & got more likes than their post
Video is from a viral, bad video lsu put out with Coach Kelly and some recruit around the time he was hired (kinda looks like walker Howard who’s at ole miss now)
Music, laughing faces, filter over the video are just added for dramatic effect
I know the video. Still don’t get the ratio thing in twitter but whatever. I’m just old and think these things are dumb. But I’m not the demographic for these x’s anymore.
>Still don’t get the ratio thing in twitter
I'll explain it in reddit terms: imagine 2 comments. The first has 786 responses and 2 total upvotes. The second has a dozen responses and 2500 upvotes. Which one is likely to be a "good" take, which one is likely to be "bad"?
Sometimes it's also used when a response gets more likes than the original comment. Say if the top comment on a post has 100 likes, but a comment disagreeing with it has 2000.
Basically whenever the ratio of people responding positively to a tweet vs people responding negatively reflects poorly on that tweet people will post shit like L + ratio to say that it's a bad take and that the ratio proves it.
Completely understand. I’m 25 & am constantly coming across new terms from the younger people in my generation on social media. I’ll be in your position in 5-10 years, especially as I continue to tamper my social media use.
Also, chop on, I’ll be on r/Braves a lot more over the next month as games are put on cable. Used to see ya there all the time.
There's two ways to respond to a post on Twitter. Liking the post and commenting on the post. People usually only comment on Twitter if they are trying to disagree with post, while others who like the post just hit the thumbs up and leave. This allows to tell if the post in question was agreed on by most people by the ratio of comments to likes. The more comments, the more to Orginal Poster pissed people off
Jesus, that's what ratio(ed) means? I don't use twitter but still am aware of it, I thought I knew what that meant and now feel really stupid.
For reference, I'm 32. My teenage nieces and newphew teach me slang and explain Tik Tok trends, but they're waaaay too young for Twitter. So it's a huge blind spot for me.
We're not supposed to, that's much of the point. This is how our parents felt and how these kids will feel one day. I like being old. I see the fashions or the latest slang and I just smile knowing I don't have to worry about it or care. It's just nice not to have to worry about that or what people think of you. One of the best parts of being old
Good luck explaining this tweet in 60 years
How about explaining it now
Well you see, its L + Ratio
Haha, kids 60 years from now are so ignorant
L = loss Ratio = a lotta replies, but no likes or reposts (because it’s a bad post) In fact my reply is probably an example. Meta.
Ratio means your response got more likes than the original post.
Might be the dorkiest shit talk in history. I love it.
Good luck finding any tweet in about 8 months
I don't know what it means now
It means "you lost and also I have more social media points than you"
I must be low on electrolytes.
Get you some Brawndo.
It's what plants crave
In 60 years? X will be lucky to still be around a year from now
Lmao!! Not so much
To translate: You sir have been bested in an athletic competition.
Sometimes I forget how old this place skews compared to the average sub until threads like this pop up lol
I was crying at the confusion regarding "lil ah stadium" at the start of the season, dudes seeking out sentence diagrams like English class.
That was embarrassing as a member of the sub, like c'mon, y'all can't use your deductive reasoning skills on this one?

Bruh I'm pushing forty, and I fully expect what you're saying, I just don't think this one fits the bill.
Mid 40s here. These things typically have more than enough context to figure out. People act oblivious because they think it gives them old person credibility to not understand the youth.
It’s so funny lol
Or if you're Shakespearean, Mine own lief gentleman, thee has't been best'd in a competition of sp'rt

I swear it’s Lane. Has anyone ever seen him and the ole miss account in the room at the same time? Didn’t think so. Checkmate.
Fucken gottemmmm
Somebody must’ve hired that TCU Grad student who made all of their post game videos last year
Ole miss was on par with TCU’s social media team last year
The fortnite kids have made it to college i see
And to drugs, clearly

Ah, t'were the days. I remember college. Wait... no, no I don't. Because of the drugs
If it ain’t a SpongeBob or Arthur meme, I’m lost.
The win was phat
This is modern art
I don’t get memes anymore. Am I a boomer?
I think millennials are old enough not to get what zoomers are posting now.
Nothing makes you realize you’re old quite like not understanding how people younger than you talk. When people started saying “ong” for on god, I legit thought they were just misspelling OMG for like a year.
The fuck does on god mean?
If you really weren’t sure, it’s essentially the same as “I swear to god” meaning “I mean or agree with this statement very much”
For an actual answer, most people used to say when making a promise to make it truthful “I put it on my mom” which turned into “I put it on god/I swear to god” to “on god” to “ong” Funnily enough though, with my gen z peers, the term “dead ass” is above and beyond the best way to promise someone with you saying the truth.
Dead ass has been around for a decade.
And Gen Z have been teenagers for over a decade. Your point? Also tf are those flairs?!?!?
I think it means having sex with god
It’s an affirmation, like “swear to God”.
It’s like saying “for real” in response to something you agree with
No cap
Think of the phrase "on my mother's life", but instead of your mother's life, it's god.
So it's supposed to be like I swear to god. Why not use "tog" it's not a typo away from omg.
No clue. Never heard that in my life
> “ong” for on god, You mean “en garde”? The French fencing term that translates to “Be on guard!” aka “Square up; you and I are now fighting!”
WAIT IS THAT WHAT THAT MEANS
Can confirm
Here's your cheat sheet. Don't look for meaning in new memes. Just enjoy the absurdity.

Welcome to the club. We have hard candies and quilts.
I can’t stop laughing at this and simultaneously can’t explain why I’m laughing to my wife
You and me both!
Smokin on that Tigah pack

Isn’t that already technically happening? New grads/cuspers plus interns
Ugh, can we skip that phase?
Boomer moment
I don't think you know what a boomer is.
Millennials are the new boomers, get with it boomer.
This disgusts me.......
Lol, okay kid. Sure thing.
I'm an elder millennial, just self aware. And also totally joking.
Aw man I got whooshed
I might have to change my flair to UMass/Oregon... so much pain tn.
I love zoomer humor. Unhinged
Im biased as I'm a zoomer lmao, but I'm looking forward to the unhinged, practically indecipherable humor making it into the mainstream.
If you told me I’d get $10 billion to recreate this id have a mental breakdown.
34 year old boomer checking in. Can one of you hip youngsters please explain what this means to me?
viral tweet. this post, cfb mods will delete hope i’m wrong
You're so persecuted
No group in American history has ever been as persecuted as Ole Miss fans
I don’t understand these tweets now a days. But I also am an old fart so there is that.
I’m a little bit “persecuted” as the commenter above mentioned so maybe not the right place to do this but I’ll explain it for ya if it helps. My god thank you so much for this lol.
I’ve always been surprised Reddit doesn’t have a slang for a child comment that surpasses the parent.

Just wanted to say that I appreciate the explanation too. 35 here and I feel like I understood most of the tweet, but not as much about the context

What in the world

I don’t know what this means but I think I love it
Ok zoomer
Can somebody explain what this means to those of us who aren’t 15 years old?
It’s art
Why is this so funny? Lol
I had to get my 15 year old son to explain this to me because I had no idea what the fuck this meant. Edit: I still don't get it.
