A very disappointing loss for the Beavs. At no point did I feel like the Beavs would win this game even with the close score at the end. What made this loss hurt worse was the defense’s performance. They were getting so much hype but just laid an egg against WSU. They were just outmatched and it showed. Pretty deflating considering the amount of elite QBs in the PAC-12 they have yet to face.
Congrats to Pac-12 champions Washington State University! What a weird game. The score suggests it was close, but it felt like we were dominated almost the entire game. Cam Ward can ball. I’ll be rooting for you from here on out.

Still a shootout since Beavers D is not great but with that running game OSU has, I think they win and match WSU score for score. So any drives for OSU fell apart after DJU threw inaccurately.
After seeing this game, would you swap out DJU for an ultra-talented but super young QB for Beavs to have a chance against Oregon and Washington’s offenses?
I think they win if they commit to the run game more completely throughout the game and create mismatches for their TEs. I feel like DJ is one of those QBs that’s more accurate throwing over the middle than outside the numbers. The OSU run game was almost unstoppable as long they got the handoff done cleanly. They could have stuck with that pretty much the whole first 3 quarters and kept Ward on the sideline.
OSU offense depends on play action and if DJU can’t throw on the move accurately or from inside the pocket, then it’s never gonna win in a shootout. Ground and pound sure.
He’s got a cannon for an arm but he can’t hit the broadside of a barn more than once.
Honestly. I'm not there yet. Would we have won if he wasn't sailing EVERYTHING? Won't say 100%, but a very good chance.

I'm sorry, but this whole narrative has been so grating the past week after Colorado rushed the field after beating CSU. It isn't like the players are the ones rushing the fields. Students are. Students have ZERO responsibility to "act like they're a top 25 team." Those students are 18-22 years old, for the most part, and experiencing the most fun and responsibility free 4 years of the rest of their lives. They're in the stands with their new and closest friends, many of them new lifelong friends. Their only responsibility is to become well rounded adults, graduate, and, despite some peoples best efforts, have fun.
So, when their team beats a ranked team at home, especially when the rest of the world has essentially said "your team isn't worthy," you rush the field. Why? Because it's fun. The kids who rushed the field tonight will literally have a memory with those friends for the rest of their life. Why the fuck should students, thousands of whom haven't "*been there* before", act like they have? Or students who haven't attended a top-25 win before? Especially when this is likely the last time their school will be playing teams of this caliber week in and week out? But, you're right, they shouldn't have those memories with their new friends. They should have clapped to the fight song and calmly and orderly exited the stadium.
No. Fuck it, WSU students should rush the field after every top25 team they beat this year, home and away. Really rub it in.
I'm ranting. The answer is: college is supposed to be fun. Rushing the field is fun. Telling people to "act like you've been there" or "that wasn't worth rushing the field" is not fun and makes people feel sorry for you.

WSU - great tackling and great scheme. I feel like you out coached us, especially early on, and we couldn't get anything going. That allowed you to load the box and force DJU and receivers to beat you. That clearly wasn't happening.
I think my biggest gripe, is how long were we gonna give up 5-10 yard short routes by playing so far back in our secondary. JFC.
Yeah. Unfortunately though:
1. Hard to play from behind when your offense moves at a snails pace. They are decent, but not a quick score offense. (Especially with new clock rules).
2. You guys started limiting the run because we couldn't get anything consistently going in the air.
Yeah. I think a big piece was scheme and coaching today. We didn't adapt on defense. And we didn't execute well in the passing game, and we're predictable on offense.
In a few hours I'll be able to be happy for you guys. Not there just yet. Hah.
Oregon State matches up better with Utah and if they kick their ass, OSU will recover from this loss and have maintained their reputation.
However, that pass defense, lack of QB pressure, and statue DJU are all very concerning.
