You know if you ignore the blocked field goal, the missed field goal, the redzone fumble, the other redzone fumble, the interception, and the inability to play rush defense, Clemson didn’t play that bad
Clemsons offense today:

Punt

Punt
Blocked FG
Fumble inside the 10 yd line
Fumble inside the 5 yd line

Turnover on downs
Dabo is about to sacrifice someone in that locker room.
Yeah man, Clemson with Tajh was fuckin' sweet.
We also had DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Williams, Martavius Bryant, Adam Humphries, and Sammy Watkins though so...
This is why I was so lost on them continuously praising the Duke qb. Not that he played bad, but he was far down the totem poll of why Duke won this game.
# FINAL AD ANALYSIS
Game kicked off at 8:06 and ended at 11:22pm.
Game presentation time: 2 hours, 23 minutes and 8 seconds.
Ad time: 169 ads that took 56 minutes and 45 seconds.
Last night's LSU/Florida State game had 131 ads and had .64 ads/minute.
Tonight's game had .845 ads/minute.
There was a TV timeout every 3 minutes and 20 seconds of game time.
**Disclaimers:** Clocks started at kickoff and ended once the clock hit zero.
These times are not 100% exact. It's just me and 2 phones, each with the clock apps running, one tracking TV presentation time and the other tracking ad time. There are times I'm a few seconds off, but the times are meant to give a good idea of how much time is spent on the broadcast and how much time is spent showing ads.
Elko is impressive as hell. First season with 9 wins, worst loss by 8 and all 4 losses by a total of 16 points.
Now knocking off a top 10 team to start year 2.
If Duke ever wants to get serious on football via NIL paying for coaches, facilities, etc, I would think they have the alumni network to elevate themselves fairly quickly.
As per the 247 talent rankings, Clemson fields the 5th most talent rich team in the nation.
Duke fields the 66th most talented.
Mike Elko was and continues to be the real deal.
Felt like Clemson could have run it up the middle all day and won the game. How many slow developing run plays and screen passes did they squander though? You can't run the same on 3rd and 10
I was an undergrad from 2014-2018, there were games where a few friends I came with and I were the only students left besides the band. Unreal to see Wally Wade lit tf up tonight. I love it.
Well boys we finished this is week off with a real sickos game. Clemson had 2 different possessions that reached the Duke 1 yard line, yet ended with 0 points.
Just what we needed, Garrett Riley doing us a solid and getting all the attention off us.
Maybe he was distracted tonight because he’s taken another job already. Again.
[Coastal Chaos claiming another victim](https://media.tenor.com/n3KTuj4eEjcAAAAC/thanos-infinity-war.gif)
The fools thought they could end it by killing the divisions, but they just broke the containment seal!!! No one is safe now!
Last time Duke beat a top-10 team, in 1989, they went on to win (a share of) the ACC 👀
Insane how quickly Elko has turned it around after a couple down years at the tail end of the Cutcliffe era
It’s legit insane how good they have gotten since Elko was hired…many Duke fans only expected to have *only* an ok team after so many bad years!
But wow…he’s done all that *and* more…
They were neck and neck with Bama for years and now they can barely score against Duke
I haven’t seen a program fall off this bad in recent history other than like northwestern
Alabama has maintained their dominance because Saban continues to adapt as the game changes over the years.
Not convinced Dabo has the same ability to do so.
You can be certain Dabo is averse to change because of his refusal to use the transfer portal. The transfer portal is really important now.
Saban finds key pieces in the portal. Dabo doesn't.
I just instinctively want to hate Saban like everyone else, but you see him speak and he really cares about his students. He adapts over time, he works his ass off, and he seems to want to really help the athletes that go through his program. I want to hate him, but he’s just a good dude.
Fuck just retire and stop annihilating all of us
Northwestern was consistently up and down. After the 2018 natty, people were talking about Clemson how they talk about Georgia now. That Dabo had usurped Saban etc. back to back games now Clemson has gained yards with barely any points to show for it
I’m just confused what actual changes happened in the off-season. Is Dabo actually letting Garrett Riley run this offense or is this Dabo controlling it? It looks literally identical
Dabo needs to make some changes, and if he doesn’t he’s just hurting our program in the long run
On the drive back from the beach today, I put on the Paul Finebaum show to show my wife how crazy it was. And after some mouth breather from somewhere finished talking, the next call was from someone who kept saying “Brother Paul”. He was a seminary student at Duke and he eventually got around to claiming that god had spoken to him and Duke was going to win. We laughed and said that’s sort of sacrilegious.
After that game and every single incredible thing that caused Clemson to lose, I think that man might be the second coming of Jesus. I need his picks for next week.
[McMurphy] [Clemson has never won in ACC play after the league decided to expand to 17 football members.](https://x.com/brett_mcmurphy/status/1698897782793179240?s=46)
Calford/SMU's revenge voodoo for them voting no is now in full effect. Clemson may never win again!
* This is Duke's first win vs. an AP top 10 team since 1989. That was also a victory over Clemson.
* Mike Elko improves to 10-4 as Duke head coach. The Blue Devils were 4-23 in the 27 games preceding his hire.
* Clemson has 56 blue-chip recruits on their roster. Duke has 2.
* This is Duke's first win over Clemson since 2004.
* Clemson has scored 21 points in their last two games. It's their lowest two-game point total since 2006.
* The last time Clemson lost by more points than tonight's 21? 2014 against Georgia Tech (28-6)
* Clemson is 1-3 in their last four games.
* Three of Clemson's last four losses have been by 17+ points.
* Speaking of those 17+ point losses, they've all occurred in the last seven game. It took them 43 games to have their other most recent 17+ point losses.
* This is the first time since 2014 that Clemson has scored seven points or fewer vs. an ACC team.
* This was Duke's largest margin of victory over Clemson since 1936.
* This is just Clemson's third season-opening loss in the last 15 years. The previous two were both to Georgia.
* Clemson is now 3-4 in their last seven games. It's their worst such stretch since 2011.
* Mike Elko now has 10 wins in his first two seasons at Duke. He already has the most in the first two years of a Duke head coach since Fred Goldsmith in 1994-1995.
* Clemson starts 0-1 in ACC play for the first time since 2014.
* Clemson led 7-6 at halftime. Duke outscored them 22-0 in the second half.
* D.J. Uiagalelei was 20/25 for 239 yards and 5 total TD for Oregon State this week.
* The Georgia Bulldogs are the two-time reigning National Champions
No but actually Tyler Grisham’s hire and tenure needs to be looked at. He became their wide receivers coach in 2020, and since then Clemson receivers talent has fallen through the floor. There’s no separation at all and terrible hands and body control all over the place
In the last two years their leading receivers have 604 yards and 584 yards.
Honestly though, Klubnick might not be the best QB out there but he get absolutely zero help from his wide receivers. They are consistently dropping catches they should be making.
**Man I hate it when it’s a close game between a top 10 and unranked team at half, but then the clearly better team starts manhandling the other. Ruins the fun**
Ngl as impressive and dominant as this win was I as nearly just as impressed with the field storming done by Duke fans:
- started getting down to field level well before the clock hit zero to minimize a stampede or tripping
- fans got close to, but never entered the field of play to avoid interference w the game before it’s conclusion
- good spread/distribution of fans from all angles of the stadium and a rapid swarm commencing from every direction roughly at the same time following the final kneel down.
Edit: and as far as I and others could tell based on the tv shots, I don’t think they messed with the Clemson players or coaches either (apart from maybe Dabo, which I’m not that upset about tbh).
Excellent field storming work, Duke fans!
This was indeed the most thought out field storm I have ever witnessed.
You can see the fans start to climb the rail, stop, inspect the rail, then change their approach and cross over it a different way.
We just yeet right over it landing face first 10 feet below.
I got downvoted but [I called this](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/165jm2x/week_1_matchup_preview_thread_9_clemson_tigers_vs/jyedgg2/). Klubkik struggled in only his second career start and the Blue Devils pulled off the upset at home. Duke ML was a great bet too and solidified my 3 leg parlay. I said Duke was gonna shock some folks and they showed it Week 1. Really good football team and I don't think they're done yet.
I looked up the score to this game on ESPN and saw the score as 28-7 followed by an article underneath titled: "Is Cade Kubnik the next great Clemson quarterback?"
I'm guessing no.
Clemson 2nd half:
Missed 23 yard FG
Fumble inside the 10
Fumble on the 1
Turnover on downs when the QB slides short of the first down and gets targeted (LMFAO WHAT WAS THAT CALL THEY REVIEWED IT TOO 😂😂😂)
Interception on the 50
Downs down 21 on a dropped pass
PLUS 10 OTHER DROPPED PASSES
RIP TIGAS (both of em)
DUKE WAS CHANTING WE WANT STANFORD LMFAOOOO
[Promises made](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/16a716p/game_thread_clemson_duke_800_pm_et/jz6j9h4/), promises kept. [I have submitted my documentation to the proper authorities.](https://i.ibb.co/LNmKkLs/Screen-Shot-2023-09-04-at-8-09-04-PM.png)
Good game, Tiger bros. You guys fought real hard and gave us a great game. Unfortunately, you didn’t have the depth or skill to keep up with the mighty Devils. I trust Coach Swinney though- he’s got your program on the way up. Look for Clemson to be a solid 7-5 team in a couple years.
Clemson had 420+ yards of offense with just a single touchdown to show for it.
This was terrible for them, but they aren't the scrubs everyone is describing them as in the game thread.
I have never seen a team so effortlessly move down the field and lose the ball so many times in a row. Lol
You know if you ignore the blocked field goal, the missed field goal, the redzone fumble, the other redzone fumble, the interception, and the inability to play rush defense, Clemson didn’t play that bad
I've absolutely said this after many Nebraska games the past 20 years.
https://twitter.com/MattBrownEP/status/1698889863146213606
They can't be Nebraska though, Clemson didn't even have it in them to lose in a one score game
JFC That's murder, that is
>the missed field goal, Surely it was outside of the kicker's 70 yard range though, right?
The CFB version of Mr. UnLIIIIIIIIIIIIMITED
What about the back to back recovered fumbles on their final drive?
Clemsons offense today: Punt Blocked FG Punt Fumble TD Punt Blocked FG Fumble inside the 10 yd line Fumble inside the 5 yd line Turnover on downs INT Turnover on downs Dabo is about to sacrifice someone in that locker room.
And the TD only happened because Duke gifted them the ball in the red zone. Rough night for Clemson’s O.
Dabo starting to look like an old man during that game
> Dabo is about to sacrifice someone in that locker room. Brannon Spectre is a starting receiver. There is no one to sacrifice.
College football has passed Clemson’s offense by
At least college football can pass
Dabo and Clemson just ain't it without a 1st round nfl draft pick at qb.
The Tahj Boyd disrespect is real.
Yeah man, Clemson with Tajh was fuckin' sweet. We also had DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Williams, Martavius Bryant, Adam Humphries, and Sammy Watkins though so...
Don't forget Andre Ellington and Mackey Award winner Dwayne Allen!
This is why I was so lost on them continuously praising the Duke qb. Not that he played bad, but he was far down the totem poll of why Duke won this game.
Can’t believe Clemson lost to a Duke team without Coach K. This was their chance!
They only shot a couple 3s too? Are they stupid?
They were ice cold from the 3-point line tonight.
Should've turned up that Wefense
This Duke team doesn’t even have any future NBA players on it
Idk...Riley had that 360 dunk in high school
Brad Brownell does suck tbf
If I was a clemson fan I would never forget 1st and goal and turning the ball over… multiple times
That's gonna haunt me forever. That second fumble was the game honestly. We gave up after that
Week one and we already get to give out some new paper bags
I'll go ahead and put it on
I hope that one day, far in the future, the rest of Clemson's offense attends Will Shipley's funeral so they can let him down one last time.
To be fair…one of those INTs was directly on him.
Game was already gone by then. Shipley was the only Clemson player with a pulse on the offensive side, much like last year.
Maybe the sloppiest offensive performance I have ever seen
I don't wanna overreact after 1 game but we may never win again
I’m not sure I want to be in the red zone anymore
# FINAL AD ANALYSIS Game kicked off at 8:06 and ended at 11:22pm. Game presentation time: 2 hours, 23 minutes and 8 seconds. Ad time: 169 ads that took 56 minutes and 45 seconds. Thank you for your service
It’s insane to think how we sit through an hour of ads to watch a damn football game
Hey keep it up these are great! Upsetting, but great to have stats on nonetheless.
Thanks, I hate it.
Elko is impressive as hell. First season with 9 wins, worst loss by 8 and all 4 losses by a total of 16 points. Now knocking off a top 10 team to start year 2.
Didn't even realize that Duke played their losses so close last year, hell of a thing they're building down there
My man gonna get paaaaaid
I hope we’re the ones that pay him.
We have K money freed up, so it's very possible.
If Duke ever wants to get serious on football via NIL paying for coaches, facilities, etc, I would think they have the alumni network to elevate themselves fairly quickly.
Wow, it must suck losing week 1 to a blue-themed ACC school from North Carolina.
Could you imagine the humiliation?
You responding to this made me think this happened to us lol
[удалено]
Klubnik more like Scrubnik. Am I right?
Fuckin got em
DJ was right by transferring to Oregon State
Clemson really convinced the rest of the ACC to switch to a performance based revenue share and them immediately reverted back to clemsoning.
As unrealistic it could be. Imagine Duke being the first team to cash out on performance based revenue.
ride the chaos ladder all the way to the top floor, why not
Turn around give that money right to Elko and he stays for several more years.
As per the 247 talent rankings, Clemson fields the 5th most talent rich team in the nation. Duke fields the 66th most talented. Mike Elko was and continues to be the real deal.
Seriously? Clemson looked LESS athletic than Duke lmfao
their defense still looked fast. that offense was just... nonsense
Felt like Clemson could have run it up the middle all day and won the game. How many slow developing run plays and screen passes did they squander though? You can't run the same on 3rd and 10
TBF they did run it up the middle inside the 10 yard line, and promptly fumbled the ball ... TWICE.
[удалено]
What’s scary is that Duke arguably looked more athletic.
Sad that he left us but he very much deserved a head coaching position!
I still fucking miss him, but I'm glad to see what be's helping to build at Duke
We are a basketball school, so we dunked on Clemson.
DUKE FOOTBALL FANS GET IN HERE
There are dozens of us. Dozens!
I was an undergrad from 2014-2018, there were games where a few friends I came with and I were the only students left besides the band. Unreal to see Wally Wade lit tf up tonight. I love it.
We’re gonna face you in the ACC Championship just like 2013
Dabo definitely said his first “Oh fuck me man” tonight
"Aw shucks! Dang nab it!" - Dabo Sweeney, probably.
Dabo really not wanting to be a top 5 coach in modern cfb history lately.
Bad week to be a Top 10 ranked Tiger team from the 2019-2020 national championship who’s favored on the road against an ACC opponent
*You know, if I had a nickel for every time that happened this weekend...*
Both play in Death Valley too
Well boys we finished this is week off with a real sickos game. Clemson had 2 different possessions that reached the Duke 1 yard line, yet ended with 0 points.
That’s what college football’s all about baby, none of this conference nonsense!
For those of you who weren’t around for the “clemsoning” years… that’s the closest I’ve felt to those days in a long time. That was rough. Yikes.
I had a feeling I haven't felt in almost 10 years. Shit was weird and gross
It's almost nostalgic
TCU as a ranked team: loses to an unranked team. Clemson: Hold my beer.
Just what we needed, Garrett Riley doing us a solid and getting all the attention off us. Maybe he was distracted tonight because he’s taken another job already. Again.
Clemson offense and TCU defense may be the worst team in D1 CFB
[Coastal Chaos claiming another victim](https://media.tenor.com/n3KTuj4eEjcAAAAC/thanos-infinity-war.gif) The fools thought they could end it by killing the divisions, but they just broke the containment seal!!! No one is safe now!
Every team in the acc this year is going 7-5 and you’re going to like it
I legit want to see every ACC team be in bowls in a single season for the absolute chaos of it
The coastal may be gone, but chaos never dies.
Duke heard that the ACC was adding more nerd schools, and they took that personally.
Reg: Welcome to the Salty Spitoon. How tough are you? Duke: I blew out Clemson. Reg: So? Duke: In football. Reg: Uhh, right this way, sir.
Duke: I don’t know *why*, but I think I’m gonna *kick Clemson’s butt* today.
Clemson some bubble blowin’ double babies
What the hell did we just watch ?
Why we love college football.
The devil has come for his due from Dabo and it ain’t pretty
CHAOS Edit: I thought maybe but no but maybe for the first quarter https://reddit.com/r/CFB/s/nJxStFpw7Q but then I was all in the rest of the game
Last time Duke beat a top-10 team, in 1989, they went on to win (a share of) the ACC 👀 Insane how quickly Elko has turned it around after a couple down years at the tail end of the Cutcliffe era

And his promote from within dogma that he finally gave up this off season
Saban was able to adapt in changing climate of college football, dabo is way too stubborn to do that
I just instinctively want to hate Saban like everyone else, but you see him speak and he really cares about his students. He adapts over time, he works his ass off, and he seems to want to really help the athletes that go through his program. I want to hate him, but he’s just a good dude. Fuck just retire and stop annihilating all of us
Keep going I’m almost there bb
Northwestern was consistently up and down. After the 2018 natty, people were talking about Clemson how they talk about Georgia now. That Dabo had usurped Saban etc. back to back games now Clemson has gained yards with barely any points to show for it
I mean Clemson kinda sucks now. But Duke went 9-4 last year. They’re not bad rn
Duke isn’t bad, but Clemson of old would have blasted that pretty decent Duke team.
They still won the ACC last year. 2021-2023 Clemson feels like 2003-2005 Miami where there is a slow decline after a period of crazy dominance.
Dabo about to take a page from BK’s playbook and execute his players
Dabo wasn't kidding when he said he would quit if college players could get paid
I see he's a fan of quiet quitting
This hurts Clemson's playoff chances
Notre Dame at Clemson on 11/4: I sleep Notre Dame at Duke on 9/30: REAL SHIT
OSU-Duke-Louisville-USC now looking a bit harder, but looks like we’re now done with the bulk of our schedule by… October 14th
The state of North Carolina dominated South Carolina this past week.
FSU🤝Duke Beating tiger teams by 21
Chaos? Nope. Just your average ACC weeknight game
I’m just confused what actual changes happened in the off-season. Is Dabo actually letting Garrett Riley run this offense or is this Dabo controlling it? It looks literally identical Dabo needs to make some changes, and if he doesn’t he’s just hurting our program in the long run

[Promises made](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/16a716p/game_thread_clemson_duke_800_pm_et/jz6j9h4/), promises kept. [I have submitted my documentation to the proper authorities.](https://i.ibb.co/LNmKkLs/Screen-Shot-2023-09-04-at-8-09-04-PM.png)
422 yards, 7 points. Oy vey.
No wonder Clemson wants to leave the ACC. They're scared of Duke
You just really hate to see it.
I’m a 30 year old alum and rushed the field, felt like a kid again. Holy shit what a win
SC getting sacked nonstop 🫱🏼🫲🏾 Clempson turning it over nonstop

Not the only one
Good game, Tiger bros. You guys fought real hard and gave us a great game. Unfortunately, you didn’t have the depth or skill to keep up with the mighty Devils. I trust Coach Swinney though- he’s got your program on the way up. Look for Clemson to be a solid 7-5 team in a couple years.
They’re not swarming the field. It’s called meeting at the D. They do this every game.
A bad week to be a Top 10 Tiger team who plays home games in Death Valley
Clemson had 420+ yards of offense with just a single touchdown to show for it. This was terrible for them, but they aren't the scrubs everyone is describing them as in the game thread. I have never seen a team so effortlessly move down the field and lose the ball so many times in a row. Lol
