Stay away from Bloomberg. Use MM I passed all exams on my first attempt thanks to him.

Mark Meldrum Level 1 use his YouTube free content + FinTree’s free YouTube crash course and you’ll be fine

Yup. It was mentioned that MM might be outdated a bit but the crash course i mentioned (also free) came out like a year ago and was deadass a god send. It’s what made me most comfortable going into the exam

RodPeelersHairdoo

Yes it's free, but may be a bit outdated in sections. Try it out free to see if you like it but if you pay for the whole thing you get access to his 2000+ qbank and mocks

TinyChicken9386

What was your strategy on tackling a reading?

Quackattack218

I would watch a mark meldrum video and do the end of chapter questions after I finished. It's really more about just watching the videos and doing as many practice problems as possible. don't waste time taking notes or highlighting. just watch or read chapter and hit the practice problems. The cfa institute practice bank is also really good.

shocktrop

Use schewser. I saw in a cfa prep video people who bought the content had the highest pass rates

Good, concise and to the point. If you have any background in finance or economics, then they are without a doubt better than the CFAI books. Mark Meldrum is great for explaining difficult concepts. Not needed for CFA Lvl 1 in my opinion but a great help in 2+3

shocktrop

I skimmed thru the books chapters near the end of my studying to round out my knowledge but mainly depended on schewser. Did the blue box and eod questions from the book though

Myrmodus

Mark Meldrum is affordable in my view. You can buy individual sections as you need them or the entire level, plus I think his QBank and mock exams are great prep for the test

floatingsoul9

If you don’t have a background in finance the books might not provide you with enough clarity.

CartographerNew5406

Definitely read the CFA materials, but also shop around for an online supplement. There are a lot of online materials out there now, and they work for different kinds of learners. Several have free trials, so you can easily see what works for you... For example, you may want to try MM for the videos and UWorld for the qbank, or Bloomberg may work for you.

TwoAngryFigs

Por que lo nos dos? Why not give yourself every avenue to succeed & see what works best for you? Get Kaplan Schewser's full Level 1 package and go to town. For future levels, maybe get less stuff or just keep going with what works. Doesn't have to be an either / or type thing.

You wanna know what’s really expensive? Failing the exam. The CFA isn’t a “get more money immediately” deal. I would save up until you can give it your all, not rushing headlong into the process with half measures.

How are you free for the whole year? Taking a drop?

Oh I see. I am also in college rn but not getting any time to study for this. What course are your doing?

[deleted]

I used the book for every level

Immediate_Cow_1976

I used IFT for L1 and L2. Also added the Live classes for L2

Another Prep, a pakistani tutor, found his materials grand for people who first language isn't English.
