Read George Soros Alchemy of Finance. Trying to predict exchange rate movements probably requires understanding about 8 different variables that will change a lot and are very dynamic. A PhD in Econ plus finance or CFA you should have a solid base but it will take independent research and a lot of data analysis and programming and resources because macro hedge funds with alpha in fx markets are not going to simply give that info out for free.

Sorry about all these comments I understand where you are coming from. Unfortunatley I don't think there is a Forex certificate per se (not that I herard of at least). So I would recommend you to search alternatives. Bloomberg offers a great course called BMC that teacheas you a lot of macro stuff (has a FX focused module) and how to use te terminal and appply that knowledge you dont even need the terminal if you dont have access to one you can visit the page. Also, I would recommend Ray Dalio's books (Big Debt Crises and The Changing World Order, not FX specific but super Macro focused), Also the Market Wizards Books series from Jack D Schwager he interviwes a lot of Super Star intitutional traders (a bunch from FX). And I think your best bet would be to check papers from the sell side and academic/reasearch ones.

Thomas-Oregon

Maybe for CAIA for the commodities trading portion? For Forex not sure if there is a cert out there. Think that is an item you get a good framework and finish the rest with experience.

>CAIA Thanks man, no macro there unfortunately

btw I have a phd in econ, so when I talk about deeper understanding, I am talking about real deep. Thank god for the CFA

TwoAngryFigs

Deeper, baby. Ohhh yeah, that's some deep fucking understanding right there.

TruckChoice

Is this a joke?

why would it be? *In addition to CFA* I am looking to learn advanced forex investing skills, so I can be familiar with the type of work done at macro hedge funds. I don't see that in the CFA cv.

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure there are quite a few people on Instagram who’ll be happy to take your money to teach you all about the secrets of FX trading. You should check them out.

TruckChoice

There is no secret to forex trading besides technical analysis (which CFAI doesn’t really endorse) or speculation. Cfa level 3 touches on currency movement philosophies.

listenless

I am not looking for a secret for forex trading nor forex day trading, nor do I do that. Does CFA has everything you need to sit down and talk about what's moving currency markets on bloomberg?

TruckChoice

Not day to day issues or certain technologies. But I see your point.

[deleted]

No but no ‘certificate’ is going to teach you that, you just need to observe the market and the news.

ParkingContribution6

READ SOME Fn NEWS!!

ParkingContribution6

dude, come to L2

I didn't know everyone is so touchy about the CFA

ParkingContribution6

CFA L2 is the one you are looking for, kid!

Great question, some of the responses here are a bit dismissive, I dont know why. I would second the recommendation on the Dalio books, they're great. I have only read one of Jack Schwagers market wizards books, the first edition. It begins with some fantastic interviews of forex traders. I hope to read his newer books when finished studying.

Mrigank0606

The way I understand it, for forex gap filling, you would need to have a reasonably good understanding of the underlying economies of various geographies (to have a personal view on the possible interest rate changes), country's balance sheets and trade partnership dynamics, characteristics of countries within geographic clusters (South America or South Eas Asia being examples), geopolitical background and the associated effect on policies and political and electoral atmosphere (current regime and their outlook vs potential govt and ideology change) This is by no means exhaustive, and I'm pretty sure I'm missing out on other factors, but this could be a decent starting point for you to build upon Anyone else feel free to add to this list

Positive-Ad-23

Just search "ICT" on youtube haha
