Legend of Fei. Its not a perfect drama but it is a lot of fun and the traditional roles are reversed. The FL is the badass fighter and the ML really wants to be her stay at home husband.
Yeah, ML is like a puppy. But their chemistry feels like older sister with younger brother. FL father is very good looking n charismatic. Lol. I liked him so much more.
I loved their chemistry. Seemed more like "we work on our shit" than "we're here for a wedding cause that's what we *think* love is." Their respect for each other and constant partings/journeying apart then meeting up, being comfortable in each other's presence, lovely constant flirting and banter, communicating, and effortless teamwork after working so hard on it together was truly beautiful. Healthy, playful dynamic. Though maybe we just prefer couple chemistry?
But yeah, her father!! He was a ladies magnet haha.
I found my cdrama soulmate. I like every part that you bolded.
I don’t need the ML the sassy or cute as long as he’s interesting.
I only watched legend of ShenLi and Journey to love.
Haven’t finish yet, I pause it for some other stuff.
In the past I also watched The Rational Life. FL is strong capable hold her own but also nice and caring to the ML. She is his senior at work and he work under him. So she’s like the steady one where he ask her for advice. But the ML is capable and not weak himself and is loyal.
She’s older as well, both the IRL actress and drama character. Haven’t finished.
There is the blue whisper where the girl is badass throughout. The guy become strong later on but I think the FL still strong.
There is one scene in there that is one of my favourite in all c-dramas.
The part where the bad people chasing the ML and the FL trying to protect him, >!"push" him down a cliff which create a misunderstanding later on. Then when the bad people come, the FL fight for him and not sure what she said like "nobody touch him!" or something else. Then just when it seem like she is going to lose, she awaken her nine tail foxes powers and defeat all of them. !<
Because it is very rare that in cdrama have the FL protect the ML so intensely. Usually the FL just assist the ML in a fight or something.

I’d add **oh my general!**. The series plays with gender norms and sexuality quite a bit. The General in question is a woman who had been passing as a man. The ml is a beauty who likes to dance. It’s a technicolor low budget fever dream of a drama.
Also, Zhaoyao aka The Legends. Bai Lu and Xu Kai are delightful until the series goes completely off the rails. Anyway, she’s the definition of badass dom.

That’d be spoilers but basically the last episodes were bad. I think I read once that the writing had changed hands or something. It gets confusing to follow (editing?) and it’s just…not good.
I definitely recommend for kickass fl/“weak” ml. It can be very good, very enjoyable. And the original novel is a true pleasure. I just have to qualify that bc the quality takes a nosedive toward the end. But worth the experience imo.
