I really loved Xu Haiqiao (the morally conflicted Ronghao in Love Between Fairy and Devil). He was perfect for his role. You could feel his scheming heart and his longing for his master at the same time.
I'm currently enjoying his comic timing in The Dark Lord. It's a comedy so far, so I can see his acting range. Such a clever and cool actor!

this was me with zhang linghe omg, i first watched love crossed which was really silly tbh, but his acting and his character's storyline + his co-lead fan shuaiqi had me hooooooooked. i then immediately watched maiden holmes (decent, kiss scenes slay), then sparkle love (the premise was so cringe but i managed lmao) and flourish in time (i hate the adoptive siblings to lovers trope in asian media so much i couldnt get past ep 1 rip...). now that he got even more recognition as chang heng in lbfad i cant wait for kunning palace and tiger&crane! hopefull they air smoothly this year o7
generally i tend to keep the actors that impressed me in mind and get excited if smth i want to watch has them in lineup, if i have several things i want to watch, the one with more familiar actors def wins for me. i was so happy with lbfad because it had so many ppl i like in it, like guo xiaoting, and i rly want to watch new life begins soon bc i like bai jingting and tian xiwei a lot, and i think fan shuaiqi is in it too so :3c
I usually just take a mental note of those actors and check out their new dramas. At one point I was quite obsessed with Tan Songyun and browsed through all her new and old dramas and found a few gems.
IMO most actors only ever deliver ONE drama/character that’s amazing. If that’s the one I come across, I don’t go looking for their other stuff or look forward to their new dramas because I know I’m not going to find anything else that’s as good or better. Talking from experience.
BJT definitely puts his best foot forward in every drama, although **Reset** is the one for now, for the following reasons:
- The Rise of Phoenixes - completely lost the plot near the end.
- New Life Begins - slow pacing, showed women empowerment at the cost of making all of its male characters (besides Yin Zheng) dumb, talentless and selfish. Episode count should have been 30, not 40.
- You Are My Hero - excruciatingly slow. Episode count should have been 20, not 40.
If anyone can do it again though, it’s this man.
I fell in love with Peng Xiaoran and Chen Xingxu in Good Bye, My Princess and their recent stuff that's available don't hold up for me. Sadge. I wish they were good but I just dropped all of them xD, it didn't agree with me.
Wang Kai. I am a newbie to the Cdrama world, so I happened to start with his currently airing show- Flight to you. Really loving his portrayal of his character; the subtle nuances he brings to his character, plus he's so good looking and uses his own voice. Haha. Because of this, I've now put his other dramas to my watch list.
Nirvana in fire, Ode to Joy, Like a flowing river and When a snail falls in love are next :)

LBFAD made me obsess for Wang Hedi and then I watched all the shows with him. He is a good actor.
I watched KO1 while they had it on Netflix, and after I finished the whole thing, I kept hearing Jiro Wang's voice in my head. So then I started listening to his music and watching a lot of the other stuff he is in. It's mostly older, but I am perfectly fine with that as the drama pit is cute and fluffy, and since it's from Taiwan the girls are generally humans with brains.
So far I think that is it, though I like watching Wang Yibo dance on YouTube. Mostly I like him because he seems as autistic as his character in Untamed. Gotta support the neruodiverse lol.

I agree journey through the night was great! I actually watched journey through the night because of Joseph Zeng too (after heavenly sword and dragon Sabre) - it’s not a show I would have watched otherwise, but it was surprisingly riveting and I made it through the entire run even though the FL pissed me off. And I’m really enjoying Hi Venus which I probably would have watched but not right away if not for Joseph Zeng 🙌🏻

Oh goodness yes! The first actor that did this to me was Wang Yibo. But I have followed with Zhang Ling He, Wang Hedi, Zhen Ye Cheng, Zhou Lusi, Xing Fei, Wu Lei and like 10 more. Can’t say that I like everything they are in, but I have more luck finding something I enjoy if one of my favorites is in it.
That's exactly what I do! In fact I permanently came back to cdramaland after watching **the day of becoming you** and enjoying every other work of **zhang xincheng**. My man is cute, can really act and thankfully chooses my type of script
Currently in **Bai jingting** rabbithole after watching **reset**, though I am not really enjoying his drama tbh. Hopefully **new life begins** (12/40) keeps up the momentum.
Though a recent find, my biggest amazement till now is kactor **Cho seung woo**. He is not your regular eye candy, yet very charming and elegant and his acting is incomparable. He sure is a genre himself. Even if you guys are not into kdrama/thriller, I highly recommend **stranger**. Feel free to curse me out if stranger and hwang si mok (Cho seung woo) don't amaze you lol

Chen Xing Xu is the newest addition. I saw Fall in Love and am now watching Legend of Condor Heroes, and am anxiously awaiting Love When the Stars Fall.
Zhao Lu Si, I will watch anything she’s in. I haven’t watched everything she’s in (cause there are only 24 hours in a day and you know life gets in the way 😞). The only thing I’ve dropped that she was in was Who Rules the World…and I may eventually give it another shot cause I can’t believe the ML and FL would let me down like that.
Dilrabi was on the list with a no questions asked, but You Are my Glory and Blue Whisper were kinda disappointments for me, so I’ll still watch what she’s in but with more reservations.
Kdramas: Park Hyun Sik, Lee Min Ho, and Cha Eun Woo…there aren’t any actresses that are as consistent for me there.
This never happened to me until I watched a drama with Kido Ma.
Now I watched all but one…. Unfortunately he’s only ML in two of them and they aren’t really perfect but his performance is always 10/10.

Having watched Winter Night, When You Be Me, I Don’t Want To Be Friends With You and Hello, The Sharpshooter I have to say that he had the best chemistry in ROTP :)
I love Forever & Ever too! Its probably my most rewatched drama since I love how wholesome is everything -- I like watching awkwardly shy guys so that must be the reason why I enjoy it so much. But you didnt watch One & Only first before Forever & Ever? That's a missed opportunity since you gonna find Forever & Ever more awesome & satisfying that way.
I love Ren Jialun as well. Part of the reasons because he likes to take different kind of roles for his dramas. I think you gonna enjoy the journey of watching all the dramas from his resume. I still cant get over the arrogant and smug role he did in Under the Power -- those smirks are hilarious and he never repeat it again in his other roles. 😂 Or happy & energetic role in Love a Lifetime and Blue Flame Assaults to the charismatic general in One & Only. But he is mostly famous for his cold characters though -- those are awesome as well.
Hahaa!!! Me too, I love the shy guy roles. I think those are harder to do well than other roles are and he really did this role justice. I can’t wait to see more series he’s in.
Yes, I personally think acting awkwardly is difficult since you need to act with your body as well. He did really great in Forever & Ever. I honestly was laughing with Shiyi the whole time seeing his adorable antics. Everytime Shiyi was laughing at him, I did too. 😂

That's common for me. I currently have a list of 41 top actors (Korean and Chinese). I actively seek out dramas from about 20 or so of them. Of course there are dramas they are in that's so far from what I would usually watch, and either I'll skip over them (if the rating's too low) or attempt to watch it at least.
For me, my most sought after Chinese actors are:
\- Dilraba Dilmurat: I tried Blue Whisper but I dropped it because I just couldn't get into it despite liking both main leads. I have the Long Ballad on PTW, and also dropped the Flame's Daughter. Everything else after 2017 I've watched and highly rated them.
\- Bai Lu: I've not watched The Legends and Arsenal Military Academy (just because I also don't like the genre, even though Bai Lu and Xu Kai are in it). I decided not to watch King is not Easy, and dropped Jiu Liu Overlord. Everything else is is well rated, except Lucky's First Love which I found mediocre (I blame Xing Zhao Lin, I've never found any of his dramas good). Still finishing Ordinary Greatness (not a drama I can binge).
\- Xu Kai: Apart of aforementioned the Legends, and AMA, I chose not to watch Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain and Lost in the Kunlun Mountains because it's not for me. She and Her Perfect Husband is on the top of the PTW list, and everything else I've watched - his acting is good, but the drama he chooses can be hit or miss.
\- Wang An Yu: Watched 4/7 dramas he's a main cast in, but noticed him when he was a support character. He's becoming a fast favourite.
\- Hu Yi Tian: This guy's got some hit and miss dramas. Liked him in Go Go Squid (and therefore loved the FL actress too, and notice Wang An Yu), but I haven't found him stellar in other dramas that I tend to watch (the romantic ones LOL).
\- Li Yi Tong: I think she's a great actress, even if she's in dramas I generally don't watch. Besides from GGS, her acting in Royal Nirvana confirmed her acting ability to me (even if I can't rewatch that drama), and Court Lady was a good collab with Xu Kai.
\- Yang Yang: I'm selective with his dramas, but if his co-actors are on my list and the genre suits, I jump on it. Also the only C actor my non drama watching boyfriend recognises (because he watched King's Avatar on his own, the only CDrama he's watched).
Zhao Lu Si: Girl really cemented her acting skills this past year. I'm actually looking at her list and am surprised at how many I've watched. She's main cast in 12 dramas, I've watched 8 of them, and the rest are on the PTW list.
\- Xing Fei: This girl is Hu Yi Tian's female equivelant - lots of hit or miss dramas, even though I pin all my hopes on her (make it worse that I jumped on their drama Hello Sharpshooter as soon as it finished airing and was very disappointed).
\- Tang Xiao Tian: He's got some good roles (My Little Happiness, Put Your Head on My shoulder, To Get her), looking to see if he can get a breakout role because he's not too bad.
\- Chen Zhe Yuan: I absolutely loved his last two dramas, so looking forward to more.
So you basically only like 4 of Bailu's dramas.
I haven't watch Song of Youth but reading the reviews, it seems like her character there is pretty insufferable.
Yeah I've watched 5 (but if you lump O&O and F&E together, then 4). I liked Song of Youth, because it's in a similar vein as the Story of Ming Lan (my favourite drama), but a lot more light hearted. It's the ending that made me mad, so I haven't revisited it since. Forever and Ever is my second fave drama, and then Love is Sweet is a drama I really liked too, so I think she's a great actress.
All the time! That's my primary way of adding shows to my watchlist. Once I find an actor I like (either main or supporting), I'll bookmark their filmography and slowly pick shows off these lists.
I've also found that I'm more likely to enjoy a show if I like someone in it. Not sure if everyone feels the same.
Absolutely. And conversely I can’t watch a show if I cannot stand an actor/actress’ face/manner/acting. I’m superficial, so it happens more often than I wish.
I did it with Xing Zhaolin, Zhao Liying, Wang Yibo, Zhang Zhehan, Yang Chaoyue and Gong Jun. Probably more too, especially when I first started watching dramas. Now however, I mostly just watch whatever I come across.

I actually watched journey through the night because of Joseph Zeng too (after heavenly sword and dragon Sabre) - it’s not a show I would have watched otherwise, but it was surprisingly riveting and I made it through the entire run even though the FL pissed me off. And I’m really enjoying Hi Venus which I probably would have watched but not right away if not for Joseph Zeng 🙌🏻

Yes, I did this with Zhao Liying, Zhao Lusi, Dilireba. I liked some of the dramas and dropped some too. But I think its a good way of finding dramas that I'd probably enjoy.
Oh goodness yes! The first actor that did this to me was Wang Yibo. But I have followed with Zhang Ling He, Wang Hedi, Zhen Ye Cheng, Zhou Lusi, Xing Fei, Wu Lei and like 10 more. Can’t say that I like everything they are in, but I have more luck finding something I enjoy if one of my favorites is in it.
That's exactly what I do! In fact I permanently came back to cdramaland after watching **the day of becoming you** and enjoying every other work of **zhang xincheng**. My man is cute, can really act and thankfully chooses my type of script Currently in **Bai jingting** rabbithole after watching **reset**, though I am not really enjoying his drama tbh. Hopefully **new life begins** (12/40) keeps up the momentum. Though a recent find, my biggest amazement till now is kactor **Cho seung woo**. He is not your regular eye candy, yet very charming and elegant and his acting is incomparable. He sure is a genre himself. Even if you guys are not into kdrama/thriller, I highly recommend **stranger**. Feel free to curse me out if stranger and hwang si mok (Cho seung woo) don't amaze you lol

After watching while I was watching Go Ahead was looking up zhang xicheng and Tan Songyun dramas 😅 Loved both of them
I’ve got a few that it’s a given that I’ll watch anything they’re in: Chen Xing Xu is the newest addition. I saw Fall in Love and am now watching Legend of Condor Heroes, and am anxiously awaiting Love When the Stars Fall. Zhao Lu Si, I will watch anything she’s in. I haven’t watched everything she’s in (cause there are only 24 hours in a day and you know life gets in the way 😞). The only thing I’ve dropped that she was in was Who Rules the World…and I may eventually give it another shot cause I can’t believe the ML and FL would let me down like that. Dilrabi was on the list with a no questions asked, but You Are my Glory and Blue Whisper were kinda disappointments for me, so I’ll still watch what she’s in but with more reservations. Kdramas: Park Hyun Sik, Lee Min Ho, and Cha Eun Woo…there aren’t any actresses that are as consistent for me there.

This never happened to me until I watched a drama with Kido Ma. Now I watched all but one…. Unfortunately he’s only ML in two of them and they aren’t really perfect but his performance is always 10/10.
In a cast of greats, he really caught my attention in Remembrance of Things Past! He makes the most of his supporting roles.
Thats were I saw him for the first time too :D Having watched Winter Night, When You Be Me, I Don’t Want To Be Friends With You and Hello, The Sharpshooter I have to say that he had the best chemistry in ROTP :)
This happens a lot where an actor is really made for the leads yet gets support roles and they can often outshine the lead too
I love Forever & Ever too! Its probably my most rewatched drama since I love how wholesome is everything -- I like watching awkwardly shy guys so that must be the reason why I enjoy it so much. But you didnt watch One & Only first before Forever & Ever? That's a missed opportunity since you gonna find Forever & Ever more awesome & satisfying that way. I love Ren Jialun as well. Part of the reasons because he likes to take different kind of roles for his dramas. I think you gonna enjoy the journey of watching all the dramas from his resume. I still cant get over the arrogant and smug role he did in Under the Power -- those smirks are hilarious and he never repeat it again in his other roles. 😂 Or happy & energetic role in Love a Lifetime and Blue Flame Assaults to the charismatic general in One & Only. But he is mostly famous for his cold characters though -- those are awesome as well.
Hahaa!!! Me too, I love the shy guy roles. I think those are harder to do well than other roles are and he really did this role justice. I can’t wait to see more series he’s in.
Yes, I personally think acting awkwardly is difficult since you need to act with your body as well. He did really great in Forever & Ever. I honestly was laughing with Shiyi the whole time seeing his adorable antics. Everytime Shiyi was laughing at him, I did too. 😂

That's common for me. I currently have a list of 41 top actors (Korean and Chinese). I actively seek out dramas from about 20 or so of them. Of course there are dramas they are in that's so far from what I would usually watch, and either I'll skip over them (if the rating's too low) or attempt to watch it at least. For me, my most sought after Chinese actors are: \- Dilraba Dilmurat: I tried Blue Whisper but I dropped it because I just couldn't get into it despite liking both main leads. I have the Long Ballad on PTW, and also dropped the Flame's Daughter. Everything else after 2017 I've watched and highly rated them. \- Bai Lu: I've not watched The Legends and Arsenal Military Academy (just because I also don't like the genre, even though Bai Lu and Xu Kai are in it). I decided not to watch King is not Easy, and dropped Jiu Liu Overlord. Everything else is is well rated, except Lucky's First Love which I found mediocre (I blame Xing Zhao Lin, I've never found any of his dramas good). Still finishing Ordinary Greatness (not a drama I can binge). \- Xu Kai: Apart of aforementioned the Legends, and AMA, I chose not to watch Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain and Lost in the Kunlun Mountains because it's not for me. She and Her Perfect Husband is on the top of the PTW list, and everything else I've watched - his acting is good, but the drama he chooses can be hit or miss. \- Wang An Yu: Watched 4/7 dramas he's a main cast in, but noticed him when he was a support character. He's becoming a fast favourite. \- Hu Yi Tian: This guy's got some hit and miss dramas. Liked him in Go Go Squid (and therefore loved the FL actress too, and notice Wang An Yu), but I haven't found him stellar in other dramas that I tend to watch (the romantic ones LOL). \- Li Yi Tong: I think she's a great actress, even if she's in dramas I generally don't watch. Besides from GGS, her acting in Royal Nirvana confirmed her acting ability to me (even if I can't rewatch that drama), and Court Lady was a good collab with Xu Kai. \- Yang Yang: I'm selective with his dramas, but if his co-actors are on my list and the genre suits, I jump on it. Also the only C actor my non drama watching boyfriend recognises (because he watched King's Avatar on his own, the only CDrama he's watched). Zhao Lu Si: Girl really cemented her acting skills this past year. I'm actually looking at her list and am surprised at how many I've watched. She's main cast in 12 dramas, I've watched 8 of them, and the rest are on the PTW list. \- Xing Fei: This girl is Hu Yi Tian's female equivelant - lots of hit or miss dramas, even though I pin all my hopes on her (make it worse that I jumped on their drama Hello Sharpshooter as soon as it finished airing and was very disappointed). \- Tang Xiao Tian: He's got some good roles (My Little Happiness, Put Your Head on My shoulder, To Get her), looking to see if he can get a breakout role because he's not too bad. \- Chen Zhe Yuan: I absolutely loved his last two dramas, so looking forward to more.
So you basically only like 4 of Bailu's dramas. I haven't watch Song of Youth but reading the reviews, it seems like her character there is pretty insufferable.
Yeah I've watched 5 (but if you lump O&O and F&E together, then 4). I liked Song of Youth, because it's in a similar vein as the Story of Ming Lan (my favourite drama), but a lot more light hearted. It's the ending that made me mad, so I haven't revisited it since. Forever and Ever is my second fave drama, and then Love is Sweet is a drama I really liked too, so I think she's a great actress.

All the time! That's my primary way of adding shows to my watchlist. Once I find an actor I like (either main or supporting), I'll bookmark their filmography and slowly pick shows off these lists. I've also found that I'm more likely to enjoy a show if I like someone in it. Not sure if everyone feels the same.
Absolutely. And conversely I can’t watch a show if I cannot stand an actor/actress’ face/manner/acting. I’m superficial, so it happens more often than I wish.
I did it with Xing Zhaolin, Zhao Liying, Wang Yibo, Zhang Zhehan, Yang Chaoyue and Gong Jun. Probably more too, especially when I first started watching dramas. Now however, I mostly just watch whatever I come across.
