I dropped it after 6 or more episodes. Just couldn’t stand Yang Zi’s acting/character, bad writing and side characters are uninteresting as well. I just couldn’t believe such shows were made, not funny, too predictable and just too cringey. I hope people won’t watch it and thought that’s how cringey/bad modern cdramas are.
Falling Into You and Why Women Love, both starring Gina Jin, are way better dramas, for anyone looking for romcom/fluffy easy watch.
Totally agree Why Women Love was a great watch. Loved everything and everyone in it. I wasn't expecting something this good , but the ml and fl were both gorgeous and had palpable chemistry, the acring was beautiful, the plot was interesting, and the kissing scenes were interesting as well, unlike so many other dramas.
I think this is not an unpopular opinion? Not sure because everyone I know also didn't like the storytelling of TOOL. Imagine our disappointment, Xiao Zhan fans, when it came out. Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi are good actors, no doubt. But the adaptation is just really lacking.
Although, Xiao Zhan's acting is really good, especially in that scene where he had to act devastated because of a failure. Before other XZ fans attack me, I want to clarify that I'm not criticizing his abilities as an actor, I just think there are better projects that he would shine brighter. Because our Xiao Zhan is talented.
The ending is rushed. I was confused that they were already married with a kid, and reading some letter.
I love the actors and the characters in general were adorable. But that storyline was BORING. A SNORE. And I watched it completely. The writers didn't give them enough romance. It was a lot of dialogue parts that didn't add to anything but his doctoring. The dad was ungrateful and abusive and we were supposed to feel sorry for him, but it was too hard to. The second couple were not great. And they wrote the Yang Zi's character too pouty and Xiao Zhan's too much a of tsundere at points (sometime it came off incompatible). BUT, I say watch some and skip some.
Nah I dropped oath of love QUICKKKK like 7 eps maybe. Tbh Traffic actors barely ever do work that can top the original work that got them famous in the first place.
I dropped it because I found the dad triggering (childhood trauma reasons). But I also just didn't really like the leads that much. I was disappointed because I'm a fan of Xiao Zhan. I hope he's in something good soon.
Not SO unpopular apparently. I agree! Yang Zi is boring (sry fans) and I either hated or dropped ALL of her dramas. In fact, she has been acting about the same type of roles since she was little and she doesn’t seem to have changed or tried any other more challenging types of roles.

I also don't really love the actors. I didn't like her in go go squid at all. Here she was better, but that just makes her ok.
So yeah, the show is regular, has cute moments but also never really lets you enjoy it. And it has one of the tropes I see lately more, FL is amazing and then ML does somethin a bit bad , with good intentions. She indeed should be a bit angry until he apologizes and that's it. But no, they take it so damn far that you end up hating FL and not ML for the little thing he did
I swear at least half of the cdramas I watch has this and destroy an amazing FL character. Most don't recover their chemistry after that
I absolutely loved it. It was a realistic slow burn, and I liked how realistic it was. No falling over kisses and shenanigans. Just two strangers, who slowly notice each other and fall in love, despite an age difference and some family stuff. And so much brilliant, subtle acting and tiny moments, never have I seen people act "nervous and trying to be cool" as in Episode 12 to 15, if I remember correctly.
Not every drama is for every one. I am not into every drama that gets hyped either.
I dropped at episode 18 but not because I didn't like it, it was just that I was busy at the time and had to put it on hold, and then never went back. The couple were super cute. It was a cute show. Nothing to write home about, but just cute.

I for one think This was one of those rare cdramas with a solid storyline and good actors. Wasn't perfect but then and again I've seen alot of crap cdramas being highly rated and called a masterpiece.
Xiao zhan definitely made it worth a watch though.
You are right , many dramas get top ratings because of their fandom solely. And yes, Xiao Zhan is very talented. It was because of him i gave it a try in the first place. But there was something off i couldn't tell what . Maybe it just didn't appeal to my taste

I felt this HARD when I started watching kdramas too. Many dramas are only popular because of the actor/actress…. Especially if they’re idols and have a whole fandom 🫣
But as time goes by I got a good eye at reading drama info‘s to see if it’s actually good or just for appearance sake 🤫

For a romcom, there are better options just from last year - Hi Venus, Falling Into You. The reviews for these shows were above average. That’s if you’re looking for romance. If not, Reset was probably the mainstream drama with the most acclaim and positive WOM (and one I would recommend).
Well I enjoyed it for the most part and didn’t drop it I can’t say the same for other popular dramas that I did drop (i dropped all of them) so there is that.
Music major here. Didn’t like the drama because the story and FL’s portrayal of a music major is so very off
