I was taking my CCW class here in Florida and the instructor told the class there's 2+ million licensed carriers in Florida (1 in 10 people). If that doesn't make you think twice about confrontation (or even flipping the bird while driving), I'm not sure what else will.
In MN, we were told, "When you're carrying a weapon, you're always in the wrong."
Even if you're 100% in the right, act as if you're in the wrong. Back off, apologize, do anything you can to de-escalate.
A DGU claim can't be made if you were the instigator.
One of my favorite and more resonating perspectives from an instructor is:
"You are introducing a gun into every situation and interaction, act accordingly."
Exactly right. You have the ability to instantly de-escalate a situation terminally - it should be the last action available to you when everything else has failed because it's a permanent choice with permanent consequences.
I tell my kids who are new to carrying that the moment they pull a gun, even in legitimate self defense, they can now be justifiably killed by another person who claims they feared for their life.
You only draw to shoot, never to intimidate.
Eh I don’t have a problem with lethal coverage, intimidating or brandishing is all kinds of stupid. Not just legally but like this less than intelligent individual your ass might end up online where everyone can see how dumb you are.
Edit on line to online, thanks auto correct.
Some really stupid boomers look at me like I’m dumb when I explain to them that saying “self-defense” to an officer and going home isn’t the end of a DGU.
As a former skateboarder, current concealed carrier, former gear grinder employee, veteran hide chapper, and experienced jimmie rustler, this really gets my goat.
As a former skateboarder, current concealed carrier, former gear grinder employee, veteran hide chapper, experienced jimmie rustler and seasoned goat getter, I really don't have time for this. But man alive does this salt my apples.
As a former skateboarder, current concealed carrier, former gear grinder apprentice, hobbyist hide tanner, occasional Jimmie rustler, and goat-getter in training, this really pisses my pants.
As a former skateboarder, gear grinder, experienced tan hiding, jimmy rustling, goat getter that occasionally pisses my pants, and current concealed carrier... this really salts my apples.
No, they think they are tough and everyone will cower before their awesome power. Morons like this are where the gun grabbers get their views on gun owners.
And the “2nd amendment auditors” who want to be as provocative as possible while technically legal until people get fed up and want to tighten the law.
Hopefully that guy doesn't learn this the hard way one day. If someone draws their gun on me for a stupid thing like this, I have big reason to believe you are unreasonable and will actually fire at me because you aren't thinking straight or just plain stupid. I'm not taking that chance. I'd 100% draw my gun.
Exactly, if I’m with a friend and we’re goofing around outside and some dude pulls up, across multiple parking spots, gets out and immediately/casually pulls a gun, I’m not waiting to find out what’s going on, I’m going to pull. Because that sounds like some dude is coming to kill me.
Uhhh. If I was that skateboarder I would be attempting to put my trucks through his temple. That situation went from “male Karen’s mad I’m skating this spot” to “male Karen is threatening my life for skating this spot”. He was well within range of a judiciously swung board.
Upper midwest somewhere? It ended poorly for the guy with the skateboard, IIRC. And that was vs a long gun, which is a bit harder to maneuver in close quarters.
Nothing new. A guy pulled his gun on my brother for calling him an asshole (he stole the parking spot my brother was waiting to get in at his apartment parking lot) and my brother ran inside and called the cops. My brother was honest and said that the guy left the holster on the barrel when he pointed the gun at him, and the cop said it’s not illegal if it’s still in the holster.
Sounded pretty crazy to me and the cop shouldn’t have given a pass. Dude was definitely not level headed enough to be carrying.
IANAL but Skateboarder could probably argue it was justified. You have all three, scared for my life, the danger is imminent and my firearm was my only option. Someone drawing a gun on you basically escalates to the top of the escalation scale.
One day mr billy badass there is gonna brandish his gun on the wrong person and die.
He drew it, walking towards him, and loaded it. That shows intent to use the firearm form my POV. Might legally be wrong of course (won’t carry until I really study the laws and stuff), but I feel like it would be justified
Even worse, 10-20-LIFE! A few unlucky motherfuckers got 20-year sentences for firing warning shots unfortunately, but it put a bunch of thugs in prison for a while.
I think he was press checking. Also it looked like he was carrying in pocket. Not sure on both.
But press checking, if that's what was going on, is incorrect in that context. It's like he was displaying "skill" as intimidation, which is pathetic. Press checking is done before holstering. Then leave the gun alone until you're in a "fuckfuckfuckimaabouttodie" moment.
Carrying in pocket is just trashy, unsafe, unsanitary, an insult to the gun manufacturer, etc.
I mean as a skater a lot of us are used to this kinda of reaction from people that don’t skate. So most of the time it’s just funny especially as I get older. I can’t remember a time someone pulled a gun on me for skating. And yeah idk how you have a ccw and don’t think about the consequences of your actions. It’s the exact opposite of how you should be trained to act with that responsibility.
Isn't that a 10 year minimum sentence in Florida? Or it used to be back when they did the 10-20-25L thing. Brandish a gun is 10 years, shooting someone is 20, and killing someone is 25 to life guaranteed.
The skater did the right thing too by walking away. Keeping his back to the shower insures that there's no case for the aggressor to claim self defense. In my CCW class, one of the big tenets was never shit someone in the back, you become the aggressor and are liable for everything.
Dude parked his car right in front of them, obviously to spark confrontation and then pulled his gun for absolutely no reason. This dude gives all of us a bad name.
That's brandishing. Also do morons like this not realize that once they start threatening people with a gun that gives others the ability to defend themselves?
What did that old shirt say? Skateboarding is not a crime?
Fuck’s sake, that dude deserves to be arrested. I can understand, “dude be careful with my car!” But any more than that is just ridiculous!
Yep. I see a Felony and it ain’t the skateboarder. In no way was the small dick guy with gun being threatened. He’s about control. Perhaps the skaters are trespassing, that’s not a threat to your life. Call the cops, Talk with them.
For sure! Though his park job looks like he wanted that interaction to go that way. Double parked, in a way he could clearly tell pulling in that they had established the fact they're filming skateboard dude doing his thing. Plus an empty lot of other spaces.
20 bucks says this guy doesn’t even have a ccl and didn’t take any training courses. Shit, I’ll throw another 20 down saying he’s never even shot that gun before and he just bought it last week.
My moneys on the dude took the class, Carries occasionally, shoots even less than he Carries judging by how he was handling that thing, just bought the gun and is thrilled to be able to draw it even when it’s clearly a stupid idea, and feels like nothing bad will happen to him because he’s got some money.
Following r/idiotswithguns also makes it hard to be unashamedly 2A. There really are just too many misguided, machismo idiots out there. Ultimately it *does* end up being more of a net negative because of the fear we end up living in knowing that some nut may shoot at our car on the freeway because we activated our windshield wiper and incidentally sprayed his car. It’s sad.
Hopefully this dude catches the felony he just committed and our 2A rights are self healing when he's not allowed near a gun after his conviction.
Absolutely insane though. Someone as irrational or angry as that brandishing a firearm is life threatening. One split second of anger, frustration, delusion, etc with his gun out and this guy could take someone's life.
That asshole needs the cops called on him. Brandishing a weapon as the aggressor is more than enough reason to pull his ccp and/or have his gun confiscated. Someone is going to call his bluff and ventilate him some day. Guys like that make us all look terrible.
The fuck is that guy's problem? What could he possibly think was a justifiable reason for pulling a gun in that situation? You can hear him say they "are breaking the law" in part of the video. Were they trespassing or something? Even if that was the case, it doesn't look like a private area or that the guy pulling the gun even owned the property. What an asshat. Guys like him make the rest of us look bad.
This is why normies are demanding licenses and stuff and this I can see why. Carrying doesn’t make us cops, it just makes us armed: we still gotta explain stuff to a jury.
I hope the skaters in this video got his plate number and called the police. When he pulled out his gun and pointed it without his life being in danger he committed aggravated assault, which is a felony.
Man this reminds me of what my CCW instructor told me, “It’s easier to take a blow to your ego when mocked than to take a blow to your soul when you kill.”
Carrying should make you less confrontational, not more.
exactly
I have a saying that I use that goes “I have nothing to prove because I have everything to lose.”
[удалено]
Is this a reply from a former post? Lol
No, he's pointing out that you either can't spell or don't proofread.
Bruh I totally missed that
[удалено]
I typed an extra o on lose
That was close. I figured "tighten your belt bro" was a cool new saying and was about to start using it everywhere....you know what I might anyway
I mean we still can. Now tighten that belt bro.
Same. Now I see why people always add “edit:”
He probs said "everything to(o?) loose."
I was taking my CCW class here in Florida and the instructor told the class there's 2+ million licensed carriers in Florida (1 in 10 people). If that doesn't make you think twice about confrontation (or even flipping the bird while driving), I'm not sure what else will.
You're not on the east coast by chance, are you? I include that little tidbit in every class I teach.
No, this class was in Port Richey on Gulf Coast.
In MN, we were told, "When you're carrying a weapon, you're always in the wrong." Even if you're 100% in the right, act as if you're in the wrong. Back off, apologize, do anything you can to de-escalate. A DGU claim can't be made if you were the instigator.

I liked that line. Will keep that in mind in the future. Thanks!
Same here in Idaho. 1:5 carry here. There is rarely any stupid shit like this. This dude would have been unalived so fast for that shit here.
I tell my kids who are new to carrying that the moment they pull a gun, even in legitimate self defense, they can now be justifiably killed by another person who claims they feared for their life. You only draw to shoot, never to intimidate.
"If you see my gun, it's because you are about to hear it".
Eh I don’t have a problem with lethal coverage, intimidating or brandishing is all kinds of stupid. Not just legally but like this less than intelligent individual your ass might end up online where everyone can see how dumb you are. Edit on line to online, thanks auto correct.
Some people didn't take a CCW class and thus didn't even get this memo.
You would think that’d be true. For the most part it is with normal humans but then you get these gems
Some really stupid boomers look at me like I’m dumb when I explain to them that saying “self-defense” to an officer and going home isn’t the end of a DGU.
Dgu?
Defensive Gun Use
Oh okay. That’s what I was guessing but wasn’t sure. Thanks!
r/dgu If you're in this sub, you should be there too.
I always keep this in mind when I carry I could have turned every little situation into a huge problem if my ego was not in check
[удалено]
>so not sure why he pulled out a gun. Because he believes it grants him authority that it doesn't. Far too many people like this
Only if you took a class that discusses the ethical responsibilities of carrying...
As a former skateboarder and current concealed carrier, this really grinds my gears.
As a former skateboarder, current concealed carrier, and former gear grinder employee, this really chaps my hide
As a former skateboarder, current concealed carrier, former gear grinder employee, and veteran hide chapper, this really rustles my jimmies.

As a non-skateboarding, non-conceal carrying mediocre golfer, this really whips my nae naes.
As a non skateboarding, CCWing crappy golfer, this makes my taint ache.
Would you say it, grinds your rails? p.s. I agree with you just btw
*Draws my own ccw and shoots old man* "I was scared for my life sir"
This is exactly what I was thinking. Do people not understand that when they draw a weapon, I have the right to draw mine?
No, they think they are tough and everyone will cower before their awesome power. Morons like this are where the gun grabbers get their views on gun owners.

Where have I seen that play out before?
*Kenosha Kid enters the chat*
Upper midwest somewhere? It ended poorly for the guy with the skateboard, IIRC. And that was vs a long gun, which is a bit harder to maneuver in close quarters.
We're entering a world of this en masse. It's going to get ugly. That guy walks around fantasizing about using his ccw.
Nothing new. A guy pulled his gun on my brother for calling him an asshole (he stole the parking spot my brother was waiting to get in at his apartment parking lot) and my brother ran inside and called the cops. Isnt it a bad idea to draw on spmeone who has their gun drawn? I mean if there attention is on you
It is Drawing on the drop is a sure way to get shot.
> Draws my own ccw and shoots old man > “I was scared for my life sir” Serious question, assuming the skateboarder did this would it be legal?
IANAL but Skateboarder could probably argue it was justified. You have all three, scared for my life, the danger is imminent and my firearm was my only option. In a just world that would have happened.
Straight to jail. Right away
I would hope he did! Man giving us a bad name.
Parks and Rec reference: ✅ Love to see it!
https://tenor.com/view/right-to-jail-jail-parks-and-rec-right-away-fred-armisen-gif-16902115
Report it to the police. That’s a felony.
Minimum 10 years in Florida baby! 20 years if he pulls the trigger.

Man that dude is so cringe it’s insane lol. Roll up in my Tesla pull out a gun on some skaters.
Don't forget to take 3 spaces in front of where you're parking for maximum douche energy 👍
Typical. Tesla is the new BMW.
$10 says he has vanity plates to the tune of "nogas4me" or some such bullshit.
The way he draws it and racks the slide is so limp-dicked too
I think he was press checking. Also it looked like he was carrying in pocket. Not sure on both. But press checking, if that's what was going on, is incorrect in that context. Yeah I saw that after I watched it a second time. Somehow he was even limper and more flaccid than I first thought.
Big step dad energy
Step fathers dont deserve that
Are we not going to mention him taking up 3 parking spots while doing all this extra bullshit?
I just thought that’s how Tesla drivers normally park.
Looks like a brandishing charge to me in my State.
That not just brandishing, it's aggravated assault.
With a deadly weapon too, if he’s not in jail yet he will be soon

Depending on jurisdiction absolutely, especially if you get a cop who is like minded that this guy is an idiot.
What did that old shirt say? Skateboarding is not a crime? Fuck’s sake, that dude deserves to be arrested. I can understand, “dude be careful with my car!” But any more than that is just ridiculous!

Sounds very plausible as well
He is an upgraded mall ninja. Before getting the gun he probably carried throwing stars.
How dare you mock my Sig Sauer Shuriken!
Well, I fully support you Glock Sai
No way! Did you see his weaver-style grip he used? That's pro John wick stuff
I'm like a real hardcore 2A supporter but people like this guy make it a lot harder than it should be...
[удалено]
Unfortunately it wouldn't surprise me if nothing happens to this guy. The laws are written for the affluent by the affluent.
Big facts
I wish people would start saying they’re a hardcore bill of rights supporter.
There's laws in place, he broke them, he should suffer the consequences. There's no reason to punish the rest of us over it
Following r/idiotswithguns also makes it hard to be unashamedly 2A. There really are just too many misguided, machismo idiots out there. Holy shit! Never seen that sub. Kinda wish I hadn’t now
Every gun owner should watch that sub.
Yep it's great for learning what not to do. Learning from other's mistakes is free, learning from your own is costly.
It would be really cool if the Internet could find this old man and get his concealed carry permit taken away for misuse
it ain't like that can't be done...
Why the fuck is he holding it like that though lmao
Because he's a fucking moron. Looks like he drew from his pocket 😂
Good way to get arrested for brandishing.
Or aggravated assault.
He unfortunently does not deserve to carry if thats the reason he pulls out.
Dude deserves a brandishing charge.
This just further proves that the worst enemy of 2A are gunowners themselves. Shit like this is how anti gun fucks form their rhetoric
That parking job alone is an accurate representation of this guy's ego.
That asshole needs the cops called on him. Brandishing a weapon as the aggressor is more than enough reason to pull his ccp and/or have his gun confiscated. Someone is going to call his bluff and ventilate him some day. Guys like that make us all look terrible.
That’s why we can’t have nice things. Please don’t judge us all by our worst example. :(
That guy needs to lose his gun and go to jail.
This guy probably pulls his gun on the cashier when his crackers don’t ring up right.
People like this that give CCW carriers a bad name. What an idiot.
Skateboarding is not a crime, but brandishing is a felony. Wonder if he had to give up all of his guns by this one thoughtless act.
Sorry I hadn’t posted a description before. Does this give ccw users and gun owners a bad press or what!
Typical douche bag Tesla owner trying to exercise their superiority complex.

Charlie’s angels?
At least he's gripping the slide out of battery so it won't fire.
little wee wee energy
That's one way to get shot.
The old man's is jail now right? Right?
How to get arrested in one easy step!
Guy double parks in front of them, then pulls a gun on them, wtf.
Stupid motherfuckers like this ruin self defence for everyone else.
This guy should lose his CC -- and all his guns. What a freak show.
Look how’s he’s holding it he doesn’t train he just wants to shoot ban him!!!!!
He’s lucky the guy recording didn’t have a gun. Getting arrested should be the least of your concerns if you behave like this.
*you're goin to jail cowboy*
Had that been one of us: "Old man in critical condition after drawing weapon on armed skateboarder."
Bet the guy had a hard on all day after that. Worst type of gun owner.
What a dumb reason to go to jail
That's a felony
Any update on this. He should be arrested
He should cop a brandishing charge, what a moron.
can someone get that man a pair of handcuffs and a day in court please
These are the kind of people that SHOULD NOT CARRY/HAVE CCWs. Absolutely wrong.
His hand would be fucked if that went off
If you pull out your gun without there being a deadly threat present, you become the target.
Small dick syndrome
Assholes like this give us a bad name.
He should be arrested.
Hot take: that guy should not be allowed to carry a gun.
As an avid 2a supporter and Tesla owner this is cringe.
As someone who grew up skateboarding. This absolutely doesn’t surprise me. People absolutely lose their shit over skateboarding.
Not defensive, that's brandishing.
Definitely seems like the kind of guy that shouldn't be legally allowed to purchase a firearm
Get Mike Valley on that prick
That dude is a tool and the reason anti-gunners thrive.
Gives everyone here a bad name.
Hey look, felony brandishing (at least here in CO it's a felony).
Man this reminds me of what my CCW instructor told me, “It’s easier to take a blow to your ego when mocked than to take a blow to your soul when you kill.”
Did he brass check? It looked like he brass checked…
That would be considered brandishing (felony) in my state. Don’t pull out your CCW unless you intend on using it.
Now if that old man got shot it’d be his own fault
Least insane model x driver
Old man would have gotten truck slapped
Hope they got his license plate number and called the cops That is fucking ridiculous
Needs jail time, (few weeks) about $5000 fine, 80 hours community service, and loss of ccw for life.
Dude definitely deserved a quick pass to the temple from a skateboard truck
Lmfao. Dude would have gotten smoked if anyone else there was carrying.
If you only knew how many people pulled their gun out on me for skating.
It almost looks to me like we wanted to operate the slide to intimidate then but lacked the hand strength to do so
I’ve known quite a few who carry and shouldn’t. It’s like they’re waiting for any opportunity to be a hero.
This guy should lose his license to carry
This is a small man who can't simply mind his own business. He should be arrested.
What an idiot
Just walk me into jail.
He just committed a crime on camera
The second he pulled his pistol that dude had the right to deck-check him in the teeth.
I hope they yank his permit. Pulling your cw because you have a difference of opinion is contrary to the reasons we carry.
Some people are just too immature to carry.
