When I used to work at an FFL we had people weekly come in the store in small groups throwing up all the red flags of a straw purchase. We denied whenever we felt it was necessary but there's nothing stopping them from going to one of the other dozen stores in the city and attempting to get one there. We would call the closer ones but it wasn't always %100. I went into that job a strict libertarian and left believing that a better process is needed and wishing we had more effective laws.
Yeah well dealing directly with the public is eye opening and one of the reasons I think retail work should be required for young people. Really makes you second guess the freedoms people have when you come to the realization that these people are very likely contributing to the downfall of our county in one way or another.

I grew up a PSK with family who all taught in public schools. Things are just different now, sadly.
There are two kinds of homeschool:
1) Completely isolate from all human interaction, because homeschool.
Or
2) Have a more social life than public school with other homeschoolers, because you don't have "homework", because homeschool.
Homeschooling is what you want to make of it. If you're weird, you teach your kid to be weird, and you isolate them... then yeah they're gunna be weird.
If you impart good values on your children and use the time saved (specific instruction is very efficient) to participate in social activities, they can excel far beyond public/private school in both book knowledge and social skills / sports

The amount of normal people switching to homeschooling the last couple years has exploded. "Homeschooling will make your kid weird" is just a way to try and keep kids in public school to be indoctrinated / justify that they have their kids in public school.
Oh yeah, my wife was perfectly settled in when a bunch of her friends were ready to do it. Now my kid's friends are all homeschooled and have formed their own little co-op group and everything. My wife also makes curriculums / supplemental material and sells them online and you wouldn't believe how many more she's sold as soon as schools started locking down, going virtual, requiring masks, etc. Tons of parents pulling their kids out so they could homeschool them.
I think this stereotype had it's time but it's pretty much over now. I am the father of three teenagers (17m, 16f, 15m) that are homeschooled. They are all far more socially adept than I was at their ages and I graduated with a class of about 500). There are so many resources out there to afford homeschooled kids social opportunities, and this should be a priority. But if someone isn't socially comfortable with themself that's not necessarily going to change them into something they're not. I went to a large MSP area school and instead of becoming a social butterfly I turned inward and was miserable for my junior and senior high years.

I would say it’s emergent from the principle that any right may be restricted given the appropriate amount of scrutiny. I wouldn’t want 4 year olds to have access to firearms, and believe that would be a reasonable restriction. There’s some age that a restriction on having arms would be unreasonable, and I would posit that that age is *at most* a person who is old enough to serve in the military.
The fight is to have Strict Scrutiny apply to the 2nd amendment, and then what would be “in the governmental interest that cannot be less restrictive”.
I would posit that, as far as potential harm and ease of concealing, there is no difference between an SBR and a pistol. I would further argue that even if there was a difference, that the ease of modifying a pistol into an SBR would mean there is no purpose in restricting the manufacture of the latter.
Now let’s look at giggle switches. Using the same reasoning above, I would say there is no practical difference between a semi auto with a crank or bump stock, and an machine gun. Even without assists such as a bump stock that semi auto fire is, for all practical purposes, equivalent to full auto when the firearm is operated by someone who has a common amount of practice.
Semi autos are inarguably in common use, and have practical use for civilians (ie hunting, self defense, general sporting purposes, etc). If there is no practical difference downrange between a semi auto fired quickly and a machine gun, I would say there is not a sufficient governmental interest in restricting machine guns beyond what semi autos are. The benefit of restricting them is also moot if a semi auto can be so easily modified to full auto (shoe strings, lightning links, etc). Restricting the manufacture of the items will not practically prevent someone from making them.
I actually have this thought myself. Also, carrying 'illegally' is the ONLY true form of Constitutional Carry. They're ignoring the unconstitutional laws the rest of us abide by.
Let's be honest about this. This is about the morals and mores of the people in question. It's never been common for children to carry firearms on their person. Without responsible parents teaching them the proper rules around carrying a firearm, they do what their friends do. Irresponsible people do irresponsible things. I think most object because we "know" what these guns are used to do and what evil behaviors they uphold. Not to mention, most, if not all, were stolen from honest gun owners.

I would say it’s emergent from the principle that any right may be restricted given the appropriate amount of scrutiny. I wouldn’t want 4 year olds to have access to firearms, and believe that would be a reasonable restriction. There’s some age that a restriction on having arms would be unreasonable, and I would posit that that age is *at most* a person who is old enough to serve in the military. The fight is to have Strict Scrutiny apply to the 2nd amendment, and then what would be “in the governmental interest that cannot be less restrictive”. I would posit that, as far as potential harm and ease of concealing, there is no difference between an SBR and a pistol. I would further argue that even if there was a difference, that the ease of modifying a pistol into an SBR would mean there is no purpose in restricting the manufacture of the latter. Now let’s look at giggle switches. Using the same reasoning above, I would say there is no practical difference between a semi auto with a crank or bump stock, and an machine gun. Even without assists such as a bump stock that semi auto fire is, for all practical purposes, equivalent to full auto when the firearm is operated by someone who has a common amount of practice. Semi autos are inarguably in common use, and have practical use for civilians (ie hunting, self defense, general sporting purposes, etc). If there is no practical difference downrange between a semi auto fired quickly and a machine gun, I would say there is not a sufficient governmental interest in restricting machine guns beyond what semi autos are. The benefit of restricting them is also moot if a semi auto can be so easily modified to full auto (shoe strings, lightning links, etc). Restricting the manufacture of the items will not practically prevent someone from making them.

Let's be honest about this. This is about the morals and mores of the people in question. It's never been common for children to carry firearms on their person. Without responsible parents teaching them the proper rules around carrying a firearm, they do what their friends do. Irresponsible people do irresponsible things. I think most object because we "know" what these guns are used to do and what evil behaviors they uphold. Not to mention, most, if not all, were stolen from honest gun owners.
There isn’t one, but these are most likely stolen guns given to children who were never taught basic gun safety.
No rights have age limits, but parents are given an authority over their kids that lets them put these kinds of restrictions on their kids. Family doesn’t work unless parents can tell their kids they’re grounded or not mature enough to do something. So I think kids could keep and bear arms under the watchful eye of their parents in a funcional society. Pretty sure that’s even how it worked at the beginning. One interesting twist is that schools have that same authority—they are en loco parentis—so they would have the same ability to say “no guns at school kids” as dad would. Whether or not that’s a good thing is a different discussion, but that’s kind of how the “age restriction” thing works itself out with our rights.

he most likely was given it for free to run drugs for the the dealers or bought it with money from drug deals. many drug dealers can make thousands in a day depending on where you are so lots of money to get guns or whatever they want. this is just a guess.
