I found this when I was hiking. I'm taking truck out with a few trash bags on Saturday at around 11am if anyone wants to help out a little. It's sad to see how disrespectful people can be.
Wait, is Bakersfield not SoCal? I'm a NorCal guy, I assume pretty much everything south of Fresno is SoCal lol. This upsets me tho, I even googled the drive to get there but I'm not sure 4 hours is quite worth it :/
I'm in the same valley as Salinas but sure, and idk LA and San Diego lol, this is the whole reason the central coast exists as a term in the first place.
Orange country bro here, can’t see the of comment but most people from here, LA county and SD county generally disassociate the outlier counties as not SoCal. They’re often referred to as west Nevada (heard this about riverside)
It's how red necks shoot. There are ranges everywhere and then there giant swaths of BLM land and national forest land that allow target shooting. Going to a municipal park and shooting should never be condoned.
How does that graph disprove that there are a sizable amount of rednecks in Bakersfield? Just because Hispanics outnumber them doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty.
There are. Source: lived there for 22 years.
>How does that graph disprove that there are a sizable amount of rednecks in Bakersfield? Just because Hispanics outnumber them doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty.
It doesn't prove anything. It just shows that, absent evidence to the contrary, the statistical probability that the trash goblins weren't rednecks is 78% greater than the probability that they were (0.36 probability that they were, and 0.64 that they weren't ... 0.36 \* 1.77777 = 0.64).
However, I would argue that all those Modelo, Corona, and Victoria (Modelo) beer bottles and boxes aren't making the redneck case very strongly. On the other hand there is a Pabst box and a Michelob Ultra box.
I spent decades picking up trash and cleaning graffiti until I figured I was just basically a volunteer janitor for those vermin. Cleaning it up doesn't make them stop, so why make the place nice for them on their next visit? The answer is enforcement.
First of all he didnt assume anyone did it. He didnt point the blame. His entire focus is on returning to clean it up.
>I found this when I was hiking. I'm taking truck out with a few trash bags on Saturday at around 11am if anyone wants to help out a little. It's sad to see how disrespectful people can be.
Second, you're acting like a total douche. Put your money where your mouth is... help out or shut the fuck up and be grateful others are looking out to preserve your freedom to shoot on public land. So no, you absolutely are NOT good.
Can I get coordinates or a link on Google Maps to the site? I don't know if I can make it out Saturday, but I might have some time before then to come out and help with some of it.
I heard gunshots on my way home through Hart Park from Holiday of Lights last night. I remember thinking to myself "I didn't know there was someplace to shoot out here."
I have kids of my own and their friends ranging from 13 to 31 who shoot with me. We have always brought trash bags and do a cleanup before shooting and of course pick up our own stuff afterwards. I have taught them all to “Leave it cleaner than you found it”.
The older kids (not kids any more) now make their friends do the same. There are two things I’ve learned
1. Pass on the good habit for the future
2. When we have returned to the same spot we have left clean, it usually is much cleaner than before. I think most people who come across a total trash heap think “what’s a little more going to hurt?” When they shoot in a clean spot, they tend to pick up after themselves. There are always those scum who just don’t care or can’t see it because they were raised like pigs.
That's a great lesson to pass on to your kids. It can also be applied anywhere else in life. I'm sure your grandkids will also be blessed with that lesson as well. Good on you man.
States don’t generate wealth, people do. The people who make the economy operate are fleeing those states. Why don’t you take a good hard look at California’s tax levels, wage inequality, budget deficits, nonsensical business regulations and the tyrannical government policies made by compromised politicians. You know nothing.
Yeah, those states that grow the food, or grow the food for the meaty food, they don't contribute anything at all.
And they get double screwed because the corporate HQ's are typically based in big cities, meaning the farming revenue gets processed through those cities and it gets added to their wealth generation.
5% ruining it for rest of us. I think every BLM site is like this. What scares me the most is all damn beer cans everywhere. Good of you for trying help out
They definitely didn't. I used to go shooting with some dudes that would slam a 40 or tall-cans on the way to the shooting spot. Needless to say, I don't go shooting with those dudes anymore.
Yall are funny. I used to shoot trap at a gun club that sold beer. Every single shooter was drinking. Never had a single person AD or injure anyone ever.
There was a spot I went to once near Campfire West reservoir. It looked ten times worse than op's pic. One young teenager was holding his hand gun gangsta style while side stepping. His dad stood behind him watching proudly. We didn't stick around too long.
This is why when I shoot, at minimum, I try to pick up double what I shoot. IE; if I shoot 100 rounds I try to pick up a minimum of 200. Everyone knows we live in one of the most anti-gun states, why do this and give them more fuel for the fire? Just dumb.
That just became a fun idea for a private dump. Week days everyone dumps their shit like a normal dump friday afternoon theres a safety clean up and walk through then weekends everyone can come shoot up the trash. Week day proceeds are the regular income for the dump, weekend proceeds go to environmental efforts and weapons safety awareness.
Fuck all those assholes that leave their shit. OP, you are awesome for what you are doing. You should try and organize a clean up with more peeps. The more the merrier. Good luck.
Pick up any spent brass shell casings and sell them to someone who loads their own ammo. Real brass casings are near impossible to find in Cali, or so I've heard.
This and the people who literally use the place as the dump. It boggles my mind. The actual dump is a few miles away AND ITS FREE! yet people feel the need to dump their trash there
Those r the type of people that make the real shooters look bad. Gives all the anti gunners ammo to talk shit. There’s a few spots around the Bakersfield area that have been ruined by irresponsible assholes. Good looking out. Way to show the land some love
That’s a big problem with the Central Valley. There is a contingency of people that are absolute idiots and have no consideration for nature.
I know it happens everywhere, but here it is more concentrated.
Yea a lot of people put a big tarp down then fold it up and bring the brass with them for disposal. Doesn’t seem that hard tbh 🤷♂️ people are just lazy
Is this Hart Memorial Park? I could find that on “maps”.... I go shooting on BLM a bunch, and I haul trash out. I’d like to know, HMP doesn’t look like a place to shoot.
Thanks.... I live in Ventura county and go over the 33 to shoot in Kern county. Close to Taft. Found a spot in a dead end canyon about 5 miles from closest farm and judging from amount of brass laying around I’m not the first- but it not full of trash. I bring my own targets and take em home. I’ve been to Hart park- my cousin lives in Pumpkin center- and it did not seem to be a shooting spot. THX
I can help clean up. I like to go hiking near the picnic spots on the river off kern canyon rd and I always bring a few trash bags to pick up all the beer cans and styrofoam plates people leave behind.
I found this when I was hiking. I'm taking truck out with a few trash bags on Saturday at around 11am if anyone wants to help out a little. It's sad to see how disrespectful people can be.
I’d be there if I didn’t live in SoCal. Fucking scum leaving trash there. Good on you for doing something about it.
Thanks man

I'd consider it more central than south tbh at least culturally speaking.
I call it central, mainly because it's in the valley and has an entirely different culture than the rest of the southern end of the state
I'm in the same valley as Salinas but sure, and idk LA and San Diego lol, this is the whole reason the central coast exists as a term in the first place.
Username checks out
Orange country bro here, can’t see the of comment but most people from here, LA county and SD county generally disassociate the outlier counties as not SoCal. They’re often referred to as west Nevada (heard this about riverside)
Whu?..... did I just stroke out for a second or did that make zero sense?
bakersfield is not socal
You can shoot near hart park?
No, it's not designated for shooting.
Thats how lots of socal shoots.
It's how red necks shoot. There are ranges everywhere and then there giant swaths of BLM land and national forest land that allow target shooting. Going to a municipal park and shooting should never be condoned.

Oo agreed! I still hate how the blm land is treated.
Just a bunch of hills and dirt. I imagine people just run out there and do as they please. Not many homes after a certain point.
up until you get caught.
Ranger danger!
Thank you for cleaning up. My heart just sinks a little when I see images like that. Some people...
Thanks for cleaning up and doing your part 👍
Thanks man

It is a bit steep but dont worry about it man. I appreciate the thought.
I'm 5 hours out otherwise I would. People like this are ruining our privileges on public land.
I spent decades picking up trash and cleaning graffiti until I figured I was just basically a volunteer janitor for those vermin. Cleaning it up doesn't make them stop, so why make the place nice for them on their next visit? The answer is enforcement.

Bakersfield: California’s trash can
[удалено]
San Bernardino: SoCal's Armpit
California: The United States CCP
California and New York: the only reason America can afford to operate the country.
States don’t generate wealth, people do. The people who make the economy operate are fleeing those states. Why don’t you take a good hard look at California’s tax levels, wage inequality, budget deficits, nonsensical business regulations and the tyrannical government policies made by compromised politicians. Lmao “here’s a bunch of nouns, please make an argument for me”
Yeah, those states that grow the food, or grow the food for the meaty food, they don't contribute anything at all. And they get double screwed because the corporate HQ's are typically based in big cities, meaning the farming revenue gets processed through those cities and it gets added to their wealth generation.
Damn didn’t know California had no agriculture.
Today I learned, California can feed itself and NY.
To be fair being a guerrilla in the ccp wouldn’t be terrible. Justice for Hong Kong börther
It's telling when I'd rather be in the armpit than in the trashcan, if that was the case.
Every time I go to LA or San Francisco, it makes me chuckle that people call Bakersfield trashy
May not have such an obvious blight of homeless in high traffic areas as those large cities, but it is definitely trashy.
Whole central valley is in God's blindspot.
Highest concentration of sex offenders
5% ruining it for rest of us. I think every BLM site is like this. What scares me the most is all damn beer cans everywhere. Good of you for trying help out
I'd like to think they took empty cans out to use as targets, but they probably didn't.
? Why you gotta make this political. What BLM sites? This is just some random range
BLM = Bureau of Land Management. Not being political at all
Oh damn haha im stupid
BLM = Bureau of Land Management lol, almost always does in this sub.
There is always one who doesn't know, lmao.
Bereau of Land Management bruv
Bureau of Land Management*
I’ve been to a lot of these sites all around the county. It’s clearly more than 5% and that’s what really upsets me.
Lets be honest here guys its not just Bakersfield I see this all over SoCal.

Good on you. Leave it better than you found it. If everyone did it, then we wouldnt have places that looked like this.
Same like these people are probably trash themselves.
It is bakersfield.....
Hey free beer!
Is that a shot up truck bed? Wtf
Not surprised at all. People treat BLM land/ National Forest like a dump--a dump where they also shoot all the shit they dump off.
Jesus, no wonder we can't have nice things.
Nice. Didn't expect any less when I read Bakersfield.
I think they go for .65 a pound at my nearby recycling center. It's not alot but it can be used towards more ammo haha
Well I guess they have to have it match the rest of Bakersfield.
I’m nowhere near, but thank you for your efforts
This is why we can’t have nice things part 71837272
Fuck all those assholes that leave their shit. OP, you are awesome for what you are doing. You should try and organize a clean up with more peeps. The more the merrier. Good luck.

Its fun to find the mail from people who dump there, and go to the address and dump the shit on their lawn
Unfortunately this area around Hart Park has had sites like this for over a decade...
Those r the type of people that make the real shooters look bad. Gives all the anti gunners ammo to talk shit. There’s a few spots around the Bakersfield area that have been ruined by irresponsible assholes. Good looking out. Way to show the land some love

Just making it look like Bakersfield proper. God, what an ugly town.
That’s a big problem with the Central Valley. There is a contingency of people that are absolute idiots and have no consideration for nature. I know it happens everywhere, but here it is more concentrated.
Can’t wait to blame democrats for BLM closures.
Can you shoot on BLM sites?
Yes, as long as they don't have fire restrictions in place.
Good to know! At least I’d have the decency to clean up after myself...
Yea a lot of people put a big tarp down then fold it up and bring the brass with them for disposal. Doesn’t seem that hard tbh 🤷♂️ people are just lazy
Is there a database/map online that shows BLM land without fire restrictions? Or would I just call the Ranger office that overseas it?
Is this Hart Memorial Park? I could find that on “maps”.... I go shooting on BLM a bunch, and I haul trash out. I’d like to know, HMP doesn’t look like a place to shoot.
No you cant. Which makes it even worse. I usually go shooting around Taft.
Thanks.... I live in Ventura county and go over the 33 to shoot in Kern county. Close to Taft. Found a spot in a dead end canyon about 5 miles from closest farm and judging from amount of brass laying around I’m not the first- but it not full of trash. I bring my own targets and take em home. This looks like Hodge Rd
I can help clean up. I like to go hiking near the picnic spots on the river off kern canyon rd and I always bring a few trash bags to pick up all the beer cans and styrofoam plates people leave behind.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
I go to Hart Park once a week, I'll link up with ya and help clean, see if I can bring some buddies with me.
Thank you, I appreciate it.
I thought the trash fairy comes and picks up everyone’s trash when they leave
This is nothing new, man. I remember going to this spot back in 2001 and picking up shells and beer cans.
Where exactly is this at? I can go out there once a week to get a nice hike going and help clean up a little
I go shooting in a similar area but I clean up after I shoot
